Re: The Rangers 'CHAMPIONS LEAGUE' Thread - McLeish to leave!

Tell me its 2007 please as this is a really bad year atm. McLeish go fuck off, why the hell did he start with Novo and Prso. Novo is clearly the 4th best striker at the club atm, and Dado has been out of form the past few weeks. What killed me most was the lack of conviction from most of the players, I think Hutton and Burke had good games, but the majority of the team were piss poor. Septic wern't even that good either thats a really hard one to take. I cant remember them even trying to get near the goal in the second half apart from the Bobo backheal and Dublins shot. Buffel dissapeared out that game completly in the 2nd half. I can still hope that we can finish second tho the last few performances have gave me a complete lack of confidence. The only thing to lift this side is the coming of Le Guen I hope it happens and the money to back him up. These are the only conditions that can take us back to a side that can be compared of the 9 in a row days. PS Ferguson , get the finger out , I don't know what the hell has happend to him since he was at Blackburn but it isn't good.

Re: The Rangers 'CHAMPIONS LEAGUE' Thread - McLeish to leave!

Paul Le Guen might be replacement for McLeish?

For yor sake Cloud I hope it happens as I know you'd want whats best for Rangers and he's quality! But I find it a bit shocking if it does happen although having been out of a job for a while he might have lowered his standards a bit now and just want to get back at managing. I don't mean this at all that Rangers is small club.. don't misinterpret as I haven't had time to proofread this right now what I mean is when he quit Lyon, he did it because

1) He wanted a new challenge as he had won Ligue 1 title 3 years in a row which he will get at a new league and new club like Rangers

2) I had a feeling he now wants to go to perhaps even a bigger club than Lyon which wouldn't be Rangers but then again he's been out of work for a while so might just be happy with a new challenge.

I would be surprised though but hope it happens for you and other Rangers fans' sake.

I can understand the fact that some people find it a little hard to understand why the guy would come to Rangers, especially when its reported hes had offers from Real Madrid ,Newcastle and Juventus. I think its quite simple though, he is guy that loves a challange. He would much rather take a side , build it and prove something that way. I hope it does come true as he certainly would be one of the most sucsessfull mangers in Scotland since the 9 in a row days. He would make Ibrox a fortress again and he would get us to play quality football. This is really required atm as the only side in Scotland that play attractive football are Hibs and that really says a lot, no disrespect to the Hibs but compared to what they spend and what we also Septic spend, it is a bit of a joke.

We need him at the club and we need to give him promisises that are kept , Murry is very good at telling one story doing anotehr and getting away with it with being a liar. Well with Le Guen that would change he would take no BS. I think the players he could bring to scotland with his name alone would be fantastic, Ill be honest and the last big name to play in Scotland now plays for Barca and we do need more players of his capacity and if possible better playing in the SPL and this guy can for sure :P bring that. If we dont get him it will be a big downer in this part of the world but I would still expect a quality manager coming but who else could it be. Thankfully Strachen still isnt looking for a club as hes found a nice wee pension play already and Im sure in the future he will bring more of his own to the club. So to foxtrot and the rest of the Teddy Bears out there keep believing.

Yeah maybe you're right. He does seem like that type of guy and I agree having him at Ibrox is the biggest name signing you can have anyway and he'll turn the club around ofcourse the reason for all his success at Lyon wasn't simply his brilliance either but due to the high quality set of players that team had. I used to think Paul Le Guen was a god but now that I see even Houllier (whom I don't rate much) is doing brilliantly with Lyon it tells you something. Those players are just too good not to be winning and even a poo manager might get them to win the league and do well in Europe but a brilliant one like Le guen if he had stayed could've probably made them CL champs this season although that is not to say it wont happen this year, it very well might although Lyon is in a huge injury crisis at the back right now so maybe they wont survive it!

In anycase I'm getting offtopic now but I hear what you're saying and agree.

Good talking to you.

p.s. Sorry I still haven't gotten to your reply on thread but I will in next few days. Just been very busy.

take care

Re: The Rangers 'CHAMPIONS LEAGUE' Thread - McLeish to leave!

Cloud - With regards to playing football unless your talking about lately then your wrong about just Hibs playing football, Celtic where playing some brilliant football earlier in the season, however since it all went a big squidgy it hasn't been as nice.

Anyways, onto more important things, FOXY, happy birthday mate, it was your big 21 yesterday, sorry I noticed it, but was meant to post yesterday, but never got a chance. Hope you had a fantastic day mate. ;) (btw, you and Celtic are both celebrating a fantastic 21. ).

Re: The Rangers 'CHAMPIONS LEAGUE' Thread - McLeish to leave!

Celtic had a spell of a fwe months playing decent football , but with regards to the whole season they have been far from the best footballing side. When GS started you were awful then you got a bit better, still could see flaws in your game now you back down again, and only complamented by the worst Rangers side in my knowledge.

Hibs have played nice football at times but they also went through a sticky patch, plus playing nice football obviously doesn't mean you'll win every time. Celtic have played some good stuff this year at times but overall I'd agree they've not played that well over the season as a whole.

It really does go to show though, if that's the case then you lot are utter shite!

I like the colour :P Listen guys give it good the now cause when the new season starts your going to see a very,VERY different RangersFootballClub.;) Fortress Ibrox will return remember time is a healer in football , it was still less than twelve months that Terry Butcher once again brought the title to Ibrox and yea you have won this season but lets face it, its the battle of the shitter teams and we were shitter no doubt about it. But still we can get to the last 16 yes last 16 of the greatest club tournament with ALex McLiesh at the helm no less, and Saint Martin couldnt do it even with the power of lucky number 7. All he could do was take 80,000 from the east end of Ireland to one of the greatest UEFA cup finals I have ever watched.

Just seen this. Cheers. I've been blootered the past 7 days and I'm off to New York on Friday. :)

Have to laugh at that final Cloud. Even Capucho got a winners medal that day.

Re: The Rangers 'CHAMPIONS LEAGUE' Thread - McLeish to leave!

Will you be in New York for the Villareal gam I take it m8? That final was fantastic, but Im not nearly as excited as I am to see the last 16. To be in with a chance of being in the last 8 teams in Europe is fantastic. Did you see this article about Dado Prso???

DSCN2065.jpg

This seems like a way for "them" to attempt to twist the situation that happend earlier with that Fat Bstrd Hartson and Pearson OOOooooo :P When they got cleared of clearly singing their own "songs".Although the pie man did look less into it that Pearson.

Re: The Rangers 'CHAMPIONS LEAGUE' Thread - McLeish to leave!

I'm back early Tuesday morning so I'll make it for the Villarreal game. I'm also going to the away game in Spain at the beginning of March :mryellow: Just hope it's not going to be a pointless game by then!

You should see the headline in today's Daily Ireland...

"Titanic Sinks"

 You just have to laugh at it. The Dado video was shown on Rangers TV the day after we won the title. He doesn't know the words apart from 'Hello Hello. We are the Rangers boys.' He prrapbapbap's his way through the rest :)

I'm not taking it for granted that we'll win the league just yet, but we'll certainly finish above you. Isn't it amazing, when Celtic were away in Europe midweek then playing in the SPL at the weekend, and lose the title on the last day of the season, it was a "brave and triumphant" Rangers side that were champions. When it looks like Celtic are going to coast it, "the league is crap this year anyway". Rangers go on the worst run of domestic form in their history, 10 without a win, and are out of the running for all domestic trophies, yet the reaction from the press is rather muted. Celtic lose two pre-season friendlies and they're showing cracked club crests in the paper. You couldn't make it up.

As for Le Guen, it's a big coup if he comes. As far as I'm told he's already turned down three jobs in the past year though, so don't think it's all done and dusted. Even then, you're going to need an awful lot of money to build a decent team, and where's that going to come from? Oh aye, this 'investment'. This same 'investment' that was meant to let you buy players in January, and delivered Kris "I cannae get a game so I'll kick Roy Keane" Boyd.

Fortress Ibrox, I'll believe it when I see it, I think you're getting ahead of yourself.

Re: The Rangers 'CHAMPIONS LEAGUE' Thread - McLeish to leave!

We'll see what happens. If Le Guen does go then it is a good manager on paper, if he delivers at Rangers is another matter, if he thinks he can bring a team of French players over he may get a shock.

Although because his wife and stuff where over doesn't mean a thing, he did the exact thing to Benfica and Lazio and I'm sure one of the Moscow teams where mentioned too.

Re: The Rangers 'CHAMPIONS LEAGUE' Thread - McLeish to leave!

I think if Le Guen comes the investment will happen its hand in hand. If you dont hear him turning down the job in the next week it will more than likly be a done deal, and when our CL run is finished I wouldnt be surprised to hear more about it then. I have faith in Murray although the last few months have been dodgy from him he as always said look at the big picture and Im more than happy to do this. Im gutted to lose the league to you no doubt about it but we will deal with it, mark my words though , by christmas things will be different , mark it down come back to me then and tell me otherwise. Of coarse you are not wanting this to happen as you know the serious effect it will have in our league standings.

I don't think its a done deal but if he wasnt going to go it would have been in the papers by now. I thought he was going to come when the story first broke months ago and Im still sure its going to happen. As for brinign a team of French players yes proberly bring one or two but just because a manager is from a different nation doesnt alwys mean heel bring a full squad. The guy seems very astute and this doesnt sound like something he would do. Well see what happens , well see how much money we spend in the summer and we will see where we are in a years time.

Re: The Rangers 'CHAMPIONS LEAGUE' Thread - McLeish to leave!

Yes you'll be in a better position next Christmas, but that isn't saying much given where you are at the moment.

Believe Murray all you want, how much pish has this man spouted over the years? Lots! You think someone is going to walk into Rangers and say "Here, free money"? Bit naive IMO, you don't get something for nothing, that doesn't happen. It was meant to happen in time for the January window, it didn't happen.

PLG - apparently this has been in the works for months, yet the guy still cannot put pen to paper. I don't understand how no news in the papers is good news, I'd have said it's bad news as in if the guy was going to sign he'd have done it already given the months of talks they've supposedly had.

Re: The Rangers 'CHAMPIONS LEAGUE' Thread - McLeish to leave!

Both making good points guys but I agree Cloud, although he could very well sign I don't see how no news is good news? I mean it COULD be but it could also be BAd news if he still hasn't put pen to paper after months of negotiation if you look at it another way. Rangers could be yet another club he'll reject ultimately as he did with LAzio/Benfica and bunch of other ones until he finds the job he really seeks.

Also agree with CLoud if he does come, I don't think he's the type to bring a whole French squad of players with him. Sure he'll buy a few here and there but even then they won't be getting the best, they'll be getting likes of Pierre Fan-fan  (This guy has done some of the most shocking defending I've seen in my life or Julien Rodriguez who had lost or was gonna lost his place in Monaco side) but nonetheless IF he does come in, he's high profile and will hopefully be able to tempt better players especially from France than what they've got recently (bunch of mediocre ones except Prso who was good but still with all those players at Monaco, it didn't seem like he'd be getting that much playing time). So yes quality they bring in will probably improve I think but still you can't expect them to get good players of Lyon/Marseille and that type.

Anyways I do think too by next christmas, Rangers will be in a much better situation and perhaps on top of league once again whether PLG comes or not but I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Re: The Rangers 'CHAMPIONS LEAGUE' Thread - McLeish to leave!

It wasnt a bad result for the gers could have been worse. 2nd Leg to come so its still an open game. I dont get what was going through Dado's mind thom, no need to handle the ball. Why the hell was Namouchie starting over Buffel ffs he is pish. Last night gave me a new hating of the first phase second phase offside rule. How the hell can a player a fwe years in front of the keeper not be classed as "active" , he is activly giving the keeper a direct problem by standing right in front of him. But we are still there just and do have a chance , just need Ferguson to turn up for start.PS Nice goal by Pedro :D
