Rangers Thread

Re: The Rangers Thread - PAUL LE GUEN!

Im deeply gutted bout tonights result. I dont't think there is any point complaing about other poeople not doing there job etc, simple fact of the matter Rangers never performed over the whole season. They never look to great in an avarage SPL. I still belive we will be a much better side next season, with the obvious help of the "Potatoe". The now im drunk and feeling crap and just look forward to the summer and the new season ahead.

And good luck to Celtic in the CL...

... if they make it this time.

Had to chuckle at Hearts playing the CL music at full time last night. I don't think they realise they need to reach the group stages before they can rightfully play it.

Re: The Rangers Thread - PAUL LE GUEN!

Yeah Hearts will be unseeded for the qualification as well, which means they're pretty likely to have to overcome a good team to even get into the groups.

As for Celtic, as long as Barcelona beat Arsenal we're there directly, so it's really a cup final for us as well! If we make it, also looks likely that we'll be seeded in pot 2. Provided of course other teams around Europe don't get the required finishes in their leagues, one of em again being Arsenal!

Now, when is Le Guen's press conference exactly, still not seen him at Ibrox yet...

;)

For you to get a second seed spot you need the following , Barca to win, Fiorentina to qualify and AEK Athens to Qualify. If all these things dont happen you will get 3rd. Although I do see one of them happening. But IF Barca get beat roll on the Qualifiers. I wouldnt normally worry about this round as it should be a open and shut case, but with Celtic its .....:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

And Looking at some of the teams that may end up in the unseeded pot Osasuna, Fiorentina, Basel, Red Star Belgrade etc..This could be a UEFA cup season for Celtic also. I really know how bad you need Barca to do a favour for you, and they should win as they are the favs but so where Milan. Roll on a fortnight.

Re: The Rangers Thread - PAUL LE GUEN!

I had a Rangers fan mate when I lived in Manchester. I used to go to a few games with him. Last game I saw was the cup final 2-1 win against St. Johnstone at the piggery (his name, not mine)
Also saw the game a few years back where tere was a guy dressed as Hugh Dallas complete with bloody headband. Funny thing was, while we were walking along, a car pulled up with a police escort and Hugh was inside. This lookalike walked up to the car and held out a red card and blew his whistle at him. Funny as fuck. I'll remeber that forever.
Good luck for next season.

Re: The Rangers Thread - Le Guen révolution commence!

RANGERS have signed South African teenager Dean Furman from Chelsea on a two-year deal.

The 17-year-old central midfielder has jumped at the chance to move to Glasgow and will look to secure a place on the fringes of Paul Le Guen's first-team squad.

Furman was on the books at Stamford Bridge for nine years and was offered a new one-year deal to continue his apprenticeship with the Premiership giants.

Having moved up from the Blues' under-19s to the Reserves, he continued to impress the club's coaching staff but feels he has a far greater chance of securing first-team football at Ibrox.

Jose Mourinho's assistant Steve Clarke feels Furman has all the attributes to become a top player.

He said: "Dean is a young boy who has been with us for some time and come up through our youth teams.

"I actually watched him play in a couple of games with our Reserves last season and I was impressed with him.

"He's a talented centre midfield player and he's also a great kid with a great attitude.

"Obviously it's a big step up from the youth teams at Chelsea to the first-team but the lad has a lot of ability.

"We wish him every success at Rangers."

And in other news... clumsy defender Sotirios Kyrgiakos has been released with immediate effect.

The revolution begins!

Re: The Rangers Thread - Le Guen révolution commence!

Two of your young stars scored two each for Scotland today, looking good for next season. :) Might be closer this time (or will). ;)

Re: The Rangers Thread - Le Guen révolution commence!

Good performace from the pair in general, Burke's first goal was a nice one.
Next season is going to be a much different league, It will all come down to who we sign and who Celtic hold on to. I think if they lose both Keane and Petrov they will be a much weaker side.

Re: The Rangers Thread - Le Guen révolution commence!

TALENTED Czech midfielder Libor Sionko has become the first signing of the Paul Le Guen era.

The 29-year-old star, who has vast experience from his time with Austria Vienna and Sparta Prague, has clinched a three-year contract.
Sionko flew in for talks yesterday and a deal was finalised following a successful medical this morning.

Now the Czech international, who is on standby for the World Cup Finals, can't wait to launch his Rangers career next season.

He said: "It is a great privilege to join Rangers and I am eager to begin my new life in Scotland. I know I have signed for a massive club with many supporters and I can't wait to play in front of them at Ibrox next season.

"I had many offers from a number of top teams but once I learned Rangers were interested my mind was made up. I am also looking forward to working with Paul Le Guen, he is a very experienced manager and can help me develop as a player."

Paul Le Guen added: "Libor is a player I have known about for a few years and I am delighted he will be joining me at Rangers next season.

"He has signed a three-year contract and I look forward to working with him during that time. I am sure he can add something to the Rangers team."

And South America! :) I'm sure he'll find us the next Fred and Cris.

Re: The Rangers Thread - Le Guen révolution commence!

Well I don't know much about this guy but I hope he can do the buisness. I'll take PLG's word for it that Sionko will add to our squad, it is good to see we are moving forward and starting to build our new team.

Re: The Rangers Thread - Le Guen révolution commence!

hey Cloud. Do you get the coach to Rangers games? I've been on a coach that picks up at Sandbach services and goes to the games. Old mate of Mine called Alan gets on it.

Paul le Guen's first interview was released today.

Watch it here.

Despite having the offer of a translator for this interview the Frenchman opted to speak in English.

RANGERS have swooped to sign top Swedish centre back Karl Svensson on a three-year contract.

Chief Executive Martin Bain and manager Paul Le Guen clinched the deal in Paris today, beating off a number of other European sides who were chasing his signature.

Rangers have paid an undisclosed fee for the 22-year-old who has been with Gothenburg for the past two seasons and has also captained the side.

Svensson is rated as one of the best young talents in Europe and is part of Sweden's World Cup squad, who will face England, Trinidad & Tobago and Paraguay in Germany next month.

The powerful and talented defender forced his way into the Swedish squad in January when he made an oustanding debut against Saudi Arabia in a friendly.

Svensson looks like being the ideal partner for Julien Rodriguez in the back line as Le Guen begins to put his own mark on the Rangers side for next season.

He becomes the second major capture by the new manager following the signing of Czech midfielder Libor Sionko from Austria Vienna last week.

Re: The Rangers Thread - Le Guen révolution commence!

I know nothing about this guy and very little about the Swedish league in general so It will be interesting to see what he is like in the SPL.

Re: The Rangers Thread - Le Guen révolution commence!

Hopefully he'll get a run out in the World Cup. He has to be better than Klumsy Kyrgiakos. Seemingly Gothenburg are raging about the transfer. They are in a dire financial situation and combining that with a clause in Svenssons contract, we have gotten him for peanuts. According to their fans its probably around the £200,000 mark. An absolute steal! :mryellow:

Well it would be good to see what he is capable of, would hope he has a better level of concentration that Soti. Well if thats the cost then it will clearly make the transfer fund go further.

Kalle was'nt outstanding against Saudi-Arabia. And i don't think he's one of the biggest talents in europe.
But Kalle certainly has the potential to be the next swedish defence leader.
