DougieD from pesgaming playtested the game today. This man doesn't mince his words, infact there were calls for his head when he reveiwed PES2009. I'm looking forward to his feedback on sunday evening or monday

What use to the community are you?! ;)


I'm awaiting Cannigia's views also. Himself and Riot would be the two people whose opinion I would hold in highest regard over the years when it comes to pre-release playtests and thoughts etc...

People that get publicity for their opinions is what we need, not people who use their opinions for publicity.

x = turn right

o = go up
k = go down
space bar = shoot

haha, still better than pes2009 though.........joke!

Firstly i must say i don't think we're speaking about the same game pes2009 is a small improvement to pes 2008 which looked like the game was ported from the ps2 to the ps3 i.e. (pes2008) . I don't know if u guys from europe got a different game but i must say i was uttterly disappointed seeing this is what konami had to offer for their first introduction to next gen console gaming. PES08 / PES09 graphics, player animation , ball physics ,celebrations all remained old school 1st gen in a nut shell it failed miserably it had me pondering why the hell i bought this expensive next gen console ps3 then it hit me to see better graphics animations etc overall a truly bigger and better football experience which konami delivered on the ps one and ps2 with the winning eleven series . T he little i've read and seen pes 2010 improvements and changes should have been implemented in pes 2009 so in my opinion they backward in their endeavors this has happened because they weren't paying atttention to the fans .

I really think PES2010 will be a great game... what we have here is a post-PES2008-09 syndrome affecting the community.... all will be seen when the 2 final versions are compared head to head.

As a PC gamer, I could care less about licenses. As far as I'm concerned, PES2010 will have both the Premier League and the Bundesliga on Day 0.

pes 2009 was a success, technically 2010 will look better as it is the next gen that was waited for instead of 2009

I like seeing people who spent hours after hours playing pes09 talking like it was the worst game they ever played. Be honest for once, no pes09 was a cutting edge kinda game but it wasn't as bad as many of are trying to make it to be. I for one enjoy the game, especially teh become a legend mode. Certain gameplay mechanics were a bit disappointing but the overall experience imo was satisfying, and this years' game seems to really be a great improvement over 09, I can't wait for the demo.

IMO all vids released dont do 2010 justice. i rely more on hands on reviews from known forum members.
as i do not post a lot, i wanna at least thank the community here for keeping the news coming. still my nr. 1 evo source.

What a game that was, Emlyn Hughes International Soccer. :WORSHIP:

Man, I loved that game. It was, if I rememeber rightly the next football game on the Spectrum after Match Day 1 + 2. I upgraded my 48k Speccy for the 128k version with the built in tape deck.

I still remember buying the game after reading a review about it in the local newsagents Spectrum magazine. The games shop was only a couple of shops up from the Newsagents. I ran home as quick as I could.

My favourite buttons were the other end though. Q- up A- down. O -left P - Right, Space/M - shoot/fire.

I did have a new Joystick for this game though, and found it easier. Running down the left wing,( running from left to right). Then pullling the joystick back in the bottom left corner to lift the shot, ala Sensible Soccer but well before, but with side scrolling rather than up/down view. Some of the goals you could score on that game, at the time were stunning.

I have never seen him post in the fifa thread :D

Checking his 16 posts shows 2 in the fifa thread a month ago and the rest in here. Lets keep it that way. ;)

ps. Never said all FIFA fans are intelligent, that's why I stay well away from the EA forums! They are worse then the "bad" PES ones.

haha yes mate i'm 31....spectrum seems a distant memory now though

imagine having to load a game up through a tape recorder, these kids don't know there born! my folks bought me the spectrum 48k in 1988 for christmas

but yeah used to love that game, first addiction to footy games started then

used to play a management sim aswell called "on the bench", was so basic but kept me and my pals entertained for hours haha

anyway back to pes2010, that video above looked great...looks like it plays like pro evo of old....can't wait now!!

Thanks to everyone for the kind words. I will give my opinion as soon as I've played the full game and when I have tested the online mode. I think that the gameplay and the flow of animations gathered with online play is essential to a high score in my opinion. A sportsgame that is unplayable online is not worth a higher grade than 85% today. The online mode looks great in theory and hopefully the tournaments will revolutionize onlinemodes in sportsgames and include bookings, injuries and demeaning stamina for players. Let's hope for the best!

Having looked at endless vids of PES and Fifa, Pes looks improved but its hard to tell for sure, I dont trust what Konami say anymore, so its all going to come down to the demo.

Fifa to me still looks more realistic, and credit to EA for not being lazy by making minor improvements, which they could of done because Fifa 09 was miles better than Pes 2009.

If Konami think they can get away with just fixing the online play then they are wrong, I know they say they are revamping lots of things like animation, but it doesn't look that different at the moment.

As I say, it will come down to the demo's to get a feel of how they play, if they are both better than last years then I will probably buy both.

I have several suggestion to make next gen football game more realistic -doesn't really matter fifa or pes or even iss)

1. make 360 slow dribble (ala pes) to be the default movement in the game
2. give power bars for all kind of passing
3. optimize dribbling tricks for 360 slow dribble, this will mean that the faster you dribble, the harder to perform tricks
4. give running dribbles : manual button tap to kick the ball and power bars for how far the ball will be kicked in front of the players; this will be more similar to old FIFA games when u have to tap a button to perform running, however in this style, the faster you tap the running button, the further the ball will be kicked in front of the player.
5. in connection with number 4, give 360 free movements whenever players do running dribbles, so in the end the bigger chance to miss (or messed up) running dribbles
6. but when defending, you won't need to tap a button to run.

do you agree with my idea?

Those guys are trying too hard to force it up front. They keep playing quick passes instead of holding on to it and slowing it down a bit. Thats why all their attacks keep breaking down. Better players than the gamescom people though
