PES2010 discussion thread

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Hearing, reading and seeing what's going on, I think all PES lovers will be much more satisfied with the game than the last two years.
But thinking about the reason why Seabass an the whole ProEvo staff needed three years of next gen programming to make a decent game that gives us the feeling of the "old" PES Titles
i find an only answer.

IMO it's because of increasing the staff of developers.
I cant believe that until last years version there were only a couple of guys programming and developing the game.
Today the Videogame Industry is a billion dollar machine, the times that some guys programmed a game in a garage ar over for about 15 years.

I don't believe that Seabass never recognized the opinion of fans, testers and did never read in forums. I think that until this year they simply didn't have the possibilties of changing the things they would have changed years ago, because the Big Momma KONAMI didn't gave them the money that's necessary for MoCap and 200-300 men staff.

EA is a Huge company, you can hate them or love them, but there is one thing you can't say, that they don't spend enough money to develop and sell their products.
I think KONAMI over all learned this from EA, It's not about ideas or creativity, it's about spending money and manpower, giving your developers the possibility to make what they have in mind.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

New nice video.Seriously movements are different!Game is different!

YouTube - PES 2010 gameplay

That's the legend that is Riot playing that.

Looks good overall. The player movements still look a bit too stiff and angular for my liking. I guess silky smooth animations are going to be too much to ask from Konami. Player movements still look nothing more than 16 direction to me.

The crowd noise sounds awful, pretty much the same as 2009. But at least it is confirmed that Old Trafford is in the game.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Some contradictions about on what version on-line will be based.
Come on Konami; is it PES 6 or PES 2008?? :CONFUSE:

Hatsumi on the Konami blog, 29.06.2009 :

Online Overhaul for PES2010
Trying to explain everything in detail would get much too complicated (and boring!), but put simply we have adopted an enhanced version of the system used for PES6 examining the experience we had with PES2008 and PES2009, which guarantees a rewarding level of play control as well asno lag & warp problems. We're really excited by the results.

Seabass in an interview with Eurogamer.de:
Eurogamer: On-line was a problem in the previous issues. What will be different this time?

Shingo 'Seabass' Takatsuka: Online in the past was a problem for us. We have therefore revised the system. To be precise, the PES 2008-360-based version of our favor because we felt that it worked best at the end.

EA’s chief creative officer describes game industry’s re-engineering on VentureBeat is an article offering EA chief creative officer Rich Hilleman's outlook on "re-engineering" their business in the changing video game market to appeal to a broader and less hardcore market. The article goes into detail on what EA is doing to capitalize on this trend, and IndustryGamers highlights Hilleman's comment that they expect to see further interim console changes, referring to the Xbox 560 and a PlayStation 3.5 before a true next generation cycle. The part we are especially fascinated by is the description of what portion of a game's budget is devoted to marketing, saying: "EA now typically spends two or three times as much on marketing and advertising as it does on developing a game.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Just a quick question, what was the best on the PS3 PES 2008 or 2009, not really bothered about online play, just want a quick mess around whilst we wait for this years version.

Reason I ask, I can get 08 for £3 in blockbuster.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

At least they can say the interchangeable kits had to come to an end due to the kit manufacturers getting all funny about it.Player's breath doesn't require a license though (HAH, give it a few years and it might).

I can't understand that, it's not as if we are using the wrong kits, they're all part of the licence, so what if we match the second kits shorts with the first kits shirt, picky bastards...
What do the teams do if both sets of kits clash in some way...:CONF:

Even at £3, buying PES2008 would be a poor decision.

I don't see what the manufacturers are getting upset about. Nothing untoward is happening and no brand is being tarnished by me selecting black rather than white shorts to wear with AC Milan's home kit.

The licenses cover [this shirt these shorts these socks], and [that shirt those shorts those socks]. If you mix and match you don't have the license for that "appearance", if you see what I mean.

In other words, "give us money for every possible combination or you can only use one".

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Looks good to me. Above all, fun. I was actually willing on the England player during his attacks :SNACK:

The guy playing Germany was awful. He had his forward chasing back becoming a right back and then punted it long and surprise surprise nobody up front!!

Change player:CONF:

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Yeah that 3 tier ML was one of the features that disappeared into the konami triangle as Nick named it.
Along with the training challenge, unlicinsed team commentry names, editable boots and international challenge, which is really surprising considering it's world cup year.

Konami triangle.

Many great features have gone missing in there. Interchangeable kits, training challenges, about 25 stadia along with variable attendance settings, snow, player's breath in cold weather.

Anything else?

I didn't mind the training challenge as that helped you learn the basics, I never played the scenarios and the stadia and cold weather stuff looks lazy but will be down to time and money I guess...

On the World cup front I'm sure both camps will bring out a world cup title...

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

I'm satisfied with the pace of the game in the latest video but I can't help but wince at the animations.

I know its been mentioned several times but they can't be defended. Konami should outsource them (like the Heavy Rain devs with the graphics of that game) or hire people than can do them

Yes, but one problem with totally true animations is that the gamer loses responsivity of control, whilst waiting on the animations to play out. This may look a lot slicker to the onlooker, but imo feels a lot drudgier to the gamer.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Other sports game don't lose their responsiveness, it can be done.

Even if they don't deliver silky smooth animations they can still improve the current bunch. Its like the players are hunched over when their running.

Hi Tobi

I think the animations are improving with each "latest" video being released and with that last one i am satisfied that it is a major upgrade on 09.

They are not as bad as people are making out, yes they certainly need improving, but PES seems to be trying to simulate (although falling short) but it still looks soooo much better than any other PES before it.

Champions league online?? Can't wait for this, especially when they are using Microsoft servers, this is going to be the best PES yet IMO.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

That video was far better than the Gamescom ones. The games pace looks more slower. Both players were able to pass the ball more and keep hold of possession. They weren't running around with their finger on the R1 button at all times. Its looking good. I just hope they can add a couple more animations before it goes gold namely the running animation.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

I hope so.

I'm optimistic that online will be playable this year, partly because they got off their high horse and Konami ID is no more.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Running animations finally changed (according to the final video)? Or am I dreaming? If it is so then I am more than happy, because it is still not the final build and KOnami seems adding more and more animations till the latest code :)

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Is it possible to change the team in ML?

PESfan played a season in master league and didn't receive offers from any clubs. Also, the 5 transfers at a time may still be in place but hasn't been confirmed if that limit is down to the skill of your scout or not. I doubt it

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Thanks to everyone for the kind words. I will give my opinion as soon as I've played the full game and when I have tested the online mode. I think that the gameplay and the flow of animations gathered with online play is essential to a high score in my opinion. A sportsgame that is unplayable online is not worth a higher grade than 85% today. The online mode looks great in theory and hopefully the tournaments will revolutionize onlinemodes in sportsgames and include bookings, injuries and demeaning stamina for players. Let's hope for the best!

Thanks Caniggia, good to see you value on-line that high. As every year it is the last thing we will be informed about. We have seen what modes are in, but the main thing is if the game lags or not.
Another part on on-line might be known earlier: Is 2 vs 2 the maximium or can we hope for more ( 3 vs 3 or more )?

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

The lack of ambition in the pesloving community does strike me a lot. It seems to me a lot of lads have only played pes and keep comparing old pes and new pes. Saying pes2010 is gonna be better than 2009/08 means little or nothing.

3-4 years ago pes was not only the best sport game around, but one of the best games overall. I think gamespot rated we9 as the best pc game of that year.

We have to compare pes with the best sport title around, MBL the show, NBA 2k10, NHL10 etc...once u start doing that you'll notice how the game is light years behind of its sport rivals in terms of gameplay innovation, game modes offers, on line service etc.

A game like pes that is not based on real physics but in a series of well connected animations needs a hell a lot of animations to avoid the scripting feeling. This year is no difference that the last three, the game has a bad audio, not enought gameplay innovation, the same game modes and an online offering that is gonna match pes6...which was released 3 years ago.

I don't think we should be too pleased with this average pes.

From WENB about the NEW PES 2010 VIDEO - COURTESY OF RIOT!
Its a gameplay video of 2 skilled players on PES 2010, showing the game off the best way.
:CONFUSE::FAIL::LOL: good joke !
And why that RIOT show the last code ?? We have NDA for our code ! :CONF:

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Someone translated that Riot said at the video that the build they had is the same from Gamescom, that's why they can show it.
