Seabass Speaks About The Demo

Hi everyone.

I spent the weekend with fans in Nice at the PES European Championships. In addition to holding the tournament we also gave press and fans the chance to see final code and give us feedback.
As we've said before our process of listening, learning and improving is on-going.

Whilst I was at the event, several people asked me about the demo code which we recently released. I think this situation has got a little confused, so I want to explain things clearly.

The demo code is slightly different to the final version. Improvements have since been made to the ball physics and consequently the game speed has been reduced. Ideally we would have liked to release a version based 100% on final code, but we were making changes right up until the end.

Sorry for the confusion. I hope you give the final code a try to
experience what we believe is the best PES to date.

Thanks,
Seabass

It does not mention animations...contrary to what has been said by a lot of you who seem to see new animations in every new video.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

probably they are mention about the running animation not the animation like fall, collision something like that..

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

The AI in those videos not to mention the Goalkeeper is just upsetting, are the developers pleased with these kind of things?

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Again totally unconvincing. In the video with Henry running against the team in yellow where is the tackles? In the demo the a.i was just dumb and allowed you to walk through to goal.

On 'Regular', yes. Not on 'Top Player'. I'm afraid that's just factually incorrect.

In the Gerrard shot, what was the keeper doing? i wouldnt expect a goalkeeper to step to the side and jump straight up for that and catch it as if its lobbed up in the air straight at him, i'd expect the keeper to dive or stumble across his goal haven been caught out from such a long range shot.

Really? Come on now, I really think you are just picking holes. You talk about people convincing themselves that PES 2010 is good but surely you are just convincing yourself of the opposite now.

Picking holes? I played the demo on all levels to test it out they hardly ever slide tackle on the top levels and never on regular.

I dont need to convince myself of anything - konami have done a great job of that on their own. I dont have a problem with those who are looking forward to it - i just dont get the hype that ive seen spoken in here and various other sites like pesgaming and WENB.

I think people are desperate to like this game off the back of the last few years failures..

That is probably true, I guess you are always going to get a few people who get a little bit over excited.

I do think you are being a bit pedantic with that Gerrard shot video though, to which I was specifically referring. Without digressing into a lengthy debate on foot placement and being caught off one's line, there's no reason why he wouldn't save it like that. The bit I though was a bit stupid was when he fell on the ball when it was at his feet, but hey it's a videogame at the end of the day and you are always going to notice little kinks like that.

Come on the way the keeper saves that is inhuman, he should be shimmying to the ball and then catch it not turn his whole body and run towards goal with his back turned to the ball overlooking it past his shoulder ... what he does next is just a joke. Yeah it's a video game but it's 2009, we really should be past these niggles that you'd expect from the PS2 era. Infact a lot of things in the series, mainly AI, have gone backwards since the PES 3-PES 6 era.

I'm looking forward to the game but there are too many things that occur that one has to look the other way on; mostly AI and motion capture. If the fans don't come down hard on these kinda things, we'll be served up more for the next 3 years.

pes animations and physic/collisions is way behind compare to fifa now which really look good..those two thing is the only thing konami really need to improve from now on..

Maybe i am a little but im disappointed with the keeper animations the most on the demo. They never do one handed tip aways they always dive awkwardly with both hands tucked in.

Thats made all the more frustrating as years ago they had the best keepers ever, they would tip it over, palm it out, block with legs, body and feet and really extend themselves, the animation was brill. Why the keepers are like this now ill never know.

I would say they should sort out

- PES animations & Physics
- AI, particularly keepers but also in general play. Look at the AI involved in Abidal losing the ball on video 3 and how oblivious Ibrahimovic is of Henry in video2
- Bring all our stuff back (challenge training, pes shop etc)
- Fix oversights (league table formats, camera angles etc)

Once some of these are sorted then we can move on to the new stuff like more edit features etc. At the very least the new games should have ALL the features the old game had right down to 'short socks'.

Yeah, why have keepers capitulated so far since the PS2 era? So much so that even though they have improved since 08 they're still at an awful level.

Yep.

And what about the feature to change shorts and socks? That was the best ever!!!!!

You could play as Inter and mix the away white shirt with black shorts and socks or white shirt, white shorts and black socks etc

yes it was, I can't understand why both PES and FIFA don't have that now, I know in FIFA it's down to licence issues which I don't understand at all but in PES it's just another Konami Triangle mystery...

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Three things are the most important for KONAMI now:

1)Full mo-capure ANIMATIONS for players and keepers
2)Collisions system like Fifa's
3)AI

.......................................................

Finish

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Why can't there be an evo-web top 5 list of what the fans want most? (polls will ensure fairness & cut out arguments).

It seems clear animations, collisions and AI are pretty much going to feature and that way there is a clear starting point for the fans to have their say on the year's most pressing issues. The game should at the very least be a next-gen iteration of pes 6 feature-wise not outdone by a 3 year old game.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

I'm guessing this must be a licensing issue. Really annoying though because it was a nice feature. Sounds petty but I appreciate details like that.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Love the videos albeit a bit fast.
I have been playing FIFA 10 every day or night until the time I get tired of the revolting AI (after 5-6 games), lethargic movement and monotonous gameplay. Having said that the things Fifa does well i.e. the animations, it does magnificently but everything else is stuffed. We need to stop speaking of it as if it's the holy grail of football games because that it is not.
I have a suspicion that PES 2010 is going to be shot down by alot of disappointed and bored fifa fans.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

They should have made the Europa League online aswell. I mean why have it?

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Honestly, a TV viewer won't throw a fit at taking the time to notice that...

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

wat.

Also the pace of the game, judging from the links on the last page, is too fast imo. It doesnt help that the animation is pretty shocking.

It just doesn't look 'right'. Atleast FIFA actually looks like a football match interms of the pace.

So are you prepping up complaints till the game comes out? And about the TV ads, no ones gonna notice the game is in "easiest" difficulty setting, no one anal atleast.

well for sure, out of 1.7 millions europeans that bought fifa on week 1 making it the best selling sport game ever there must be someone who has your feeling about it.

As far as the level7 video i did wonder whether it was pes 2009, i saw no whatsoever improvements. No new animations (and you all said you say a lot of new ones but you were proven wrong by seabass himself).

Read the above comments. You'll see everyone making remarks about the pacing, a.i. etc

I'm just commenting on what I see. If that's 'prepping up' as you call it then so be it.

What are you? Some fanboy. *adds to his ignore list.

No, he is just sticking to the rule of not accepting criticism in this thread, either u praise any footage you see or you are just kindly asked to go to some other thread.

BTW that tv ad had a weird ball sound...where do they get those sounds from?? do they use different balls in japan??

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

3 years later you are stil saying the same crap. You never blame the game, always and old code or lousy players. Pathetic.

What do you think people say about somebody who never ever say something positive about PES? Even if almost everybody agrees about PES 2010 beeing a far better game than last year, you keep bashing it. Well, THAT is really pathetic.
What do you looking for in a PES forum? Nothing about the game, you made that very clear, so what else?

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

I don't care how good it is compared to last year, i care how good it is compared to pes5/6. You just come here to praise it blindly like Adam did back in the days before he lost his reputation completely.
