Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

- The journalist can’t stop playing, always asking for “one last game, one last game.” Would play until his fingers bled!

Assuming this statement is true of 2010, I hope everybody else feels a little more excited now.

Tactics on freekicks? Sweet!

considering that my eyes bled after 1 match of 2009 i am more than happy with bleeding fingers this time. :SMUG:

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

When date will the next bit of info come out? something like what teams are included in the Europa League liscence?

I'm just hoping my teams licensed lol

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Also while speed and balance is somewhat over compensated in PES my main gripe with FIFA is that attributes dont seem to play a big enough part in differentiating players - It is usually speed and thats it.

I don't know, the reason PES was so great at recreating player individuality was a combination of scriptedness in the passing and the fact that some stats are more exaggerated, like speed and balance to name a couple. Everything just melded together so well from PES3 to PES6. Also, don't forget the special stars that give certain characters just that extra little bit of individuality. FIFA made speed outrageously unbalanced in 09 though, and I know people know what it feels like to go 1-nil down because someone got a hold of a really fast runner and just beat you with FIFA's unrealistically floaty shots after just sprinting up half the pitch in 3 seconds flat. Also I hate how FIFA makes the base characters play so well, it just blurs the line between average and world class even more.

What seems to be needed is just an evolution in the stats system, and I've been thinking about this one for a while. Maybe we just need more differentiation in how players are represented in terms of speed, strength, technique, etc.

If it's very good at 60%, whats it going to be like at 100% if most of it is gameplay tweaks and balancing, graphics improvements ie rendering effects and new animations that will be added?

Getting a bit optimistic here but we may get a pes that we really like!

ps i still play pes 2009 alot so anything will make me happy :-P

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

I think there is not very much news from that French magazine. Only a few new details ( bicycle-kick for a defender? What kind of news is that?! ).
There must be a lot more REAL news to make me happy. This is peanuts.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

I'm hoping they spend more time of generic player animations rather than the star player moves. Shooting, passing, tackling etc all take priority over Ibrhimovich doing a flip flap

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

im not buying the 60% completion thing. Not this year. Dont care what WENB has to say.

i dont make gaming software, but i guess at this time of year, gameplay is untouchable, with the 40% being all the artwork, online, debugging, etc..

Anyway, the series seems to be lifting up after two bad years, so for me is enough if pes2010 shows a positive trend.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

At 60% complete everything should be locked down, the feature list closed, what's gonna be put in or not etc but stuff like gameplay tweaks will be done all the way to the gold disc. Hopefully.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

News from Jeux Video Network, Interview with Satoshi Suzuki, the man in charge of animations/motion capture (You know who to shoot incase you ain't satisfied now ):

- A lot of Japanese professional footballer do motion-captures too, not only Messi
- Complete mo-caps sessions 1 time each week in Japan studio
- Some Japanese players try to same moves like big stars and when isn’t perfect the designer make it better.
- Animations is one of big priority for PES2010
- Satoshi Suzuki is project leader for animations

Credit goes to ThomasGOAL for his translations

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Good news about the animations... if only the Bundesliga is there, even unlicensed...

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

The graphics of last pics looks BRILLIANT, but I hope We will have finally Untucked Shirts, or Nets without sandbags :D:D.
You said "the animations are poor, like in 2009" (some of you, at plural form).
Remember, the Motion Capture isn't fully implemented yet, so the animations should be improved soon.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

It still seems as if they're not adding lower-league teams - Konami need to understand that there's a lot of people who aren't plastic fans and actually support their local teams, and want to play as them on the game.
Admittedly there's a bigger market for those plastic fans who support a team in a city they've never lived in and have hardly been to any of their matches but claim to be a "fan" of the team, and then use the old "well i've supported them all my life" bollocks, twats... anyway, enough of the ranting on glory hunters :P.

I'd be a lot more likely to buy PES if I could actually play as the team I support (Coventry) in a proper league structure with the player attributes well researched.

There's more to football than the matches between teams full of superstars, which are the only ones where PES shows it's main good point - player individuality.
In the matches between not-so-good teams, most of the players seem to play the same (slow, can't hit simple passes with consistent power, can't shoot etc.), unless a player has a big reputation and has played for a top team before in their career the attributes they have on PES just seem like guesswork, like the people who set the attributes have never seen the player play.

How can some judge running animations from scans, it's beyond me.Why not actually wait for real gameplay footage ?

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

I'm blown away by the new defensive bicycle kick.

Consider me sold! :D

It's strange but you actually can, the main point being the picture of the players from a bit of distance, the defender chasing the man in possession, clearly the same animation thats been there for the last 4-5 years, the Michael Johnson running motion. :FAIL:

I feel that I must point out that Konami makes PES.

Including every Premier League team is a god damned miracle in all honesty. They only really focus on getting the big teams right, anyone outside of Europe they don't give a soggy shit about.

Case in point, Portsmouth. Admittedly our promotion team wasn't going to win the Prem, but we did top the table at one point and had a relatively successful debut season. But yeah, fair enough, I'm sure they had to assume that we were relegation favourites.

Now 7 years later, after we won the FA Cup, had a European tour, had AC Milan down 2:0 in said European tour, signed world famous players like Campbell, Defoe, Crouch, etc. I would expect that we would have a smidgen of recognition for these accomplishments. Hell, we even beat Liverpool in that Champions of Asia trophy. We beat a globally surported team, in Asia, right infront of their face.

Yet no, we are apparently shit and everything that we have gone through these past years has been a figment of my imagination. In reality we are a step below Boro and Fulham, meandering from season to season, hoping that the direness of football on display does't lead to a significant portion of season ticket holders commiting suicide.

Seriously though, every single one of our players is rated the same. There is no discernable difference between Niko Kranjcar (whose god damned awesome and loin-wettingly beautiful) and Richard Hughes. That is unforgivable - Hughes can't get a game for Scotland and Kranjcar is a key part of a very skilled Croatian team. Looking back to the PES3/4 days, you had Ivica fucking Mornar being of similar ability as that of Yakubu. The fact that you don't have a clue who Mornar is is a good enough indication of how woefully inept Konami are at using anything other than a dartboard to discern player's ability.

I remember the dark days when Gary O'Neil and Matty Taylor were the only bright sparks amongst a squad containing Giannis Skopelitis and Azar Karadas. I know what it's like to rely on 2 good players literally stopping your club from being embarassed week in week out. Master League did not represent this in the slightest, everyone was tarred with the same shitty brush, meaning you could use just about anyone and the end result would still by the same.

Honestly, they don't care if you support a lower league team. You're not meant to have a hard fought midfield battle, scrapping for goals with your one good player. You're meant to do a long through ball to Eto'o and see if you can outrun Evra. They are so apathetic to the lower league folks that if they even attempted to go into the lower tiers it would be such a hashjob that it would be a farce. Every team would have the same set of average players, plodding about like the ridiculously poor default ML players.

If they can't get the other 14/20 Prem teams right then it would be taking the piss if they attempted the lower leagues.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

It's nice to see a new football net without sandbags. Anyway, i want to see a square nets or striped nets ( white/blue ) or ( white/red ).

Maybe you can switch between a square nets and other nets in game. :BOP:

What's more, i hope that KONAMI will improve chants for PES 2010 to make this game better than previously. They should use realistic chants for the licensed teams.

If KONAMI can't provide new realistic chants so they can ask for Gigimarulla or Tommsen chants pack.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

The scans look fantastic, a massive step up in respect of lighting and graphics, infact it looks like a different game TBH.

We have been told that animations are beiing added and enhanced, I cannot beleive that they would say it is what they are doing (backed up by respectable sites and magazines across the country)
and then it being the same as 09...........no,no,no.

There has definately been a big shift, wether that is a paradigm shift or a mere improvement, will not be known until August the 19th, however I will not buy the same old "ooooh don't worry the gamescom build is at 60%" shit this year.

If gamescom shows a game with poor animations, then it will have poor animations, what we see there is usually a very good indication of the finished game and looking back on that showcase, it has really not changed that much when we eventually put it in our consoles.

They still need to knuckle down with the little bits. Middlesborough had those nets in 2000, I think Roma had them a few years ago, but they are nothing like the premier league or europen style nets and its these tiny things that pull you away from the experience and the impression that you are playing at anfield.

I also hope they add the bench and subs animation and the sound needs a complete re-work from the first db up. Those croed chants last year were similar to stuff I heard on my Amiga whilst playing a management sim around 1992. You need it to flow not loop and it certainly needs to be responsive to the region and circumstance. It use to be superb on the PS2 when you went away to Highbury, stole a last minute winner and you could hear your tiny contingent of fans going barmy one side of the ground, whilst the rest of the ground fell silent.

Looking forward to the online going back to PES6 and the integration of the champions league will be fantastic fun, but it needs to be easy to use, lag free without warping. How Konami have got away producing an online experience like they have for the past 2 years is beyond me...............its just plain broke.

It feels good this year, it looks superb and vibes coming from Konami and the media is far more +ve, yes we have heard it before but Konami's worry was always met with utter silence until a first gameplay video and then we found out why.

I think this game is going to be a belter, not Fifa, but still a fantastic bit of fun.

Ivica Mornar, I wanted to kick him in the head during Euro2004 the bald bastard. Missed a sitter vs France in the 89th minute at 2-2.
