PES5 ML Thread (see new PES6 thread)

Re: The All New PES5 Master League Thread.

Sicily is nice, but life can be a litle bit complicated...there are certain rules to follow for your sanity.

Rule number one: avoid the village of Corleone.
Rule number two: have good results, but not too good.
Rule number three: beware of old men...
Rule number four: watch out for young ladies certainly in the vicinity of old men.
Rule number five: la mama's kitchen is the best.
Rule number six: a hunting accident happens frequently, so don't go hunting.
Rule number seven: don't get attached to horses (not even Rock of Gibraltar).
Rule number eight: all the referees are biased in favour of Juventus and Milan.

Ps: sorry to be off-topic.

Nice nice website we're looking at for your Metz ML DB ;)

It's gonna be I think a legendary ML much like your Maritimo one I anticipate.

I'll be done French league by tomorrow or max on Wednesday so I will send you file so you can start your Metz ML when you get time during break ;)

Oh and Stan, I really like the way you write now! Keep going like that (and the others to of course! :)

Actually in this new version GFK I found some Japanese players who are under-rated as well.

Another example is Daisuke Matsui of Le Mans who is having great season as attacking midfielder/winger and deserves higher stats.

Re: The All New PES5 Master League Thread.

Olympiakos Piraeus - US PALERMO 1-1
(Fernando Cavenaghi - Castillo)
MOTM: Corini (once again)

Once again US PALERMO had an unsatisfying draw. But results does not mean everything. US PALERMO played an excellent match in Athens port.
Olympiakos had only one shot on goal during the match: an unfortunate counter gave promising Argentinian forward Castillo the chance to score and he did not miss it. Ten minutes before that the Sicilian outfit had taken the lead with the kind of goal that is typical for them this season: a through ball from Corini to SMF Bonnani, a rush down the right side of the pitch and a centre with pin point accuracy finished by another young Argentinian striker.

All this happened in the first half. The second half was more of the same: a dominating US PALERMO. Unfortunately Belgian GK Erwin Lemmens played a superb match.

At the post match press conference Gerd DK and Jean Marc Bosman proved to be satisfied with the performance of the team. Bosman was reported saying: "this is promising for the matches that follow, we can build on this excellent performance."

And indeed it was:

US PALERMO - Sampdoria Genoa 1-0
(Grosso)
MOTM: Mutarelli.

Once again the Palermo fans saw a match were their team dominated throughout the match. Once again it looked like this would not result in a victory. Once again they faced a outstanding GK. But this time things took another turn. In a match that looked as though it went for a stale mate manager Gerd DK made an inspiring substitution. After sixty minute he replaced veteran midfield maestro Corini by Mutarelli. This Mutarelli proved to be the man of the match.

In one of his first actions he played perfect through ball to Makinwa who would have been bound for glory if a genovese defender had not brought him down. The subsequent red card meant the en of Sampdoria's perfect defensive organisation. From then on the Genovese wall disintegrated and what followed was a free kick festival from specialist Grosso. Three subsequent attempts nearly went in. But in the 89th minute Grosso fianlly curled a ball in goal from 31 metres.

The Sicilian fans were deligthed with the win and the team is in the winning mood after another splendid performance.

US PALERMO are currently 7th in the ranking.

Re: The All New PES5 Master League Thread.

For which team does Eliakwu play IRL Prof??? I've never heard of him...

US PALERMO - As Roma 0-O
A real cup match (although not in the cup) with two attacking teams, but in the end the GK's were the heroes of the day.
Assistent-coach Jean-Marc Bosman was a happy man after the match: "we played a good match against a good team and our unbeaten run continues..."

Next match is against Panathinaikos in Athens.

Re: The All New PES5 Master League Thread.

Hello everyone, really enjoying all of your stories. So much so that I will now undertake my own.

TOMAS A BLACK CAT

Mick McCarthy has openly stated that he doesn't envy new Sunderland manager Ludo Tomas. After taking the Black Cats straight back down into the Championship, McCarthy was relieved of his duties and resumed his career as the most monotonal pundit of all time.

Tomas is left with McCarthys' squad and will be unable to strengthen until the January transfer window.

Sunderlands full squad list can be found at:

http://www.safc.com/team/?page_id=2623

With the season just around the corner and Sunderland facing Celtic at the Stadium of Light in the season opener, Tomas has a very short time to end Sunderland's losing streak after a shocking season in the top flight.

One for the future gerd. My scouts know where to look ;)
He's an Inter owned Youth player. He's moved around Serie A a bit. Originally at Reggiana youth team, he then moved to Inter youth, then he moved with Zicu to Parma for a bit when Adriano moved back to Inter (part of a deal) then he was loaned to Ascoli in 2004 and now he's at Triestina. He may well emerge like Martins did in the future.

you know what chaps, I was beginning to think that this ML wouldnt be as much fun as the last one primarily I think as I've got no personal emotion tie/involvement with the club.

however after that first game against Kaiserslautern and now I've begun getting to know the squad, I think that it'll be fine. The squad is actually a bit too big (although with Konami's hideous implementation of fatigue I'll need all 28 of them!) but does have a good mix of young and old players and every position is doubled up.

despite one or two exceptions the players are all fairly mediocre which is great, and with Wimbee at 34, i think finding either a replacement or pushing one of the other 3 chaps into the number 1 spot will be my first task.

overall I think i'm going to try and keep transfers to a bare minimum, but i can exclusively reveal (even the official website is in the dark about this!) that I will be tracking a certain african whose failed to make any impact down on the south coast ....

Re: The All New PES5 Master League Thread.

db, i played a ML with Metz in PES4 and IMHO opinion they had a couple of very good players...maybe that has changed in PES5...
Konami's implementation of fatigue is not realistic, but to me it makes the game more enjoyable. In my Palermo ML i have a rather small squad (23 players i think, well actually that's not so small)and it's really difficult to find players who are good enough to play. Things get very complicated when certain players have international duties (they always come back exhausted which is maybe exaggerated but which IMHO is a nice feauture) and when there are mid-week matches. I don't know what i'm gonna do if Palermo should qualify for Europe (which is a possibility since they are 7th and in the semi's of the Cup).

I'm looking forward to your stories...

That could even be his sister lol....nah i think thats probably his wife.

Penbe is better than Swerts, but i don't want to keep starting him, because i rather give Swerts starts, since his young and can improve....hard to explain what i mean.

Also Penbe's got a sweet left foot though when taking freekicks...his got a freekick style number 7...think i've mentioned that before.

Hey DB,

I must say I'm glad you're getting that nice cozy related feelinga bout Metz too just because I'm so interested in hearing your ML stories now that you're having pretty much accurate data (position/stats/special stars everything) not only for your team but also every other French one you face right down to Ajaccio's bench. So I know this will be the story I'm interested in most  because it's likely that the real youngsters who've been catchin the eye this year in Ligue 1 will again be showing off in media of your ML story instead of being crappy and under-rated like Kamel Chafni just to name 1 from the hell that was Ajaccio or Tulio Del Melo the 19 year old CF of Le Mans could be a signing for Metz maybe if Le Mans relegated as he's now actually a descent player and one with bright future instead of crippity crap

Obviously even famous players of each team like Monterrubio, Fanchone, Sable, Feindouno, Piquionne all were wrong but then good youngsters like Yoann Gourcuff of Rennes or Loic Perrin (whom I think SB had in one of his earlier games and I really like this guy, could become very good player) were totally wrong. Also have you looked at Mikael Pagis stats?? It seems Konami think he's a different player lol. They've over-rated his speed and not enough in balance and heading haha it's funny and Isabey has 80GK ability and wrong stats  and finally some positions outright wrong. Hosni, Strasbourg's new Egyptiant Anchorman signing is a CF in game!

Anyways you get the point ;).

About Wimbee, I personally wouldn't get rid of him. He's a good shot stopper and your vice captain probably as he's got loads of experience and he always demands the best from his team and especially defendres and if they're not keeping up to task, he lets them know about it by constant yelling as he wants Metz to if even lose to at least play up to their potential!

And at 34 for a GK position, I don't think you're really too old to be thinking of replacements in case he's playing badly in which case that's a different story. A GK like him could be there for 3 more glorious seasons at Metz so I don't really think he needs immediate replacement for you to be thinking about now (maybe next season, you can review his work for season and decide if a 35 year old Wimbee should continue in middle of posts for you or not) but then again you're the boss so you do as you want ;)

Heracles Almelo Master League Season 2009 (End of Season)

website_heraclestwente0-4_40.jpg

Things get out of hand in an important match against Twente, for Heracles.

N.C.E. Super League Div2

Well I managed to slip up later on in the season, I drawn to many matches. The second to last game against Twente was my pivotal moment. I had to win that match to have a chance to getting promoted in the last game of the season. But I drawn the match 2-2, which was an intense game…Twente was playing like nutcases for some reason! Well that’s another season in Div2 for me.

League Table
4. RBC Roosendaal....28
1. Roda JC..............27
2. FC Koln..............22
3. Heracles Almelo....20
6. FC Groningen.......18
5. FC Twente...........17
7. RKC Waalwijk.......13
8. Vitesse..................5

League Top Scorer: Hanke (Roda JC) 9
League Top Assister: Loumpoutis (FC Twente) 4

N.C.E. Div2 Cup

For a shit team, I surprised they won the league and nearly beat me in the Semi-finals. Then first-leg ended in a 0-0 draw. In the second-leg was they went 2-0 up in the first half…didn’t even have a shot on goal…then in the second, I changed my formation to a 4-4-2, put Cziommer and Calincov on and managed to score two goals through Hirayama to make it 2-2 and I was through to the finals.

Semi-Finals
FC Koln 0-5 Roda JC
Heracles Almelo 2-2 RBC Roosendaal

This is my fourth final in a row and I’m glad to say I’ve finally won it. Was a bit lucky though…I won it by a single goal, the goals scored was an own goal by Kujovic after Calincov crossed the ball in from the left and he ran into accidentally and scored. Anyways I had a decent game had a couple of chances here and there…Roda never really threatened. Hirayama was voted the best player of the competition and was top scorer with 4 goals.

Final
Roda JC 0-1 Heracles Almelo

Cup.jpg

Captain Jansen lifts up the candid NCE Div2 Cup.

Players

Player that made the most impression this season was Penbe, despite coming on as a substitute in a lot of the games he was really exciting to play with especially as WB….and his free-kick style is 8) . Also Cziommer ended the season with 3 goals and 3 assists, not bad for his first season…he made a difference to my team when he played in that AMF position, the bad thing about him is he can‘t play a full 90 minutes without getting really tired….I usually have to sub him of around the 65 to 70th minute mark. Also Tamerus finished with his highest goal tally so far…………….6 goals, the second half of the season was a bit of a short fuse for him! Also Calincov and Quansah was excellent on the wing and the rest of the boys played respectable.

Transfers

IN:

Baszczynski (Wisła Kraków) --------> Heracles Almelo – 2700 (2 year contract)

Baszczynski is a Right-back that I brought to the club as a backup for Jansen. He is a 33 year old Polish Int’l…there’s nothing to special about him. His stand out ability is his stamina (81) and his marking ability. Still he should be a decent player to play now and again.

OUT:

-None-

Team Salary: 9774

@Stan, do you get good coverage of Eredivisie in Belgium or just the big team's matches?

Re: The All New PES5 Master League Thread.

Well PLF we have cable and i can see the DUTCH television (NOS). To be honest i'm not much of a television watcher. I have a deal with my family that i can watch the sunday evening live match of the Jupiler League, but the television is for the wife and kids in prime time...so no Dutch, French, Italian, Spanish football for me. Every saturday nigth i watch Match of the Day...

THE OLD WARRIOR HAS FINALLY SCORED:

Panathinaikos - US PALERMO 0-1 (Corini)
MOTM: Corini (who else???)

Seldom have one seen the elation that surrounded the US PALERMO team in Athens after the match against Panathinaikos.US Palermo once again have won a match with splendid football. Hero of the night was the man who never scores, the old warrior 35 year old Corini.

Once again Palermo were the better team in a match they dominated totally (64% of ball possession), but once again it looked as though they would not score...until their veteran midfield general infiltrated in the box and scored a goal that was an example of his determination.

In the 85th minute Panathinaikos threatened to equalise when Olisadebe was through. Terlizzi cynically "stopped" him and was sent off...but with 10 against eleven Palermo still were the better team.

Palermo's techical staff Gerd DK and Jean-marc Bosman payed tribute to the nigth's hero, a couple of quotes from the press conference:

"This man leads by example"
"He gets better every year"
"Please don't stop playing"
"He's the youngster's hero"
"The balls and brains of the team"

US Palermo are currently sixth in division one, the team who was doomed for relegation could play in the CL.

Re: The All New PES5 Master League Thread.

hmm damn that kinda sucks, I know i couldn't live like that lol I don't watch much TV apart from my addiction (football) either but I watch sometimes something like 18 matches in a week! and about 4-7 on avg in a weekend If I'm not out for most of it.

Anywyas keep the Palermo story coming, it's getting intersting.

Surprises in Empoli

An emergency press conference was called at the Empoli training ground this morning where President Fabrizio Corsi and Director of Football Stefano Calistri announced that due to poor pre-season results they no longer had faith in coach Mario Somma to maintain their Serie A status in the forthcoming season and had therefore terminated his contract.
The timing of the announcement was surprising with the season start only days away and equally surprising as Somma had led Empoli back into the top division the previous season and was highly regarded in the game for his fine motivational and man management skills.

128qp.jpg

yesterday’s man, Mario Somma

Just when the assembled media had got over the shock of the first decision, President Corsi announced that he had already found the Tuscan minnows a new coach who would start immediately, he said the coach John Turnbull was on a plane as he speaks, flying over from England.
The name John Turnbull drew blank expressions from the Italian journalists, Filippo Ricci from Corriere Dello Sport asked President Corsi if he thought putting the responsibility of the Empoli’s survival into the hands of an unknown Englishman was a very risky strategy and what did he think the fans response would be to this news, the President replied he had full confidence in Turnbull and even though he’s never set foot in Italy before, he was a student of the Italian game and knew it very well and appealed to the fans to give him time to settle in.

hmm.. lol I see so Mr. Svensson basically wants to give some of the veterans and respected (older) players of squad a hard time or axe them to show who the daddy is!

And yeah you're right about so much reponsibility on his shoulders lol time and time again I've watched Wimbee literally CRY this season lol or last because even though they'd lose maybe 2-0 or 3-0 they would have lost 10-0 if it wasn't for his reflexes and miraculous saves at times and it's so fun to see him with that angry/disappointed expression on his face where he's basically telling his defence: "What the F*** is wrong with y'all! Why you sleeping during the match? "

It makes me feel sorry for him and hey maybe this is a good thing for him. With so much stress in past 2 years perhaps he'll find a nice new club where theyr'e better organized and he can relax a bit more and enjoy his football again! :)

@JeffT, John Turnbull huh? :D anyways it's about time you joined us here ;). Looking forward to your Empoli adventure just hope it's not too easy for you as we spoke and you actually get a nice challenge out of it this time around :).

Re: The All New PES5 Master League Thread.

New Man Flies In

John Turnbull, the man appointed new coach of Serie A newcomers Empoli finally touched down at Pisa airport in Tuscany this evening.
Turnbull was met by quite a large number of the waiting media who became very frustrated when it appeared the Englishman spoke no Italian whatsoever. After several minutes the welcoming committee from Empoli arrived and an impromptu press conference of sorts was held in the airport lobby with Director of Football Calistri acting as a translator.

buzzscrum0405207fm.jpg

an Empoli director tries to bring some order inside Pisa airport

Turnbull said at the press conference that he was very much looking forward to getting to work and couldn’t think of a better way to start the season than a Tuscan derby against local rivals Livorno in a couple of days time, he also realised that the priority was maintaining the clubs Serie A status while working within the tight budget that the Empoli board set.
Turnbull was also asked whether he would struggle to get his points across to the players because of the language barrier, he replied that he was keeping all the present staff on at the club because he needed their knowledge of the individual players but understood if they wished to leave in the future to join up with his predecessor Somma at another club, as for the language barrier, he said he was confident of getting his instructions across to the players even if he had to resort to using pen and paper, with that said, Turnbull left the airport knowing without any doubt that he was now in the media goldfish bowl that was Italian football.

Fans Feel Experience was Needed

Turnbull’s appointment has been met with a muted response among the Empoli faithful, Daniele Carbone, spokesman for the Empoli left-wing ultras group “Rangers 1976” said he was very surprised at the decision to sack Somma and thought that if Somma wasn’t the right man to keep Empoli in the top flight they would be better off going for an experienced coach like Carlo Mazzone or Nevio Scala rather than some unknown Englishman, he added that Turnbull has a lot of work to do to win over the supporters.

Re: The All New PES5 Master League Thread.

US PALERMO AGAINST JUVENTUS IN ITALIAN CUP FINAL:

But first things first:

US PALERMO - Fenerbahce 1-0
(Makinwa)
MOTM: Makinwa.

Once again a very good match by the Sicilian outfit. Nigerian forward played and outstanding match, together with the inevitable Corini. In the first half Rustu denied Makinwa from the goal of the season with a super save. Palermo continued with their attacking play. It is typical that they only succeeded to score deep in the second half after another beautifull pass from their veteran star Corini, Makinwa finally scored the winner he deserved.

Next was the second leg of the Coppa semi-final against Udinese. Udinese had won the first leg with 2-1.

US PALERMO - Udinese 1-0
(Carraciolo)
MOTM: Simone Barone.
Manager Gerd DK has preferred a rather cautious approach for this second leg. US PALERMO played less offensive as usually. This attitude showed much respect for the Friuli team. In the first half both teams were equal to each other.
At the beginning of the second half Udinese clearly was the better team but Palermo were lucky to avoid goals. The fact that Corini could not play due to a light injury was obvious. But deep in the second half Bouchouari set up a beautifull move with Brienza and Carraciolo scored in the 89th minute.

Palermo play the final against Juventus, the only team that has beaten them twice this season.

After the match Jean-marc Bosman said that he felt sorry for Udinese. "We have played four times against this team during this season and they are clearly betten than we, but somehow we ended up eliminating them and they are behind us in the serie A too...we have much respect for this team. We consider this the strongest team after both Milan teams and Juventus".

Internazionale - US PALERMO 0-0
MOTM: Samuel.

A very good which had everything to please except goals. Inter goallie Toldo and Samuel played a fantastic match against a PALERMO team that played very clever. San Siro has a big pitch and they took full use of it with clever passing. Toldo denied Cavenaghi a few times from a goal.
The Inter team had only two shots on goal...

Once again Corini was the outstanding player of PALERMO.
At the beginning of the season it was supposed that this would be his penultimate season, but Corini clearly hesitates. Fans have started a petition to include Corini in the Italian World Cup Squad. Coach Lippi when interviewed by the RAI, agreed that Corini is one the best players in Serie A.

The ranking:

1 Milan
2 Juventus
3 Inter
4 Lazio
5 AS Roma
6 Udinese
7 Galatasaray
8 Sampdoria
9 Panathinaikos
10 Udinese
11 Parma
12 Fenerbahce
13 Fiorentina
14 Messina
15 Livorno
16 Olympiakos

An emergency press conference was called at the Empoli training ground this morning where President Fabrizio Corsi and Director of Football Stefano Calistri announced that due to poor pre-season results they no longer had faith in coach Mario Somma to maintain their Serie A status in the forthcoming season and had therefore terminated his contract.
The timing of the announcement was surprising with the season start only days away and equally surprising as Somma had led Empoli back into the top division the previous season and was highly regarded in the game for his fine motivational and man management skills.

Welcome aboard the good ship ML mate :ram:

It's a bit of a motley crew with several scurvy seadogs, but i'll blister my barnacles if you don't enjoy your time here.

Only thing you're missing is an Avatar! that's what seperates us jolly rogers from those land lubbering locals.

Hi Stan,

That's harsh although a consequence of married life i guess :(

I don't get to watch as many games as i'd like for similar reasons (well not the kids part!) although two tv's and two sky subscribtions made things easier in the past.

Do you get Eurogoals on Eurosport over there ? That's the best way to catch up with all the action although they only seem to be showing one random Serie A game this season.

hmm.. lol I see so Mr.
