Nutmeg Named Monaco Boss

After weeks of speculation, former Deportivo Alavés manager Professor Nutmeg has been named the new boss at the Stade Louis II. Nutmeg replaces the sacked Francesco Guidolin. Professor Nutmeg's hunger for silverware and habit of securing European football seems to have been decisive factors in bringing him to the principality. The tactitian was believed to have also held talks with south coast rivals Olympique Marseille.
His contract will begin on 1st February 2006.

More news to follow....at some point...probably.

Good luck there, Prof., I always edit my ML Teams so they would play on the Stade Louis II, I love this stadium!!

Bit of a high profile team for you though, finally the recognition you deserve???

That all certainly helped.

I've always had a bit of a soft spot for Monaco in the ISSPE/PES games. I like the stadium and i never allocate it to any other team. I've liked a few of their players over the years too: The little Italian Marco Simone, Gallardo, the silver haired Jugovic, the bald Porato etc. All the squad bar one have call names in PES5, plus i've sorted the kits so that they look pretty good (i've gone with the red shorts and socks they've been wearing recently).

Back in PES3 or was WE6FE, i scored what i still regard as my best goal ever in a PES game with Zikos - one of those crosses turned shots, from the left flank (I think his stats were even worse then too). Sure some of the forwards now are a bit super by my standards (loved playing with Chevanton before he became good in the games though) but things could change under my management. There are some good mediocre players behind them though.

Anyway, i've gone to Monaco to win things. I haven't won the European cup since that fateful night in Dortmund (PES4) where i proudly won it with Cagliari. I want to win some silverware and then perhaps go on to a default ML later (Dodo and Co)

Oh yeah, and the lack of crowd in PES5 will be quite realistic at the Stade Louis II

Re: The All New PES5 Master League Thread.

It's been quite a a while since i won some European silverware too Prof...
As a matter of fact, the last time was in PES3 with Parma (the only time ever i won the treble).
In PES4 i played a European "CL" final with Real Sociedad, but i lost it against AS Roma.
With Wolfsburg i was in semi-finals and had lost the axway game against Barcelona with 2-1 when i erased that game from my memory card.
It will not be with US PALERMo that i will win a CL...i'm tempted with Wolfsburg (again) or AS Saint-Ettiene or Celtic (come to think of it, must be in a green-white mood).

Fenerbahce - US PALERMO 0-0
MOTM: Onder Turaci
A match with occasions on both sides but the defenders were always stronger than the attackers...

Next up is Standard de Liege - US PALERMO for CL qualification (although i would love to play the other Euro-Cup...never played it...)

Yeah that's one huge positive thing about this ML Prof isn't it? Now when you see stadium empty you won't get all pissed off and think unrealistic cuz I had even with playing with Les Verts and it was so unrealistic.. as I expected "Packed-atmosphere" full attendance and most loud fans in France (with Lens) but I got nobody showing up for my games

Now with Monaco that won't look so wrong!

Re: The All New PES5 Master League Thread.

Seeing as there's still time until the January transfer window closes, i've started another season (fifth) at Alavés. I'm going to see how it goes, although it's almost impossible to keep up with Barcelona and Real as they tend score about 4 to 5 goals a game. I did however bring in a 37 year old (and now 38 as the season has started) Henrik Larsson on a free from Barcelona. I also picked up Sverkos who has "nuclear" stats, so i'm seeing if they can do anything for me upfront.

Anyway, i kicked off the season with a 2-0 win over Getafe. My main man Wesley netting again from the midfield (this guy is certainly my fav PES5 player so far, i have a thing for left-footers and he's perfect behind strikers. I can see him going wherever i go) and a goal from Sverkos. If the season goes well, i'll stick it out, as i'd like to win a second trophy at Alavés before i depart.

Ah, Zikos! I remember signing him in a previous edition, in fact it might also have been PES3 (certainly either 3 or 2). He was a cracking little player for me, I partnered him with a holding midfielder and he developed an unnerving knack of arriving late in the box at exactly the right time.

Re: The All New PES5 Master League Thread.

Don't you just love those "fashionably late" arriving midfielders. I know i do :)

Nerf, i've been playing some exhibition matches with Monaco and the little fella appears to still be popping up in the box.

Re: The All New PES5 Master League Thread.

Nice to see you doing a ML in France Professor Nutmeg...i'm doing the same thing.

Are you starting in Div1 or Div2?

Re: The All New PES5 Master League Thread.

Hi Stringer. Well, i'll be treating this ML as a golden opportunity to win silverware, therefore i'm going to begin in Ligue 1. Just doesn't seem right on this occasion to start in Ligue 2.

I will however go back to starting in Div 2 come my following ML, when i will no doubt pick another minnow again.
I thoroughly recommend Alavés, however, to anyone wanting a small club in La Liga. I've been having a great time there.

anything to do with your formation at all? Maybe he's just one of those 'special players'. I remeber in PES4, Kilbanes cross stats were mediocre at best. But he just had the knack of whipping in dangerous crosses at the right height, accuracy and speed.

Cool, i'll also be starting in Div1 with my Auxerre ML.

I can image how my line-up is gonna look like already, if not PLF stats work might change it ;)

Might be Konami's secrect stats :spid:

Re: The All New PES5 Master League Thread.

Zikos isn't anything special, but you do get those players who just feel right. Indeed, some fantastic stat players can feel all wrong too, which kind of makes me wish there was a "trial" option in the Master League, perhaps during the negotiation periods?

Njord for example has forever been a "super sub" in my book since the first days of ML, due to his ability to turn a game. I also remember a midfielder called Mohamed Gouda from the Egyptian squad in PES3 (Some of you may remember me going on about him at the time). I bought him during my successful time in charge of Hertha Berlin as an OMF back up. His stats were pretty bad but he felt right. And don't forget stats didn't improve back then.

Likewise now, this chap Wesley at Alavés feels just right under my control. I found the best formation to suit/accomodate him (a nod to Db there). When i changed to this formation last season, he became the club top scorer that season, from midfield too. It's a 4-4-2 variation formation with a DMF on his own and three midfielders in sort of arrow head formation in front of him (all with attack arrows forward). Wesley is the AMF in the centre/tip of the arrow head. I think it might be 4-4-2 A1 or something closeby.

Good luck Proff. I must admit to being a tad suprised to see you take a "glamour" job, although you've certainly paid your dues over the years.

Perhaps IF Svensson ever gets Les Grenats up, you and he can meet up for a spot of blackjack in one of Monte Carlo's plethora of casinos.

You bring the wine and he'll bring the women!

Re: The All New PES5 Master League Thread.

Well I've come to a point in my ML where I've got the team that wins so often and lets in so few goals that its just got boring. So will be starting a new one in a different league, and will update you lot here.

Sociedad. Best eleven as follows:

------------Adjei-------------------
Aitor--Squilaci---Martinez---Illunga

-------------Mbami-------------------

-Izmailov-----------------Yeste (fab player)

--------------Dhorasoo---------------

----Nihat----------------------------

-------------------Benjani

Haven't thought of a team to use though. But I'll rule out Charlton and Benfica along with Everton, from previous campaigns

I hate the fact you can't move to someone else in the middle of a ML. That would be my one wish for ML in future versions. Along with having full domestic leagues, cups, proper Cl etc

French- Auxerre, Lille?
Italian- Lazio, Cheivo?
German- Bremen, Monchangladback?
Dutch- AZ?
ROW- Olympiakos, Rangers?

The positions "open" to me, and who have expressed and interest in me:lmao:

And will experiment with other formations, as I've used that 4-1-2-1-1 twice now to good effect. Seems to be my 'cheat formation'

This is so true. I seem to play better football with lower stat players as I try to keep on the ball and use my strongest players in my attack. Once you sign high stat players you almost expect to break teams down at will, but in this game you've still gotta play proper football.

Re: The All New PES5 Master League Thread.

I'm thinking about starting another ML too.
I'm currently at the 2008 season, and I think I'll play the 2009 season and then start another too.
I didn't think about my team yet, but I think I'll go with O.Marseille.

Re: The All New PES5 Master League Thread.

Think I've decided on taking Rangers to the top ;)

Will be interesting. Jeffers, Lovernkrands, Prso, Buffel and Ferguson, along with Ricksen are all players I like.

Had a practice game against Palermo which was suprisingly good. Palermo twice took the lead with some nifty, good footballing goals. But franny Jeffers scored a great glancing header with his back to the goal, from a Ricksen cross. And Jeffers again knocked in a tap-in after a scramble in the box from a corner.

Glasgow Rangers have finally found their new manager after Alex Mcleish's admission that he could take them no further. Peter Eyres, the 17yr old prodigy from London, who has enjoyed successful spells at clubs in the Uk and also on the continet. Eyres guided South-EAST London based Charlton to the Champions League and Two FA cup titles, whilst also taking Real Sociedad to the La Liga title and the Champions League Semi-Finals Stage.

Rangers fought off competition from clubs such as Newcastle, AZ Alkamaar, Lazio and Cheivo

Eyres is looking foward to nurishing talent and working with experienced players that Rangers offer.

Its rumoured that Eyres has been given 15,000 PES to spend on transfers in the upcoming transfer window, and that he may be prepared to bring in players that he has worked with in the past.

Eyres' playing style in previous jobs have emphasised wing play and possesion football.

Gers fans are said to be delighted, and optimistic for the clubs chances in the new Master League format

Matchday 1

Glasgow Rangers 3-1 Olympiakos

Jeffers, Prso, Fergurson (Pen)
Kyrigakos O.G

Eyre's first game in charge infront of a packed Ibrox crowd ended in a comftable win. Per Lovenkrands sliped through a pass midway through the first for Francis Jeffers to hit first time past a stranded Nikopolidis.

Per Loverkrands again found Dado Prso on the edge of the box. Jeffers blocked Kapsis well to allow time and space for Prso to strike a fierce shot into the right hand corner.

Midway through the 2nd half an a rare defensive mix-up in an otherwise comftable defence, got Olympiakos a shock goal.

Ranger's press to kill of the game, and eventually, Jeffers' neat footwork in the box resulted in a penalty after a trip from Schurrer. Up stepped the captain to send Nikopolidis the wrong way.

Barry Ferguson orchastrated much of Rangers play in the middle of the half, and won the MOTM award with a rating of 7.5

The potential partnership between Croat Dado Prso, and the rejuvinated Franny Jeffers will please Rangers fans.

Group D, Divison 2 Table:

Rangers 3pts
West Brom 3pts
Celtic 3pts
Cadiz 3pts
Depor Alaves 0pts
Wigan 0pts
Olympiakos 0pts
Pompey 0pts

Rangers Goalscorers:

Jeffers 1
Prso 1
Ferguson 1

Rangers Assists

Matchday 2

Glasgow Rangers 4-0 Wigan Athletic
Lovenkrands, Fegurson (2pen), Buffel

The Gers form continues with a home thrasing of Wigan Athletic.

Jason Roberts and Neil Mellor both missed early chances after slipping through a flat footed Rangers defence. And they were made to pay, when Franny Jeffers first time pass into the feet of Per lovenkrankds, was expertley shielded and dinkeD into the far corner after loosing his man.

Lovenkrands then won a penalty with a typical bursting run into the box. Fegurson made no mistake from the spot, blasting it straight into the roof of the net.

Later on, and Olivier Bernard cross from the left flank met the head of Thomas Buffel in the Six Yard box after loosing his marker. He couldn't miss from there.

Franny Jeffers then won another penalty, although he appeared to be outside the box. Ferguson stepped up and sloted to the left of the keeper, sending him the wrong way.

Whilst the Gers defence showed frailty. Ferguson and Hemdani bossed the midfield. Prso had a quite game, and was later subbed for Nacho Novo. Jeffers was a nuisance in the box and looks sharp.

Next Week, Rangers travel across Glasgow for a much anticipating Old Firm derby. Eyres is said to be looking foward to his first derby

Breaking News

Nutmeg in Monaco Switch Hoax?

It's been reported this morning that the supposed switch of Manager Professor Nutmeg from Alavés to Monaco could have been a hoax. French police have arrested a 32 year old man in connection with the dealings. It's thought the man may have posed as the aforementioned manager in order to syphon off a generous welcome payment from the principality side. Meanwhile, AS Monaco are said to very embarrassed about the whole situation, particularly after letting go former coach Francesco Guidolin. The real Professor Nutmeg has not yet been available for comment.
In the light of these events it's thought the tactitian will soon officially announce the club he will move to.

Matchday 3

Glasgow Celtic 0-2 Glasgow Rangers
Buffel, Ferguson (pen) :D

Eyres's first old firm game ended in a victory, but the scoreline was somewhat deceiving. Much of the game was bogged down in midfield, with rash challengers flying in. Only two shots on goal and Rangers took em both.

The Gers hit the hoops on a counter attack and Nacho Novo threaded a through ball into the path of a free Thomas Buffel, his first touch was timed to perfection, and took the ball round the defender, whilst quickly poking the ball slowly over the goal line.

A MOTM pefrormance from Jeffers won ANOTHER penalty for Rangers, the third such occasion in a row. Ferguson who previous completed 3/3, made it 4/4.

Whilst the entertainment was lacking, a vital three points for the Blue side of Glasgow, as they approach a crucial clash with second placed West Brom next week, back at Ibrox.

Matchday 4

Glasgow Rangers 2-2 West Bromich Albion

Ellington, Kyriakos
Earnshaw, Jeffers

A last minute goal from Francis Jeffers salvaged a point in a fierciely competitive. West Brom enjoyed much of the openings with Gera and Greening breaking through midfield. Gera got the the byline, a pulled back a low pass to the oncoming Ellington who shot first time into the top corner with a fierce drive.

A Barry Ferguson Corner was powerfully headed home by Kyriakos. But the Baggies struck back with Earnshaw unmarked at the far post, knocking in a Greening cross from the right. Rangers pushed for the equaliser, with the West Midlands team getting 10 men behind the ball. A neat one-two between Jeffers and sub Thompson (think hes left in real life?) breached the defence and Jeffers' run was time to perfection, dinking the ball over Kirkland.

In the post-match press confrence Eyres has indicated that he will be looking to bolster his defence in the transfer window. "Our defence lacks pace and desperately needs to work on our continuity in the back line".

MOTM:

FrancisJeffers_ITV.jpg

RANGERS FORMATION

------------Waterreus------------------
Ricksen---Rodriguez--Kryiagos---Bernard

----------Hemdani---Ferguson-----------

--Buffel-----------------------Lovenkrands

------------Jeffers----Prso------------

Full Backs get fowards, Buffel and Lovenkrands bomb down the flanks and are effective cutting inside. Prso holds up the ball and is a general nuisance in the box. Whilst Jeffers, well he's a nuisance, always has been. Makes good runs, but lacks in the finishing department. Although Eyres isn't complaining too much after his performance against the baggies.

Re: The All New PES5 Master League Thread.

I've finally realised why I keep getting penalties. I've got it on 6Star, and i don't know if you lot realise, but the AI is so agrressive in tackles and getting foward. You constantly have 3 ai players running after you. Will switch to Five Stars at the end of the season. What guys do you play on anyway?

Matchday 5

Glasgow Rangers 3-1 Depor Alaves

Thompson, Aloisi, Jeffers (2) (Ferguson misses penalty)

Another game at Ibrox and the gers start well with lovenkrands pass picking out the run of Thompson, who toe pokes the ball past the on-rushing keeper and into the top corner. Alosi heads in a cross from Wesley just before half time, leaving Rangers with plenty to do.

Shorty after the restart and a Mazy Bernard run is stopped illegally by Pelligrino. Fergurson steps up and hits the post.

Hemdani is really starting to develop playing the more attacking role from midfield

Jeffers skips past a defender and slots the ball in the bottom corner. And a few minutes later, a one-two with Thompson set Jeffers through who hits it first time to the near post.

MOTM:

71984.jpg

Matchday Six

Cadiz 1-3 Rangers

Nacho (3), Estoyanoff

MOTM: Hemdani again

Round One (D2 Cup)

Portsmouth 0-2 RANGERS

Jeffers (2)

MOTM: Jeffers

MY TEAM:
Since this is going to be my last season at 1.FC Köln, I want to bring some silverware to the club. This season I won the Cup, and for the next one, I expect at least 2 more trophies in Köln's Trophy room. For that to happen, I released all the players that I wasn't using, since I changed back to 3-5-2. In the winter break, I received the news that my GK Alexander Bade was going to retire at the end of the season, so I sined in a 17-year old Santiago Cañizares. Insua is a good AMF, and from the moment that he entered the eam, he got the position in the startin XI. Sun Xiang is a fast SMF and has good FK and Curling stats.
Ryan Smith is the sub that I didn't have last season. Élton and Leadbitter are 2 young DMF and CMF, and will do good in the 2nd team. Since I play with 3 CBs, I needed another one, to make sure that I could build two teams and still have one left. And finally, Alou Diarra is a very solid DMF with great defensive stats, and he can play in the CB position, if I need an in-game replacement. This are going to be my teams:
League XI - Almunia; Calssen-Bracker, Matip and Benschneider; Alou Diarra, Väyrynen, Insua, Mariano G. and S.Xiang; Larsson and Love.
UCLQualifiers XI - Cañizares; Simic, Alpay and Pablo; Schindzielorz, Leadbitter(Élton), Ânderson, R.Smith and Lovenkrands; Inzaghi and Madsen

THE LEAGUE:

1 - Werder Bremen - 59pts
2 - Bayern München - 55pts
3 - Stuttgart - 54pts
4 - Leverkusen - 49pts
5 - Feyenoord - 48pts
6 - 1.FC Köln - 46pts 12W 10D 8L 36GS 27GC

Well, this years league was pretty good, IMO. I managed to beat Bayern München 1-0 in the Olympiastädion, and, again, I reached a spot in the UCLQualifiers. Nothing more to say ;)

THE CUP:

HAHA!!! The 2nd trophy to Köln's trophy room! My team was pretty solid, and the "home factor" was very important, most of my results I obtained at home. The final was fantasic, I beated Bayern München 3-0 at San Siro. Here is my path to the title:
3-2 Borussia Dortmund
2-0 Stttgart
2-0 AZ
3-0 Bayern München
Top Scorer: Inzaghi

uefachamplogo5le.jpg
Uefa Champions League:
uefachamplogo5le.jpg

6 games played. 1W. 0D. 5L. This was my campaign in the qualifying phase of hte UCL. My group was: AS Roma, Arsenal, Internacional-RS and me. I beated Internacional 3-0 at home in the 1st round, and then came the losses. In the final game I was paying Arsenal home nad, if I won, I would go to th next phase. Inzaghi scored at 2' with a fantastic shot from waaaay outside of he box. Than, Arsenal equalised at 4', took the lead at 14' and scored another at 40'. Bad fisrt season :(

Re: The All New PES5 Master League Thread.

Pedro, i also bought Insua for my US PALERMO team...
I play him as a SMF (much injuries), i like him very much...that's the second player that we have in common (Mariano Gonzalez and Insua).

US PALERMO LOOSES VITAL CL MATCH AGAINST STANDARD:

Standard de Liège - US PALERMO 2-1
(2' Cavenaghi, 75' Wamberto, 87' Moreira)
MOTM: Moreira.

Big disappointment in the US PALERMO team after their loss in the vital match against Standard.
Jean-Marc Bosman was devastated: we lost a match that we should have won by a large margin. We dominated Standard for 75 minutes and lost it all in the last 15 minutes. By then we should have a 3 goal difference.
The Sicilian team took the lead after barely 2 minutes. Giuseppe made the first of many devastating raids down the right side, centered and Cavenaghi's header went in goal.
Understandably, Standard was shell shocked and Palermo continued to dominate with a star performance by side midfielder Bonanni. Cavenaghi (3 times), Makinwa, Corini, D'Agostini and Insua all missed sitters or found a fantastic GK Runje on their path to goal.
After 70 minutes Gerd DK made a very uninspired substitution: Pepe for Bonnani and soon Standard became the better team. Portugese winger Almani Moreira destroyed Palermo with an assist which led to a Wamberto goal (a header!!!) and late in the match he scored the winner after a beautiful dribble...
At the post match press conference Gerd DK and Bosman were both devastated. They lost an all important match against a team which means much to them: Bosman is from Liège and DK is the former Standard coach. DK took the blame for the loss: "I should never have substituted Bonnani, but he seemed a litle bit tired..."

Bye Bye Champions League.

Re: The All New PES5 Master League Thread.

Gerd, is that the Cavenaghi from the PES shop?

Db, i see Metz have brought in a couple of strikers (irl) Piminov (Lokomotiv Moscow) and Youga (Besiktas) as well as letting Ahn go to Duisburg. Is your interest in Mbesuma hotting up? He looks pretty unsettled at Pompey. :)

Re: The All New PES5 Master League Thread.

That's Cavenaghi from the PES shop...because he's Argentinian i had to have him in the mid-season of my first season...he was not a success, but now he gets better...
Palermo have great forwards with Cavenaghi, Caraciolo, Makinwa and Bouchouari (which i made myself and who is probably overrated).
