PES2010 discussion thread

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Even I have to admit that's pretty dodgy.

For a start they've used the misspelt FIFA screenshot showing "Manager Reputaion" - in the comparison section called PHYSICS. Because Manager Mode has everything to do with physics doesn't it?

Then two screenshots further down they've printed the exact same screenshot again!! It's not like there's a lack of screenshots for God's sake!!

Not only that but they talk about PES and say "players [still] practically run into eachother", when I would say FIFA suffered from this more than PES did previously. That said, the comment "it occured to us that both games seem to be turning into eachother" is something quite a few of us said at the Emirates.

Wow they hate PES. We'll have to see what happens when they do the review. Accoring to a few tit-bits the only innovation is cards and faces and the master league died a year after it was released the first time.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Qoute of the day:

FIFA 10 is being slotted together by EA's Canada studios based in Vancouver, British Columbia.

PES 2010, however, will soon appear from a sweaty Tokyo office thanks to PES Productions.

:LMAO: these people are idiots.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

I think the point they're trying to make is that FIFA seems to be a 300 man operation whereas PES seems to be made by five men in a shed. Which a lot of people have said before.

But it's obvious how frustrated they are with the PES series as a whole from the way that they word things, and the way that they word things affects their credibility...

I can't believe they said that. This is why the good journalists go online, and the crappy ones are still writing on paper.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

damn, the review is really negative, i read it expecting a positive review specially after people post here abour PSM3 but the situation of PES seems to be, in their words, "depressing"...

it must be the 50% build they reviewed, theres no mention of the 360 movement or other new stuff thats being added

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Dude you are talking about one of the most respected men in his trade in the world. If it wasn't for him and his team, football games today would not be what they are. Granted he's not as technically astute as you there infront of your High-end top of the range PC I'm sure.

I read the interview (well what I could understand) and thought that he makes excellent points and sees things that we do not necesarilly see (usually the case with a genius). I do not always agree with what he says and does but respect his place in football gaming history and know he is not done yet.

For once try and post at least one thing positive about PES, you are starting to sound like a child and seemingly bitter that Konami implemented something over a long weekend that EA hoped was their trump card....tsk,tsk this from a fellow Barca supporter.

I bet if konami didn't have 360 movement you would be writing a thesis of their inadequacies as a result of it but now that it's in you are going for footplanting.

Pathetic! I for one know where I would like to plant my foot.

Ahem.........

Agreed 110%. Really dont know why Drekkard bothers posting in this section. Nothing positive to add ever. It's boring and highlights my 'rant' post a few pages back.

I dont even read his posts anymore. But his FIFA 2008 Avatar hurts my eyes.

man, to be honest i haven´t seen this 360 movement in a single video of PES2010 and after that seabass interview i am just thinking if it´s not more a "marketing" play than actually a good and working feature.

but, of course, only after i play the game can check what it truely is.

You didnt saw it? Omg :CONFUSE:

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

The mention of long passes in the pes gaming article sounded quite good to me. I've felt long passes have never really been useful in any PES game.

Me too! I loved reading how satisfying long passes and through lobs FINALLY were... I loved that in PES6 and WE9LE...

look at the blue players' off-the-ball-run directly at the start of the video. you can see it if you watch the turf-cut.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Here we go again.... as soon as some negative reviews come up the 50% conspiracy theory is triggered.....

I still remember AdamFanBoy saying he went to Manchester to play a pes2008 code and claiming it was an awsome game that had nothing to do with the demo they played at the convention. and this was 2 years ago...and it was the worst pes ever conceived....

Yes the final build is gonna be awsome, now they just give away old crap so that all reviewers will be misled and will tell people not to buy their games...

An btw seppo when talking about 360 degree moves they do mean 360 when the player has the possession of the ball. Players off the ball always had freedom of movement.

exactly, what is the point of having 360 movement in off ball players? that adds nothing to gameplay!

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

The mag is telling what i fear the most: there are just cosmetics changes, game is fundamentally the same, there is nothing new and all the new additions are there more for marketing reasons than for gameplay improvements.

P.S.
So Han, wanna write a letter and offend the mag journalists, like you alwasy do when someone express his opinions about how poor pes has become???

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

I question id like to throw:
What do you think is the best ranking system for online?

My opinion: A point based system, where the difference between teams quality affects the score the winner gets.
So every team has a stars level (1-5 stars), based in statistics of last weeks matches, instead of harcoded level by Konami.

So if i play with a 1star team against a 5star team, it can be rewarded by giving me more points per win than my rival.

What do you think?

Brilliant idea. Exactly as it should be in my opinion. PES's unique system of player individualism is reproduced in vast variations of the differing teams overall performance. Beating the likes of the mighty Real Madrid with the likes of say Burnley should be rewarded accordingly.

As for the 360 movement ? Stop wasting your time assuming, wait for the demo, then you guys can speak from experience.

From someone who has played the latest preview code ......

360 control
Now that we have 360 control we need to understand what it is in PES. First I can clear up that the PS3 dpad has 16 way control and the 360 dpad has 8 way control. I’m being told this difference is due to hardware limitations and should not be attributed to Konami.
Anyway the left analogue sticks have full 360 control. What this means for the control system is that when you are not in control of the ball you have full control of how players move. This freedom may come as a shock to some people. Because we’ve been used to the players pretty much knowing where to expect the ball, automatically having total control of where you position players can be a bit of a shock. Some people may complain initially that the ball didn’t go straight to a player’s feet, or that they moved away from the ball when they were receiving a pass. These are the sorts of things you are going to have to learn to do, as you would in the real game. The game is less on rails, and the onus is on you to control your players and move them as you see fit.

Well, now everyone should expect to get reacquainted with how to play the game. Yes it does still feel familiar but be prepared for some new thrills and spills as you get to grips with how to play the beautiful game.
360 control does not mean you can pull off physically impossible movements from one angle to another.
It means that you have a fully subtle range of movements which you have in a normall physical fashion.
You now have to think about what your players body position is and how to move into another position naturally. For example whilst running forward you can’t suddenly change direction and start running in angles greater than 45 degrees with no change in pace.
As I’ve previously said you can’t run full pelt then change direction by 90 degrees as you currently can.
Players slow down when trying sharper turning on the ball. This means that you have to learn to slow down and speed up to make full use of your new found 360 degree movement. The faster you are, the harder it is to make sudden direction changes - obviously highly skilled dribblers will have an easier time of trying that less skilled players. Yes there is familiarity in feel and play, but there are enough differences to make you sit up and pay attention to what you’re doing in game.

Player movement animations have been considerably increased. You now get the feel that there are different types of players with more movement styles evident. The last two PES games have had a very robotic feel to them, with the same singular player animations in use. Now you have a few running styles which feel more natural. The stiff comedy running is no more.

Thats good enough for me, and falls inline with both, how I perceive Konami's concept has intergrated the system, and how it should reflect real-time physics.
