I´ve had another few games with my son and after that finally I had time playing for myself against AI.
Here and in another (German) forum I´ve been reading a lot that the beta was great and the demo is feeling meh.
Tbh, it didn´t click for me either.
I mean, I like it...I really do....I like the movement on the pitch, animations, ball physics.
It gets so close to wtaching a real match on TV which I like a lot.
When AI or me scored, I love watching the replays cause the movements are fantastic!
But it´s more of a "okay...cool" than "WOW! What the...?!"...for now though.
BUT....but but....
I remember having the same feeling with the PES 2017 demo. It was okay.
But when I played the full game, it clicked and I believe this might be the same thing here.
I´m playing on professional, full manual, speed -1.
In the other forum a lot of poeple were saying it´s too easy...they were beating AI on superstar with 7:1 etc...
Well, I don´t know how the hell they are playing, but I didn´t win one single game on those above settings.
And who is saying players don´t have weight?? They frigging have! You can´t turn quickly 180 degrees like in PES 2017.
Other players like Messi, Douglas Costa or Neymar feel a bit lighter which I think is good.
But here comes one of my big concerns: defending!
Trying to defend with - for example Pique - against Neymar is very hard when my opponent is on to dribbling.
With the back to the goal, I´m just not that agile as a dribbling striker.
I had it a lot that my defender isn´t as quick in reactions as my opponent which makes me feel that defending is a lot harder than in PES 2017.
Again another "BUT": I don´t wanna make a final conclusion here, yet. Maybe that´s good because in 2017 it was too easy. You could have pressed X + square the whole time and win the ball quite easily.
This doesn´t work here, so maybe I´m talking before going through the learning curve...need more games on this.
It´s just that I win ball posession more by missed passes from the AI than by stealing the ball with my player.
And then another thing that really puts me off:
I had it a few times that the ball is passing my player and he just stands there watching, doing nothing.
Example: I pass to a player standing next to me, quite close, so I slightly tap the X button.
He approaches the ball at first but then doesn´t touch it - even the ball is like half a meter away from him - waiting for the next player, the cursor switched to, to take it.
I had that a few times and it´s really ugly.
Btw, shooting is fine

For me at least!
I know I need to give this game more chances....it´s not that I completely dislike it....no way.
But I´m also not totally overwhelmed, but I believe that I need time to let it kick in.
It was the same with last years release.
It´s just sad a little bit because - excuse that lil offtopic statement - I remember playing demos that kicked in immediately like FIFA 16 and there was that WOW-feeling.
I hardly had that in any PES demo....but the full releases kept convincing me (except for PES 2015 + 2016).
