When PES 1 came out FIFA had deep career modes with "western" menus etc while we had a seven day long transfer window and "Asian" style menus.

Still the same today, why is everyone getting upset all of a sudden?

If their team is small then why are they trying to take on FIFA and create a rivalry?
Because they're still making money? Because you don't need to be the best-selling game in a genre to still make money? Because you don't need to have a big team to make a sports game? Should I carry on?

Would you refuse to run a burger chain that made $80m a year because McDonald's exists, and they make $8 billion a year? Or would you pocket your share of the $80m and say "thanks very much", knowing that McDonald's is an empire that will never be toppled?

The sports genre is one where you could get away with pumping out the same game year after year as long as you update the teams/kits. Combine that with an online mode with microtransactions that some people seem to love, and you're gonna make money. Less money than EA? Sure. But money nonetheless. It's the world's most popular sport, and now they've got a few new league licenses.

It is a small team. There's plenty of evidence out there, although they are looking to expand from the looks of it (see @Ameppe's posts regarding the job advertisements).

Some people try to make excuses but it makes them look really silly
Nobody's making excuses, only providing facts and hypotheses. The people who look silly are the ones who seemingly don't understand how money works, and the ones who threaten not to buy a game because the menus are too simplistic artistically. Each to their own.

Just like the guys arguing why the ML screenshot had problems "OH THEY MUST BE TESTING SOMETHING", Why not just put something that makes sense? It's just a picture after all.
Because Konami is Konami. This is what we get every year. People trying to explain what may have happened does not equal "making excuses".

I noticed from the new pic which shows the abilities that there is a new ability called ''Unwavering Balance''.
I think it replaces ''Strength On Ball'' or something like that that it was in until 18.
I wonder what this new one can be..
Maybe it will have to do something with inertia and balance and will determine how well you can wrongfoot opponents and pass them using body weight dribbling momentum in movement and how balanced you can do this or something like that.If it is this it will be good for sure and will bring more realism and individuality to different players.

We are not in 2000s anymore but more importantly during the PS3 years we had a much deeper Master League than what we have now. It's this that hurts the most. Not only they are not improving ML but they are actually still behind the quality of many years old Master Leagues. They don't have excuses and they know that, that's why Adam quickly tried to damage control after the negative feedback they received with these ML screenshots.

Become a Legend had specific instructions, like run down the wings in PES 2011 or 12. Now it's just a series of exhibition matches and that too only if you're not injured by scripting.

Yes but nothing has really changed in terms of deep modes and menus, PES has always been crap at that side of thing compared to the other game and It's probably more down to culture than anything else.

ML in Pes 2011-12-13 was way deeper than it is now. Even Become a Legend was way deeper.

In ML you could choose the staff, be the president of the club, choose the sponsors, equipment for training, could communicate with players, boost their morale, they would often complain about playing in a wrong position or about not playing enough matches, it was up to you to make them happy if they complained, etc. It was much more than the series of matches we have now. It was simply very immersive for a ps3 game, not perfect but good.

I'm fine with the menus as they are to be honest. Everything is clear, i can find what i want to find. ML has plenty of things within it's menus to look at and adjust and way more than we had in the PS1/2 days. ML for me has always been about taking your crap team and building it up with star players and youth who will develop. I still get all that, so i'm happy. They've actually made it more realistic now than it was back in the PS2 days and having real second tier leagues has been a massive bonus. Bringing back injuries, penalties and more stadiums, plus a stadium editor would be my priorities over menus.

+1

Disagree with the youth part. That has to be revamped. It can't be too hard to have a team with an academy that has fake players with realistic names with the vast majority of them being from the nationality of the club team they represent. And that every team in the ML has some sort of youth system coming through. If they can do that, I might be able to play more than one or two seasons of ML. That is the priority if you want people to play the mode for the long haul.

I actually don't find the new ML screenshot menu that bad at all.
It looks much better than 18,less rigid and more beautiful with round edges and new colours and new little details.
Even the Henderson screenshot looks more beautiful and polished. In 18 it had some really ugly ones sometimes.
It looks minimalistic and simple but convenient and more polished and appealing than 18.
The only thing i don't like much is the letters' font and the fact that they write LIVERPOOL instead of Liverpool.
It looks off and doesn't match well with the mini article. But i'm on pc so i can change the font at least.
In general i like it and it looks refreshing from what we had in 18.They also said that it will have mini videos or something in menus i think so it will look even more beautiful and modern than just seeing moveless screenshots.

@Chris Davies Sorry had to delete my post coz I thought it'd cause arguments and I'd like to help keep the thread clean despite my frustrations!

Since you replied I respect all the points you mentioned , But for a game that costs that much to buy and at this day and age, You have to expect a better overall package.

I truly hope their invite to you didn't change your noble stance on the game :)

A nice ML preview below

Oh man, I've always wanted to talk about that, but never felt like I could get away with it (without being labelled a nerd).

But if people can say they're offended by the menus, then... *Deep breath...* I'm seriously offended by the team names and (particularly) PLAYER NAMES being all-caps. Love it when the community put a patch together and it happens to convert all of the names to their correct capitalisation.

... Oh no, I still feel nerdy. Forget I said anything.

As mentioned a few pages ago, it doesn't look like that's going ahead now - so I wouldn't worry about that. (Also, my largely critical PES 2018 review is still on YouTube - and I've been posting about "the other game" for the last few days in the "other games" forum - so...)

You nerd!:P
The capitals do trigger me sometimes but at least that's fixable.

Rumors on internet are saying that this is the last year for Fox Engine on PES. Is it true?
I don't think so but i really hope so.It time for them to move on and introduce a really next gen engine so they can really evolve and push forward dynamically and not making baby steps each year.
If not next year,in the next 2-3 years i think it will happen for sure and we'll see some great things.
But until then i'm fine with what i have and i can still enjoy the game.

I've been feeling a little more love for PES 2018 the past two weeks.
Might be the new mods I got + the pitch mod I've been working on myself, but really feels like a better game after all the official patches. In fact, I started a new ML yesterday (who would have thought, huh?) and stayed up till 2AM playing it. Getting up at 7.30 today was tough.

I have no doubt in my mind that PES 2019 will be the best football game (on the pitch) ever made by Konami. Flawed and all. But I can't keep overlooking the negatives year after year. I've been doing that since 2014.

This is just a thought, but I'm thinking they'll announce the demo on Saturday and it will probably be released very shortly.

@Dennis_87 @Chris Davies
i'm with you guys! capital letters is bothering at the same level as the overall ui does, imo!
as we all agree, gameplay first, but these little details (aka normal stuff for a game these days) would add to the whole experience. not the on the pitch experience but the menu action i'm in when playing ML and such... transfering players, editing the squad...
as i dont play match after match as fast as it gets but "build" the squad every time to fit the opponent, i spent a lot of time in menus.
i can understand that some or mabye a lot of users just want to play (guess thats the majority). a lot of my local buddys not even enter the settings to fiddle with speed and controls and gfx settings and such. they just install the game and play straight ahead (PES and the other game). sometimes i have to tell them about features or settings beeing in the game for years they did not know of (but playing it every god damn day)! ^^

but i'm not normal. i spent a lot of time in the replay mode (during a match) too! i just like to see stuff in detail and set up things to the max! getting my formation "right" takes more than 10 min per match a lot of times! :D

you should see me when a new PES version arrives and i'm heading into a match... getting out of it, turning game speed down, start a new match... do it all over again... :D
same with camera settings! i'm really crazy detailed in that regard. freaking habbits! :D

saying all that: i guess a lot of controversal discussions are rooted in how different each of us is playing this game (and other games). we are all pretty different in that regard. each his own! united we are in the love for the sport! :)

Ok...guess you haven’t played 11-12-13 in a while?,those are very deep,unprecedented for it’s time.
In all aspects,modes,players,tactics,stadiums etc

Not sure I buy this whole "the team is too small and lack funds to create a decent UI". You could hire a professional design company to do an entire branding and UI for less than the cost of one of these MyClub legends if the reported fees are in any way accurate. This is simply a combination of ineptitude/lack of talent and the same lack of standards that plagues almost every other area of the game.

Do you guys think adam bahti will make them listen or if he cares about people s complaints about the menus? He just is a marketing gimmick bragging about the on the pitch stuff, overreacting to some goals and such animations, we need adam bahti to force a menu design change

It's kinda obvious,and I said it before.
Offline has been dying since PS3/360 had its glory days.
First game on current Gen,Pes 15,which had in my mind the worst ML ever, dull as a brick, game play ok though.

Every new game is getting further and further away from what used to be.
Why?
Easy, create an "ok" game gameplay wise for xxxx amount of money, earn xxxx money selling it,then cash in xxxxxxx on micro transactions.
We're not profitable,easy as that,were a bad investment.

He can do nothing if the dev team doesn't think it's worth doing it. He can just suggest based on feedback, but i guess he already suggested and showed the team many times that people want a better Master League. It's simply not their priority, or at least it's not a priority for Pes 2019.
