Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread
manual does not = total control, there is an element of stat attributes mattering in manaul fifa... strength, quickness, and yes it seems even pirlo's passes find there mark more often then others even using manual. Yes PES has some things that they do WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY better then fifa. I think both games have postives and negatives.. I will be getting both, but the love of both games from some of the fanbase is the reason we get the same shit over and over. MM in fifa has sucked for three iteration, if you go over to the fifa fourms in the MM bug thread, you gotta a bunch of fifa fanboys saying, "these aint bugs, get some friends you retards!" "MM is for losers who dont have friends" etc... etc... . Over here we get guys like you who dont see that the same goals are being scored since we8, the angular passing hasn't changend(basically the ball can only travel in certain lines on the pitch, which sorry mate, IS NOTHING LIKE A REAL FOOTBALL MATCH). The ball used to seem more organic in PES, now it seems very static and the path of the ball is always pre-determinend. PES/WE is still fun to me, but it is losing the title of SIM because the one touch passing all the way down the pitch and the angular passing is getting way too easy to exploit. I watch as much football as anyone and you typically dont see this kind of football being played, it is unrealistic, too difficult to pull off. In PES/WE and fifa assisted it is prevalent.. If Konami gave people the option to go manual then I would annoint them kings again(and maybe fix the animations and collision system). Give me the option to stay manual, you can stick with arcade assist. And before you bring it up, when you play manul fifa, STATS DO MATTER.
IN THAT LATEST VIDEO I SAW NO LESS THEN 10 ONE TOUCH BACK HEELS, @jimmy, how the fuck does that represent a real game? Is there a harlem globetrotters football team now?
Gomito, just because I cant get any real enjoyment from Fifa doesnt make it a bad game, far from it, it just does nothing for me, thats all.
I have been discussing PES 2010/ WE10 implementation of this new 1st touch system, and I'm yet to see anybody, really pick up on this, or even comment on this ? I dont understand why ?
For me this is the biggest step forward I have seen in a football game in a long, long time. The realism element this system creates for me is mindblowing. At first, or until you grasp the concept it can seem that there are response issues with certain players. Which to an extent there are, but it is coded for a specific reason. The reason is, it adds to the massive individual element of each player and provides the basis for the initiation of every conceivable variable action you will encounter in a football.
I played another 5 hours last night on the WE demo at varying difficulty levels. The higher the level you go, the more this 1st touch element that varies from player to player comes into its own.
Just like real football, the higher level at which you play, whether it be Sunday League, Saturday morning football, Saturday afternoon football, the bottom end of the Semi-Professional scale, to the likes of the Northern League, then the various Conference affiliates, the speed of the game gets so much quicker the higher the level you play. This in turn means as a player you have much less time on the ball. In order to compensate for this, your initial first touch of the ball has to be at a much higher level. This first touch is all based on your technique.
Any half decent player can spray a nice pass, crack a decent shot, direct a nice header etc, etc. It isnt that hard. What is hard to consistently master, is taking the ball under control with your 1st touch at all the varying angles, heights, and pace of the oncoming pass. It's such a huge element of the game that people who watch football as opposed to play it, massively over-look. It's an art that is taken for granted for the most part by non-players. Like I said before, ask any professional scout what they look for first and foremost in a young player, and the answer will always be, his 1st touch. Without it, regardless of terrific pace, good feet, even decent vision, you may not even get a trial.
PES 2010 address this feature more than it ever has done. Only high technical players can now use the first time touch. The reason for this is that lesser players have less confidence and will usually stick to the basics. Which is getting the ball under control, before looking to move it on. There is an argument to suggest that every player can attempt a first time flick, etc. This is true and a valid point. But in order to try and recreate the individual nature of the likes of Zlatan, Iniesta, Robinho et al, and the sublime technique these players possess, this is a very clever way of doing it. Even though it can feel frustrating at times when trying to action instant moves with lesser gifted players.
I played last night alot with Brazil, whose overall technique level as a team is off the map. The first touches by some of the players to take the ball under control, at all the many variations I have mentioned previously, was awesome. And I mean taking the ball on the bounce, dead. Taking it on their chest under pressure, dead. Moving the ball out of the feet with a neat touch, flick etc etc etc. I witnessed so many different scenarios.
I then played for an hour with Italy and it was completely different. The 1st touches were all varied again, but different. Same went for Liverpool.
I won 2-0 on Superstar level with Brazil v Italy and both goals were fashioned from two moments of genius. One from Daniel Alves, the other from Kaka. Both came about from amazing first touches and deft, subtle skills, followed by two killer passes. Pure individual brilliance, peformed under extreme pressure, that created the yard of space only the very best players in the world can reproduce. The Worlds great players always seem to create time and space. This is all down to sublime technique and a ridiculous 1st touch.
Konami have fucking nailed this element. They really have. Fifa, doesnt even address it, or at least not naturally anyway.
It's these type of things that I focus on when judging a games realism. Not fancy animations. As long as the theory is correct I couldnt give a rats ass if the animation isnt super-silky smooth. I need to relate to it and buy into the feel of it.
I did notice a few 'wrong' shooting animations that didnt sit well with me last night though, I hope they are sorted. I do replay most shots and zoom in to see if the action matches the ball's direction etc., or if it was a good representation. I'm a geek like that. The ball at times still feels a little too heavy as well. There are a few other little niggles I have, but on the whole I'm very happy with this game.
