Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Yeah, wow, it's better than a 10 years old game.
No, it's better than a 10-month old game.
Oh, and I still don't see the true 360 degree dribbling. Compare it to FIFA, and give your opinion, please.

(sigh)...."True" 360-degree is not an animation. It is a gameplay option. If you can move the player in any direction from his standing position then there is true 360-degree movement. Period.

Yes FIFA10 has much, much, much better animations to show off the 360 degree movement. My 8 year old niece can see that. FIFA10's animations are out of this world. Everyone can see that. Yet, both games have 360-degree movement. This, again, is a huge step for PES2010 to separate it from every other PES that came before.

You simply cannot claim that PES2008----> PES2009 = PES2009---->PES2010. And don't turn this point into a PES vs FIFA point, because that's not what I'm saying and you doing that is only a sign of a weak argument.

You said "PES2010 is no bigger improvement than PES2009 was to PES2008", and I responded.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

That's why I said it could be refined.. so, here's another version that takes your remark in account:

Let's say you play with Milan and have Pato and Zigoni upfront. Performing exactly the same shot, the power bar goes up identically for both players but they'll shoot according to this diagram:

PATO:
too weak - weak shot ----------------------------- perfect ----------------------------- hard shot - mishit
patos.png

0% - POWER BAR FILLS THIS WAY --------------------------------------------------------------> - 100%

ZIGONI:
too weak ----------- weak shot ------------------- perfect ------------------- hard shot ----------- mishit
zigoni.png

0% - POWER BAR FILLS THIS WAY --------------------------------------------------------------> - 100%

Of course, the power bar will take exactly the same amount of time to fill either for Pato and Zigoni, and the difference is just this: the higher is the "shooting" ability of the player, the larger the green bit of the diagram would be!!

So, you can see that shooting with Pato you have a "larger amount" of the power bar that will result in a good shot (green part) while with Zigoni you'll have to hit the perfect centre of the power bar to have a good shot, otherwise it'd be too weak or too hard.

So, hypothetically, if the bar takes 1 second to fill at 100%, with Pato you'll have the time between 0.2s and 0.8s to get a good shot, while with Zigoni you'll only have the time from 0.4s to 0.6s.. Hope it's clear enough..

Now, this idea I like. If implemented properly then this would transform shooting into more of an art. As long as the power bar charges very quickly so it's not too easy to hit a perfect shot every time, then I could see this really working and would certainly add to the individuality of the players.

Good idea.:APPLAUD:

Amen to that. Going to quote you in another forum, if you don't mind :P

1st September - Online Update!!!

Played a couple of ranked matches in PES 2009 earlier and noticed in the info part that there will be an update on the 1st September!

I have a feeling that this is gonna be the switch to the microsoft server and a wee test for us to see how things are running seeing that the release of PES 2010 is really just around the corner!

What do you all think?

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

From Caniggia's Blog(Translated):

I lost 1-0. Men. It felt wonderful.

I squeezed and I squeezed. Lots of chances came back to Lyon. I shot at pole. Wall play me through and shot straight at the goalkeeper. In another scenario, I had an open goal and goalie saves in some magical way, plus the ball then bounces off an opponent out. In a third situation, but my goal waved off for offside. And incredibly unfair. But really. In some moments you do not win even though it has been the better player. It is simply a bad day at work.

This is football and it is this kind of feeling I want in a football game. That it can win despite being a worse player. As a better player, it can not be outplayed, but they may miss target 100ggr because of his bad cold. I like the chance and I like a underdog and most of all, I like the fact that each målchans hopefully will not be the same. Thousands of animations will make tomorrow's game to unprecedented experiences with as many different outputs.

In PES, I do not always able to predict a winner. However, this fact becomes a smokescreen when people just play with the best teams. I want to be able to threaten the less the law, show off my skills and my gameplay by linking together the various tactical elements of the PES. I hope there is time for it now. After 1-2 months the game who want to get really good at the game ate up PES and found weaknesses in the game engine and probably made the game to a so-called "one-trick pony." That is why I enjoy visiting. When I have not found any such weaknesses in the hope that one tactic and style of play is not the right thing in PES 2010th

Nothing special. It is a regular maintenence and that happened before. I was never able to see differences.

Because Google translate sucks.

He doesn't want to predict a winner, but it's hard when people use the best teams. he want to threat with the lower teams and be able to show off his skills and tactics parts.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

PES 2008
PSM3 Magazine UK
86/100
A backward step in some ways. But it's still PES, and so remains horrifyingly addictive. [Dec 2007, p.62]

Pes 2009
88/100
PSM3 Magazine UK
Sterling footy action but the lack of new ideas is starting to grate.
[Nov 2008, p.62]

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

PSM3 remind me of myself about 4 years back when all i wanted to do was play pro evo and nothing else mattered. even if the other game was half decent, i'd only give it a cursory glance.

Yeah that idea is perfect. One of the reasons I do not understand people like Adam who are opposed to 360 degree passing and shooting because the players individuality is lost. Bollocks. I've tried to explain to him this idea is needed for PES to feel unrestricted. Instead he got all defensive and said play FIFA for that.

Excuse me if i have missed something here, but doesnt the players shooting stats make a difference? so even if they both shot at the exact same point on the meter there would be some differences anyway.
or do you mean it would be good from a visual point of view? if so surely the bar moves too quick for you to appreciate this.

edit - when i shoot its more of a feeling than using the power bar, if this makes any sense.

You're right but *aLe was making the point that the power bars should be player specific. It would be like golf games where you have a sweet spot in your swing meter,but in this case the better the shooting stats the bigger the power bar sweet spot. The better players would have a bigger sweet spot on the power bar and hitting a powerful shot would be easier with these players, but less able players would have a narrow sweet spot so the chances of hitting a weak or miss hit shot are increased if you don't charge the power bar right.

I think it's an interesting idea and would help differentiate more between the good and bad players in front of goal.

Yes certainly wouldnt do any harm. I think also using it for free kicks could help.

edit - in fact the more i think about it, it would be fantastic for free kicks.

I hope the commentary is sorted out, why dont they talk about FOOTBALL and the PLAYERS on show, rather than the s*** they talk in PES2009 - “All ambulances are at the ready and all insurance policies have been checked”. This was before a friendly match! And another comment along the lines of “the substitute is ready to come on but he looks tired, he was warming up before, maybe hes done too much”. Come on, does any decent commentator talk about getting ambulances ready for a friendly match? WTF Konami, Get those idiots off the commentary and get a half decent partnership! If we are going to suggest violence in the pre match build up, at least let us do vicious tackles and punch/kick/headbutt other players and even the ref! Sound like a good PES? Erm.. HELL NO! So get the s*** commentary out of the game SEABASS!!! NOW!!

Got psm3 mag october edition and PES beats FIFA in a head to head comparison, JUST.

The result was scored PES 14 - FIFA 13.

PES won in;
general dribbling
Tricks
Master league vs Manager mode
Editing/customisation
Tactics/formations

FIFA won in;
360 dribbling(PES is more noticeable at walking pace)
Passing
Commentary/soundtrack(suprise suprise)
Ai/CPU difficulty

WHILE THEY DREW IN;
Shooting
Online(psm3 more excited by PES potential)
Licensing(no champions league or international tournaments for fifa)
Game modes
Tackling and heading
Presentation/Menu navigation
Set pieces(despite FIFAs set piece editor)

R2+Right stick is back for tricks,
Note that the head to head comparison of the games were said to be at’75%’ not complete games, but still looks promising for PES.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Isnt general dribbling the same as 360 dribbling?

preview.....

So, in order to give PES the edge, they made the games draw in:

ONLINE (which one has been offering smooth 10 vs 10 for a year?)
SET PIECES (ummm....editable vs fixed?)
LICENSING (who cares about Europa and UEFA when not all the teams are licensed VERSUS Premier League and Bundesliga)
PRESENTATION (are they blind?)

The scariest thing though is the fact they found the AI to be smarter in FIFA....

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

That "competition" between PES and FIFA shows how biased that magazine is.

PES and FIFA DREW in licenses ???? I think it's a simple knock out victory for FIFA. They got all the licenses except for the CL and the EL and PES even can't manage to have the licences for all the teams participating in both these competitions.

That magazine is not credible.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

From PES 2008 and onwards the ball physics
seems off to me, so much that I can't see a gameplay video without thinking about it. Especially crosses is terrible, but overall it really feel odd to me and more like something else than a football, anyone feeling the same?

i feel exactly the same, its like an iron ball on a magnetic field, it dosent feel natural or lifelike at all, this can just ruin the whole gameplay even with perfect animation and graphics
