PES 2019 Discussion Thread (PS4, XB1)

I dont get why every team has to play 'different' all the time to make the game 'real'.

I have a season ticket for my Championship team... 23 home games, my team play the same all the time in essence and 90% of the teams we play will play the same as each other. Some might bang it in the box quicker or more, but every team we will play will set up deep, set up to hit the ball in the box when they get the chance and will be happy to do nothing and give us possession.

I think everyone is expecting TV football... oh look Man City fanny around with it in fancy triangles, that must be what football really is. Well no its not, and no every team cant attack that way or will even try. The differences in football from game to game are minimal, there are extremes based on the teams who have vast wealth and can buy players to do different stuff, but the majority of football is played the same way by the same chuff week in week out.

i think its just the idea that a counter attacking EFL team shouldnt be playing on the level of Real Madrid. They could have the same attacking traits but with MUCH LESS FLAIR and with MUCH LESS ACCURACY.

Where is my response not an adult one, man?.
Just because I'm calling you a Konami Defender (which in my eyes you are, by reading your posts whenever someone says something bad about PES)? If that label offends you, I'm sorry. I'll take it back. But aside from that bit, I think it's a pretty adult back-and-forth.

For me this one as well as this implies you read all my posts on the forum at least on 2018. Which lets face it probably never happened. No bad feelings dont worry im just done with this argument on the presentation.

Anyway the new patch is out lets test that!

Just tried one game. Napoli-Roma. Ended 1-1

It felt good. Roma played a varied game with attacks both from the middle and the flanks. No low crosses but normal ones.
The goal they did get was not from a low cross.

3 fouls also.

Played as QPR V Chelsea. Game felt great. Chelsea attack and approach play was varied. They had 5 shots on target and 2 off target and didn't score. Not seen stats like that on 2019. Shots from different areas of penalty area too. Think all shots were powerful shots though, so not sure if shot variation has been fixed as they never did low placement shots pre-patch.

Didn't see any ai players dribbling and they had Hazard. Get a feeling that's not been fixed. No high crosses into box either and had about 3 low passes from the wing into the box. Those passes made sense though, so won't criticise.

Need to play more obviously, so won't say patch has fixed/hasn't fixed things just yet.

Patch is a big improvement. Very varied ai. They actually try and dribble against you now. It was actually fun to play even though I was losing. They still low cross but only if it makes sense. Otherwise they do normal high crosses

It is more varied. I see low and high crossess, centre attacks, long balls too. Also one-on-one the player will break through IF hes faster and keeper will come out to cover more area in the box. Good stuff.

What i still dont see are long shots from outside the box (inside theyll shoot from anywhere and also from the edge too) and i see no dribbles at all with dribblers (ie Martial).

Everything was addressed regarding the tactical rigiddness but it seems not enough people complained about player id.

On PC for sure. The license mods are there, the dt18 can be modded by Incas (it is already) to have more long shots and not to have OP keepers. Only questionable thing is if you accept the less frequency of dribbling.

Playing the game now.

AI keepers finally coming of their line in 1v1 situations. Took them 5 years to fix it, but better late than never. Ball feels heavier. Game feels like a responsive pes 14, which is a good thing.

Holy shXX!! Try it people!! I played on -1 last time and this is different now. And f me placebo!! Sorry!!!

Please. Give it a try. I’ll be back here soon. Red dead is first. Squeezed in one match on the run. :)

Later. :)

Edit. And yes yes yes. Even with 0 game speed, no need to double tap for short ground passes not more. It’s possible with a subtle press of the Button now with fuma!!! :D :APPLAUD:

Managed two games before leaving for work. Not really long enough to be strong in my convictions, but I played as Newcastle and in the first two games (against Anderlecht and Lyon), I had the stats flash up and confirm what I felt... 95% pass accuracy from the AI, by both teams, just before the half-time whistles (and not much lower at full time).

(But this isn't something the patch ever claimed to look at, and it's my personal bugbear with modern-day PES, just to make that clear.)

Anderlecht kept hitting long balls forward - I'm not sure if that's their play style, but if so, it's certainly represented in the gameplay! But they were never loose balls, they were never in danger of being off-target, despite the distance they were being hit.

That's my biggest problem with the game - but it's not a bug or a fault, it's the philosophy of the game (and PES). If you judge this as a PES game (rather than a football sim), it's really good.

I didn't see any players dribbling - it's all pass, pass, pass from what I can see, but that might be because of the players I was coming up against, so I may be being unfair.

What I did see was a few long-range shots from the AI, which is new. So it's a mixed bag - well, actually, I think the patch probably delivers on all its promises - it's whether you think that's enough. For the guys in here who were loving the game all except for the AI... I think you're going to be really happy.

For me this is another case of them nicking the "wrong" thing from the other game - there's so many little features they could add, and they choose the one that nobody will ever use (who wants to play with a team where every player's attributes are set to a uniform figure, e.g. 85)?

Okay, I get that some offline players may want to prove they're better than their mate, but... Pick two similarly matched teams, surely - rather than suck all individuality out of the game...

First game post-patch and a couple of moments that shocked me. First, my left back (A.I.) took a couple of touches on the wing, then stopped, faced up the defender then dribbled a few more yards and put his foot on the ball again before passing to me outside the box! :D I couldn't believe that something so simple could stand out so much, I'd never seen AI behave like that before.

Second moment was so obvious and a real relief to see - The opposition played a high through-ball to their forward in an inside right position and his first touch took him towards the goal rather than stopping and turning back. Thank flip for that!

I had a 1on1 as I beat their offside trap close to the halfway line and had a free run from the wing to the goalie at a 45 degree angle. It was an improvement as the GK did come out as far as the edge of the 6 yard box rather than being glued to the goal line but perhaps he could have come out a few more yards. Anyway, it was only one example so maybe it will differ in other situations.

Movement feels slightly different, in a good way, I can't quite put my finger on what it is and I also had a moment, when a ball was bouncing, that I was expecting to be on rails but was as free as a bird!

I've just saved a replay of a goal scored by my AI teammates where on 2 occasions in the build-up they would have definitely lobbed it out wide but instead played little passes in the middle resulting in a lovely through-ball and goal. This is glorious to see, I am surprised and impressed!

Another thing they've nicked from the other game that doesn't really add anything (who wants to play with a team where every player's attributes are set to a uniform figure, e.g. 85)?

Anyway...!

Strange watched a cpu v cpu (MU v Juve) and the accuracy rate was 76 to 81 on a 15 mins game.

So players still don't try and dribble against you? :/

No. The last game cpu dribbles with skills and dribbles efficiently is PES 2013.

Haha! It was just one game. Played 2.5 season of ML pre-patch so need more time. They did variety of high and low crosses pre-patch. More high crosses than low in all honesty. Was concerning not seeing Hazard try and take anyone on dribbling wise. Just one dribble past one of my players would be nice (excluding them running down the wing with the ball).

I won the game 1-0 by the way. Header from a cross in 90th min. They had a free kick just outside the box into injury time. Normally this would be certain goal, but they hit my wall.

Can anyone confirm if patch affects the game online? and also in local multiplayer

Guy above talking about 90 min winners so i assume momentum is still the same?

Thanks in advance

This is what i see pes in ai superstar.. if you leave hole for the opponent to pass they'll pass.. if you close their passing angle better.. they'll likely to dribble or miss pass.. applied to all teams..
