Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

(PES2010 has nicer graphics, but there are still many generic faces and other issues. The movement/running animations are too similar. The game pace is arcadey, as from this video people can score screamers and long shots easily. The pitch conditions still sterile.) And, unbelievably, they have the untucked shirt option BUT it is not in the gameplay, only, magically, during cut scenes and replays (same problem as last year's). What is the point of this returning option if this option is not in the gameplay, as it ruins the realism a lot. Unless I am wrong and/or the retail version has corrected this problem, this is sloppy work by Konami who promised to implement this untucked shirt option. I was hoping Konami would fix these important problems at least, never mind the bigger issues it has with other gameplay and insufficient edit elements and licenses.

Anyway, anybody can confirm if the untucked shirts in in-game or only in cut scenes/replays.., in case I am wrong..?

Damn, I hate this argument about untucked shirts and runing the reaiism... come on, that should one of the more non-sense quotes I have imagine...

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

That europa opening vid looks nice just like something bbc sport would do.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Hey i was wondering does anybody think that next gen footie games (ps4/xbox720) could possibly look like this, it does seem the next logical step to me....sorry for the OT:))

YouTube - Sky Super Sunday 09 10

In all honesty, the animations look A LOT CLOSER TO FIFA10 than PES....

I see FIFA12 looking like that.... Sadly, PES Productions haven't taken any steps in a direction that would make them end up with something looking like the footage in that clip in the near future.

What I can guarantee you is that we'll never see a KONAMI trailer looking like that. We've all seen the quality of promo trailers they are capable of producing.

no doubt. just a matter of time. 2012 is my guess. ...its all evolving so fast...

I dont understand why people have to decide between one or the other game....Why cant we like both and play both with a diferent mindset(not saying u gotta like both)?? PES is the best game when i want to play PES and FIFA is the best when i want to play FIFA , although we are talking about 2 games of the same sport they both have very diferent ways in portraiting the sport and imo both ways are very valid.

I dont compare them and i dont need to, theyre diferent... for me it would be the same as comparing Halo and COD...theyre just too diferent althoguth they fall in the same category(shooter).

itds all because fifa player dont wanna admit they'll wanna just kick the ball instead of simulating soccer. ;)

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

No, am not cammey. Am writing from Asia. Been trying to get confirmatin of what i saw on video, which was too fast and blurry. Hope I am wrong. THanks.:CONFUSE:

Im specially dissapointed about this untucked shirt situation too(ive mentioned it already several times the reasons of it).. our only hope is if JUCE decides to make a LOD mixer for the pc version.

No hope on the ps3 and 360 version though :(

Either way ill be getting the pc version like i aways do since pes2008, i still love editing/pacthing the game....

man, its not about untucked shirts or not, but about players looking like themselves on the wide camera... i just cant stand torres having the same style as gerrard...sorry, but im pick... must be because of too much pacthing in my gamer life.

EDIT. just saw that euro league video, its class! cant wait to play it with Everton(Pc version mod)

Dude I have been playing PES/WE for 12 years and have NEVER had a problem were I have not been able to notice the difference between players on wide cam. What are you lot talking about? Sure I understand the LOD story but it's not as bad as you are making it. You can see the difference in technique, first touch and running animations no matter how limited it's been.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Any idea if there are more teams than on the offline demo?

To be honest, it took over an hour to download last night so I didnt get chance to play the online demo. I had to put a shift in with the girlfriend, and bearing in mind she probably wont see me after the 23rd, I thought I'd give some spare time whilst I'm waiting for the PES release.

As far as I'm aware there isnt any new teams on the online demo, but I will let you know tonight forsure, and how I find the online experience. ;)

I like what this guy has written, I have the utmost respect for his views, he is a footballer first and a gamer second. He does post here, albeit very rarely, but this is taken from another site. He is always on the ball with all of his posts that I have read, IMO. ;)

Okay, here is my opinion on PES2010 online.

Tremendous. Quite simply tremendous.

Lag? Well apart from the odd screen freeze for a split second at the start of match simply non apparent. The game seems to 'warm up' a bit at the start of a game but that is about it.

Honestly, it is tremendous. I honestly feel like I could be playing someone sat next to me. I have traveled far and very well in my online experience and only once has the game let me down, and that was during a short spell in the opening 10 simulated minutes against a player from the Canary Islands.

People talk about button lag but I have yet to truly experience any of note, apart from in that opening exchange with the Canary Islands player I have already mentioned. If this is demo code I personally coud do without anything quicker regards response times. Y'see once you learn to appreciate that the game is no longer about lightning quick reflexes exclusively, you begin to understand the joy that appears to be PES2010.

R2 dribble is the key. I can't emphasise enough how important Seabass and co. have made this one mechanic. The game is no longer about long sprints into space, but instead it is about patience to the full, and R2 dribble buys you seconds you thought you never had and never did have before in a PES game. Where before we would see space and sprint towards it, PES2010 rewards the player who actually turns towards goal and tries to tempt your opposition into being rash in the challenge. Just like real football!

The variance in play patterns and tempo has truly been aced. Defending is an art, and the ability to finally play a patient, measured passing game online has finally been realised. Sure, you will play against opponents that seek Messi at every turn, and are possibly still rewarded for doing so a little too much for my liking, but the game does not demand you have to look for a winger in order to create, It rewards patience and gentle probing of your oppositions defence. Just like real football!

Keepers are not terrible, but neither are they great. A perfect balance thus far in my experience and it is because of the sharper defensive AI. Finally, it appears anyway, that you don't have to focus on a Messi dribbling past your full back but instead it feels as though it is all about positioning of the player you control who is not pressing him. You can actually 'sweep' in this game. Just like real football!

If a keeper spills, I get the sensation that players are present to do something about it. I still would like the keepers to push the ball a safer distance from goal but you have to think about the way PES will reward those that strategise there team in order to bear down on goal, and maybe all that will happen is that the parry goes further out towards a midfielder who has time and space to shoot solidly into the net, or that every parry results in a corner which would result in absolute boredom after a while. The seem to have got it near, but not quite how it should be.

Negatives.

They are all technical to be honest. I think the franchise needs to take a 'balls out' risk regards animation, and the mechanics that drive the game could do with some revision but by no means need an absolute overhaul. The game without doubt needs two separate set ups. One for those that play via d-pad, and one for those that like to play via the stick. The game still feels as though it has the d-pad user in mind and while I will never be one to demand analogue control exclusively, I do think the game needs to embrace the true potential of using stick control.

Finally, I want to say this. I am a moderator on WENB and one of my posts was highlighted by Adam in that I compared PES to the Street Fighter series. People baulked at the idea, thinking I was asking essentially for PES to just be PES5 but with shinier graphics and the exact same gameplay mechanics in this generation. This simply is not what I asked for. I asked that PES returned to it's roots as it would result in a return to form, but it needed to embrace the new technology and the potential that comes with it. The game needs an overhaul technically make no mistake about it, and the mechanics that drive the game need to to be enhanced somewhat, but thus far PES2010 is proving to be a return to roots. Street Fighter IV was a return to roots also, but it also enhanced it's gameplay, presentation, and technical assets into the bargain. PES2010 does not quite tick all these boxes, but it is returning to it's roots.

Huge post, and sorry for boring you guys but the beta is inspiring and stirring up some very fond memories of a classic franchise at the moment.

It really is that good!

I should emphasise that I am not a great PES player. I just know how I want a football game to feel, and PES has always given me that buzz apart from the last two years, but even then they got some things correct.

PES2010 is unquestionably a return to roots. The game is probably as 'clever' as it has ever been, but it does need to step up technically.

All PES2010 online is telling me is that the core of the BEST football game is back, but it needs the technical magic of an Ibrahimovic or Iniesta to truly wipe the floor it's competitor.

Seriously though, right now those that need a competitive PES fix might not be found wanting. This game being rated a 6.9/10 or whatever is a complete joke, and frankly an insult to those who know better.

The game currently is being reviewed purely in comparison - and on a technical level - to FIFA10 at the moment, and that train of thought is both unfair and truly bewildering. It sounds as though PES2010 may well deliver the complete package both online(Prays it holds together) and offline, something FIFA10 simply isn't doing at the moment, plus FIFA10 is not only riddled with offline bugs, but the gameplay is also subject to major scripting to boot.

Who would have thought it would take a couple of football games to truly expose the farcical nature of games reviews in this generation.

I am 34 years old. Star Wars was the 'Star Wars' of my childhood. PES is the 'Star Wars' of my adulthood.

Sounds like it's all looking very good on the PES 2010 front. I totally agree with his views on the R2 button. I feel exactly the same. Also a quick tap of the R2 button, and a directional movement of the left stick, as the pass is approaching, can give you that precious yard of space in tight areas. And it's even more apparent with the more technically astute players.

That Europa League vid looks great! Great presentation and feeling of prestige with the official intro, the other results at full time and your group standing at the end. Can't wait to get my ML team into Europe.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Hi Guys

Just spent the last two hours playing the XBOX version of this game. The game visually looks brilliant and plays quite well too. Not as as good as the PS2 versions or the recent Wii version though. In my opinion it's waaayy too fast. Here's hoping that my PS3 version will be a bit slower.

This is a problem with Windows 7. Try use MultiRes (set 60hz) and V-sync. If don't solve, try update video driver (this work for me)
