PES 2019 Demo Impressions Thread

I'm enjoying the demo a lot - agree with others that 5 minutes feels too short to get a proper feeling for it but it's been a welcome improvement to a lot of areas from PES 18. I think for my own sanity I'll probably try to avoid this thread though, some people really only love to focus on the negatives. It's a lot easier to be negative about something than it is to be positive - the demo has been fun, I'm sure the full game will provide me with more than enough entertainment for a year for £40.

Loved those videos and that's how far this series has come, very vivid and lifelike at times, they've knocked it out the part on the animation front.

But yeah I agree that I think some people have unhealthy expectations and are forgetting that at the end of the day, it's a video game. It's not some kind of simulation kernel that Konami owes us and it's never gonna be 100% realistic. Yeah I agree that maybe shooting and crossing is a little too successful and could do with a little more unpredictability but it's not awfully unbalanced by any means and there's always manual for those that different experience.

As i can start testing the demo tonight for the first time, i am very curious what people say about the difficulty level. The few ones that mentioned it all talked about an easier experience on superstar. I assume this is down to the "humanized" AI, as PES2018´s (very welcome) challenge was to handle the exaggerated lofted through balls.

Also i hope the option to switch up to "legendary" is still present if superstar turns out to be as laughable easy as in PES2017.

So do you concede regularly against superstar CPU and are they a threat in front of the goal?
It's difficult to judge In these short 5 minute games, a decent spell of possession and the half is nearly over.

Never understood this trail of thought. I'm sure there are a few people with unhealthy expectations but pretty sure they would be the absolute minority. People who dislike PES recently, for offline reasons anyway, have been pretty clear about where they feel the game is lacking and some of it is pretty fundamental to be honest. To be clear I don't want a full simulation either, my favourite PES is PES 6 which by quite a lot in the retro community is seen as too arcadey!

It is just a video game, but this is a forum dedicated to that video game so surely this is an appropriate place to critique the game and not tell those with criticisms "it's just a video game"?

yep, after a few games of online i definitely know that mode is not for me.

despite the fact the game is weightier and has been slowed down, the gameplay is still the same in that it actively rewards the player who plays quick one touch football, the passes are too accurate and there is too much space. which means its actually hard to lose the ball and you can advance up the pitch quickly. playing slower considered football doesn't really get you anywhere.

also, not sure if it's a coincedence but everyone i've played is using palmeiras who have that awful 4-2-1-3 formation with 2 DMF and 1 AMF the midfield is just vacant and it makes the game look and play terribly.

I do worry that the game will come with a day 1 patch to speed everything up. Can't see the casual players liking the new slow pace of play and weight, I bet they're already moaning on Twitter/Facebook etc.

Guess I´ll skip online matches in that demo.

How can 5 matches be decent if you have so less time and people wanna score as quick as possible?
Hardcore pressing and rushing seems to be inevitable in that case.

That´s my biggest concern :(

Online matches are 10 minutes. It's only offline that's 5 for some ridiculous reason.

Just played a manual match online and boy, it's beautiful! And it does feel like it's not completely manual, Lucas Lima felt much better when passing than Melo.

So if you press full power the pass button to the side lines instead to the attempted player facing forward Melo, will he pass to him or rather towards that player instead to the sides? Never understood this manual is stat based assisted argument. Manual is manual. Only what you can feel is that better players will adjust their position to receive the ball mor efficiently. Stats dont really matter in the past year due to the assistance levels exactly.

PA0 in Pes 2018 and this demo even more has a little assistance that makes passing better, more precise when using players with higher passing skills. That doesn't mean if you press full power to the side lines passing will be adjusted to reach the player, it will still go out of play. But it's not 100% manual and you can see it especially on long balls. 100% manual is only with modifier, L2.

It might be placebo then. Last year I used Ajax a lot and Ziyech was a wonderful passer even when using manual, but that could be because he is quick, technical or whatever.

Bottom line is it doesn't really matter if it's pure manual or not since stats doesn't come in to play when using PA 1 either...

Hey guys. For all who has PS4 PRO: Do you have an issue, that your games console is VERY loud, as like an aeroplane when playing PES 2019 Demo. PES 18 is pretty quiet, but DEMO is so f(cking loud.

its just summer, i guess! my ps4 pro has some trouble when the room is warming up over the day. other than that, PES not stressing my ps4 in an unusual way.

Yes, I was just about to post the same thing, crazy noise during gameplay! Louder than Horizon or God of War, seen a few people messaging the usual Konami suspects on twitter without getting a reply (surprise, surprise!)

I have the exact same thing : when playing the pes2019 demo my ps4 pro is extremely loud.
Sounds like they are launching the space shuttle inside my living room.

Other games are fine, sometimes cutscenes will cause the fan to go crazy, but in this demo it's loud all the time.

@pacpes :LOL:
i know. friend of mine just found this.

what really was suprising last night, how human the AI was playing (attack wise and team style wise). varied. still like that fact a lot! makes me smile even today.

today ill go more into the tactical side... deep down into the menus and options... lets see what a good manager can do. :)
i fear that there will still be only 3 slots to save team tactics... and thats sad!

Feel the same. The weather is crazy hot in here but this demo makes Ps4 go in hyperdrive. Probably because it's badly optimized. It also has some stutterings here and there.
