Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Lower teams ftw :D Have had some great games on PES with lesser teams, I went through a phase where the only team I would use online was Iran! I got to know what each player was good/bad at and played to their strengths, I remember beating Brazil and France a few times :D.

Yeah when you can pull it off it gives you a right good feeling, and if the other bloke disconnects its even funnier cuz you know hes like

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Ok guys long time no post, but I would like to give you some info about the pes 2010. You dont like it, then dont read it. I have only played the PS3 version as I dont like the Xbox controller. I was at gamescom for 2 days, played PES 2010 for like 4 or 5 times and after that I had seen enough and I wanted to play other games (like GOW 3 and Uncharted 2) Konami stand was one of the few developers with little waiting time by the way.

I was there because of the Dutch Finals of PES 2009 which was being held at Gamescom.

The demo at gamescom was indeed at 80%. After the first 2 days Konami received a lot of complaints about the passing and shooting system. Seabass didnt show up at the Konami stand (unlike Hideo Kojima) so no comments or messages from him unfortunately about some changes for the final release.

What I can say is as followed: I have played the game since ISS (SNES) and ISS Pro for the PS1 and played every sequel. I stopped playing the game in 2008 because of the bugs and annoying gameplay and Konami continued this way in 2009 so I stopped playing PES 2009 after 2 matches. I refused to play Fifa, but I have heard that it has some major changes and it's according to PES fans better than PES 2009 and 2008.

PES 2010 has significantly changed compared to 2009. Graphically a lot better and gameplay wise it is much slower and realistic now. It comes close to simulation. A lot of players said the gameplay is close to the FIFA 2009/2010 gameplay. I couldnt play with the 360 degree dribble as I am not used to play with the analog stick. As I've heard from the former Dutch champion he said he couldnt notice in the demo anything new about the 360 dribbling. So maybe that will be something new for us and noticable in the final release.

The most irritating part of this demo was passing and shooting. You cannot play an instant passing game or like we call it in Dutch 1 time passing play. Whenever you give a pass the player first needs to control the ball and then your command (pass) will be operated. This clearly takes out the speed and joy of the game. So you can forget the Barca passing play with instant passes and direct passes in split seconds. The player first controls the ball and then passes it away to his teammate. Konami said that they would look into this point, but no adjustments about this annoying thing as been announced. Also long passes from the keeper or from your own field towards the other side of the field have been changed. The high pass button is too sensitive and the power bar looks endless. Like the old pes a high pass with about 70% power of the bar would give a splendid pass across the field. Now even like 50 or 60% of the power bar gives you a pass which will and at the second ring of the stadium.

As for shooting, the same goes for what I have mentioned for the passing topic. Whenever your striker is in a great position to hit the ball in one time in the net, he will first control the ball and then shoot it. This causing your chance to mess up immediately and slowing down your game. Forget the instant shots after a pass cos I havent seen it in the demos and this goes for all other players at gamescom.

As far as the 80% goes, I couldnt strongly believe it was ready for 80% but Konami said it was 80% besides the other modes and teams. Only L'pool, Barca, Germany and France were selectable as I could remember. There might be 2 other teams missing but I cant remember those sorry. Also I couldnt select the manual keeper as Konami has announced it will be back in 2010. The menu looks ok and clean and the card system can be a great add-on for weaker teams and for players who like to play with different formations and with lots of tactics. I regret it that I wasnt able to fully look into the card and tactics systems because of other gamers which were waiting to have a play. But you can set up now your own style of play whenever you have ball posession and when defending. Also you can set the amount of pressure towards your opponent and you can set different tactics and mentality for each player individually. So not only the attack arrows and defence mentality.

I still dont know what I can expect from the final release. If the passing and shooting stays the same as in the demo, I would strongly suggest not to buy the game as you will get irritated and utterly frustrated when you play more and more games. The gameplay itself is good, the 360 dribble should give a more realistic feeling according to Konami so maybe that's worth it but if this 20% remaining does not include changing the passing and shooting of the game, Konami will definitely lose their share to EA.

This "controlling the ball, then passing/shooting" is also annoying on PES2009. I had been playing PES6 old-gen, then switched to next-gen 2009, and OMG... what a t*rd.

THX, just exactly what I thought, they are still coming with some new stupid ideas they are trying to add into their absolete old engine instead of making good next gen game with new engine. 80% 70% 60% , who cares.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Thanks for the Gamoscom Reveiw F_Totti albeit a depressing one.

I am 97 % certain that this will not be the final game that we get. It has pretty much been confirmed by everyone that's played the media preveiw build. I would've said 100% but 2.8% is lost faith in Konami and the other 0.2% is lost as the result of the Fifa fanboys getting the better of me.

Lets see what Konami brings out on release day, as we all know that they will release the Gamescom version as the demo

Seriously, if they don't deliver the goods they will feel it where it hurts, in their pockets.....

YouTube - PES 2010 Gameplay #14 - Germany v France

in this video it show the ai play one touch passing..so i don't see a one touch pass a problem in this game..
you said the code is 80%,even seabass has said the code is a month old..pesgaming already play the latest code (70%) and they really pleased with what they see so far..

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

I guess,he didn't like one-touch passing or shooting in gamescon.Because response time is awful in gamescon build.Eveybody know that. But gamescon build is a little old.Konami still works for response time.

And one-touch passing is not hard in pes 2009.Ok it's better at current-gen pes games because we know ,pes5-6 or whatever so much better than next-gen pes games in this area(response time).

And that's a bad thing??? It's very realistic. I would HATE to see pinball passing in PES2010.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

indeed.. the sickest part in PES is the pin ball. because the pass is just automate and noobs just mashed the X button and end it up with the square.... there you go. complete pin ball. complete BS

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

I sometimes play my mate online and we play with random teams, played ivory coast v south korea one time, what a game 4-3.A lot of people i think overlook these type of games and the fun that can be had from them.

I spent another 4 hours on PES 2009 online last and some unbelievable games again. I was riding a 5 game winning streak with Atheletic Madrid and Valencia. Simao, Maxi Rodriguez, Luis Garcia, and Maniche were playing some sublime football at times, and Forlan and Aguerro were a constant menace. I would go as far as to say the first two games were the best two games I have ever had on any PES game.

The thing I love more than anything about 2009 is the decision making with regards play. For the most part you have to keep it simple with the standard pass button. Mixing up the 1,2's and lofted and decked through balls is a skill in itself.

I then played a guy who was flicking through random teams, so I thought I'd go for Turkey. They are usually quite technical for a lesser team but last night quite a few of my starting 11 were on blue arrows or the dreaded purple. The guy I was playing chose Ivory Coast.

He battered me 5-2. He played some nice football, but the free flowing passing of the Spanish teams were gone, and the Turkish players just didnt perform. I was beaten by power and strength, some nice football, and the fact the Turks were not playing to the best of their usual ability.

I couldnt believe how physically strong Ivory Coast were. The Turks have quite a small side, albeit with usually decent technique, but I got battered from pillar to post. Ivory Coast's players were as strong as an Ox and I simply couldnt live with their power and strength. They were frightening at times. Those guys were fucking beasts.

It was a good game though, but so far removed from the Milan v Valencia games I'd just played.

I honestly cannot understand why people dismissed 2009 so badly. I love the PES titles. I absolutely hated PES 2008 though, it was just horrible, arcade like crap. 2009, even with all its flaws and silly animations at times really made a huge change in direction with regards how you need to play it. It was a massive, massive change, and something I noticed straight from the demo for which I was hopelessly addicted. I have never had to reinvent myself on how I have to play PES like I did with 2009. Not since PES 5. I hate the fact all your beautifully, thought out, patient football can be destroyed by speedy players who can just round the keeper and score, but the fundemantals with,
regards how precise you have to be about everything, seems so have been lost by alot of people because they focus too much on the niggles and not on what Konami tried to do last year.

PES 2009 is SO SO far removed in footballing terms from 2008 its unreal. I will never be swayed by the people that think just because players can exploit the fast players in 2009 that it then makes it an arcade game. If you want to play football, and you have a footballing brain, then you really can play the best football on any PES. You also will have earned it, which is more important to me than anything. I remember reading a preview for PES 2009 and they likened it to PES 5. I couldnt agree more from the footballing sense.

If PES 2010 keeps what it has with 2009 in the area's I personally feel accurately represent the game, and add to it,and remove the flaws. Then I couldnt be happier personally. I will wait for the demo, but from what I have seen on the recent video's, the passing is still the same. It's still unforgiving, and you only get what you deserve. Passing and hoping are things of the past. If the ball isnt really on, then dont play it. This works so, so well. Long gone are the days of pressing through ball and it 'just finding your player'. Or even the simple pass for that matter.

I would love to play someone from here online just so I can show what I mean and what is capable when you put your mind to it.

Hello there mate

Did you get much lag online last nite coz there was a server update scheduled for the 1st September so I was just wondering if this could have been the supposed new server applied??

Hello there mate

Not really, it was pretty good to be honest. I think with the lag its a different game, the player collisions are terrible and it plays a totally different game to the offline variation. But last night was good, had some good connections. I just wish it was like that all the time, and that players that play online would choose to want to play a game of football as opposed to passing it to the likes of Kaka, running the full half length of the pitch and cutting it back, just to get a win. Fucking pathetic that they do that, and pathetic they can do that really.

I mean, what a waste, I dont know how people get satisfaction from that I really dont. I prefer to play with lesser teams, learn their strengths like Rob said, and beat them with pure football. Stringing 10 passes to together, going back and starting again if nothings on, then biding your time till the opportunity arises is what I love.

I always try to play with flair. I wont go for the easy goal, I would much prefer to try and pull off the cheeky lob, even if it means I squander easy chances for the win. It's not about the ranking points for me. I just want to play football. So the player I'm playing against comes away and thinks, 'Yeah, that guy played some lovely stuff there'. I like to entertain my peers whilst entertaining myself.

( No innuendo puns here please )

Rob, do you have Xbox or PS3 ?

But did u still get some lag then? Could you see a red light etc beside the other players gamertag etc?

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Yes but was there still a bit of lag etc? Was it even close to the way the servers were with pro evo 6?

Never played PES 6 online mate. But there was no drastic changes if thats what you mean. I had decent connection for the most part but I really dont believe that had anything to do with a server update. It's far too late in the day for them to sort out the PES 2009 servers, especially as the new game is only around the corner and they will be concentrating on implementing the 'New' server system, supposedly.
