PES2008 PS2 version is the lost game / video thread

PES 2008 is more difficult than WE2008 for sure. Been playing both quite a bit so I agree with you and can also confirm it.

That is why that difficulty toughness in Pes2008 is definitely some kind of bug, which is great....because how can the same game with AI 6-star level be weaker against 5-star level. That is insane... :D

I personally feel that if both games are on “top player” then winning eleven 2008 is easier.
I feel if PES2008 is on “top player” and WE2008 is on “superstar” they are the same level of difficulty.

So in reality it’s just that WE2008 has one lower level of easiness. Since PES 2008 doesn’t have the option for “superstar”

Hi guys, maybe a really silly question especially as I have done quite a few option files in my 'career'.

When downloading a team's emblem to use in the game (PS2) is it best to download the largest size and resize or download the smallest size and resize?

For example on peslogos they have Aston Villa emblem as x128, x256, and x512 Here is the link aston-villa-fc.html

Is it best to download the x512 one and resize it to x32 and x64 or should I download the x128 and resize it?

Thanks

PS I already posted this on the retro thread but I thought I should cover all angles :D

PES 08 was my very first playstation 2 game. It's been years since I played it. Then I understood football less. But.
This thread and the talk about this version's adaptive AI inspired me to try playing it.

At the most difficult level in the master league, I can't even hit the goal. Although I play, probably not in the best way.

I noticed that the computer does not help my team defend itself. And the same in the attack, players without the ball stand still without making any movements to pass.

Welcome to the ‘best PES’ thread :D

Are you playing with the default players in Master League?

If so, that could be why your players in defence and attack do not play as a team. It is all about the ‘Teamwork’ stat, once that begins to increase for each player and the players get used to playing together, then the cohesion between them improves. ;)

@geeeeee did some friendly, your OF plays lovely! Might attempt a ML sooner or later.

Also wanted to ask you guys, how can I eliminate the "zooming out/losing resolution" about Pes in PCSX2? I mean the thing in which the player models lose all that detail when, indeed, visuals zoom out. Is there a patch or something? It has been some time since I messed with Ps2 Pes emulation and I can't remember.

That might need the High LOD fix applied to the SLPM file.

That's right, I play with a fictional team and fictional players.

I guessed that the team was not played. But then why are the opponents so skillful at once?)

But that's it. Now I realize it's such a hard game. I will see how long my desire to fight this beast is enough.

 This is one of the hardest PES.
With the default team players (Castolo, Minanda etc) that you are using, I failed to get promoted in my first season.

Also just a little tip for you, the side that the player prefers & which foot he uses is very important with these lower stat players.
I noticed you played Dodo at left back & Ximelez was on the right wing. They will make ALOT of errors this way, like Dodo's first pass in the match.

It really matters to play the players in their natural positions, as much as you can.
I don't want to write a line-up for you because everyone plays PES different, but just keep it in mind.
My advice .. play Ruskin left-back & put Dodo in the middle.
Sorry Iouga, you have to be bench

The opponents are so skilful already simply because they are ‘professionals’ where as the ML default team is like a ‘pub team’ :D

Seriously though, the satisfaction you get when the players begin to improve and gel together is really good. And you start to build a bond with each player too as you play out little scenarios in your head.

Be patient with it, it will be worth it ;)

It's the next game!!!

Match 76, mighty Fulham against mighty France, who will win?

It is a good game...enjoy! :)

Matchday time! :D

Match 77 is between Granada v Paraguay. This match has just about everything and of course a stunning stunning ending! :)

One thing I was noticing today as I was editing that video is the running in these old games compared to EAFC25 is so much better. When I watch some videos I cannot get my head around how many times the legs are moving along with the skating, surely the newer games have to be better.

I started a new master league with the same team with standard players in the American version of the game. The result is very bad. The game is really tough. In five matches, it seems, not a single shot on goal.

The AI defends really perfectly, doing everything in time - interception, blocking and pressing without a single foul.

So I continue my journey. I wonder when I will be able to score a goal?

Because the strategy of playing from defense has so far brought me two points in the championship out of a possible 12. And that's what I'm betting on for now.

Could you explain this to me? At the start of the ML, I have 5,000 points, and it costs about 7,500 to maintain the team. So if I don't earn the required number of points by the start of the next season, the ML will end?

What level are you playing on?

When I first start I play on either the second or third highest level. Then once my team starts to improve I up the level the next season.

I have tried a few times on the highest level at the beginning of an ML and it is as frustrating as hell so I thought I would drop down. I am playing it to enjoy it not to throw the controller around :D

Another thing, you said you are playing the American version, if that is like the vanilla UK one then I guess it will be very fast and frantic which will make it more difficult. That’s one of the reasons why I slowed the game down on my file because I prefer the game to be slower and not so much pressure from the AI.

Yep that is right, again on my file I have unlocked ML points from the shop so at least when I start a ML I can choose how much money the team begins with.

So that is another challenge for you. Personally I would quit that one, play some cups until you have enough points to unlock the ML points thingy and then start another ML on a lower level. It is better because the game is difficult, more difficult than PES 5 and PES 6. ;)

Yes, I started at the highest level of difficulty :) But not because I'm a super-duper player (actually mediocre), but because I read about PES 2008 in this topic. At first, the phrase “adaptive AI” stuck in my memory and I decided to try this game.

Although, frankly, I still don't understand where exactly this adaptability manifests itself. Maybe later I'll start to notice something.

I think I read somewhere in this thread that the US version came out later, so it's a bit better in terms of bug fixes.
Here is a recording of the game

Basically the adaptive AI means that it will change the way it attacks if it is struggling one way. For a basic example struggling down the middle, attack down the wings. But because the AI is beating you anyway it does not have to adapt. ;)

I thought you did quite well in that game, possession was good it‘s just that your players are not good until they get better!

How comes your game plays slow? On my one without adjustments it is super quick.

Briefly about how the leader of the tournament plays at home against an outsider 😄

Yes, the highest difficulty is not a football simulation, it is a game of tireless perfect robots.

Yep, as I said, quit, drop down a couple of levels and then start again. No shame in that. :D

Wtf, how????

31-1 in shots???? :SHOCK::SHOCK::SHOCK::SHOCK::SHOCK:
Can you give me the link where did you installed game so I can test that crazy AI
Yes, here is a link to the site. There you will see many versions and you will find the version for America.
https://romsfun.com/roms/playstation-2/pro-evolution-soccer-2008-3.html

I recorded that match. Today I watched the recording out of curiosity with a fresh head. It seems that everything was in order and the AI did not cheat :) It should also be noted that the halves last 15 minutes in my ML, if that is important.

I was imagining the adaptability that when the AI scores, say, the early two goals, they would give the ball away and park the bus or something :D. But right now, my team is really terrible. Opponents see this and mercilessly press the whole match.

Yes, if you fight against such a crazy AI at a high level, then you have to use the tools that we have in the game. For example, for the second away match of the season, I chose a defensive strategy from the very beginning, planning to play until we conceded a goal.
In the end, this did not save us from a bunch of dangerous shots on our goal. But the goalkeeper played great. And we really managed to keep the draw 0:0 thanks to luck.
But the match was very boring from the point of view of a football fan.

Then I used this strategy for the third match. Another draw 0:0. Not bad! We increased the budget a little. But then, even with this strategy, we started to concede. And when it was necessary to retaliate, I switched to a balanced or attacking strategy.

In the end, in 8 matches in the championship, I still haven't scored a single goal. There was only one goal in the cup!:EASY:

I don't know, maybe it's some kind of game with corrected attributes.

Yes, that's a good idea :) But I'll just continue as is. Just for the sake of experimenting. As long as I have the nerves to play with this team. I will continue to share my observations in this topic :)
