Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Well spotted :)).

I hope they bring back that camera "tilt" option, where you pressed L1/R1 while on the camera selection and the camera would turn rather than just move along the sideline, I had this on one or two notches, it looked very nice :)).
They're not bringing it back this year. Why? Because they're stupid.

The spotted view is not an ingame camera... it's for tactics... something to explain AI in development. If it were in game, the line would be in the exact middle, and you wouldn't see trajectory lines extending from each player.

FIFA has its flaws, but I think if PES stole FIFA's trick system it would be to the best as defending is much better in PES. It's not like EA never blatantly stole anything from PES (control scheme)

If you want camera panning back as much as I do, please, vote:

Forgive me guys if i have got this wrong, and i dont want to insult anybodys inteligence but you can knock the ball on when sprinting by applying extra (pulse)pressure to R1. timing is the key and also pace.

Buzzy, I meant knocking the ball around a defender and running in another direction and then going back to the ball - Kaka and Pato do it - if you can do that in PES please tell me (no stupid questions and all)

Reece - why did you delete your post ? or was it deleted for you?

This is actually some good PES v FIFA discussion without the mudslinging

It can be done eversince PES4 (I remember doing it a lot with Beckham in PES6).... but NOT as a trick move, but just a well-timed alteration in dribbling speed.

So you're running down the wing with a player, as a defender runs towards you, you slow down, then as he comes closer, hold R2 and hit forward once or twice according to the space you have ahead of you. The ball will be pushed past the defender, and your player will run to it passing by the defender's other side...

do u have any idea about when they are going to post those suggestions to Konami ?
the Submited Suggestion section is empty !
and we have only one month and some days before the full game relesed , so isn't the time to post our suggestions to Konami !

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Seeing as it comes out 2 weeks after Fifa10 (and Fifa10 is done basically) i doubt anything suggested will make it in at this late stage.

PES2011 will be very interesting then..

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Hello people, I stopped checking this thread for a while because as in every year the discussions always end up in circles until a demo is out.
Just wanting to say hi ^^!

Yes your right Buzzy, you can, R2 and R1 combined with the left stick gives you the option to move it out of your feet in PES 2009. Not the same way as Fifa but still very effective once timed correctly. The better players have the ability to do this better.

It also helps with the static playing receiving the pass syndrome, keeps the ball moving, I use this alot to be honest. You can also, if you time it right, drag the ball with base of you foot and roll it away from players to give you the extra yard. The Spanish players seem to do this more.

I love playing with the Spanish teams in 2009. Valencia, Athletic Madrid are bar far my teams of choice. The passing and technique of the players are something else if you use them right. I beat the likes of Man Utd, Barca last night online with these teams effortlessly. The huge irony, was that Forlan seemed to score everytime I played against Man Utd last night. It was like he had a point to prove to Fergie. His heading under pressure is off the map.

(I did say before that I wasn't going to post PES v FIFA stuff in here, but I think i'm discussing stuff properly and not being a twat like I have been at times )

 It's great to have you in the discussion Rob, you bring alot to the table.

Hold R2 to get the ball into your feet. Its a must in 2009 as all the feints work off this. Tap left on the left stick ( or back to which ever way your facing ) then push it right, or forward. Thats the nutmeg or the move your talking about. Takes perfect timing to complete though, you need to draw the lead. You will 'meg' the player, or knock it round the other side of him. It's hard and takes practice, but Kaka is brilliant at it.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Never used tricks in either games. Mostly it's just a switch of direction and a tap of sprint that does enough for me. Tbh whenever I do/try tricks in a match I feel like a tw@t, and if someone does it to me I try to hack them down. :D

As for the actual control style, I think FIFA's main problem is that it's dynamic with the angle you are running in, so really hard to get right. The old pes' (haven't played 08 or 09 except a quick go on the demo's) I liked the flipflap as Jimmy explained, but then you could do that without the flipflap and it would work to get past a player. Never been a fan of contextual tricks (as I hate using tricks). The r2 sidestep (or something similar based on direction and defender) in I guess a semi contextual setting would be a good medium for me. It comes down to timing to get past a player but it isn't a difficult combination of movements. But the whole idea of having to work and practice is a great aspect of FIFA imo.

mehhh......I'll stick to not using them.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Why do you disagree with it?

You can try them out and look for yourself...

Passing - You can play a long low pass with ANY player and it will go straight onto the boot of the recipient, not an inch either way. Through balls are always perfectly weighted into the path of the recipient etc. no matter who strikes it. In PES5 this wouldn't happen.
I was also talking from experience about the online games with lower teams, so I don't see how you can say it isn't the case when I have seen teams like Wycombe play perfect one-touch football against me... Again, on the rare occasion someone on PES5 online picked a lesser team, none of this ridiculous football was seen.

Dribbling - attempt trying to dribble past a player with a fairly slow player like Del Piero without using loads of fancy tricks, just well timed changes in direction... It won't work, the defender will just react instantly and take the ball from you almost every time. Of course you can blitz past defenders with anyone who is strong and quick like Ronaldo, but the technically gifted players who aren't strong/quick are useless. On PES5 Del Piero/Zidane were pretty much main men on the team.
Nobody online against me/my club has managed to dribble past defenders with changes of direction either, so it isn't that i'm crap.

If you still think the same way then fair enough, but whenever I play FIFA those things seem pretty obvious...

Great post, fully agree. As soon as you take clever changes in pace and direction with responsive control out of the equation, you are forced to make idiotic passes just so you don't lose the ball. Thus contributing to the overall frustration in FIFA's version of football.

Football is about space and angles, not tricks so much.
If a defender is screaming in for a tackle, a quick change of direction will open up a passing lane previously unavailable, and the defender is out of the equation. This never happens in FIFA unless you're doing some trick before the situation arises (due to the laggy response times).

This is where Konami understand a fundamental that EA is yet to grasp.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

PES5 dribbling wasn't unique at all? If anything it wasn't anywhere near individual or life like to the counterpart. What happened was the response times of skilled players increased. I think people look at these things with red tinted glasses to be fair.

Shooting and Passing where things which did have an effect on PES but that was down to assisted controls. Passing with Arsenal or Barcelona IMO on FIFA 09 feels completely different to passing with Stoke City IMO.

I completely disagree with both points. Dribbling in PES5 did make the players feel unique and like their real-life counterparts. Yes, the response time of skilled players was increased, but that's realistic and is evidence of how the player stats made a genuine difference in PES. It's not just shooting and passing. Players like Deco and Ronaldinho were a joy to play as because of their tricky dribbling ability.

If all players have the same response times then we go down the Fifa route of lack of individuality. I'm happy with some scripting and assists if it makes the players feel unique and true to life. Which is everything I want from a football game.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

One thing is sure...whoever is in charge of player faces is a genius...there is not a single sport game which is even close to that photorealism.

We were talking about first touch when receiving a pass. In Fifa you use the right stick to direct your first touch and it would be good if PES copied this.

Hilarioius beginning of the WENB podcast....according to Adam Konami put the wrong tag on the game at the convention...they wrote 80% but it was clearly not correct...

So now he knows better than Konami itself what percentage of game dev they have completed....

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Was thinking about listening to it, but then I read:

Overall an action packed podcast, where myself and Suff don’t hold back with opinions and views - just as you would expect.

And I thought; "Uhh, yeah ok........."

That's because it IS a photo. All other next-gen sport games have moved on to 3D molds years ago.

Watch my niece as he makes a 3D structure then wrap a photograph around it.

I dont think it was 80% Charlie. If the new preview code that we have all seen is supposed to be 70%, how the hell was the Gamescom preview 80%, it's clearly lacking alot compared to the new video ???

Konami really do suck like a 2-bit dime store whore when it comes to PR.

If anything put up a sign saying 55%, dont put it higher than it is, whats that supposed to achieve ???

I hope the kit makers and options file guys are quick off the mark again this year, but I just know I'm going to have create my own Middlesbrough team from scratch !! Arrggh !!

I'm more bothered about the useless pack of idiots not being in PES 2010 than them getting relegated. They deserved it, but the useless fuckers are gonna cost me hours of time editing them back into the game for my Master League.

Selfish, selfish Boro.

At the end, the result is what matters. And Pes faces look great, but Fifa ones... well, i prefer playing Silent Hill.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

At the end, the result is what matters. And Pes faces look great, but Fifa ones... well, i prefer playing Silent Hill.

Next year, when FIFA is done refining the face molds like every other next-gen sports game, (3D molds which are fully animated by the way, unlike the solid structures with the opening jaws in PES), when you see the full range of human emotion on a player's face, you'll realize how behind Konami is, and that they will need 3-4 years to make 3d faces from scratch when every other sports game has.

Don't be short-sighted. When Konami's PES -unlike every other next-gen sports game- still uses photos wrapped around solid 3d structures (which I can do in 5 mins with freeware), then there's obviously something wrong.

As you can see, 99.9% of the time during a soccer game, players don't have emotionless dead expressions on their faces. Not that it's important. But I just want to point out the myth about "PES's amazing photorealistic faces"... which are, just photos, wrapped around 3d structure that have no potential of being animated (opening and closing jaws aside).

Loving the podcast....loving how Suff goes "UHM uhm uhm" all the time as Adamboy states all the possible "excuse cliche'" of the gaming industry.

And BTW all this "10, 27, 63,80% build" is a non sense. Point being they have to go the the most important european convention of the gaming industry with the best stable bug free demo they can possibly have. If that's what they come up with it means they could not come up with something better for the public.
