Pes 2014 was the greatest decline ever in just one year. They passed from 7 mln sales with Pes 2013 to 4 mln copies sold. They were definitely scared of this sudden decline so probably that's the reason they decided to leave that idea and go back to a much simpler concept, easy to develop.

Problem was they had a lot of good ideas (so advanced it even sounds a bit futuristic if they bring it back today). But they split their time playing around with the new FOX engine, and just had poor time management in development, a lot of stuff was undercooked. But for me, it is to this day, the most ambitious PES I've played. It's like the concept car version of PES. There were also the HEART system, the tactics-activated-by-zone system ( <-- didn't like this one, not organic enough, felt robotic), and some other features they were trying to develop. It was not a polished/finished product, I felt like it would have been better served as a show piece or something.

Tho by the end of the update patches (like in April that year), everything seemed a lot more stable than September. But by then, everyone has abandoned the game.

The sales figure was a total failure that year. They were definitely shook. The following year, they pushed the release date back to November :LMAO:

This could be down to several reasons, especially FIFA moving to next-gen. From a business point of view you have to check out the moment of turnover. What went wrong? When did PES change from leader to follower and why?

You have to go back to 2008/2009 and find the answers. And they are damn easy to find.

Watched your video and been reading your impressions @103SpooKy

Have to ask, how did you feel about Freekicks, did you find them perhaps too easy? You scored from 1 and hit the bar from 2 more in the same match, I must've scored 1 in my entire time on '18.

I'm also not a fan if how the camera stays behind your player after the ball is hit as it's disorienting when it comes to the camera switching back for a rebound. One of those things they changed without giving you an option in the settings screen.

Manual is only rubbish if you're not good it. Current state of assisted passing is rubbish even if you're good at it IMO.
I'd rather have a passing mistake because of me, than perfect pass because of CPU.

Manual is more difficult than assisted.. but manual passing is not that difficult once you get used to it.
If Iniesta is putting lots of ball out for throw ins, then it means that the player is not good at manual yet.

Decent manual players usually complete more than 80% of their passes.
And they mostly pass a lot in possession since they are more patient and are looking for the right opportunity.
They can do quick consecutive one-touch passing too but unlike assisted, it requires skills and it's more satisfying when you scored a goal from it.

Long passes/crossing is satisfying too. Oh Well, that's because I modified my cross/lob button to make it manual even on 0-assist. I modified it so that whenever I press the lob/cross, the Manual(L2) modifier is also pressed. And I disabled the BS early cross, so that L1+ lob doesn't do anything.
Konami is BS, even on manual they still made the cross assisted. Luckily on PC, you can do a lot of modifications.
I've twitted officialpes about the 0-assist cross/lob before the release of pes2017 and pes2018 and everytime they've responded that they'll look into it. If I can modify it quickly, why can't they.

Manual takes time to learn at first. But once you get used it, you'll still be good at it even if you only play a couple of hours a week.
But I get it. Not everyone has the patience or the time to get good at manual. Some people easily get discouraged when they're not seeing their improvements immediately.

No its just rubbish. Just like PA1 is rubbish

We didnt grow up playing PES needing to hold thumb in position as exact science.

No amount of practice will lead to gameplans being executed to users expectations

I should add that i LOVE manual pass. The modifier is a brilliant idea and i use it to unock defences. Is not needed for every single pass though

Sales began to decline after the Pes 2008 disaster. It wasn't just a bad game, totally arcade, so arcade that Pes 2018 now compared to that looks like simulation. It was also a broken game. It made Ps3s brick, crash, they had to release many patches just to make it functional. At the same time people lost the patience to wait and switched to Fifa 08. This whole situation made the switch even more traumatic when the year after Pes 2009 was just a functional Pes 2008. Clearly it was not enough as Fifa 09 really revolutionized football games with full manual passing and shooting, a much better animations system, graphics and Ultimate Team. The rest of Ps3 years were spent with Konami trying to recover the lost ground but never really succeeding and Fifa adding 360° movements and making Ultimate Team a fenomenal mode.

When Pes 2014 released the reasons it lost so much sales in just one year were mostly: broken game again at launch, just like happened with Pes 2008, too hardcore for most of the players and also there was the generational switch from Ps3 to Ps4. People were waiting for Fifa on Ps4 and decided to not buy Pes 2014.

Yeah, the decline already started with Pes 2008, but they managed to keep good sales. Pes 2014 release though halved sales in just one year, i really think that was the real reason why they decided to abandon the Pes 2014 project and go back to a simpler gameplay.

Konami cares about sales and if you see Pes going the way it's going, is because of customers feedback.

They don't want to risk another Pes 2014 situation, so i don't think they will ever go back to that kind of gameplay, unless they become confident they can do it without breaking everything.

yeah the manual modifier is great for the right situation. I like it for a full power low cross across 6 yard box

Do you remember PES 2014's HAVOK?.
Where the hell did that go? What the hell happened to it?.

ENLIGHTEN is the new HAVOK.

Okey tour in Colombia confirmed but when Konami arrive to Turkey? I have big hope for turkish league

So pa2 to pa4 ain't rubbish? Okay I concede!

i wasnt saying manual passing is that difficult i can hold my own on top player, i am saying it kills what stats there are because it does, and it leads to a more end to end game. Inestia pass stats in real life are almost 90% accurate so a good manual player as you put it is already 10% out compared to real life what about an average one.
I have to agree that passing stats almost doesn't matter with manual.. but with assistance, it almost doesn't matter too since even the low stat passers are doing perfect quick one touch passes most of the time.

Since stat doesn't matter for both, I'd rather use a passing system that puts me in control and require skills.

In PES2015, I play PA1 but I don't use triangle(through pass button). I use L2+pass for ground pass to space or L2+lob for lofted pass to space. That way, I have the control where I want my through ball to go exactly where I want. It's just not satisfying to score a goal from a perfect through ball that doesn't require skills.

I wish there's something in between manual and assisted. Something that puts us in control, requires skills and at the same time make stats matter. I'm not sure if it's possible.

I have to say i really like the shooting animations, it feels more organic and realistic the animations a lot more than 2018, but as u can see guys, the game is too end to end...the midfield is non existent making it seem like 3 passes are enough to go on goal....
By the way love the nets i have to admit they did a great job on that

Stadium looks excellent. especially the lighting.
The need to fix old trafford, it can t be that old trafford has been like this for years, look at the space behind the goal and the stands....
Even anfield there is too much distance btw goal and stands..old trafford was good back on pes 5 and 6, got worse when we came to ps3 gen and onwards

Bro Old Traffrod hasn’t been in PES, since PES2016. EA have a contract with Man Utd.

But it was really good on PES2016. As far as I can remember

No i don t think so, since ps3 generation old trafford was built on a different stadium scheme, thats why this distance btw goal posts and first row of supporters, and they didn t fix it since then, disregarding the fact that they had license or not, old trafford looks amazing in fifa on the other hand

Why should they fix it when it's not officially in the game? :CONF:

btw. Look at Veltins Arena in FIFA

Unofficially they gave up on Master League in 2014. Fouls, individuality, tactics and passing from 2016. The midfield seems to have gone since 2018. None of these are in demand in this generation of game.

What s wrong with it? I don t see anything wrong with veltins arena actually

Don't want to go into detail because of OT but it's fair to say that there isn't much that's correct behind the goals (talking about distances [goal<->first adboard])

I mean what did you expect from a 3 v 3 gameplay. Obviously it will be end to end, but even then there are good amount of miss passes, plus this is the E3 build. The Demo is worse.

Match vs AI, my first one ever in PES2019.

why did the cpu sub in another winger for another winger at 75 min mark when inter was down one man? didnt even use up the last substitution and change the shape by replacing dmf and putting on another striker. game is going to be plagued by strange cpu ai awareness when it comes to tactics
