this is awesome... can someone tell me if you have to pull the trigger down or something for this shot, or is it just briliant animation in game?

I thought this might be a volleyed example of the new dipping shot but Valero doesn't have the card.

On a related note, I've been trying to get my player to do some dipping shots and have found a consistent way though I imagine it will happen in other circumstances./contexts I'm purely pressing the shoot button but it seems to happen after a little knock out of my feet (R2 + right stick). Haven't scored one yet though!

Here's some examples -

anyone like me find that ac milan(AI) somehow is the toughest to play against?
I have no problem against barcelona/liverpool which are supposed to be stronger
but ac milan is a bit difficult to beat, they press harder than liverpool who uses gegenpress all the time
I think its related to the atk/def level, they are red in defense from the beginning of the match
also their attack style is long ball, we all know the ai can't attack well
and the long ball attack style could be effective sometimes
still the final version must fix the ai attack issue

Has anyone noticed any substantial difference in shot as announced?.
The only difference I'm seeing is more shots go wide. But the "body posture" and more shooting variation and outcomes.... yeah I'm not seeing that.
Since this was another key feature announced, I was expecting something more I guess.
I'm using advanced shooting by the way.

You can easily lose the ball with a slow kick if you don’t position yourself well. I have seen a lot of balls go wide and body posture is for sure a thing. And I’m playing on basic, I think those that play with Advanced shooting are trying so hard to play the game differently. Basic shooting is the way to go. Enjoy the game as it is, you will notice more things.

the constant opponent pressure when u play vs someone is something that has to be toned down, i play vs people who keep running and intercepting balls which they shouldn t intercept, and they end up having a counter attack of the super easy passing on pa1. this is killing it for me

Really love the demo! It takes some time to adjust to the gamespeed and changes in gameplay, but once you get the hang off it you can play a great game of sports in the way you want. Most noticable is the fact that tactics and formation setting is more inportant then ever; like it should be. It is all about planning your game forward, at the right speed, searching for an opening or waiting for a counter oppotunity. Position play is amazing, defending is worked out beautifully as well.

+ Position game is important
+ Gamespeed is great!
+ Searching for an opening feels great
+ Passing game is really well worked out, you have to think ahead and act and react to it accordingly
+ Defending feels great, positioning your player between passing lines, headers and filling gappes feels better then ever
+ Play any style you want
+ Everything can be beaten if you are good enough

Improve your defending, it’s easy for me to stop their passes. I played enough online matches plus PA1 is not that extreme of assisted play. You’re exaggerating, have you played the game for the last 4 years. You would know PA1 is actually good this year, I have seen people have a hard time passing the ball. It’s enjoyable that’s all that matters, I don’t know what game in real life that is close to manual play, because there is nothing realistic about it. It’s just people preference kicking in here.

Guys what do you think about headers? I scored 4 from free kicks and only one from crossing. I found crossing very difficult. Moreover when the GK takes the free kick and send the ball near to my area, if the opponent stands front of me, 95% he will take the header, without even jump. Even if i have a much taller player. I tried super cancel but it's still difficult.

Any suggestions?

And this.

Hope next year the introduce better physicality with manual physical contact or they should remove the automatic R1+X. Or both :)

yes.. but to really notice the risen shot you have to shoot with someone that has that trait I think. I use basic shooting only as well so not sure if that means it's different. I also notice the finesse shot is different now. and it will automatically do that in close.. For example, in PES 2018 i almost always used the finesse shot in the box in close for a sure goal in the corners but I notice now it's best not to use that in close the box like that and just use the regular shoot button from my experiences as it will automatically finesse it with a slight touch of power of the shot button. I use the R1 finesse shots more now outside or right at the edge of the box now only.

i thought this was a rising shot from Icardi for example when I was playing the other day..

I’m loving the demo! Defending is so amazing! It’s been a while since I played a game that I can actually rely on my defenders! I find defending easier than attacking actually.

Also loving online. The first day I was killing folks 5-0, 9-1 etc but since then it’s been close 1-1, 2-2, 1-0 types of games. The defending makes it easy to stop those that don’t play with common sense.

Final note, this game was made for HDR! It looks superb in that mode and I can’t go back.

I think you need to adapt to your opponents play style in PES online ... if someone is constantly playing like that. you need to drop back and control your back line and make sure he can't beat you on the easy 1 - 2 and wait for it. one thing i like about PES 19 beta online is there is a counter for everything. If someone is abusing you somehow online.. there is almost always usually a counter that stops it if you know exactly what your opponent is doing already. at least that's what I have been experiencing so far and what makes this game so great online.

if your basically being full 100% aggressive trying to stop a guy countering playing 1 2 ping pong passing... then your helping him out. instead try play conservative and just control the AI defenders on your back line and or a DM and basically play positioning to where he can't get behind you and use the second teammate button for pressure when your controlling your defender for positioning. if your one of those players who keeps player switching selecting defenders and runs straight after the ball.. that will never work against anyone who knows what they are doing online.

Sorry I didn't read your post before my reply but you're spot on. I couldn't of said it better myself. I totally agree with you.. and even the about the manual play comment.

Really enjoying the demo online being able to put your foot on the ball and start looking for space is awesome.the slight button lag in your own box is causing me abit of stress .its like you can’t get rid of the ball fast enough.overall R2 is your friend

I wish there was a bit more midfield play. It reminds me a lot of pes 2018, although that game improved a tad come the end of the update cycle. I was hoping to see some decent midfield battles in 2019.
It could be to do with the 5 min demo limitation, although I hope Konami are not trying to hide something else by skimping on the demo single player game play duration. Limiting us to 2 1/2 min halves is a disgrace.

It seems like someone on their design team has decided this year around that headers on goal – or even attempts of them – are absolutely uncool and should therefore be extremely difficult to pull off even with the likes of Giroud. No headers please! They are ugly! Stick to tiki-taka passing! After all, we are partnering with Barcelona and we want all of you to play like them! That's how football should be played! We looove Barcelona! I seem to remember, though, that even lil' Messi scored a header in a Champions League final, didn't he?

The timing for headers seems different this year. However I managed to score some good ones out of corners.

Headers in PES2018 were too easy, the crossing & heading buttons were too "linked".
You need to wait a fraction of a second more before heading, even then if You overtime it only by a fraction, You will either head soft or head high.
High corners work well, providing the keeper can't collect the ball.

I tend to agree with you, but I'm not sure if the PS3 version (the one I played PES on last year) holds up to PES 2019 (I play on Xbox One this year) in comparison and changes applied this year. Only with Players like Mandzukic you had more chance to score a header, but I might be wrong to. This year timing seems more realistic and important. Makes me want to play the game right away :)

What's the timing for headers? Last PES i played was 2011, it took me months to realise they'd changed it so you hold shoot then release the button just before contact with the ball. Is it still like this or...?

I've scored a few, but they mostly from close range with the keeper stuck to the goalline. I can't generate any significant power or direction any more than 10 yards out.

Also any other PES tips I may have missed in the last 7 years?

Should you still use R2 when receiving the ball? Any specific first touch mechanic? How best to retain possession in midfield when under immediate pressure?

Is there any shielding mechanic? How best to use stronger players.

When dribbling in tight spots, should I be holding or tapping R2? Shifting the ball with left analog then bursts of R1 seem most effective so far. Noticed shot feints aren't as effective as the older PES games. (which tbf is more realistic)

How can I release the ball quicker when passing? I've been using a lot of manual passing which seems to help. I want to be able to slip a quick toe poke pass after drawing a defender in.

Just played against Liverpool online 7 games in a row lol. Gegenpress + speed

Yes the gegenpress is strong. Yes it turns those players into rabid World War Z zombies. Yes you have to resort to pingpong to survive.
I don't have too much issue with that. It's easy simple tactics for simpletons online. Let them have their fun... but surely not for the whole 90mins.

Were is this new fatigue/stamina system. Actually, is there any fatigue system this year?
None of these guys I've played have made any subs, yet they can still sprint + high press from 1st whistle to last.
Cause & effect? Balance? I don't see any.

I don't know if you use shoot then pass to shot feint but seeing a video on here a few days ago of somebody using supercancel to shot feint has drastically changed my game for the better. I mean, I knew it cancelled the shot but didn't realise how effective it was and how much more dynamic it is than a simple :square: then :x:.

Without a doubt, this Pro Evolution Soccer has the best physics, animations and gameplay feel since Pro Evolution Soccer 6. Kicking the ball around feels and looks quite similar to the old PlayStation 2 games some of the time. Shooting is not as good though and the artificial intelligence is suspect. If Konami can improve both for the final game this may be a winner on the field.
