Rangers Thread

Re: The Rangers 'CHAMPIONS' Thread

I think you would have signed him had you not been haggling with Wisla Krakow. But then Celtic would still try and haggle for him despite his free price :mryellow:

"The Herald understands Gordon Strachan was offered the player weeks before Rangers for around £800,000 but Peter Lawwell, the Celtic chief executive, was unable to commit, having been locked in negotiations with Zurawski, while finalising the year-long loan of Jérémie Aliadière.
Pierre-Fanfan's representatives grew tired of Celtic's procrastination and informed Rangers of the player's availability via fax. "

The Carling logo is just a promotional thing for new player presentations. It's been done before. AFAIK, the only Scottish team with a sponsor on the back next season will be Hamilton Accies.

"The Herald understands..."

With that reputable source, you've convinced me. ;)

What number is the guy wearing?

I hate The Herald as much as the next person. Graham Spiers is the most biased journo I can think of and I hope someone kicks him in the nuts.

As for the number, he hasn't been given one yet. 18 and 25 are free. Or Rangers might wait until Ball or Zura leave and give him number 3 or 15.

Re: The Rangers 'CHAMPIONS' Thread

Spiers is one of the few journos who isn't a member of the laptop loyal, not afraid to have a go at Murray unlike people like Broadfoot and Keith 'Jingle Jangle' Jackson.

Re: The Rangers 'CHAMPIONS' Thread

How the fuck can u defend Spiers on anything he is a prick .This is the guy who stated after an Old Firm match at Ibrox where Celtic fans were barred he equated this with the North Korean government in terms of its disregard for human rights. But saying that he always gave Septic fans a big head the way he went on about O'Neill.

Re: The Rangers 'CHAMPIONS' Thread

It seems hearts may be giving you a tuff time this year!! Celtic and strachan i give a year before he leaves after numerous fallouts with officials and the governing body. But i have a hunch George Burley will have them in shape before people realise,it does not take longer than a year to make an impact in this league :D

Why because he didn't do a 4-page spread on some unknown Argentine youth who signed for Rangers on a 6-month loan instead of covering Celtic's signing of a £2.5m striker (though admittedly not a household name)? Cos that's what Murray's buddies at the Record did.

Spiers is a Celtic fan, he's admitted as much before - at least he doesn't kid on he's a 'supporter' of another smaller club, etc, unlike some.

You're never going to like Spiers for the simple fact he's more pro-Celtic than pro-Rangers in his articles, and that's fair enough.

Hearts? Well Jim Jeffries did have them in the title race up until about 3 weeks before the end of the season a wee few years back, so nothing's impossible. That Jankauskas fella could be a good signing, I'm sure he was at Porto when Mourinho was there tho I dunno if he signed him or not.

As for Strachan if he's gonna leave I think it'll be due to not being up to the job, which wouldn't surprise me.

It seems Jankauskas has signed on a year long loan from kaunas.Another snmart deal as it seemed he is on a 3 year deal with them, so kaunas is paying his wages(70%) anyway i am sure it will be three years but simillar deals like the other two lithuanians they have with each year another loan. Here is a thought!! Do you think Romanov is just doing this so that there other main shareholder SMG Media do not get any share of transfer money if these eastern block guys do well and sell on until he gains controling interest?Just a thought. Anyway i think they may be 2nd behind yourselves and ahead of the other glasgow team

You've been spot on so far. 100% for Hearts. I'm actually more worried about playing them than I am of Celtic. A lot of teams will underestimate Hearts this season and they'll punish them for it.

As for the game yesterday, I seen nothing. Heard the 1st half on the radio then it was off to the wedding. What a day! :mryellow:

Re: The Rangers 'CHAMPIONS' Thread

Champions League Group H

Inter Milan
Porto
Rangers
Artmedia Bratislava

:mryellow:

What a group. Probably one of the weakest.

Fixtures

Tuesday 13 September - Porto (H)
Wednesday 28 September - Inter (A)
Tuesday 18 October - Bratislava (H)
Wednesday 2 November - Bratislava (A)
Tuesday 22 November - Porto (A)
Wednesday 7 December - Inter (H)

Even the fixtures are looking good. Inter have to play their home games behind closed doors, and when they arrive at Ibrox for the final fixture, hopefully they'll have already qualified and will play a 2nd choice team.

Re: The Rangers 'CHAMPIONS' Thread

I hope so but to be fair the way itailian teams play away anyway we should be able to take points at Ibrox np, 6 agaisnt Bratislava ( tho we shouldnt underestimate them :p ) so realy it should b down to what we can do against Porto

Re: The Rangers 'CHAMPIONS' Thread

just in from the game thats it for mcleish as far as it goes for me
tactics shown up again today prso wide left just so thommo can get a run out ffs
4 up front gave the hibs free run of the midfield
continues to play people like lovenkrands and rae who just aint good enough no more
ricksen at right back is not good enough either
but well done hibs its good for scottish football that they can come away with 3-0 at ibrox might also show up our manager as the twit he is if more teams come with the same attitude as hibs
get mcleish out now
oh and any fans of his i think we have been rotten all season apart from prso and murray

i really fear for us in the champions league with these kind of baffling tactics from eck
artmedia will not be afriad of us never mind porto

Re: The Rangers 'CHAMPIONS' Thread

Its simple , McLeish is tactically inept, he really has no Idea of changing a side either when u win and want to rest players or are losing and want to add something. Most of the time it comes down to individuals playing out ther skin or a bit of luck the guy is an Idiot, and If I see Bob Malcom one more time then hope will surely dissapear. This is as good a time as any for another side in the spl to take the league , yes a little premature and tbh a lot of the season left but really whats to stop this Hearts, they have a decent team that if the play like there capable of can easily give Rangers and Septic a showing up . Very poor state of affairs and tactics like that again will only make it easier to lose the title and the CL dont even want to talk about it , we have a side that could challenge for second place but with a manager like that..........

Re: The Rangers 'CHAMPIONS' Thread

Well what baffles me is the fact he plays imo the best player (Ricksen) out of position, I mean yes he can play RB but anyone with a set of eyes will know that he is shit hot in the center of midfield.

Rangers buy too many flops, keep the same team for a season and see what you need, when was the last time they bought a RB?

I can just see Rangers in the CL, nevermind being 2nd, they will struggle to get 3rd atleast, Porto will cut them up in both legs.

Re: The Rangers 'CHAMPIONS' Thread

rumour is we are signing fowler this week
dont know what to make of that
maybe 5 years ago no doubt he will score goals in the spl and i think novo could do with some time on the bench

Re: The Rangers 'CHAMPIONS' Thread

Yea got no Idea why he would want to try players in different positions , makes no sense . Fowler IMO wouldn't be the greatest well see but im not so sure, a few years ago yea but not now a little past it. Rangers need a player with the speed of Novo and the team work of Dado as Novo is a ball greedy bstrd. Iv'e not been happy with him since the end of last season , also we still need a proper right back and maybe then the team would look more worthy of being in the CL

Re: The Rangers 'CHAMPIONS' Thread

Khizanishvili is off to blackburn it seems
Dragon is away as well thankfully
Soti is back

Re: The Rangers 'CHAMPIONS' Thread

Hopefully not
doubt we could afford his wages
zurab is away on loan to blackburn hope he does well
the greedy greek has signed a 1 year deal dont know why we need all these centre backs only Eck must know probably play them up front knowing him

Re: The Rangers 'CHAMPIONS' Thread

speak of this at the end of the season, its a marathon remember the great moment went Scott McDonald handed the title to the champions , we are the people and dont foget it, come back here next may.

Re: The Rangers 'CHAMPIONS' Thread

rangers are pish! we need to get rid of that useless twat mcleish - he is worse than sven...

Re: The Rangers 'CHAMPIONS' Thread

How many times is that Prso's been booked for diving now? I'd say more than a certain Mr Petrov...

Bad result tonight, where are all the folk who slagged Celtic for going out to Artmedia now eh? Porto and Artmedia away, and Inter at home - I'll be surprised if you get a single point in any of your remaining three games.

Re: The Rangers 'CHAMPIONS' Thread

i agree - tonight was a must-win game. rangers were brilliant first half, although they couldn't convert any chances. if they got one, they would have got 3 or 4 i reckon.

it's all over now, like cd says. they will get humped by porto and be lucky to get a draw against inter. out in bratislava they need a win, and hope inter win their next 2 games and field a weakened team at ibrox because they have already won the group...
