PES 2018 PlayStation & Xbox Discussion Thread

Sorry I haven't read everything but am the only who sees a difference in passing?

it's more responsive and they for sure made PA1 easier or better.. however you describe it. it seems they have responded to those who complain about the passing being horrible and sluggish. I notice a different here for sure

I was worried about the fouls thing.. thinking they could screw it up by adding a bunch of tic tacky fouls but they didn't do that.. but now there is fouls that get called without slide tackles which before i hardly ever seen that. I also believe the CPU AI is more aggressive .. they were averaging 1 - 2 yellow cards vs per match in the 3 matches i played.

keep in my mind my impressions are after playing mainly online only. last night after the patch was the first time i played offline in at least a month.. but I at least play this game every other day if not every day... and the only reason I played offline last night was because the servers were offline after the patch. but from what I saw they made the game for those of us who play online a lot like myself a lot better. so i'm very happy with the patch.

from what I saw.. the AI defenders react better to lob thru ball which is a good sign but I will wait until i play online to fully determine that. I tested against the CPU on Superstar spamming air thru balls and I couldn't ever exploit them. It will be interesting how this looks online. however, the CPU AI still tries it vs me the same. but for me the 2 biggest things is the player switching is a lot more responsive. I already gotten use to it but some of my friends I play with constantly complain about it. I'm happy it appears there will now be more free kick opportunities when playing 1 v 1 online as well. this will make already my favorite game to play online at the moment vs friends even better experience.

oh yeah.. I did see the keeper catch the ball different once in my 3 matches that looks they added. a minor thing to notice but i did forget to mention that. I'm surprised that konami actually did make all the things they said better better... at least for me. that's a first with any gameplay update i'm use to with fifa or pes. usually they don't do shit or make it worst. this one is nothing but a positive for once so i say props to that

placebo.. is ball physic, feels bit more free and lighter.. like it.

ha ha.. yes I don't mention stuff like this because i think it's placebo in my head too but the ball feels different to passing. i feel it has more zip on it.. and it made it more responsive and accurate . I even noticed that turning on like a fake shot for example was faster than normal or when cutting. it's just little things that feel different but i can't confirm any of it.

the things i know for sure that is different are the ones i listed already

-player switching is improved
-more fouls are called. I gave 2 video of fouls being called that were never before for example. they actually call standing tackle or body bumping fouls now which before i never saw this hardly
-cpu is more aggressive to foul at times. as far as yellow card type of tackle fouls i noticed more now
-passing feels better.. however, some people that like to be super sim may say passing is not better because it is easier now on PA1
**-defensive AI react better to the air lob thru ball... I want to fully see this in action online though so I will asterisk this one for now. I am great at stopping it already but I will be able to tell for sure on this online tonight when I play because there are 2 certain type of online abusers i always have to counter.. one is the air lob thru ball spammer guy who I can easily stop now..but the other is the tiki taka narrow formation button masher on PA3 guy... ha ha

Gameplay better offline but less fouls now .. average one a game .. .dreadful decision.

i had a difference experience.. granted it was only 3 matches though

here is a pic of one of my matches last night after patch. there were 4 fouls called in the first 22 minutes of my match.. 2 against the cpu and 2 against me. and the 2 against me I didn't even think should be fouls really... I'm just knocking the cpu off the ball with the super cancel body and now they call it it seems sometimes which before they never called this

maybe the columbian drug lords are just very aggressive

One of my main gripes was that the AI attack was 80% lob balls to the wings... Can someone please confirm this has been fixed or toned down with the patch please? Toned down backheels as well?

I've played both exhibition and competition (european cup). Superstars.
No, i don't think it is 80% lob balls to wing. When they do the lob, i feel have more control to defend againts it or their passes less accurate than pre-patch.
Backheels, they still exist but not often, even less in exhibition i think. When they do the ball travels slower than how it was pre-patch.

It's the amount of fouls by the Cpu which everybody is interested in . .. .Pre patch I averaged 4 sometimes 5 post patch it's 1 or 0 per game, they were supposed to adjust the fouls to increase them not decrease them. .I only play offline.

So far I have played 2 games after installing the latest Patch, 1st game was on professional , was 4 fouls, 2 from me and 2 from CPU for first game. Second game on top player 1 foul from me and 2 fouls from com. I know its early and going to try some more games and test out different teams but im not seeing any notable differences. Defenders and midfielder still back off and quite often don't even pressure when the player I control starts running at them. Its still too easy to run down the wing with no pressure, I managed to do a long run with Rojo from edge of my box and get right to the edge of the opponents box before Kante and David Luiz finally managed to pressure Rojo and tackle him.

Perhaps editing the tactics off the teams might make them pressure a bit more and not leave big gaps, but I shouldn't need to have to make changes just to try fix these issues.

I also don't suppose anyone has checked ML at this early stage to see if the release clause bug and associated mental transfers are fixed in this patch?

This is one test 'sim' as such and the results are as follows:

Liverpool do not sell everyone, by the transfer window Gomez, Flanagan and Robertson were the only players who left the club.

However Arsenal and Bournemouth do like a transfer, Arsenal were invovled in the biggest deal with Mustafi going to Juve for 22m...on the flipside Arsenal do sign players and did pick up Virgil Van Dijk to replace him.

UPDATE - Deadline day saw Firmino go to Man City... Mahrez to Saints, who in turn sold Gabbiadini to Man Utd. Eric Bailly swapped to Real Madrid.

Its not perfect, but Arsenal did replace those players albeit with a fair bit of tat. No real massive deals, most of the teams have kept their star players, so the league dosent look silly.

Thats just 1 sim, so who knows, generally though a bit better

Just had 5 mins chance to look at the Xbox x enhancements this morning. Graphics look mint. Cant comment on gameplay yet.

only played 2 games post patch so far.

Exhibition game felt much faster than usual.
Still not seeing fouls.
Ai still spamming through balls to the wings
AI still doing a lot of backheels.

I hate those backheels, and the game just doesn't feel right to me.
Good thing I have a big backlog so lots of games to play.

THIS IS MUCH MUCH BETTER! WELL DONE KONAMI!

Just played a few games. not seeing as many fouls although i have been given some niggle calls that wouldn't have been called otherwise.

I have to say the a.i is vastly improved. The CPU attack is a million times better. Theres lots of nice variation and the keepers are smarter. The actual flow seems to be back to, scored a beauty with Griezeman before.

very very happy with this.

Not seeing many. Certainly before the patch they'd play that ball multiple times, now it seems they do it when the opportunity is on. Ive seen lots of ball passing back and forth, deep crossing and byline crossing. Malaga plays dthe ball back out to outside the corner of the box by about 15 yards and they pumped in a ball into the box, never seen that before.

I wish I could get on tonight to test this out, I've battered ML, and being a PES addict of many years I don't really buy into Placebo, it's either there or it isn't. I will report back when I've given it a good few sessions with my own 2-cents.

Manual has become PA1 lol.

I just did a test like this. I spent the entire game trying to create passing errors. It's so difficult to create passing errors even if I try to on purpose.

I also tried to play a pass between my players.

The "space in between players" is gone. I cannot send the ball to the space between my players. The game chooses for me, if I miss the first player, it goes to the second player. The gradation and freedom to express is no longer there. That's the law of assistance, the game chooses when it comes to details.

There is no "free ball meant for no one" on the field. I can't create that situation even if I try to on purpose.

I'm going to stop here and let u guys try it out and see what u think.

Holding L2 and Pass will sort that, I have no problem at all with this, I can ping it into Row Z.

Some of these goals have to be seen to be believed, the standing Scorpion Kick Flick from 30 yards beggers belief. And check out the penalty goals, unreal.

I put the game on after I got home from work. Here's the first 20 seconds of my first match.

Top Player. Brighton (not the best team).

Eight passes (excluding kick-off). Four first-time passes. One backheel. One lofted through-ball to the striker.

So, three quarters of the passes, from kick-off, were a first-time pass, a backheel, or a lofted through-ball.

Nearly turned it off there and then, but suffice to say, I agree with you after an hour of play. For me, all the problems I had with the game in the video review are still there.

That's not to say I don't think anything has changed - I think I see a little more variance in the AI's attacks - but I've also had literally zero AI fouls in six games, and the amount of the above passes is still insane.

I'm genuinely shocked about the fouls given that was the number one reason for the patch's existence!

Was hoping it was just me.
The increased speed (to me) i can fix since i'm currently playing on 0, so I will try -1.

The lack of fouls is indeed shocking, I really expected more since they "advertised" it.
I miss them mostly round the opponents penalty area. It's usually crowded and i get barged off the ball a lot.
Always check the replays after that and it's usually a clear foul, only not given by the ref.

Such a shame.

yep i'm definitely done, such a shame. the backheels, the one-two overhead pass with the striker. completely souless

Can anyone provide tips on what boxes to tick or not tick to apply patch to avoid my option file and kits from being erased?

Will the newly implemented licensed national team kits such as Colombia's, overwrite over the current applied kit from my pesuniverse?

Untick both boxes and everything should stay more-or-less the same*. I believe (though could be wrong) that you'll lose out on new faces and new kits if you do that, but until whoever produces your option file of choice undoes all the damage the update does (in terms of moving players around, resetting players etc.) then it's the best way to go...

Should you change your mind, you can apply the data pack at a later date using the "apply update" button on the game's main menu (the furthest screen to the right).

*League structure is reset, e.g. how many teams the Bundesliga is set to have, and where the teams are placed (some are in the "Other European" league).
