Rangers Thread

Re: The Rangers 'CHAMPIONS LEAGUE' Thread

This is like a conference league discussion, I don't even know the teams you guys are talking about.

If you asked any Rangers fan who they would least like to get, it was Villareal, it is the most unglamorous tie out of them all and I see no other outcome that a Villareal victory. 2-0 they will win at their ground and draw 0-0 or something like that at Ibrox.

FD

you're wrong there, fd lad.

if you had asked me before the draw, i would have given anything to get drawn against villareal - they are without doubt the weakest team rangers could have played. rangers have a chance of beating them - they would have been humped by every other team with probably the exception of liverpool, because the gers would have raised it for the british clash...

Re: The Rangers 'CHAMPIONS LEAGUE' Thread

What about Arsenal? They wouldn't raise it for Arsenal or you just forgot to mention?

i guess you havent seen villareal play, they have possibly one of the best players in the world at the moment in Riquleme, he didnt play too much in the group stage due to injury, but the man is brilliant. Serna, Forlan, the argentinain left winger(cant think of his name) are very good players. You realize they sit 4th in la liga? Tied with Real Madrid on 29 points..... Not sure what your reasons are for thinking they are so poor....

Re: The Rangers 'CHAMPIONS LEAGUE' Thread

I would agree that Rangers' best chance of progression was drawing Vilareal, because although they're very good I would class every other team that finished top of their group as better. So in those terms it's the best draw they could have hoped for.

They'll still beat Rangers IMO, far too classy a team for them not too.

I don't think MonkeyJug has said they are so poor, no one think Villareal are poor here. But along the other teams we think we have a better chance playing against Villareal than Milan ,Barca ,Juve etc.. No one connected with Rangers think this side are a bad side just the weakest of a strong bunch. Look back to when they played an Everton side that were very poor and only scraped through. So that gives us a chance, yea most properly Rangers will get beat but we are there and do have a chance and as Keegan said...........

Re: The Rangers 'CHAMPIONS LEAGUE' Thread

I was more thinking

'I know what is around the corner - I just don't know where the corner is. But the onus is on us to perform and we must control the bandwagon.'

Re: The Rangers 'CHAMPIONS LEAGUE' Thread

KRIS BOYD cheered for Rangers during their Champions League group campaign - now Scotland's most prolific striker is dreaming of playing in the last 16 of the tournament.

Boyd signed tonight from Kilmarnock in a three and a half year deal, subject to registration when the transfer window opens on January 1.

The 22-year-old arrives after a fabulous first half to the season which saw him blast 17 goals for Killie.

He is set to make his debut in the Tennent's Scottish Cup tie with Peterhead on January 7 and he can't wait to get started.

Lifelong fan Kris was at Ibrox this season roaring on the side in the group phase campaign. Now he is dreaming of playing with his boyhood heroes on Europe's top stage.

He said: "I was at the games at Ibrox as Rangers qualified for the last 16 and to have the chance of playing is fantastic.

"It's quite a difference from playing at Kilmarnock in the SPL where reaching the top six of the league is a good achievement.

"It's fantastic to finally sign for the club. There has been a lot of speculation in recent weeks and I'm really pleased that it is now all done and dusted.

"It's now up to me to take advantage of this chance. I know it's going to be tough because there are a lot of great strikers at the club but I am going to give it everything.

"I can't wait to work with guys like Dado Prso. I can only learn from them.

"I have had a good start to the season with Kilmarnock but I know I still have a lot to learn so it's going to be all about hard work for me."

Even although Boyd can't play until January he is allowed to join up with Rangers next week and begin training with his new team mates.
He said: "It's going to be great mixing with the players and this will give me a chance to work with them.

"I reckon Barry Ferguson is the best player in Scotland right now so to get the chance to work with him is brilliant."

He's not exactly the most prolific goalscorer but I'm quite happy with this. He's a fan and will play for the jersey plus he is the top scorer in the SPL. Puts Jeffers to shame :)

i never said they were poor - just that they were the weakest team they could have been drawn against and the team that they stand the best chance of beating...

forgot to mention them! :p

although i think i'd rather take on liverpool - more chance of the 'gers winning...

Re: The Rangers 'CHAMPIONS LEAGUE' Thread

 hehe.............doesn't bother me now as much as it would've should Rangers have been in the final. Tbh, I think the Scottish Cup is great and there's no better feeling that your team being in the final in the last fixture of the season, however there's nothing I hate more than Rangers being in that fixture at the end of the season without Celtic being there too, so now I can relax knowing that they'll not be there.

As soon as one half of the OF goes out the other rubs their hand's with glee thinking of some silverware. You know you where doing that after the Clyde game. :lmao:

Re: The Rangers 'CHAMPIONS LEAGUE' Thread

I said before the game that I never had a good feeling about it. At half-time though I was satisfied and thought we'd come out and dominate like the first half. But low and behold, McLeish's "tactics" came into action once again. Exactly the same as earlier in the season. One down with some god awful defending, lets take off a good performing midfielder in Boab Zidane and stick on another striker. We can't take off Barry, he can do what he likes because he's the captain supposedly.

Twice again we were humped on the counter attack.

You'll see it all again when they play us again next week!

Re: The Rangers 'CHAMPIONS LEAGUE' Thread

Its proberly best , It gives us full concentration on bring the CL to Ibrox :P But in a serious note I think I may try and see If I could fill McLiesh's boots, whilst jumping on his head.

Do they call that a 'Bouncy Bouncy'?

Actually think you have a half-decent chance of beating Vilareal, Riquelme is doubtful and they're in poor form at the moment as well.

Re: The Rangers 'CHAMPIONS LEAGUE' Thread - McLeish to leave!

Best bit of news all day, I would like to thank him for the trophys he has brought to Ibrox. Im not happy tho at the state he has left the club in ,I just hope we do get PLG and after the currernt nightmare is over in a years time we will be a completly different club. Look to the future cause we have a good one. :D

Something like that m8 :P I do honestly think we have a chance against Villareal but still go into the game as underdogs.
