Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

I'm calling shenanigans on the 360 movement until I see it in a video.

When i first heard it had it, it was a first day buy, but now it's no buy for me until I see it.

watching the seabass vid, he was slow dribling and the passes and movement were still at fairly large angles. sorry. Maybe there are more degrees but i doubt it's true 360. We'll see for sure with the demo.

They are both playing with the D-pad though, that must limit the range of movement they have. I've noticed a few touches and times when controlling and close dribbling where it looks to have more angles than the standard 8.

I guess we'll only know once we get to play it.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Exactly Jimmy. I haven't played Master League in 2 years now, and I can't wait to have a crack at 2010 now that it's finally had a revamp.

PES 2008 got literally binned after 3 weeks. I really did throw it away. It was the worst game of football I have ever played in my life. I went straight back to the PS2 and PES 6. Should have gone back to PES 5 looking back, but loved the Fifa commentary patch and all the other patched bells and whistles.

I put more time into PES 2009 than any other since day one. People easily dismissed it due to the major flaws. I lived with those as for the first time since PES 5 you no longer could just press pass and it went to a man. Now you had to give your player as much of a chance to make the pass based on his stats. Aim the correct way, on his best foot, etc. Do this and it rewards you, dont and it doesnt. You cant just play a through ball in the air and watch the defence open like the red sea to cheat the pass for you. If it isnt on, dont even attempt it. Thats how it works. Play your percentages as Alan Hansen always says. Konami in my opinion definately got right back on track in with PES 2009, but spoiled what could have been so much better with silly, inexcusable flaws.

Now some people maybe put off by this, I wasnt. I'm a footballer first and a gamer second. I played Jamezinho last week online and we played some beautiful football at times, it was nice to play with the likes of Turkey and play to their strengths as opposed to the Barcelona shitty sprint-fests.

Which really spoilt PES 2009.

Sorry for the OT, just cant watch these video's at work so will comment when I get home.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

In their press release Konami talks largely about 360°, so i think it's in.

It will be suicidal by Konami to claim this into an official press release and not implement it ingame

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

its just not as obvious as fifa i think, im sure its in

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

As I have said before animations are aesthetic - yes we want them to be great but not a showstopper for me - hope they improve massively next year because animation leads to immersion.

What I didnt like (from the last vid) and what needs to to be fixed from a gameplay perspective are those backheels over distance to a teammate's feet. The best players in the world usually use backheels quickly over short distances or when they are unchallenged in open space. Here we have defenders practically running into an opponent then magically heeling the ball over distance.

I can overlook the Messi cross (calling it poor animation) but you cant be running head long into an opponent and then play a pass in the opposite way no problem.

These are the things that should be aggressively worked on - the animations will come - hopefully soon (next year)

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

I think its due to the fact that FIFA's animation goes well with 360 movement, and PES is clearly not up to FIFA's standard in regards to animation(a bit choppy and not as seamless), but there are instances in the gameplay videos where its slightly noticeable. We'll see for ourselves once we play it.

The game is set to be released on 22/23rd of October, probably we'll get the demo at the earliest, at the end of September or latest at mid October. I've haven't got a clue obviously.

EDIT: lol at Seabass's reaction.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Phew caught up at last. Not gonna comment on game after reading all the posts whats the point? People aint gonna be swayed by my opinions,as they all have there own minds. Fifa or pes or both you decide! Btw on a lighter note at the end of the seabass gameplay vid, has the french guy got a doobie stuck behind his ear for after match contemplation with seafish.lol

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

On the 360 movement - lets see some players using analog stick and also players who try to do more than just head for the wings and cross.

I must admit - I am going to have to hunt down more videos of the "other game" because I am not readily seeing the vast gulf gameplay wise. 2010 looks like 2009 and other 10 looks quite similar to other 09

As the wiser ones have already said - watit for the demos if you are only purchasing one.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

lol thanks mate, the fifa demo is out in 2 weeks so im guessing it will be around the same time

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Anyone got some Fifa proof of 360 dribbling to compare against? I agree - can't see any difference in Pro Evo 2010 although I think people have always made far too much of it and 90% of people who go on about it like it's x-ray vision or something.

Personally I'm not sure 360 dribbling is actually gonna be particularly great and, as usual, EA are massively overselling it as a concept. I mean last year EA talked about how they made 25000 changes to Fifa 08 but even then they had a rubbish shooting system, an unforgiveably massive ball-trapping glitch at launch and player models that looked like something out of Trapdoor.

Despite this, if Konami have full-on lied about this 360 malarkey it would be comical but irrelevant. In my view they can easily produce a top-class game that is better than Fifa without 360 dribbling and I think the game is looking ok.

How do I get the Seabass video to play?

Agree with ya a bit, but I do think 360 is an improvement to 8/16 directions as it gives us more angles to work with or more freedom with movements.

Since they announced the feature so majestically, I think either KONAMI or EA should've created a trailer/video which showcases the 360 movement. I mean, just go to training mode and show a video of the PS3/360 controller on one side and the in-game player movement on the other side demonstrating the so-called 360 movement.
Like u said, its not a blatant feature on the eyes, but I'm sure it'll make a difference once we play it ourselves.

I don't think so lol, anyway, Fifa 10 is more akin to 360 then PES, Pes simply looks like a few more animations have been added, I noticed 360 on the very first video leak of Fifa, when C Ronaldo is running down the wing.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

The Seabass video is easily the best, so far. The Ballack celebration scene looked like one of those old CGI intros... amazing visuals.

But the game is still too fast, and it's not comforting to see Seabass AND the other player always trying to penetrate from the sides. I guess if the game were slower, the player would have time to devise more innovative tactics, and maybe create shooting chances from outside the box.

Also, the net physics were really bad when France scored. It seemed like jello.... but I'll live with them, though it would be neat to have Football Kingdom nets :)

360 degree movement was most apparent in this video... but with a slower pace MANY problems would be solved.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

At what time is the seabass reaction? Skipped through most of the vid and only found a headed goal. Let me know, please don't make me watch nearly 10min of PES crapimations.....

It's in the realtime presentation. I wouldn't go there. Konami really would have been crowing about it and showing realtime demos of 60dribbling if it's such a prominent feature. That's why i'm skeptical. Maybe everyone is playing with the d-pad still...

Edit: And, no disrespect, but you're crazy. 360 dribbling with open up the possibilities. Being limmited to 8 and 16 directions is a joke in the year 2009. We have analogue controls. The freedom to open up play with imaginative moves is going to be killer. Watch for some of the expert vids that crop up from these games. You'll be amazed.

Edit: Don't want to clog the thread with back and forth about the other game.
edit: If you want evidence of 360 movement in fifa look no further than that presentation vid. Even to draw the lines for the create-a-freekick shows it off. You can't draw those smooth lines/curves without that new movement. Also the end of the conference shows Wallcott and Rooney beating players with it. The problem is we've not seen anyone even attempt the new finisse dribble or even a slow dribble in any showfloor vids yet.
