PES2010 discussion thread

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

You know the more I look forward to it the more my heart sinks when I remember that, if it is the better game, I can look forward to another year of one top league and one lower-league featuring a mish-mash of teams (before a patch comes out at least), no manager movement etc...

I hope it's brilliant but if it is, a part of me would be so annoyed that PES had "got the crown back" when there's so much left to be done with the non-gameplay bits.

I know that if it's the better game I'll play it anyway, but after a few seasons in the same league I find myself going off the game no matter how good the gameplay is.

I really hope the announcements that are coming are more than just gameplay announcements!

I understand completely Chris, but I am more of an online organised league player rather than ML.

Even in the glory days I would just set up 1 league and edit all the premiership kits...........never really been into ML.

Bottom line is that if PES have the gameplay back then it will be a more satisfying experience than FIFA. It would be kind of ironic that the first year Konami take this gen seriously that they out shine 3 years of FIFA slog.

Unlikely at the moment but I'm feeling that PES has that magic back for 2010 and for all the advances that EA have made, it's still an average game.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

And they gave PES2008 9.2! Not to mention the IGN logo at half time.
I don't mean to be negative but I lost alot of respect for them after that.

I remember IGN's review of FIFA 09 last year. Although it scored higher then PES 2009 them guys still didnt feel it was the better game. Or if they did they sure didnt want to say it.

Closing Comments
FIFA 09 returns to the pitch full of swagger, and it does its very best to deliver on EA Sport’s promise of creating the definitive football title. An exacting game on the pitch and an overwhelmingly comprehensive one off of it, it’s still got a number of minor niggles that blight the play. But when the package is so vast and offers so much, it’s hard not to be impressed. Is it better than PES? It’s certainly different, and which game you go for this season ultimately depends on what you want from your annual dose of football.

I'm a huge fan of PES but even I know FIFA 08 & 09 for all its problems was far the better game.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Interesting, PES and FIFA currently is like Manchester United(FIFA) and Real Madrid(PES). PES has been poor for the last few years and are the ones that need the overhaul. which they might be getting but with that overhaul comes many risks, which can completely back fire. FIFA may not be making the same big changed but the fact is it doesn't need to. Its been successful over the past 3 years and already has the engine to potential improve even further. PES at the moment is the more exciting of the two for people on the outside butt when it comes to where the safe money is? FIFA for now is and will probably be better for atleast then next instalment .

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

disappointing trailer

it's about strategies and animation are not so good

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

looks the same to me...defenders still running around like headless chickens and didn't see a difference with the player support...players run towards to help? it looked to me they ran away from the player with the ball

Haha, wow, showing off the new strategic options (well, they actually look pretty good), and managing to stay away from the most important issues which I thought he meant in the beginning of the video. I can only take this one way, a major overhaul of the current gameplay engine is impossible, so they find work-arounds to make it somewhat fresh and keep the so desperate PES fans buying the game.

Btw, the nets look awful.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Tactically I think the features look amazing. They seem to have a major impact both ways - in-fact you might even say they make too much of an impact (to the point of destroying the formation) - whereas in FIFA they just don't make enough of a difference. I'd rather have total control.

I'm really impressed with the cards idea too, as I've said before. For someone who likes the management side of things - i.e. me - this kind of stuff is exactly what I want to see and it makes the game look delicious. I can see a definite difference when they're fiddling with the tactics and the cards.

Graphically I think it's great but that's excluding the animations obviously. The downsides are undoubtedly the terrible robotic movement and lack of 360-degree control being horribly evident, and the AI as a whole (mostly when it comes to the defenders as someone has already said). That and a lack of manual passing (or at least more free passing), and the off-the-pitch ML stuff that I hate. I think there will still be too many issues from past games (past engines) for me to play it but hopefully a lot gets tweaked between now and release day.

IF..And i mean if that is 50% build then the other 50 better be a whole lot fricking better.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

I hope that is the 50% build. Looks awful except for that dribbling and goal by messi. Looked like 360 degree movement to me.. The ball physics on the first goal by messi and the goalkeeper animation was baaad.

animations look rigid, again!

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

i think konami released this to show the giant leap forward of next weeks demo at gamescom

Yeah, as a game developer you always show off some poor videos just a few months before the game is released and shows off a completely different game a week later...

I think this was the moment PES completely died for me this year (the hope-meter was at 0,03% before).
