Are teams released for demo yet? I hope it's not all world class teams because I want to play against shitty teams to make sure they aren't Barcelona or Real Madrid.

Ahh I see. Well Daniel, if you need an objective play tester, and someone who can write up a nice review of the game - let me know!

I'll get a day off my work and be down in 10 minutes :D

unfortunately the list is a big one and this year the aim was to add new faces (who'll be attending for the first time).
I've tried to get guys in, but couldn't due to maximum numbers

My fan trailer made from footage I recorded on the 5 hour press day

Good editing and a couple of nice moments in there, but not sold on the gameplay whatsoever.

Goalkeepers look awful on the whole - for the Coutinho goal at 0:32, he doesn't move until the ball is past him, the goalkeeping for the Inter free-kick at 0:43 is just ridiculous (same as 2:03), that silly animation at 1:49 has been kept in where they palm it straight into the air and high shots still seem to bring about that completely unlifelike two-handed dive through the air. Some of the passing and shooting animations look terrible too - it baffles me how much experience Konami has had with this series, yet continues to make the same mistakes.

Just watched the MyClub video on Facebook the part where it’s now easier to get the squad you want already stops me playing it’s already to easy teams filled with Messi, Neymar and Ronaldo ruin the realism.

It should be nighe on Impossible to get star players in myclub

I think that represents a nice mixture of teams for the demo this year.

Will personally be looking to try out a different combination of matches with Schalke, AC Milan, Monaco, São Paulo, Flamengo and Palmeiras (will maybe give the other teams a once only run around).

Found much enjoyment from the demo last year playing the superclásico between River plate and Boca Juniors multiple upon multiple of times using either of the two teams.

Although, with online being included this time around will be interesting to see how many peeps just run out as the big teams all the time.

My fan trailer made from footage I recorded on the 5 hour press day

Watched this once and thought two things :

1. it looks "bad" in that I see next to no change from 2018 graphically. (i.e. no/minimal progress...changes from 12 to 13, 13 to 14, 14 to 15, 15 to 16 you could see the change)

2. i felt there were more close up shots/video footage instead of on-the-pitch gameplay which accurately represent what i think PES has become more of - a game to watch rather than actually "play".

To me, MyClub design brief is :
- the gamer is playing to acquire stars to then unlock/watch their high detailed close-ups/replays
- we will give everybody an opportunity to achieve this
- x% of gamers acquired x black balls in PES 2018. This is a success for MyClub.
- we will repeat this with fresh roster for 3 consecutive years and at year 3 consider improving on-the-pitch play.

I want to bring a bit more positivity here, it seems like everything this game has is bad, that's definitely not true.

If you look at this video

From minute 13:00 onwards you can see Biglia (n°5 Argentina) with red stamina and being visibly tired when retreating in defense, complete with less speed and clearly noticeable frustration animations, and that is a CPU player. That's Visible Fatigue. It looks interesting and hopefully will have some effect in making CPU controlled teams more human.

That's actually not bad. Thanks!

@martyl2
It just feels like the PES team cannot do the easy things right but the more complicated things right. Things like physicality, fluid dribbling(that FIFA fails to do recently), contextual animations, etc PES does it so wonderfully even though it's actually pretty complicated to do(I am a game developer so trust me). However things like stats impacting the CPU, more fouls(aggressive defenders), more mistimed tackles by CPU and realistic passing accuracy are easy things to fix. All they have to do is replace their magic RNG numbers so that it's impacted by the stats of the players. But they just don't want to do that. It's such an easy fix. Which makes me think that they have other reasons not to implement those stuffs. My guess would be online balance. This game has the base stuff done pretty good. The gameplay feels fluid and good but it's too repetitive because the use of magic numbers instead of more stats and RNG.

@Ameppe since you had me focusing on Biglia, a few things (some of which I probably wouldn't notice in-game) that bothered me:
Min 13.30: Mendy is heading towards a crossing position yet Biglia decides to turn his back to play.
Min 13.33: Otamendi attempts to clear the ball which goes towards Thauvin, Biglia again turns his back to play.
From 13.40 I watched Biglia with Lazio for years and I've never seen him move all over the place like that
From 13.56 He's moving at a decent pace to get to Lemar but as soon as Lemar gets the ball he seems to have nothing left in the tank. As soon as Lemar passes it to Giroud, Biglia sprints towards him only to stop once Lemar receives the ball again.

I assume/hope the first two are due to the fatigue even though it's not realistic behaviour - although Di Maria seems to do the same thing at 13.33.

Also, at minute 15.12 Aguero should be going straight for goal, this shouldn't even happen on beginner let alone superstar.

That'll be all of my analysis, only watched bits of this as I was curious after Ameppe's post. Will stay away from videos for obvious reasons :D

It is frustrating because as you say there are plenty of complicated elements that are done right.
And makes it impossible to be immersed in modes like Master League when stats have no/minimal impact

@lucagian I noticed that stuff as well. There are so many problems in that video, like you have to be super optimistic to only take positives from that. I think they are the kind of things that will take a week or two of playtime to register for many people, I'm not very confident offline play is going to cut it. I don't see much reason to think Matt10's analysis was wrong.

@Topaz Man if you think PES does physicality brilliantly then I'm somewhat doubting the credibility of your "I'm a developer trust me". :) Unless by brilliant you mean "virtually non-existent".

Relatively, there aren't that many footie games that has dynamic physicality such as FIFA or PES. Making stats and fouls work is 1000x times easier than making sure physics and animation syncs properly(requires a lot of linear alegbra and trigonometry calculation).

Liverpool's included so that's that. :D

In reference to the posts about how there is no difference between playing the top teams and the weaker teams, just thought I'd post my take on it.

Say the correct skill level based on a teams stats is set correctly on Regular difficulty. Barcelona are the best on Regular for example and Bolton are the worst. Barcelona on regular still have a great pass completion rate and score more of their shots on goal because their rating is high. Bolton on the other hand are the opposite and have a lower pass completion and can barely score.

However each time you increase difficulty, how else can you make the game harder wothout upping each team's stats in the background? There's not much more you can increase Barcrlona's stats, but with Bolton there is much greater headroom. By the time you get to Superstar difficulty, Bolton will naturally be much closer to Barcelona than they were at Regular difficulty as Barcelona probably maxed out at Professional or Top Player.

I play on Professional these days and definitely see a difference between the weaker teams and the top teams. Unfortunately you can't make a football game harder without making the weaker teams closer in performance to the top teams. Barca with 95% pass completion on Regular can't improve much further, Bolton on 75% can. Difficulty goes up and the difference between teams lessens.

You make some valid points here but I'd rather Bolton be much more difficult to beat as you go up through the difficulties than see them play faultless Tiki-Taka.
They (Konami) need to find the right balance as currently it just comes across as lazy programming.

Good posts by both. I think it's the style over the ability. As you say, Bolton should be difficult to beat as they should be aware of the gulf in ability between them and Barcelona and set up accordingly, not trying to outplay them.
