So is it safe to assume that the demo won't be released until at least after the embargo has lifted on the 25th?

Yeah to be honest loading times trump menu aesthetic for me any day. One of the things that really de-motivated me on PES 2018 was sitting through menu's loading and connecting. That alone is time consuming and made me not even want to boot up the game.

I know they should work on it,they should improve loading times even when connected to the servers, but there is an option in Pes 2018 to make the game start without connecting to the server. Once i did that loading times improved dramatically, went from 20 seconds to load the main menu to just 2-3 seconds. Just choose to not auto login to servers and it will be saved forever, you don't have to make it everytime.

Re: the menu stuff. If you buy PES, you know full well what you're buying - a game from a small team (given a tiny budget) that focuses on gameplay (or at least, it has in the past).

You should expect more for your money, absolutely. But the cold, hard fact is, you know what you're getting. If you can't accept that PES will never be the "full package", you'll never enjoy the game. You get nice menus etc. elsewhere - speaking of which...

ok just seen that there is an embargo on any footage/opinions on the new build of pes 2019 until the 25th
What a coincidence - the other game's embargo is almost the same day......

Is there anything more 'Konami' than having a world press tour and then slapping an embargo on them?
Everyone does it. See above. (I can't pretend to understand why - especially when you'll always get someone leaking something - but...)

Sweet, I didn't even realise that was an option. Great tip there and i'll keep that in mind for '19.

Wow. Wish I had known that sooner. I have lost at least a week of my life to that initial loading screen.

Gameplay is the most important but plain menus take away from the immersion of modes. It just looks so cheap and shows a lack of care. On it being because of the size of the team is not good enough. Some of the best looking games are made by indie companies with way smaller budgets than PES. Plus give it a week or two and a community member will have a way better job done.

Yeah, to be fair to Konami it's been an option for as long as I can remember. Typically though, you have to go looking for it rather than it being a initial startup option which would have spared people weeks of their lives!

Personally i am really not interested in menu design as long there are so massive faults in basic gameplay, but telling people a fairy tale of a tiny PES team (that can´t afford a freelance graphic designer) while doing a whole marketing day with David Beckham with absolutely zero benefit for the final product is beyond me. This clumsy arrangement of priorities is visible in every aspect of PES.

I can't discuss without saying something incorrect about the state of Pes dev team, but it's clear there is something profoundly wrong with the way they develop the game. That shows in every part of the game, from modes being neglected to online still being plagued by lag and lag cheaters, to gameplay commands not working the way they should, or even text boxes being frequently inaccurate in their description.

This is why i always said they need a revolution, starting from the dev team and hopefully the people they are hiring will bring a breath of fresh air. I'm not saying this because of that ML menu, like overreacting to it. That picture per se is not an issue but it just confirmed what i thought since years.

Sorry my friend but I cannot agree with this.
PES used to have a professional/creative design. And it used to have some revolutionary options.
PES 2008 - PES 2010 - 2011 - PES 2012 - PES 2013 (I left PES 2009 out).
And older PES too, to a degree.

It used to have the "full package". Maybe not the league-specific scoreboards or that type of in-game graphics, but let's not forget that PES was a pioneer in the Tactics/Strategies menu (you could indicate within which areas a player should move, how much he should go forward or stay back, etc) almost 20 years ago!!! Let's also not forget that we used to have Snow and Afternoon options for each stadium. If these characteristics I'm pointing out don't round up a game to "full package", then I don't know what do. Certainly everything changed since PES 2014, and that's when we started settling for less (like I've been saying lately). Right now it's like... whatever little thing they decide to give us, as small as it is, we must give thanks and praises. It seems it shouldn't matter to us anymore whether that "new thing" is well thought, well implemented, well designed... We must give thanks and praises. Not saying YOU have this attitude, Chris, I hope you understand what I'm trying to say. But all those things used to be regular featured material in PES.

You didn't go to your local shop when you were 12 and went home after getting PES 3/4/5/6 thinking "God I hope they didn't remove this":

You KNEW that was going to be a part of the game.

Then, the menus. FROM PES 5 until PES 2014, nobody took a minute to hate on the menus, why? Because they looked great! You may like one more than I do and vice-versa, but they were all standard-quality at that time, to say the least.

We must push for more. We can't be like "poor Konami, they are doing what they can for us" all the time. That's exactly the kind of attitude we don't want to have because that's what led us here since PES 2014.

Please let's not forget that for a couple of years we didn't even have RAIN in the game (PES 2014-2015). Nuff said.

If you guys look closely at the grey menu background, there's like subtle bubble screensaver. Something is moving it seems. Probably, we can customize it. Just have your faith with Konami like we have been doing all these years.. :D

or

Maybe the grey background coding or whatever is closely attached to the gameplay script, changing it will break everything. :D

Has anyone seen confirmation anywhere that PEU, PAS and PLA Leagues are in this year?

In the transfer negotiation screenshot, they are trying to sign a player from pes united (probably their best example of realism in transfers) so I assume they're still in.

For PC we will fix the menus its not problem :D but yeah, Konami try to sell us half ass game since FOX engine, every year is the same story.

For PC, just digital version for 60 EUR. .. really? No clock or balls... just key for PES 2018 DLC for 60 bugs...

Can we change the layout though?

I'm fine with the menus as they are to be honest. Everything is clear, i can find what i want to find. ML has plenty of things within it's menus to look at and adjust and way more than we had in the PS1/2 days. ML for me has always been about taking your crap team and building it up with star players and youth who will develop. I still get all that, so i'm happy. They've actually made it more realistic now than it was back in the PS2 days and having real second tier leagues has been a massive bonus. Bringing back injuries, penalties and more stadiums, plus a stadium editor would be my priorities over menus.

I know they are trying to sell the look of the goal and it does look good, but it only goes in because they put Maradona in the wall. Any other player in that part of the wall and the ball hits them instead.
Yeah. Replace him with Nedved, who isnt even jumping. ;) This happens. I like it.
IRL keepers do mistakes like putting the players in the wrong position, or players themselves not jumping and what not....
I don’t think Konami did this on purpose.

Agreed.

GREAT goal. But I think if the keeper had placed an extra man next to Busquets, he probably would have blocked it.

pes 2015 and 2016 had the best home menu design. and we were able to customise it with our favourite team with a player moving in slow motion with a ball which made it really unique. why was it removed all of a sudden? they're notorious for removing/changing stuff that nobody asked them topes16home.jpg
