Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

That's the sad truth, Dags. Four years and a newer generation of console power at their disposal and Konami still haven't bettered PES5. A sad indictment of Konami.

I honestly don't think PES2010 will be the PES5 killer we all hope for, but if it even gets close that will be fine by me.

Even now when I watch PES5 it was way ahead of its time. Even if 10 gets close to 5 I know it will be a superb game, add in the wow factor of the graphics and the added animations and it aint half going to be spending alot of time in my console.

I'm so looking forward to playing the demo, but I have a feeling you cannot play it anything like 09 its going back to its build up roots.

when playing a football game with circa 5 minute halves, you want to see a bit of an end to end battle, not to the extent of players waltzing through but lots of passing to carve open that 1 chance to nick a win.

Can't wait J!!!

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

If anything, that "other game" seemed to over hype changes that don't effect the game much (360 movement) without fixing the flaws of last year's game. On the other hand, PES2010 gave the same 360 movement the attention it deserved (a late announcement in some conference) without all the cinematics.

I really think PES2010 will be one big step in the right direction, and if they introduce foot planting and a new animation system next year, seriously FIFA will be done for...

I think it's a great example to show how player movement has been improved

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

But 2009, I agree it wasn't what I was hoping for, but it is still a good game, a playable one.

I have barely played PES 2009 before the Fifa 10 demo. Now, I'm really appreciating it and enjoying it. I play it like real football and no exploiting flaws. Every PES had flaws and I never used exploits.

PES feels very rewarding. Fifa on the other hand, even if it did give me that sensation to some extent, has never reached that "pes feeling" level, imo.

Ok I gtg the manager has threw me in the game and we're 0-1 down. I have to impress ;)

That is the most important part Lami.

My gushing praise for PES 2009 comes from the ability to play beautiful football more than any other PES title. But I do appreciate people dont like it as much as the previous titles BECAUSE of the flaws to exploit.

The thing is, I played 2009 mainly offline, or against friends who DONT exploit flaws and look to play FOOTBALL. When played like this its brilliant. Those who dismiss it, I'm sorry, but you either dont know what your missing, or you cant appreciate what your missing.

I dont care really for anyone's opinion though. I know what I see and I know what I play. And thats it. If people cant/dont/wont appreciate these things, well more fool them as far as I'm concerned, there is always the other game.

Guys PES5 in it's infinite awesomeness was by no means perfect. I remember alot of 0-0 draws and very defensive minded AI. The refs were a pain in the arse as well.

@jimmy I have never played less than 6 star or top player

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Yeah PES wouldn't be perfect this year, but like others have said it has taken a step in the right direction. I think we would very much enjoy PES this year.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

PES5 had that awful angled pass flaw where your player would jump over the ball with yards of space and inexplicably let it roll for a throw in. Also the cut back passes were way too effective against a human player, some animations were off and it had a lot of small flaws...but it was a great title.

Much like PES2009. Despite the flaws, a great game of footie and far beyond anything the competitor has achieved.

that picture ther is one reason why pes is better than fifa, on fifa 10 it is impossible to get past 2 players in just a few yards and even if you can you have to do it at a the pace of a snail on skilled dribble. anyone else here the demo out next week?

I agree. The 360 degree control in the other game is nice, and aesthetically it makes the player movements and animations look really smooth and realistic - but - I fail to see what it significantly adds to the playing experience. I'm not finding that it helps me beat a man. F**a10 still feels very much like F**a09 to me, just with some nice tweaks and small improvements.

Now I really want to see how it feels in PES 2010. By all accounts it's not game-changing, which is the case with the other game, in my opinion.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

I think jimmy means certain people online will play the game as a computer program and will look for weaknesses in the program,ie shooting sweetspots on the pitch and also cutback goals ect.where a hell of a lot of pes fans are football minded and want to play the same,ie when you used to have a kickabout with your mates or profesionally you would apply the same techniques.hope this makes sense.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

For me the huge flaw at PES 2009 is the fucking automatic tackles and deflections. Those must be removed from this year's version or else.... damn, you dont have an idea of how many penalties pressing X I have conceded. Chiellini must be the record man of conceded penalties and red cards. Besides that it is a pretty good game. I am playing a local tournament and it was very cool with my Milan before losing Kaka. It has no updates so I have the rosters of last year. I will miss Kaka a lot when PES 2010 releases... fucking Berlusconi!

I'd agree - offline in single player or two player mode you can have some very solid, tight games of football.Pes 2009 can be very enjoyable with some thrilling games to be played, you just need to look beyond the online mode which is pap.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

For some bizarre reason online matches were locked on beginner difficulty in 09. This made the keepers rubbish and the defensive ai leave lots of space and part very quickly. Whereas offline, on top player, pes 2009 was a different game. You had to work hard to keep possesion, pass it around, time your tackes, look for openings etc. I hope you can choose the online difficulty in 2010, othwersie, it'll be ridiculous.

After playing the fifa 10 demo, I'm also looking forward to pes 2010 more! the 360 dribbling is impressive, but the game is still too fast even on the slow speed. It still doesn't play like real football, there's no weight to the ball physics, the manual shooting is still not right.

The latest pes 2010 press preview looked much better, I just hope the demo is from that build onward, not the awful gamescom one. Pes is actually pushing the slower speed and more simulated gameplay in the blurb this year.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Come one, don't be ridiculous with those "the other game" or "F**a". If you keep it civilized in here without starting troll festivals, there's no problem calling the villain by his name.

agree, i think its amuzing with this "other game" crap

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

I haven't posted in the PES/WE section for years, unbelievable really. I'd gone off PES with the next gen versions, it just wasn't the same. However, having been away from the PES scene for a while, I posted on another forum how current footy games just don't make me react like I used to.

I to remember leaping from the chair when an important goal was scored, it didn't even have to be spectacular. When I watched those videos on the last couple of pages, that feeling instantly came back to me. I will definitely be coming back to PES and giving the demo a very good run out this year. I may even download the 2009 demo and see what that was like.

It barely happens tbh. Maybe because I'm playing WE 2009 and not PES?

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Roll on Demo time, the only real big '+' FIFA has with me is the real league structure, it will be hard to give that up but a return to the PES of old game play feeling with the work they finally seem to be putting into it may sway this DarkSider back...:PIRATE:

So thats the fucking reason. I wondered why defensive AI was worse than the local blind school on a bad day online. Why would Konami do that ? They performed so different offline, but I guess thats the reason. Thanks for the heads up bud.

It really did puzzle me that, and as I'm new to the online PES world, that was something I never realised. But obviously I'd noticed it on the set-up screen as Beginner as mine is always set to Top Player on every other part of the game.

That auto tackle bullshit is probably the worst thing I have ever seen on a PES game. I gave away 4 penalties in one online match, and got either 3 or 4 players sent off, whilst conceding 3 penalties. I was bringing out the keeper everytime and pressed tackle for the keeper to dive at the players feet and everytime the defender just chopped him down.

I lost the game 5-4 with either 7 or 8 men. I PM'd the lad I was playing and said I never pressed tackle once. He replied 'LOL, I didnt think you did either'. Pure undiluted Bullshit.

Jamez -

Did you happen to catch todays score mate as I missed it ?

No longer there mate. It drove me crazy too.

Thats been eradicated from all builds of PES2010.

Hope both of you are right. That completely ruins some great games because AI decides it is great to make a tackle from behind to a player who make a feint

Not sure, I have not tried WE2009, but in PES 2009 happens a lot and it is more annoying than Maradona talking about "The ball does not get dirty"

LOL :D FIFA is not a villain at all. EA offers us a different approach of football that some likes, and some others don't. I think two good football games are better than only one...

Very true. It's not my cup of tea, but as long as EA keep pushing Konami to make PES a better game, then I'm all for it.

Yes, this bug (I cannot call it another way) is really one of the worst things in all the PES series. It is just unbearable. As I said, it ruins a lot of good and tight games just because the fucking AI decides it is good to tackle a player from behind. Just a silly feint is needed to trig those stupid and cheap tackles. At least I want to make a stupid decision tackling a player into the box, FFS!!!

Dude u've deleted like 5 relevant posts of mine, only a comparison of competitors...what do u expect people to think?

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

I definitely did NOT expect the mediocre reaction from the game that shall not be named's demo....

It really looks like PES2010 will be a hit this year. And with a few PC modding: Football nirvana.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

To be honest, I wouldn't if I were you.

Wait a couple of weeks for the PES2010 demo. Don't spoil it.

lol well I will have to wait as you can't even get it anymore through Marketplace, oddly you can get 2008, but I will pass on that. I shall wait for 2010.
