Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Exactly. The game needs a next-gen animations engine like IK (inverse Kinematics) that can generate any movement based on the body joints' range of movement, the position the feet, the ball, and the center of gravity, in correlation with the desired movement.

It also allows split second animations to be generated and integrated into any player's new position.... which is very important when generate goalkeeper movements. I can't take another year of marketing motion capture stunts and a couple of new animations slapped onto this ANCIENT engine:

Can't wait till either EA or Konami do that, it would be fantastic...

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

The problem with the game and it is also related to the lack of responsiveness is the game is all prescripted when you press the buttons.

Thats why the game has to wait until the player is on the correct foot to shoot to perform the animation involved.

Thats why you see these amazing goals perfectly curl into the top corner etc nothing to do with player skill just aim and shoot the Game does the rest.
Thats why the keepers cant save or move for certain shots there's no animation scripted so the game just freezes them.

PES in the past has always allowed you to shoot no matter where you were or how you were running mainly allowing some terrible misses if wrong foot or sprinting was involved and it was instant with fluid animations.

Its the same now but with fewer animations the game has to quickly perform something that might not be applicable at the time leading to some buggy animations and easy amazing goals or glitches and it takes a few seconds to try and change the player to make it look fluid.

Hi embrace, i agree with you on the matter of animations, but surely these have been rectified. IMO the responsiveness issue isnt really there for me.To my mind there is the delay purely because its physically impossible to execute say a shot if the ball has just slightly ran out of control, therfore theres no instant response and quite rightly shouldnt be.When i have the ball under control there is no response issues for me.

Not sure about that. I had the ball with Iniesta under control and kept pressing pass and the player did nothing. I dont see how anyone can say this demo doesnt have response time issues.

Ahem, EA have started incorporating Inverse Kinematics with the "other game" back in summer 2006.... 4 years ago. Hence the beautiful, smooth, and realistic animations.

Inverse Kinematics: 1:19
Procedural Awareness: 3:15

This is also why you can string tricks, complex animations, and split second saves into any current animation without it looking jerky or stiff as in PES. It is why you don't see sliding, skipped and interrupted animations in the other game.

is there any JAPANESE game developers and JAPANESE games that actually use such things? I don't mean specific to inverse kinematics but also such things like havok physics or euphoria....

perhaps part of the problem plaguing PES is because it is made by Japanese -no offense to any Japanese here-, I guess they aren't really comfortable with adopting things that are rather unpopular in Japan there.

Well Seabass has said in an interview following FIFA'08 reveal that he loves how the game moves and that he would like to have this engine in PES later on... Of course back them PES2008 had numerous problems other than animations that needed focus...

But my guess is he's been planning to introduce IK to the game for quite some time now... It just wasn't ready for primetime, like 360 movement last year. So maybe with the bigger team we'll see the much needed animations overhaul next year:

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

that photo highlights the importance of animations, if they had say, 10 different animations for a jumping headed clearence you wouldn't often see things like this. Perhaps they have a few ore to add before final release?

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

That picture, although the animations make it look like a joke, points out one of the advantages of PES for me.
Players anywhere near the ball can attempt to head it, rather than only one player from each side...
It was very annoying on FIFA 09 Clubs when the ball could be right on the head of one player but because he wasn't "locked-on" he couldn't head the ball into the net from 6 yards and it would go to the person at the back post who was marked... Didn't happen that often but it's a problem that doesn't exist in PES.

That's a good point. Fifa seems to have a 'one-at-a-time' policy when it comes to heading - or generally any situation where a loose ball is in playing distance of more than one player. It's very frustrating at times. I think this is why you get some great goal mouth scrambles and reaction shots in PES.

I was just going to post this but you my little mini Gab already did a perfect job, nice done, making me proud!

This is what still is so beautiful about PES. Find me a screenshot with several people jumping in FIFA, never going to find it I tell you. In this picture the defenders have an advantage because they are 4 people that can try to head the ball against only one forward. Just like in real life. In FIFA only one defender can jump in this situation. Booo! Sim my arse!

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Do you have news from TGS 2009?
There were a few clips from the final build of FIFA! But nothing from PES!

but they failed :FAIL: chiellini scored that header lol.

Hehe yeah, but that is the beauty of football. Anything can happen, at least they tried and didn't stand around just looking at the ball like in FIFA.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

:LMAO:

Why does this happen ? I understand its this collision detection thing. I have just never really noticed it in other PES games. Or if it was there it wasnt blatant enough for me to notice.

Please, can someone tell me that these type of incidents will/should be rectified for the full release ?
