PES 2018 PlayStation & Xbox Discussion Thread

Not jimmy dude.Just relax those hands and think how contextual and sensitive every input you make is in the game, especially in regards to shooting.

Not played a pes that has such a range of sensitivity in input, you have so much control of headers and elevation.

How do you know that was about you, unless you are Jimmy? (Joking)

I think the majority of people can agree that sliders will be the only way to please a good amount of people. I am not sure why Konami is the only sports game that I know of that doesn't even make this an option.

Agreed. It looks like a decent base but what puts me off are: 1) first touch (non)error, 2) shot power, 3) pass accuracy. Yeah fine if Konami envisage a game where they'rre all wicked perfect but it's not my cup of tea and would love to have to option to change them to something more realistic.

I don't like FIFA but I really appreciate that you can make changes to better suit what you want from the game.

I've given the demo a decent amount of time, but I've just scored this goal (on Superstar) and without wanting to sound like a big ol' drama queen, I think I'm done.

This AI isn't going to be much fun in an ML, is it? (I'm Liverpool.)

I think it'll be great online, genuinely. The beta was brilliant online, more fun than any other football game I've played online.

But offline (and that's all I'm really interested in if I'm truthful to myself), if the gameplay is like this, well... It's not much fun.
well this is chris davis the admin and admitting that the gameplay is basic offline, well finally we have someone from staff talking about the negatives :)

The hallmark of a great pes is the layers and how contradictory early perceptions can be.Its like people only perceive what they want to see and have become to entrenched in there own personal expectations and what they perceive based on the games they already have extensive experience of.

What happened to the more open minded approach and folk really bedding in with game first.

I would hate to do the thinking for anybody.I do hope some of the doubters really open up they're minds.Be receptive, look at it with fresh eyes and look at the work that has gone into the gameplay this year.Easy to get bogged in the obsession of presentation and games of the past.

The wheel hasn't been re-invented but for me there's a freshness here,a deep curve I wasn't expecting and feelings I haven't had for a long time.

I've played 30 matches of the Demo now. Open mindedly used Advanced instructions, player roles, difficulties - whatever to find a way around the issues.

The same can be said on you choose what you want to see of nothing but positivity. Optimism is great, but video doesn't lie. It's clear as day of the issues.

It's not being negative, it's pointing out the very obvious. People sound negative at times because of how extremely obvious the issues are. People get even more negative when the very obvious gets refuted.

It's human nature.

The PEN IS RED.

Isn't an experience subjective?
It's not down to the fact if a pen is blue, and me stating it's red, that would/is a very cheap way of approaching it?
You see a lot issues in this game,we probably all agree on that.
Some comes out yelling "shooting is broken" "it's just 100 mph screamers"
I don't,I get my varieties in shooting just fine, hard, soft, low, high.
I think thats the main issue with this "critic" from some, and stating that their critic and the tone of their critic is just because some don't believe them? Really?
It's subjective,it's down to how you play, the issues that you bring up is something else, that's fair.

So people have issues with certain aspects in this game, some are fixable, some aren't
If you give an option to their problem they (some) get very offended "why should I play manual passing to make the game better?"
Because it gets better doing it,they have (guessing) absolutely no problem fiddling with sliders n FIFA to make it better?

Long rant Matt, but to summarise what I really mean here is,yes there's issues, but I don't buy the constant yelling in this thread to be down to the fact that no one listens to them, and "stating the pen is blue and you're all wrong" that's just disrespectful
Like I said,having an experience,gaming/music/politics/what woman you prefer,subjective!
My experience isn't the same as others, don't need to be put in a denial category for it,neither should the people that has a different opinion than mine, and I don't need to point that out 24/7 in posting after posting?

Hope you were able to follow my chain of thoughts here, had a long day, little food,2 hours of playing with the band, and I'm beat mate.

Scored this earlier.. good goal or overpowered shooting?

This looks good but what puts me off is the sound. Is very cool that you can hear ball hitting and bar hitting buuuuut that much takes me to Captain Tsubasa world.

zee this bugged me today. .... tell us what you think

What difficulty is this?

1. Left back taking a decision according to Messi running but when he changed direction he didn't react immediately but A LOT later.

2. Center backs are retreating (Do they know offside rule?) because forwards are running towards goal and giving MESSI tons of space. This would be interesting AI but I don't know if it works. They should be more worried about who has the ball than they are about those who may receive it.

I've played a few matches and i don't get really satisfied playing only exhibition matches, however I can say I'm truly impressed with PES 2018. I haven't been this happy since probably PES 2011 which was my favourite in the recent years.

Even if the graphics are nice and detailed & the lightning is great, what I like most about PES series is the freedom while playing. I play 0-pass assist and basic shooting, and I had a blast with these matches.
Playing Pro difficulty is, IMO, the most balanced experience, since playing top player/superstar seems to lose all the player IDs and all turn into some kind of androids.
I know some will argue about difficulty level, and some will show how can they score using ranbowflicks with a keeper through all the field, but that is not how I envision football.
I like variety and trying to use the players to their real-life counterparts, and that is probably why this game works so well for me. A friend I play against is always rushing forward looking for a end-to-end type of match, but i like slowing the match down and this game lets you do that.
I like how the ball again feels like an entity on its own, and it does not stick to the player's feet as in previous games.
Shooting feels good to me, heading, chipping the ball, etc. Feels balanced to me.

I love they removed the silly CK/FK method they used for the last few years, this is what i have been expecting for a long time! I cannot wait to get the full game so I can get into practice mode, I want to master crossing both from CK/FK as i used to do.

The tempo of the game should improve when entering a competition, as it always does. There should be more fouls & aggressive tackling from the AI.

The only thing i could ask to be improved is the GKs to come out and cut the shooting angle or dive at the attacking player's feet as it used to happen.
I hate that they just stand in the goal line waiting for you to shoot, for years i have been unable to run around the keeper simply because they very rarely come out, same as chipping goals.

Anyway, I've preordered the legendary edition only because It'll have Maradona.. and even if I don't play MyClub mode that much, I'll love to use that legend.

Cannot wait to play ML, BAL & the cups & leagues, call me a fanboy but i need my yearly fix of PES and this year's looks like it'll be really fun

Matt I wouldnt argue that your very knowledgable and have your own ideas of the direction or game you want pes to be.

I'm a gamer that loves my football and personally don't want a strict by the letters simulation.

Maybe it's a generational thing but I preferred football games that got the endorphins flying..That slight suspension or exaggeration of reality.

That doesn't mean arcade,or a stripping down of the fundamentals.

For me this is the best pes we have had. Both interms of balance and freedom.Ive grown tired of FIFAs attempt to replicate the less interesting side of football or the older restrictions of pes.On rails stat based automated gameplay.

Is the balance there yes,and I beg to differ because I personally think the way you approach and play pes is different then me..

Subjectivity is a wonderful thing and one mans wheat is another mans chaff.

I lie the Advantage rule is there. It's odd I noticed he blew as soon as I tackled the opposition but later games ended giving yellows once the ball went out of play.
How do you know that was about you, unless you are Jimmy? (Joking)
I know right I purposefully didn't qoute him and he bit. I miss my friend tbh.

Playing with my mates on full manual, this is the best game ever for that. If you ever have friends come over, just play with them in full manual. Best footie experience you will have if only stats meant a bit more. However the CPU is really far from it.

Enjoyed your post.BTW you can bring keepers out using X.It also allows you to get the keeper to react on shots.Enjoy.

Can't understand why they lock formations in the Demo.. I can understand that from marketing standpoints you'll want to kick teams & match time to tease the consumer & tempt them to buy the full game to play full games but like anybody is gonna make a desicion on a purchase because the player positions are locked.

Some of the AI defending is great; the way defenders will let you turn and get a shot off but get a great block on it to avert danger. That's class imo, realistic positional play.

@chiefrocka4real thats my preferred setup too. Professional, fm, 10 min (15 or 20 min in full game), cus. dyn. wide at 6/2. Higher difficulty levels always looked kinda hectic by the AI to me.
-1 speed I preferred last year. This year I'm mostly sticking to 0.
I set the contest to 60 and brightness to 45. Looks more vibrant. Can't wait to get home Sunday night and play it on my 55KS9090 instead of mothers old 42Sony. ;)
Have fun and behave! ;)

It's Superstar manual kundera.

I've never understood why their recent strategy is to out-Fifa Fifa itself online. If people like the pinball of Ultimate Team, that's what they're going to play — and that means playing Fifa.

but that is not what the PES online beta did.. the PES online beta was the most realistic football experience I ever played. Yes it beats FIFA 17 online and that why I got addicted to it and love it so much the biggest reason I'm most interested in this game. Not the offline play. the recent strategy should be that for PES to get guys like me who only play fifa online to convert. I can careless about FIFA offline and it's offline sliders.. imo that ruins FIFA and it's boring as hell playing the against the computer AI over and over and I can't EVER understand how these guys play seasons offline against the repetitive boring computer AI with sliders in FIFA. by far the more realistic experience to me is being able to use tactics to control a match against another human player.. and use your footballing brain to out smart opponents. You simply can not do that in FIFA online even though I still try to do that and I'm good in online FIFA. but it's more about whoever the best button masher is in FIFA. IN PES 2018 beta you can now control the flow of the match and use tactics online that work... for example, someone doing the high press speed bursting multiple players at you all match in FIFA online is much harder to beat than it is in the PES 2018 online beta.. you can easily beat the people who do not play proper football in PES online in that beta.. and for me that is the most simplest reason it was the most realistic and most addicting football game I ever played. and I have played them all since goal on the NES

for me playing the computer AI in fifa offline with sliders that matt's create is boring as fuck and repetitive.. and in the end not in a true realistic football experience for someone like myself that have played the game a high level my entire life.

Man I love this game so much, I wish there was more fouls. I mean a lot more of fouls. The set pieces in the game are awesome so what's the problem here. PES 2015 had a lot of fouls and a lot of people complained at how it was so excessive especially with giving out cards (I agree) but then again that's the last game we had fouls. They really need to look into it this year cuz it's even worse than last year. Even Adam admits it. Hopefully there is a patch.

I think online is going to be fantastic this year Steveee and if the beta is anything to go by I feel like the same ideology of punishing people you don't play proper football should still exist. I am personally excited to play online and it reminded what it was like playing PES 5-6 with my friends in high school and college. Also the demo is really really awesome playing with another human opponent.

Thanks mate, actually I've been playing PES since the ISS days so I know how to bring my GK out.. I was talking about the AI keepers, they seem reluctant to come outside of the goal line even for 1vs1 chances

exactly, under powered stats are killing it, bring out the stats.

http://www.operationsports.com/pes-2018-demo-impressions/

The guy said fouls were nonexistent in PES 2015. At least try to be aware of what he said. Clearly he's a casual cuz I remember PES 2015 specifically for the excessive amount of fouls and cards given by referee. He says fouls were fixed on PES 2017 even tho it barely had fouls. Not sure what he's playing or smoking.

Assisted, what were you expecting. The games a breeze with assisted settings.Football games for years have been totally one dimensional under these values.

You can see it in the ball physics.Just as you can in the other game.Arrows and strait lines although I would say your cursor changes and reactions look late.

Football games are always very linear and simple under these assisted settings.

I never did buy into the one rule should suit all because my experience will be very different then yours under such basic parameter and I personally feel your getting half the options and game.

dude I don't like manual setting, not because of challenge ! I like this aspect too much ...
but I hate when the pass/shot accuracy stats isn't matter ! (don't argue me to prove it is matter because it is not !! I tested a lot ... and I'm sure it's not matter)

if they give us an almost manual pass/shot setting that have only a little bit assisting by stats (even out of default setting). I would love that ! and I could bear playing only offline with that setting ...

I made a great suggestion about shooting calculation and programming that was easy to apply in the game but very balanced ... but they don't listen to constructive criticism.

I will find my post and copy it again for who want to see it again
