Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

The game that shall not be named shouldn't even be released for PC unless it was next-gen. I can't believe EA is that dumb. What "lower end" gamer are they talking about?

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

I felt exactly the same. Played Fifa 10 demo a few good times then played pes 2009 and all of a sudden I like pes 2009 now? Something about that fifa 10 demo was wrong that made me appreciate pes 2009. I'm playing pes 2009 BAL atm and really enjoying it.

Playing PES2009 just feels more natural. Its a simpler game of football. With skilled dribblers like Messi you can beat defenders just by making jinking runs with the left stick/d-pad. No need to pull two triggers and rotate sticks just for a world class player to beat an average defender. Fifa feels forced and unnatural in this area.

Obviously the individuality and the PES chaos factor are the other big plus points for me.

And I just scored a header in the dying minutes for Aston Villa and jumped out of the bed screaming. My wife thought I'm nuts
I can never get this feeling from Fifa. No matter how many I score.

I still believe with all its flaws PES 2009 is still the best there has been. I learnt to play this game and I have never played football in my life like I can play on this. Not even PES 5 or 6. In fact I cannot stand PES 6 anymore, its like an arcade game because you dont have to think about passing, it's like the other game on assisted. No thanks.

To play beautiful football on PES 2009 you really need to keep it simple. Just like IRL. Play the easy ball, the one thats on. If it's not on, go back and start again. For the first time ever I dont play a through ball on the floor or in the air unless I see that its on. I might take my chances if I'm using an excellent passer of the ball, but otherwise I just stick with the X button.

I use the one/two pass alot but only to make the passer run into space for the most part. I dont always attempt to complete the one/two, but by making the intial passer run into space, I'm using him by not using him, and in turn taking a defender out with his run, then utilise the space he creates.

I love the way Konami went with this, but it's been MASSIVELY overlooked. From a footballing perspective its awesome. I can see it pissing people off as they cant now complete the passes they could on previous PES games. You can still do it,and even better than previous games, but most importantly you have earned it. And that, more than anything, is what I love so much about PES 2009. You need to think about your body position, your best foot, everything, it's so unforgiving in this department otherwise.

The proof of the pudding with me, and the yardstick is always how much of my time it gets. I'm very fussy, impatient and wont settle for shit. I have played PES 2009 more than any other PES and that is a huge statement.

Bearing in mind PES 2008 got about 2 weeks of my time, PES 2009 is on a different planet. With PES 2010 ironing out the stupid, needless little flaws PES 2009 has, I cant wait for what is shaping up to be one hell of a game of football.

About PES 2009s ability for dribblers to jink around defenders. All the previews mention that PES2010 is not as easy or forgiving. I hope it's just a case of the defensive AI being better than Messi being poorer/unresponsive.

I haven't played the FIFA demo yet and definitely wont bother till I receive my order. But what I've seen has been plain. Except of course that Drogba stumble and finish which was finger licking good.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

After trying the demo of the other footy game it's made me look forward to PES2010 more than I was before.
Not that I thought PES2009 was a great game at all, but I simply don't like the other game even with all of the great animations and stuff.
All I want from PES2010 is improved 'keepers and defending and I'll be happy.

I can see the passing is the same mate, just more fluid. And the defence is alot tighter which means you really will need to think about everything even more, and utilise the card and sliders. Which is just heaven for me.

I'm happy to see people on Evoweb actually appreciating the magic that brought us all here in the first place mate. When I first started posting on here it was like a ghost-town. Full of negativity, with the long time PES fans not bothering to post because they couldnt be doing with all the crap that was being spewed in here.

More and more the fans seem to be coming back, which is great to see. I love this site, always have and always will. The editing section has brought more smiles to my face than a women ever could.

I wont ever join another PES site, this is my home, and here I will stay.:SAL:

What's made me the happiest is that post from Lami about BAL, brilliant. I did 8 seasons on BAL before I'd pretty much won everything. I was completely addicted to that and its concept. I've been playing a bit of Legends online and had an absolute scream. My players stats are off the map, and I have Messi, Ronaldo, Sergio Ramos and Cech in my Legends team. They are not a bad bunch of lads.

I'm not sure if you have seen this, but its worth a second look even if you have. It's fucking awesome. The way the guy has used real-time commentary samples over the goals, and in most cases matching the players names is amazing. The Gerrard free-kick sounds class and the Rooney goal that was sampled off his first premiership goal for Everton against Arsenal, fits perfectly.

Feast your eyes and ears on this little baby ........

Nice one Jimmy. Just shows how much atmosphere plays a part in recreating the football experience.

Gerrard free-kick+Martin Tyler commentary was superb.

That may be for the best, zee. It's a bit too easy to dribble past players in PES2009 (and 2008) so if it's tougher that's fine by me. But the PES philosphy has always been about being able to take on defenders without the need for tricks or gimmicks, just simple dribbling ability. It just got too easy the last couple of years.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

I scored a great goal on the other game, the ball went in off the post but it all felt so lifeless, There is nothing in that game that I can say gets me off my seat, Its all so souless and non descript.

PES has that something you just cannot describe and I'm looking forward to it even more now that I've had a look at the other.

I remeber scoring in PES after taking the lead at highbury and being battered for the rest of the game, Arsenal were throwing everyone forward, they had a corner in the last minute, it broke to my forward who sprinted off down the wing, swung in a medium height cross which was met at the back post and side footed beautifully into the net for the win..............I jumped out of my seat, it felt real (PES5)............no other footy game has been able to re-create that since that wonderful game and FEEFAAA has certainly never ever given me anything like those scrambled counter attack goals.

Running through treacle, with floaty ball physics is not my idea of fun , PES has weight, feeling and diversity............this is what I hope will return with 10:)

Bang on, Doctor.

I'm glad there's still a few of us around that value this kind of involving experience. I'm really excited for the demo now.

agreed. It's such a fine balance you know. It cant be to easy as 2008 and 2009 were. But you don't want the situation that you had with FIFA09 which was piss poor in that you needed to resort to the trick stick. We'll have to wait and see what 2010 holds in store for us.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

is that joe cole, what the fuck is he doing with those shit fcking boots on, joe coal has always had nike tiempo boots and always will, I know pes is gana be quality but the range of boots is shocking especialy when they actualy have the liscence, why does the other game have a boot in different colours and we dont, especialy as our game is brilliant in idividuality, what is more individual on a player besides his face and hair and body build, they have to have more boots, pes has one colour for each boot, most boots have atleast 3 colours, if they dont let us do it in edit mode, they could atleast do it for us, is it so hard.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

I'm more worried about the defenders than joe "coal's" boots to be honest. Is that the "zonal defence" that seabass is bragging about? ;)

It's a matter of taste J and trust me I am hard to please, but the other is just not enjoyable........there are some that love it, die hard PES fans adore it now, but it's only because Konami lost thier way. If 10 is back packed with magic, just watch those feeeeefaaaa boys come back in thier droves.

Captured buy the power of gloss and animations........no sireeee not me, it looked ace when I watched it and saw the screens but its just like the past incarnations.

i agree totaly with you and i know that boots are not the most important thing in the game but i enjoy the edit mode pretty much! and there are very few boots! for example the nike mercurial is very beautiful but just that horrible blue is poor...very poor!

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

From my perspective, it's not about competing with FIFA, it's about getting a better WE/PES. One that is worthy of being called next gen. Something that lives up to our expectations. That doesn't mean FIFA is not a good game, but it's a matter of personal taste.

Well I'm going to be buying Fifa10 and giving it a lot of time. It does play a fantastically smooth and satisfying passing game of football, but the ball physics are still a little too floaty for my liking, and the individuality isn't as pronounced as I would like. I'm worried about the longevity of the game once the classic Fifa honeymoon period ends after a month or so.

I think PES2010 looks like a return to form this year and about time too, but I'm not so sure the old fans will come back in their droves. All credit to EA for that.

I don't think any FIFA players would have any hesitation in returning to PES IF things went back to basics and Konami sorted themselves out.

But let's face the facts, PES lost a lot of fans after PES6 turned out to be a bit of a mess and since then it's hardly improved. Many PES fans will say PES5 is the best football game ever, a FOUR YEAR OLD game! Does that not say it all? That Konami haven't been able to improve a game four years old after numerous attempts AND with far more power in consoles now?

I haven't got any reason to believe Konami are suddenly, after four years, going to magically change PES 2009 into some kind of game that will beat FIFA 10 AND PES5. It just wont happen. I'd love it to happen, I loved my PES days! But Konami have had tons of time and done nothing with it.

Regardless of being a FIFA or PES fan these days, not many people will say the best PES games have come after PES5, it's going to take a HUGE overhaul of 2009 to fix PES.

Roll on the PES 2010 demo, I'm REALLY hoping Konami pull this out of the bag and I can have two footy games to play this season :)

That's the sad truth, Dags. Four years and a newer generation of console power at their disposal and Konami still haven't bettered PES5. A sad indictment of Konami.

I honestly don't think PES2010 will be the PES5 killer we all hope for, but if it even gets close that will be fine by me.
