Rangers Thread

Re: The Rangers Thread - Inverness CT 1-1 Rangers

JAB is reported to be unhappy that Rangers have turned down the bid by Newcastle and he has a clause in his contract that if he is unhappy at Rangers he can leave he is reported to have said he dose not want to have to use it but will if he has to.

I think hes going even befoe he joined Rangers he said he was using Rangers as a stepping stone to the EPL a lot of players come to the SPL for this reason.

BOADC....i think ur right Rangers should be getting more for him but i think 8 mil it better than SFA.

If that's the case mate he's an arsehole cause he could have been playing for Liverpool and no doubt could have got a move to another team in the EPL before joining Rangers.

Anyway not looking good at the moment for Rangers. Maybe at least a point was too much to ask? I at least hope for a better performance in the 2nd half. The pitch is a fucking state too.

I'd tell them to stick it! I expect at least a season out of Boumsong and no less than £10m if they really want to sell. If they can sell an injury prone Woodgate for £13.4m then I'm sure £10m isn't a lot to ask for a French international.

I don't see why he'd want to join them anyway. If it was Arsenal or Chelsea, even Man Utd then fair enough but not Newcastle.
A couple of things worth considering are that Boumsong is not a regular in the France team, even after Thuram, Desailly and Lizarazu, 3 of their back 4, retired the manager hasn't chosen Boumsong. He's not a big part of their team just now nevermind a part of it when they were a world force. Put it this way, Michael Gray is an England international but that doesn't count for much! £8m for Boumsong is more than he's worth at this stage in his career, IMO.

Woodgate was sold for far too much I agree, but the EPL market is grossly inflated.

And you're out, booed off at the end too (or was that the ref  ). At least we played some good teams!

He might not start for them but he's always in the squad and I think that should he join a EPL club he would probably become a regular.

After watching his performance tonight though I'd agree with your first post and we should take the £8m right now!

It was a shocking performance all round.

Go on the Jambos!

Re: The Rangers Thread - Inverness CT 1-1 Rangers

Yep I would agree there, such as life tho as we got sold Viduka for £6m and he was being targeted for £13m+ at the height of Leeds' success, our league is pish!

It's embarrassing to say Hearts are our only team left in Europe...

Re: The Rangers Thread - Inverness CT 1-1 Rangers

Yeah it is but I hope they qualify.

Now my excuse that if Celtic win the league marginally, it was because Rangers had to contend with European football after Xmas, is gone. ;)

Ah I'm not looking forward to the rest of the season now. We might win the CIS Cup.

Re: The Rangers Thread - Rangers 0-2 Auxerre - Worst Performance EVER!

appalling, atrocious, awful, bad, crap, dire, distressing, dreadful, embarassing, frightening, ghastly, god-awful, grievous, grim, grody, guff, hideous, horrendous, horrific, lousy, rotten, shameful, shit, shocking, terrible, tragic

Thats the worst game I've ever been to. I'm so embarrassed and raging at the same time. The thing is, Auxerre never won; we fucked ourselves. I would have accepted the scoreline if we had been out-classed by a wonderful away team performance, but Auxerre are not even that good.

You'd think we'd have learned from the Inverness game that the short corners are shit and it proved that again tonight. From a Rangers corner, Auxerre score! For fuck sake! As for the second goal, the defence was infuriatingly woeful.

Arveladze played extremely shit as well. I don't think he understands the offside rule. Arsebag.

But for the whole match, nobody moved. The entire team stood still! What's the fucking point!? Every player should be fined a weeks wages for this. If they don't want to play then why the fuck should they get paid!?

As for Alex McLeish sending on Alex Rae in the 78th minute... he should have been on at half-time.

Re: The Rangers Thread - Rangers 0-2 Auxerre - Worst Performance EVER!

Everytime I see Rangers play they ALWAYS concede very early goals...

Before the game when they ask people who they think will win in the studio, I said to myself 2-1 for Rangers but Auxerre score within 10 minutes, and they did..

Rangers need to work on this, although Rangers shoulda played alot better...but I would say putting Ricksen into a RB position played a part in that..

Ah well..its Scottish football..what can you expect.

I agree with the short corner thing, what the f*** is the point?..they should just punt it into the box, after all they got Prso, Boumsong and Andrews in the box..

But yet again, Rangers always feck up the short corner shit, but will they stop doing it?...NOOOOOOOO, they do it over and over again..

And anyone know wtf happened to the Ibrox pitch?..its like a bomb hit the place.

Anyway..GG Rangers!! :applause:

Just to let you know, the reason is a guy called Peter Lovenkrands, he's always rolling about the pitch messing it up, tut, tut..............

Re: The Rangers Thread - Rangers 0-2 Auxerre - Worst Performance EVER!

Barry Freguson back at Rangers good for him and the club i think he relised that the grass is not always greener (excuse that) on the other side.

seen him on the news sayin that the crowds were poor when going to the likes of Old Trafford, Stamford Bridge of course nothing much beats scottish crowds.

Re: The Rangers Thread - Barry's Back!

Rangers are reportedly on the trail of Montpellier's African winger Fode Mansare.

The 24-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season and is unlikely to stay with the Ligue 2 side.

Re: The Rangers Thread - Celtic 0-2 Rangers - Bouncy!

Celtic 0-2 Rangers

A big thanks to Rab Douglas for his part in todays goals. What a great finish by Novo for the second. And last but not least, a big thanks to the whankers who think it's acceptable to throw lighters, coins and programmes at players. You've done Scottish Football proud once again.

Goals up in a bit.

Re: The Rangers Thread - Celtic 0-2 Rangers - Bouncy!

We arra people! I hope that the media slaughter the sellic fans tomorrow for it but you know that aint gonnae happen. It would though if it came from the gers support. Anyway TOP THE LEAGUE!!!

Cheers for the videos, listened to it on the radio.

One thing am no lookin forward to is when I watch the highlights on monday night an have to tolerate those numpties that present scotsport - its a bloody joke a tell ya

Regards,

A bear with a smile on his face.

Re: The Rangers Thread - Celtic 0-2 Rangers - Bouncy!

Foxy, might want to consider the fact those 'whankers' included Rangers fans who tossed the same items at Alan Thompson in the first-half.

truebluenose, will the media slate Ricksen for prolonged two-handed applause standing off the pitch in a Celtic corner of the ground in the same way they slated MON for applauding his fans on the pitch at Ibrox? Will they feck.

Re: The Rangers Thread - Celtic 0-2 Rangers - Bouncy!

Havent seen the footage classicd so couldnt comment. If i see the same stuff from the rangers end i apologise for singling out the ceptic support. At the end of the day though there were no dodgy decisions, wrongful penalties or anything of the sort. Rangers were the better team and the score reflected that.

By the way Im very saddened by the news that 2 fans have been murdered tonight - funny that this only happens when the ceptic lose.

Re: The Rangers Thread - Celtic 0-2 Rangers - Bouncy!

You haven't seen the footage so you can't comment? You have already commented - "I hope that the media slaughter the sellic fans tomorrow for it but you know that aint gonnae happen. It would though if it came from the gers support." :eh:

Hadn't heard about two fans being murdered, can't see anything on the news about this either. You also have a very short memory by saying it only happens when Celtic lose, a Celtic fan was murdered not far from Hampden by a Rangers fan with a crossbow within the past 3/4 years, after a match between the two sides at that venue. I think Rangers also won which makes it even more baffling.

Already said on the Celtic thread you deserved to win the game, and I agree there were no dodgy decisions that I can remember.

Re: The Rangers Thread - Celtic 0-2 Rangers - Bouncy!

Thats disgraceful Classic.

This is indeed a new low for yourself, how you can even begin to think that Rangers bribed officals in an attempt to win is beyond me. I've watched the match, twice in face. And the only thing strange that I saw took place, was the lack of fight from Celtic. They were totally outclassed by a much better prepared and hungry Rangers team. It is sickening to think that you believe the result was dictated by bribes. Shame shame shame on you Classic and all those that share you warped views.

I'm not talking about that game you arse, take yourself off to the funny farm.

Re: The Rangers Thread - Celtic 0-2 Rangers - Bouncy!

 Very good CD. Not sure what Spango is gibbering about.

Have to laugh, all we here about is how the best refs are described after a match as 'Not being able to tell who the ref was' or 'Great game, by the way who was the ref today?', but you always knows when the Dallas boy comes to town. Ably assisted by dumb and dumber it keeps happening, how he never saw Kyriagos (sp?) half Miller in two I'll never know, he's got perfect view of the incident and it wasn't off-the-ball. Then he yellow cards a player for punching another (it may have been intended for the ball, but he didn't exactly make contact properly with that).

Re: The Rangers Thread - Celtic 0-2 Rangers - Bouncy!

It's the worst news possible and now it's confirmed.

----------------------------------------------------

UMBRO, the global football brand, has today announced a new four-year kit deal with Scottish football giants, Rangers F.C. The agreement, which begins at the start of the 2005/06 season, renews a relationship which began in the 1960’s and continued through the 70’s and 80’s, a time that witnessed Rangers embarking on a sustained period of dominance within the domestic game.

The new partnership will see Rangers F.C. wearing the UMBRO brand on all of the Club’s playing and training product. The deal also sees UMBRO becoming the exclusive technical sportswear sponsor of Rangers FC.

Commenting on the announcement, Martin Prothero, Senior Vice President of Football at UMBRO, said,
"We are delighted to be renewing our relationship with one of football's biggest and most respected clubs, Rangers F.C. The partnership underpins UMBRO's on-going strategy of aligning ourselves with teams of global significance and further authenticates our position within football. Additionally , it will further support our international growth in the North American markets where Rangers traditionally has a strong support base. We are extremely excited at the prospect of working closely with the Club over the next 4 years."

Nick Peel, Rangers Retail Brand Director, added,
“I too am delighted with our new four-year deal with UMBRO, one of the world’s top three football brands. This deal, for an undisclosed seven-figure sum, will continue to see Rangers manufacture and distribute its own replica kit. We anticipate this ground-breaking initiative will deliver over £6.5 million to the Club per annum.”

A key and strategic element to the partnership is the development of the UMBRO and Rangers brands globally. UMBRO have secured distribution rights to all "Official" team replica kits and training products internationally as well as the rights to distribute a range of non-team merchandise both within the UK and Internationally.

Rangers will be responsible for the distribution of all “Official ” team merchandise within the UK , including their own retail stores.

The new home kit for the 2005/2006 season will be launched on May 12 th 2005 .

I suppose my lifetime boycott will have to be postponed for now

Re: The Rangers Thread - Hearts 1-2 Rangers - 4 year deal with UMBRO

The reason the deal is "undisclosed" is because it's not as much as Celtic are getting from Nike, if it was equal to or more than that it wouldn't be undisclosed. I also don't figure how it can be a "seven-figure sum" if you're planning on getting £6.5m "per annum" as over 4 years that would total £26,000,000.

:-s :^o

The likelihood is that £6.5m per annum that Rangers "anticipate" they'll make includes kit sales. Celtic get £5m up front per annum from Nike before kit sales are even added.

I know you ain't an Umbro fan Frazer, I thought I'd may as well make it worse.
