PES 2019 Demo Impressions Thread

Is there any other way the AI attack other than spread it out wide and cross/bring it in the dbox ? I seldom see any other way around.

Yeah... gets boring pretty quickly. I set my game to 20 mins using juce tool and after one of this the cpu started to feel very linear and samy as in 18. The cpu does more mistake than in 18 but it still abuses too much of too accurate first passes and what you mentioned above. Doesn't look like proper build up this year again.

So like L1 + pass? Still shooting some mad hard ground shots but I don't know if its contextual or that we have a button for it this year.

Sorry mate I think I was wrong.
But I swear that I did it like 4 times in a row, and all 4 times the passer made a run forward while pointing somewhere with his arm up.

What fun is there in playing 6-0-4 every game? Even if you can counter it, even if you're a God and you can beat it easily (despite the fact that it's entirely in their favour - they do this shit for a reason, the lock-on laser-passes support it or THEY WOULDN'T DO IT)?

That's society man. Not PES. The game has just been release so people are trying stupid formations to se if they can find cheap ways to win. Thats society. Let's not throw the baby out with the bathwater.

If you lock formations like in FIFA UT you get a situation where gameplay becomes super rigid and you play against the same formations over and over along with few being super strong compared to others. I like people being able to do whatever, we must report feedback if there are bad exploits though.

Are you just saying this because you don't play online by any chance? Because if so, you're saying "let everyone be idiots" - meaning guys who actually watch football, like you and I, can't get anything out of playing online.

I'm saying this because i came up against one of these guys already who made a silly 4-1-1-4 madness and he actually had the change formation to something more conventional 4-3-3 at half time becuase he had a very hard time getting any shots at goal becuase of how i defended against him. I won 1-0 :)

It dosen't bother me really, it's society. People just do whatever to win, if they don't they either moan and bitch or try other methods.

4-2-3-1 as PESSep has spoken about is actually very strong in this game in general rather than this 6-0-4 stupidness which dosen't even suit the game.

Here's a lovely team goal from bang average Blackburn
Notice how not every pass is first-time? And how they have to stop and look around the pitch to find a target, it's not just instant? And how the long, cross-field ball wasn't direct to feet?

Sorry, I don't mean to sound like a dog with a bone, but that clip is a million miles away from @Ameppe's. His clip, every pass bar one is first-time and perfect.

There's no disrespect involved. The best team in the world would struggle to put that move together, with everything first-time and laser-accurate.

This is all Exhibition mode though. Who knows how will the teams play in Master League when script is enabled. I already saw something with Colo Colo attacking behaviour that doesn't feel good to me.

I mean, look at the goal they scored me, Superstar difficulty. That is totally unrealistic and something i wish they completely erased from the game.

Even Pep's Barca can't do this piece of s***.

I don't understand the point of the skill done at 0:04.

Probably because I expected Salah to movie in on me or maybe just to try stuff out, I don't remember.

But the point of the video was to show how the double touch move left the defender behind as another user said that skill moves were useless in this demo.

...2 things this clip shows..
1. Keeper often seen kicking ball illegally over 18yrd box line..as long as i dont get fouled :p
2. That's one mega kick out of the keeper's hand...holy shit...look where it lands. Cant remember a keeper being able to kick this far in previous versions.

Heres the clip (started recording late, so although u dont see it, keeper is kickin ball outta his hand):

Thats my main problem with pes. I have no doubt colo-colo could beat anyone under the right circumstances but the problem is teams especially lower rated teams playing like 2009 Barcelona with very low pass error is a pain. Especially in ML when you play 2nd div teams. We won't know until the full game if this is still an issue in 19 but I can live with it. Overall like the demo, seems like a definite improvement over 18. Wish they had 3d grass in all views as it just looks class in replays
Exactly; it's less about who wins and more about how.

why did they change the default controls buttons? We trying to copy FIFA with the R2 turbo?

In any case... the demo is great, I love the pace and the more tactical approach. Less arcadish than the pats few years... hope they don't patch it up and ruin it when they release the game as they do each year.

Awesome help by @Chris Davies to make that video reach Adam Bhatti. He now knows and there is a tiny bit more possibility they could actually try to tweak it or improve. Videos shows much better than words when there is something wrong with the game.

No worries man, I tried to put together videos like that in my video review last year - it's exactly what they ask for when it comes to feedback, they say it helps.

Here's the thread for anyone interested:

Of course, they are to entirely different situations. I was giving a general example of smaller teams can play nice football.

But i'm sticking to my point on Colo Colo's goal, I will not back down and i'm going to make a big point on this! Its only 10% AI boosting for me and 90% Ameppe terrible defending because every pass was very presentable for the AI! Even the backheel at the end, he had all day to set that up and so much space

It was a 5 on 3 and becuase especially the center back was nowhere basically no defender stood their ground or tried to anticipate how Colo Colo would attack which would had lead to one of Colo Colo's passes messing up or the most important thing which is making the AI having to keep the ball and 'think' of a pass! Every first time pass from a Colo Colo player was helped also by Ampee moving some else out of position until the goal happened.

I want to show you a breakdown here.
o6TR0hZ.png

The problem begins with Jordi Alba is out of position as Colo Colo begin their attack.

OoETBNW.png

Then here, Colo Colo use 'False 9' so the Striker Paredes has dragged Pique out of position, this is where Ameppe needs to react but..

GgpO5C0.png

As he completes the pass he continues to run forward into no mans land, Busquets is nowhere also and because Iniesta i can see is set to 'CM' (watch in the later stages in the video,he just runs back centrally) he has no awareness at all to track the fullback making a run absolute free as a bird on the flank, free as a bird with the DM with all the time in the world to find him.

1zVDQdq.png

Because Pique along with Busquets is nowhere by the time the pass has reached the fullback its not just 5 on 3 but Jordi Alba now starts the domino effect of players being pulled out of position to cover spaces left which allows a series very easy presentable passes in space for Colo Colo to score. Even here if he selected Alba to run back with his maker and just allow the Colo Colo fullback time to run while allowing his teammates time to get back instead of naively closing him down he would not have played the through ball.

The main point is that this could of all been prevented by simply moving Pique back and keeping with his man.

Here:

szLHh2p.png

if he moved pique back and followed the strikers run after the the layoff.

848cK0m.png

After he passes to the fullback, Jordi Alba can easily close down the full back even without Iniesta having to do anything along with Piqu tacking the striker and Umtiti moving over to cover the other attacker. Colo Colo would not have played risky first time passes across here across the box becuase with all the players closed down well, he could of used Busquets to run back and add balance to the center making Colo Colo have to think about how to continue their attack.

Most importantly notice the difference between the 5 on 4 at 30 meters compared to 5 on 3 inside the 18 meter line with 3 players on 2 in the box!!!

This goal was very easily preventable with keeping the defensive shape, This is the most important factor to defending, this is the importance of tactics, its keeping your shape so you force the AI to do things the hard way. year after year people concede goals like this and blame the AI, but the AI is not at fault here at all, its just bad defending. There are some cases of cheating and AI faults but this is not one of them.

There nothing special as you see about Colo Colo's passing either, they had so, so much space and time.

Which controls have they changed?, have I missed something here?! What's the R2 turbo you speak of?

I'm going to keep playing against Colo Colo to see if there are some more situations like these but will record in realtime, not using replays, will show cursor switching, etc. That video doesn't show that the Colo Colo attack, especially the three consecutive passes near the flank, were so fast the cursor didn't even have time to let me choose the defenders in penalty area and react. This is exactly the same that happened in Pes 2018 together with the erratic cursor switch.

lets say I play pes 2019 using a wireless controller on PC and I need to take a poo because I spent the past 5 hour micromanaging MyClub so I can play one game.
poo takes longer than expected so by the time I get back controller has disconnected.
i cannot reconnect the controller. i have to restart the game.

same thing happened in PES 2018 and I think i read other people having same problem on some steam PES 2018 forums.

we've peaked as a species, haven't we?

I am using dualshock 3 with scptoolkit, we can set the idle time before it sleeps.

for those who make videos of skills and goals, you will suffer much this year, right gear is useless, and the strangest thing that konami anounced that they added 12 skills LOL, if you want to apply any skills the AI will take the ball, they don't take any reactioin of your feint, and it is not like human being reaction at all, even if you apply fake shot, they will go toward you as if you did nothing, you can't pass any defender, you should apply a huge bunch of ping pong passes to score, people are now amazed by graphics and animation, and when they will start playing master league you will see the complains, pes 2019 is pes 17 with new graphic but people always forget,

Not true.
I'm not a fan of the Tricks Stick, but I managed to skin some defenders by using it.

I would love to see an even MORE PRONOUNCED individuality though, but it's definitely there, to some degree.
When I get home I'll upload 3 or 4 short videos of certain things I actually found pretty great.

I've noticed over the years that from a CPU AI doing skillmoves/tricks perspective, the demo always seems to have them not quite disabled, but certainly very rare to witness..........and when the full game is released, they start to do the skillmoves/tricks much more frequently, so hopefully that is the case this year as I like to see the CPU doing them especially if they make sense to do the trick contextually to where the player is on the pitch, and who is surrounding him etc.

ok

I love it even more. So easy to keep the ball with Barca against Colo Colo but its difficult and rewarding to break down them! possession 70-30 in the 20 min game. And over time they get tired and the goals come as i just pass around not run around sparing my players for the last minute . 3 goals at least in every game.

im having a blast with this demo! after 11 years finally

Damn, i really wish they had atleast 10 minutes long matches.

I played this manual pass in one of my first online matches last night, resulting in a goal;

(click for higher quality/60fps)

Then I realised... This inch perfect, 60-70 yard ball with pace and swerve was played with Wijnaldum's weak foot, a player who has 2 weak foot accuracy in the game...

But you did that with L2 modifier, that is totally manual, no stats influence whatsoever.

Playing PES 2018 after a dozen of matches in PES 2019 feels like heaven. It literally feels like soccer.
Pes 2018 is like 5 years ahead of PES 2019, almost in every aspect.
Eye relieving, after Pes 2019's ping pong, rocket ball, with ice skating puppets.
