Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Like you say an overall rating of 80 shouldn't mean anything, he doesn't have an all round game like Forlan or Villa for example. I'd be interested to see if Forlan has better stats than Torres.

In NBA 2K9 players with a 75 rating (e.g. Trevor Ariza) can be just as effective as the uber stars like LeBron and Kobe who have 95+ ratings.

It's nice to see a new football net without sandbags. Anyway, i want to see a square nets or striped nets ( white/blue ) or ( white/red ).

Maybe you can switch between a square nets and other nets in game. :BOP:

Poppycock!!

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Wow, Anfield looks so PERFECT !
But, I can't believe Gerrard will have OVR 96 and Torres 80, what the ... ?

Not sure but maybe because Gerrard can play in more positions effectively than torres?

correct, he has far more all round skill than tores so maybe its about right. Tores might well be in the 90's for goal scoring but way down in the 40's for tackling.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Isn't the whole idea of this new system to make things easy for a new comer. Quicker to switch players around based on this one line stat. However, already we are debating how the system works and confused as to why players have significantly lower stats than one might expect. Surely its doing the complete opposite of whats it aiming for.

I suppose its not too much of an issue when they have the old stat system still in place

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

The screenshot of Anfield is very impressive, but what impressed me the most in the graphics department is the texture on Torres' skin.
It seemed to be the affect that rain or maybe sweat has on the players, the skin has a sort of shine on it at certain points, also if you have a look at the kit it also seems the light is being reflected off it. One missing peice of evidence maybe is there is no rain in the background, But yh Konami in some of thier earlier press releases did say that they were working on skin texture and it seems to be paying off.

Is this where we are looking for the game to go?

They could easily use the same engine as PES2009 for 2010 and give it a graphic's job and people would be happy with that!
I can see the point of things looking nice and real but on a camera view that's wide or long does it really matter apart from the replay?

For the last two Pro "Evolutions" the game if anything has De-Evolved.

I have always felt throughout the series the game always robbed Peter to pay Paul.

In my humble opinion

PES 1 Fail
PES 2 Fail
PES 3 Pass (went onto WE7I which amazed me)
PES 4 Pass
PES 5 Pass
PES 6 Pass
PES 2008 Fail
PES 2009 Fail

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

For the love of. We could argue player stats all year long as it's subjective. Granted Hyppia is dog shit but konami have always held him in high esteem.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

this new card system has me confused, why if a player like gerrard has a long range shooting card would you want to turn that off during a game? same goes for torres fox in the box card,if you turned that off would he not score goals?? i cant really see the point of turning any players special skills off ,this is what makes them different and more individual than the other average players in the game

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

hope pes2010 is good, pes2009 feels dead to me now....really is a pile of shit!

Scripts, if you shoot with Torres with the card on theirs more chance it'll go in rather than it being saved if its off.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Player celebrations
There are more player-specific goal celebrations, the most memorable we saw being Torres' thumb sucking motion:)

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

I dont see why people are finding this card system so confusing. I personally think its gonna be a brilliant idea.
First of all, let me say that its not confirmed that ALL cards can be turned off. I imagine only behaviour cards will be while ability cards wont. A behaviour card would be something like "All Out Attack" or "Chasing Back" cuz these are commands or instructions that a player has by default but you might want to turn off to make the player adapt to your own tactics. Abilty cards would be things like "Passer" or "Long Ranger" cuz they're abilities you cant physically take away from someone (and why would you? lol).
Here's an example of how someone might use the system. Lets assume someone like Cristiano Ronaldo has the "Free Roaming" card so that when he's played on the wing, he'll drift into different positions, maybe switching flanks throughout the match. Now what if all your strikers were injured, suspended or whatever and you had no choice but to play Ronaldo as a target man up front? The problem with this is that he'll free roam all over the pitch and maybe sometimes might not even be around the box while crosses or passes come in. This is where you turn off the "Free Roaming" card so that Ronaldo will act more like a striker instead of a free roaming winger.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

the card system shouldn't be confusing at all. if anyone bothered reading the scans you would understand.
heres the page that explains it.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

I'm not happy with players having an overall rating. It seems like Konami have tried to copy Fifa and simplify player selection for people who don't look at stats, but for me the beauty of PES has always been about looking at a player's stats to assess his strengths and weaknesses. Case in point is Torres having an overall rating of 80. He is one of the best strikers in the world, but I'm guessing his overall rating takes a knock because he lacks the versatility to play other positions. So imagine how many lesser known players could be overlooked (say, when scouting in the Master League) because they have low overall ratings even though they may be excellent in certain areas.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

its the same Sh*ty game play every year :) Konami what a shame :) remember this words :) i dont see any big improvments from what i`ve seen until now we are in 2009 and this new points and imporvment konami adding in 2010 must be in from 2008 :)

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

It's strange but you actually can, the main point being the picture of the players from a bit of distance, the defender chasing the man in possession, clearly the same animation thats been there for the last 4-5 years, the Michael Johnson running motion. :FAIL:
Sorry but I don't believe that.An animation is the sum of several frames and you can't fully judge it by only watching one frame.
I don't expect major improvements on a shit game but at least I'm waiting for some videos and demos to make up my true opinion

Quite right. Animation can only EVER be judged on movement because that is what it is. All this speculation that we get about how shit it is going to be "oh look......you can tell its the same as 09" when no one has actually even seen 5 seconds of in game footage is just bollocks.

I come here to speculate on what is going to be different both from a gameplay and graphical point of view, sometimes you feel a bit let down when you hear stuff in a 50% build but you only need to read some of the snippets to know it is improving. I don't want to read judgemental posts by people who have nothing to add except "it's going to be the same old shit"

I respect every one s opinion, good or bad but at least add some value to the thread in either bringing new news or discussing old news everything else in respect of gameplay comments is totally irrelevant at this stage as it is purely speculative, unfounded and a waste of the sites bandwith.

I am no PES fanboy, I think from PES5 its been nothing but pure over priced dog shit, but the very fact that Konami have been shouting about thier game from an early part of the development gives you a hint that they are confident of a shift. Add this to a much bigger team, the graphical scans, online announcements, mo cap etc etc and you need not be rocket scientist to see a much bigger effort to get the series on track.

I'll judge this when I see at least 5 minutes of gameplay at Gamescom, I'll decide if it is for me when I have given it an hour with the demo, and I'll buy or not buy on real experience.

For those that are judging this now, then more fool you.

In player search in PES 2009 there was an option to search for specific attribute-value's and I certainly expect that too in PES 2010.

That's one helluva post man, I agree 100%
I feel the same towards FIFA, I'm eager to see some good gameplay footage of both games
