Really couldn't give two shiny shites about classic players, faces, tattoos or hairstyles. I am not 10 years old.

Come on Konami sort it out.

There's already loads of differing opinions in here

The PES heads will be like 'it's slower, it's heavier - game is amazing!'

FIFA heads will be like 'still no fouls, game is super fast now!'

Guess I will have to wait until I am home from holiday to find out the reality.

You are over-generalizing a bit too much, aren't you?. It's not all black or white.
I find it better better than pre-patch but still not good enough as I expected (specially the fouls thing).

Well, the game feels indeed better compressed in the midfield and heavier (at least from this first impressions). But fouls are still lacking in a way that (to me) is unacceptable especially after they said they were gonna work on it.

Take this from a PES head :P.. I can still enjoy Fifa but ultimately I'm a PES guy :).

I'm certainly no Fifa-head (did love Fifa 1998 so maybe just a little bit), but I feel a very clear difference in speed, much faster now, playing World Cup and normal League. Used to play -1, sometimes 0, can't see myself coming up from -2 now.

We all are. Every member of this forum joined because they love, or loved, PES. Really winds me up when a person decides they don't like (something about) the game and is suddenly regarded as a secret agent, and/or kicked out of the fan club, by a clique of "real fans" who would still love the game if the ball was replaced with a potato.

Looking forward to trying the patch shortly (off home for lunch shortly) - all I'm really hoping for is less of what I highlighted in the review video (the constant AI chipped through-balls, because it's like playing a kid online who's found an exploit and won't do anything else).

You're right, I was being pedantic and I apologise.

But you must admit, there are certain people who live in this thread telling us all how 'bad pes is' on a constant basis. We get it, they don't like pes 2018. But why tell us all every single day?

Both games are way behind where they should be by now.

The majority of posts I've seen most recently have been positive - look at @Jimmy G-Force's videos, they're excellent, and it's been nice to see some happiness back in the thread.

I haven't seen as much negativity lately (in-fact I remember reading a comment, from @gerd I think it was, commenting on the lack of it after those videos were first posted), because I think the guys who aren't happy with the game (I include myself) have been patiently awaiting the patch, and in the meantime playing other games (and by that, in my personal instance, I mean Football Manager - because, as you rightly say)...

Both games are way behind where they should be by now.

But the release of the patch will, doubtless, bring out both sides of the fence. I've already read comments that "nothing has changed" and "it's completely different"... So it's batten down the hatches time.

I played 3 15 min. matches and there was 1 foul by me and not a single one from the A.I. So still no free kicks and penaltys in this game for the next few month i guess.

The game is a little bit faster now or it feels this way (maybe it is a little bit more responsive and because of this it feels a little bit faster).
Player switching is very good, no problems with this at all.
I don't see as much lofted chip balls from the A.I. as before.

That's it. This Patch won't have a very big impact and won't change this game a lot.

still waiting patiently here too for some measured feedback

I reckon my expectations for this gameplay patch might have been too high.
I expected the AI to be a lot more pushy and get more aggressive when losing.
I've now watched Matt's new video about post-patch changes and I like the things he's pointing out about the increased defensive awareness. But there still a lack of fouls for me, I was expecting to see 5 or 6 per match (2 or 3 per half). It's no one's fault but my own for not managing my expectations.

This is so different, after 150 hours with the pre 1.03 game, the game feels insanely different. I like how aggressive and active the A.I. is, they are even making mistakes when passing, maybe I am being lucky here, it will take some time to be certain, but this is promising... so different and cool!

Feel the same way. The ai is a lot better. The variation from cpu when attacking is better...still some lofted through balls but not as much, more on the ground. When the lofted through balls are made it feels like the ai follow them better until u changed cursor. More wrong passes from cpu. And sometimes cpu put on real pressure which make it harder, but also get space behind that u can take advantage of.

About the fouls. Not a big difference on the numbers of fouls, but makes more sense now. When u get tripped u often get fouls now...doesnt have to be a slide tackle. I even got a free kick to my defender when their forward headed through goal...cause he was to rough in the aerial duell.

Still waiting for my first penalty.

I was battered 3-0 and 4-1 in my first two games post patch, looking back on it the goals didn't feel especially "cheaty" and after literally the second pass of the AI in the first game being a back heel, I have barely noticed them.

More playtime needed.

Really looking forward to trying out the patch tonight.
I had stopped pes to play some fifa 17. In the end i stopped playing it because it felt too frantic.

So yesterday i booted up pes again. Immediately loved the pace again.
Then i noticed the almost complete lack of fouls, and in my 1st match the cpu did about 6 or 7 perfect backheels.
That's why I stopped playing pes again.

So, i really hope today's patch is a good step in the right direction.
At least hoping for some fouls called against the cpu, since right now they just barge into me and take the ball.
I have little to no hope of them removing all those backheels, so will have to live with that.

Just give me some fouls!

Manual has become PA1 lol.

I just did a test like this. I spent the entire game trying to create passing errors. It's so difficult to create passing errors even if I try to on purpose.

I also tried to play a pass between my players.

The "space in between players" is gone. I cannot send the ball to the space between my players. The game chooses for me, if I miss the first player, it goes to the second player. The gradation and freedom to express is no longer there. That's the law of assistance, the game chooses when it comes to details.

There is no "free ball meant for no one" on the field. I can't create that situation even if I try to on purpose.

I'm going to stop here and let u guys try it out and see what u think.

Re: People saying it's slower or faster, please bear in mind it all depends on your camera settings.

The further zoomed out you are, the slower the gameplay will feel :)

I dont agree with u there.

The thing is before the patch everybody was complaining that when u passed the ball a bit on the side of a player or in space, the player didnt react, which made all those balls the player was just standing there without taking the ball.

Now they made the players more responsive on those loose balls and passes a bit on the side of the player....so the players doesnt just stand there.

The passing is still manual but the players to get the ball are more on their toes to get the ball which make the passing a bit easier. For me thats a great update unless u want the players to stand still like idiots when the ball pass them 2 meters on the side of them.

Stupid question - do you have the power bar hidden? What you’re describing is such a massive change, to completely remove PA0, that I can’t help but wonder if you’ve accidentally had your control settings reset to PA1.

I’m not one to exaggerate or anything, but if PA0 has been removed then Trump may as well push the button - humanity has already been wiped from the face of the Earth.

EDITED BY MODS TO REMOVE TOXICITY...

Not seeing fouls at all by the AI, AI still plays the same way for me, but cursor changing is better.

I also encountered this weird call after fouling the AI:

Well, I haven't posted anything in awhile. Been waiting for the patch. So far I played two 10 min games and it was a decent experience. But I got bored pretty quickly, I can say the gameplay is pretty good, the atmosphere in-game is still very poor tho. I can tell what they fixed but not what I hoped for. It still has the repetitiveness since the last time I played.

One thing tho I'm glad they didn't blindly increase the aggression of the AI cuz their probable solution would be to script it. They need to work on it for next year by adding animations that can trigger it rather than force a reaction. They should secondly, improve the body contact, as it's very poor now. That's why I think the game feels fast sometimes especially in the wings. The players rarely body contact or do shoulder to shoulder or back to back movements. That will increase the aggression and fouls for sure.

I also don't suppose anyone has checked ML at this early stage to see if the release clause bug and associated mental transfers are fixed in this patch?

No word on that in the patch notes so...

I noticed no change in passing in my two matches, but then again I wasn't really looking for that. Bit worried now.
