PES 2019 Demo Impressions Thread

I know the site for a long time, but my english is not good enough hahaha. I was not very active with PES last couple of years, so that's why I never took the time to register at evo web. Now I'm back :-)

I really like the demo and pray to god that they will not change the retailversion.

On what console do you play? I guess PS4?

It's also possible to play against friends using the shareplay feature. Some of the guys in my league have been doing that.

I also matched against a mate last night. We chose similar PA filter (both use PA1), Lvl.5 internet filter, and confirmed at same time. Was nearly 2am though, at a time when most of the world didn't yet have the demo. May have helped.

Ok despite saying i would wait i ended up using @wolly1979 tutorial to set up nz account

So after about 4 hours last night and 1 hour this morning here are my thoughts:

-It looks significantly better than last few editions
-Passing feels better however is still quite assisted and also sometimes decides to put ball nowhere near where your aim is. Infuriating but also sometimes you benefit from it. Regardless it shouldnt happen.
-Still too many goals in 45th and 90th minute but overall other than that happy to report no noticeable scripting! If i lose its because i deserve to lose finally.
-Like daniel said physicality needs tweaking, its not possible to hold the ball up with likes of giroud and i saw Bonuventura push Pogba off the ball wtf
-Seen some really nice stuff like a long ball from keeper that went over opponents high line and i ran on to it with suarez 2 bounces and smashed it in on the run, stuff like that doesnt happen in pes 18 because no matter if chance is on or not the defender always manages to get there to stop anything organic happening
-Seen more natural deflections
-Game still suffers from ping pong build up, a real shame

Overall if this game is released i would buy it, i am not bothered with CPU AI and can forgive smaller issues, all i want is a FAIR game and this like last years beta is it. PES 19 is fun currently.

I am enjoying it whilst it lasts as game will no doubt be ruined when Online Divisions and MyClub come into play.

P.S when i load up the demo my display goes dimmer, i mean even the PS4 menus become darker. When i close the demo everything returns to normal colour. Other games are normal

Is this a 4k thing or because i downloaded from NZ?

is your tv HDR compatible!? could be this. my tv turns brighter/more coloured when switching into HDR mode. change in resolution (fhd to uhd or vice versa) doesnt do that to my samsung tv.

Check your video input. It will change the moment you activate the demo and when you stop playing it. It's a 4K thing.

I've played 3 full manual games online.

1. Camera options are still limited and terrible. All are too zoomed-in for me. Blimp is half-decent but too zoomed out and no option to custimise it.

2. I paused a manual match and was able to change my shooting to assisted. Jesus christ. If I want to play manual then I don't want to be playing against assisted shooters.

^^ The lack of options such as the above prevents me from ever buying PES regardless of gameplay. It's been like this for years and still continues. ^^

As for gameplay, it's whatever for me. Still feels too similar to all the recent PES titles. Still seems to be too easy to get powerful shots off (not enough importance put on body position and balance and whatnot); body collisions still feel clunky in comparison to FIFA; air battles still feel very lacking (though maybe this one I require more practice, I dunno); too much space all over the pitch it feels.

The ground passing game and responsiveness of left stick dribbling are still decent, those two things have been PES' strong points for these last few years. But as an overall package it still feels lacking and dated. I didn't get much joy out of any of the 3 goals I scored.

My opinion so far is about as I expected - I think Konami found their base with FOX engine in 2014 and have been iterating on that bad game since, and the fundamentals just aren't evolving or progressing enough for me, nowhere near. The game needs radical, fundamental changes, not minor tweaks and iterations.

Will keep playing the demo for now. Still very impressed that they included online!

Every single Camera option on PES I cant get on with. Not one even custom camera feels quite right.
Im really trying to like PES19 but Konami are doing their best to make me not buy it for 3rd year running.
I think both Konami and EA have confused such a simple game Im no longer sure what I want from them, what I enjoy and what I dont!
Ill keep hammering the demo but Im 95% sure I wont be buying this on release day.

That´s really fucked up!
You know those kids who wanna win at all costs, so they might find their way to do so and have their advantage over a manual user.
Shouldn´t be so hard to lock that option in a game.
But again, another proof how sloppy KONAMI works in some areas.

It proofs that Konami doesn't understand the importance of online gaming. They just don't understand or maybe even want to understand.

Just had a game vs shalke… their striker was one on one vs my keeper (with my defender just behind)… and controlling my defender I did a last ditch slide, which resulted in their striker going down. Whistle blown... what I thought was a clear penalty, that I gave to them, with my reckless slide tackle, was in fact a foul against their striker. On closer inspection, via replay, my defender actually totally missed their striker, who in fact dived down to the ground before I had even reached him with my leg. Clear dive by the AI striker.... and at least I didn't get punished for it

Well , there is some improvements but..

- shooting is still too ...soft , 90% shoots and almost no emotions on my face

- physical battles doesnt exist , i think engine is outdated , its terrible and looks like pes 10

- every AI team play in the same way , they even didint try to work on this ;/

- again pass stats doesnt matter at all , colo-colo spamming with 100% accurancy pass

i think human vs human is better , its not game for single player

But I'm not sure if they even have to though. Maybe the "search for similar settings" filter only accounts for PA, and doesn't account for your shooting setting. I don't know. But in the pause menu, PA was not allowed to be changed but shooting was allowed to be changed. Why would they block out one option but not the other, unless your shooting option is irrelevant to the search filter?

Either way, there is literally no way to ensure that you play a full manual vs full manual online. It's a joke.

Well yeah, I was hoping there was a filter for the shooting section either, but as @fregen already mentioned, it´s the same as last year.
Would like to be sure to play against a full manual player and not against someone who uses PA0 but basic shooting.

Only thing you can do is to hook up with a full manual player from somewhere.

had a yellow card given to a striker diving in the pen area in PES2018 just 2-3 weeks ago! never saw that before! liked it a lot! and yes. i tought i get a penalty against me... but the ref was right. i played the ball and the AI striker was just diving!
i like the amount of fouls in 2019! really suits my play style and i get enough, imo. 2 air battles in the penalty area still stuck in my head. both were fouls by the AI, believable fouls (arms to high, rushing into opponent)! barca hacked my schalke down a lot! they tend to get kinda angry when i build up my play slowly! like it!

I´am a more than average PES player, if I may say so myself, but I never play PES online since 2017. I competed in offline tournaments in Holland, that´s were the real players are. I just hate the difference playing online or offline in PES. It's huge, and I mean HUGE. I prefer offline play at all times. I didn´t even bother checking online out in PES 2018. I play against friends at home, I really hate online playing against strangers when it comes to PES. It's all about exploiting online, not about skills. One stutter online and that means the difference between a goal or a miss in my case. It just never really feels right for me online.

Played a few games last night, couldn't really give any impressions because I was very neutral on it and not sure what to think. Had games this morning which were quite positive. Not results wise, I have still only managed one goal in something like 10-12 games on top player, manual passing. But I have had some nice link up play.
One thing I am experiencing with manual passing is that even if I make a perfectly weighted pass, sometimes the receiving cursor will move to a different player, further away, obviously messing everything up.
I did try PA1 and didn't hate it right away, that's an improvement over the last few years.
Momentum Is nice, switching directions quickly feels quite slow but right, if they speed that up because of some dumb feedback I will be furious. I still had to slow down to -1 but there were times at the start where normal speed felt fine. Again, changes toward making the game faster would be heartbreaking.
Really hard to get a real grip on such a short ass demo though, but it does look really sweet.

Its not as good as local multiplayer but for me the competition aspect of online puts it over playing vs CPU

That said if it is same as year and not fair i will not play it just like i did not this previous year.

Guys I need your help!

I'm sorry, I didn't go trough entire thread to check if someone had similar issue. I have extreme flickering playing demo on PS4 slim, using Samsung UHD 4K 40" JU7000 series TV (I think it should be 2016 mode). Didn't have any issue with PES 2018 or any other game before.

Manage to find a way to "fix" it but turning off HDMI UHD color option OFF from TV menu settings but graphics becomes extremely washed out, including lighting. (like setting up everything to low settings in PC game).

Anyone knows some other fix or solution guys?

I'm having fun with the demo. i take it for what it is. It's still a little fast paced, sometimes end to end. But this is the direction of pes and i was able to have fun.

Like i always say scripting breaks or makes the game for me and will only see that in full release

That´s a good way to go.
Everyone has different likes, dislikes, expectations.
I for myself enjoyed all the games I played last night and surely gonna buy that game.
I can see myself having a lot of fun, playing an ML with 20 mins time.

Sometimes I´m scared that some user on here discovers something, or points something out which makes me hating that game. But thx god, it hasn´t happned yet

I´m still praying that they won´t speed the game up or change the weight of the players.
To me it´s nearly perfect the way it is.

I think people get the boundaries of a video game, spanning 20 minutes to reality very blurred.

It has to be fun to play first and foremost, that means excitement, a combination of medium and fast paced play, with the odd amazing moment.

For me this demo ticks all those boxes, if I want to see total freedom, have proper first touch and shooting error...I’ll simply go to the park for a kick about.........

That's a shame, I have the same issue with all the camera angles being too zoomed in. If you want it zoomed out more you need a magnifying glass to play with Blimp cam. This kind of stuff in addition to the useless replay camera angles is unacceptable, they aren't evolving the game in these areas at all. What are all those extra developers they hired doing? It's so frustrating.
