PES 2018 PlayStation & Xbox Discussion Thread

In all what you said, u never mentioned anything about shooting aspect which is kinda misleading

Misleading? I'm just relating my experience from what I've played .. .I did mention that there weren't many long shots . .I didn't get many chances to shoot as the A.I would close me down.. . .any shots that I got from outside the box didn't feel as powerful as last years game or as accurate and keepers are stopping a lot of shots.

@ Curdstar

Is the PA1 being more assisted again in comparison with the Beta something you could bring with you as feedback/question to Adam? I mean, if that's their choice fine, but it would be interesting to hear why it has changed. It's quite apparent.

Lol poor PES bruised and battered here atm.

I still haven't had a fucking chance to play it yet. Trying to concentrate on the blues progression in guitar class last night and remembering PES 2018 sitting on my console was hard work. I let out a loud sigh when our tutor said he wants to keep us a little later because we have alot to get though :D

I am concerned by what I read here but tbh I knew who would say what before the demo was released so no surprises there.

Another thing that needs to be considered is that the demo is notorious for inconsistency on a few areas
- difficulty: everything is easier on PES demos dribbling, shooting, passing, scissor kicks bicycle kicks are alot more prevalent and opposition defense are more forgiving...basically everything is easier
- graphics and animations : usually less polished than the final product
- keepers: usually pretty shit compared to the finished product

Anyway will leave my impressions as soon as I have had a dabble at it.
Minor pentatonic scale is all you need mate playing the blues

What makes u think its gonna be any different upon release date, these issues are fondamental inside the game engine with how the game is designed they are gonna change anything, all the flaws or most of 2017 flaws are still here
I just described what was different from the 17 demo and what was different when the full game arrived?
Jesus!

Yeah as if u are trying to hide the fact that shooting isn t fixed and still soulless, but anw u explained the part that u couldn t make shots from long range

I played a few games of the demo last night and certainly was left feeling deflated after loving the beta and being sure it was a day 1 purchase. The physicality is great; saw some fouls and advantages being played and some good off the ball battles. Shooting feels like it lacks something; proper acceleration perhaps?? Some good animations though.

Lighting looks really good but pitch textures look extremely basic...but inside the goals you can see scuff marks? The shadows are too heavy on one of the pitches during the daytime setting.

Played on Professional and had more of the play which was fine. Bumped it up to Superstar and they just played 4 backheel passes first time in one sequence...FFS. I'm going to give it some more games but it's thrown me a curve ball as to whether I buy it now.

Comments by one of the WENB staff who played it at the Windsor office around E3 time:

It definitely feels faster, however I think that's down to the weight of the players as opposed to the ball. Passing is too fast and more assisted. Keepers are inconsistent. Saw some amazing saves and then some weird ones. Big gaps suddenly appearing all over the pitch when I was just passing amongst players.

I preferred the build I played in Windsor personally. Overall it's a good game, but the above are noticeable imo. I will wait for the full game as for me, playing vs AI is at it's best in ML where you have real fatigue, form and have built your own squad. These things contribute to how you play the game etc.

Why do people who write the game off still hang around? They not raising new points or discussing anything just moaning in a continuous loop.
[Insert 15-1617] shit on Pes.
So fucking tiresome, yeah we get it,its broken,it's shit etc etc.
Same story every year, criticism yeah fine, the endless repeating.
I think FIFA is a bad game in many aspects, but I still enjoy it,don't need to make it my life goal to hoover the FIFA forum to shit all over it.
This is just how this forum was last year, endless moaning.
Make your voice heard, criticise it,move on.
So fucking boring

Misleading in what way and to who? He was just offering up his own general take on a free demo. He's not running for office.

For all the praise older PES' get, and for all that the conversation that could be had from both sides of the fence regards shooting, I think people forget that in PES 6 the distance shooting was so OP to the point you could score a winning goal with Adriano from the main menu.

So you've spent weeks slating people for their hyperbolic comments whilst demanding proof, then come out with this gem.

Amazing.

Changed my opinion after playing a few games last night and switching to advanced shooting. Scoring isn't as easy but PA1 is a bit too assisted and crossing isn't as effective as I first thought. If assisted crossing and manual passing was an option, I'd probably stick with that.

Another weird change from last year.
When defending a corner, select a player in the box and sprint to the wings. In 2017 one of the AI players would try to track you, now it does not. Makes it easier to counter if you win the ball quickly from the corner.
Oh no. :( I have to test this.

As I am really into details... you can't kick the ball away after the refs blows the whistle! I used to do that FOR YEARS! It became a habit that I loved!!
I don't know if it was intend or a bug...

I always smashed the ball away at halftime and at the end of a match.
Instead of implementing a yellow card feature for that, it Looks like they got rid of it.
Again: It is a really small detail, a minor thing, maybe I'm enjoying this alone and no one else cares... really not a game breaker. but it wasn't present in the beta and the demo. I fear it's gone in the full game too.

Man, i don't like it when something is missing after all those years!! :(

I agree.
So many complaints, year after year... PES 2015 was a more than decent game, pretty good I dare say (and still my favourite). It completely blew that year's FIFA out of the water for me.
Still, it received lots of criticism (not only here) for this, that, whatever...

It's been already said but it's worth remembering: NO game will ever satisfy us 100%. What feels/looks good to me may upset you... But just because you (a generic you, not talking about the real "you") don't like it, this doesn't automatically make the game shit for everybody else.

Thank god this year demo is so close to the release date so we will quickly see if these issues are part of the locked tactics, or being an exhibition, or spread throughout all single player modes.

Personally i don't think it's so bad. Pes 2016 was much worse in that case, i made a video about it. You could easily dribble and score. While in this demo you can arrive until the edge of penalty area but you simply can't score because defense is good enough in penalty area.

Even though going through the flanks is easy in this demo, crosses are not overpowered anymore and scoring with headers is much more difficult. Yesterday a guy on stream was trying to score with these easy methods, going through the flanks and just dribbling through the pitch and he never managed.

Like i said CPU should be more aggressive, making more fouls, but it's not so catastrophic as some of you make it seem.

Just have to emphasise after a few more games how badly Dortmund are set up in this game, absolutely terrible stuff

Question here, regarding the "feel" of scoring goals. Are we looking for more like PES 2015? In terms of ball to net interaction?

I feel 2015 was more spot on...am I wrong here?

Yes you are wrong (imo) This is even worse, there is no reaction at all!

Also it's not just net reactions, as the guys in this demo review video explain at length it's the fact shooting is so brainless:

I´ve had another few games with my son and after that finally I had time playing for myself against AI.

Here and in another (German) forum I´ve been reading a lot that the beta was great and the demo is feeling meh.

Tbh, it didn´t click for me either.
I mean, I like it...I really do....I like the movement on the pitch, animations, ball physics.
It gets so close to wtaching a real match on TV which I like a lot.
When AI or me scored, I love watching the replays cause the movements are fantastic!

But it´s more of a "okay...cool" than "WOW! What the...?!"...for now though.

BUT....but but.... :P
I remember having the same feeling with the PES 2017 demo. It was okay.
But when I played the full game, it clicked and I believe this might be the same thing here.

I´m playing on professional, full manual, speed -1.
In the other forum a lot of poeple were saying it´s too easy...they were beating AI on superstar with 7:1 etc...
Well, I don´t know how the hell they are playing, but I didn´t win one single game on those above settings.

And who is saying players don´t have weight?? They frigging have! You can´t turn quickly 180 degrees like in PES 2017.
Other players like Messi, Douglas Costa or Neymar feel a bit lighter which I think is good.
But here comes one of my big concerns: defending!

Trying to defend with - for example Pique - against Neymar is very hard when my opponent is on to dribbling.
With the back to the goal, I´m just not that agile as a dribbling striker.

I had it a lot that my defender isn´t as quick in reactions as my opponent which makes me feel that defending is a lot harder than in PES 2017.

Again another "BUT": I don´t wanna make a final conclusion here, yet. Maybe that´s good because in 2017 it was too easy. You could have pressed X + square the whole time and win the ball quite easily.
This doesn´t work here, so maybe I´m talking before going through the learning curve...need more games on this.
It´s just that I win ball posession more by missed passes from the AI than by stealing the ball with my player.

And then another thing that really puts me off:
I had it a few times that the ball is passing my player and he just stands there watching, doing nothing.
Example: I pass to a player standing next to me, quite close, so I slightly tap the X button.
He approaches the ball at first but then doesn´t touch it - even the ball is like half a meter away from him - waiting for the next player, the cursor switched to, to take it.
I had that a few times and it´s really ugly.

Btw, shooting is fine :P
For me at least!

I know I need to give this game more chances....it´s not that I completely dislike it....no way.
But I´m also not totally overwhelmed, but I believe that I need time to let it kick in.
It was the same with last years release.

It´s just sad a little bit because - excuse that lil offtopic statement - I remember playing demos that kicked in immediately like FIFA 16 and there was that WOW-feeling.
I hardly had that in any PES demo....but the full releases kept convincing me (except for PES 2015 + 2016).

I agree.

True day aLe.
Actually played Pes 15 last night, even though you and me are the only ones liking it:)
Still a very underated game.
Maybe the crowd whining in here for 2030 will have that as a measure of greatness:)
Trying to resist shitting on the other game, but serves no purpose being an repetitive robot like the ones on here.
I like Pes,loved 15,more now than then,16 came out ok after the last patch,17 has been and still are very enjoyable.
Don't need to go all out "rain man" over positioning and how the radar looks to enjoy a sports game.

Haven't played an all out sim game for any team sports yet, probably won't either.

One more thing. I've been playing quite a couple of matches since the demo released in NZ. Been playing different difficulties, different teams, different stadiums and conditions...
To make it short: I burned one pizza in the oven while playing. :D

I feel I have to play more... a lot more. This year I'll (try to) wait a little before posting my first impressions.

You see, I started playing PES 2015 when I grew tired of the other game, because it was dull. Since then, I can only play PES because it gives me things that the other game can't. Then, I found this forum, with good lads posting good things... and other things that weren't that good.

But as of today, this is unbearable. You can't like the game. You can't like the demo, or PES 2017, because it IS (?) "soulless", "not good in tactics", "can't get fundamentals", "shooting is broken I don't need to change my Basic Shooting", etc. And the one that is optimistic about it and fights against the senseless haters is getting hated for being optimistic. Well, okay, got it. I won't say anything good about this game so I can get along with the others.

Oh, and it's fun to read that PES and KONAMI are broken because "basic shooting", "tactics", etc., while people praise the other game for having sliders and the chance to customize your experiencie, while KONAMI, of course, doesn't offer us an option that is as customizable as sliders, offers us some kind of customization aka basic / advanced / manual; fluid formations / advanced instructions.

Perhaps we should have an optimistic post separated from the "Constructive criticism, feedback, etc".

I need this on PC right now, btw. Too much hyped :_)

Good and brave post, you'll probably get shat on for it,I agree to your thoughts.
Criticism is one thing, repetitive "broken soulless" another thing
Thanx for sharing @ianni

Sorry but if you only played since 2015 you don't have the frame of reference required to understand where people are coming from. As Walter famously said in The Big Lebowski, "you're out of your element Donny". Lecturing people that have been playing the game for most of their lives for having misgivings about the game is not cool

Sorry, but I started playing ISS 1 and 2 on my PSX, and then I played PES 5 and 6 like all the hardcore fans here do. So I understand the frustration, I just don't understand the looping and the attack on the ones that are optimistic. You see, I can be optimistic while I can address the problems. And no, I'm not lecturing anyone.

Yeah as if u are trying to hide the fact that shooting isn t fixed and still soulless, but anw u explained the part that u couldn t make shots from long range

Ramgamer I've nothing to hide . ..I'm just an ordinary punter here .. . .The AI and the users shots aren't as powerful accurate or as frequent on 0 speed in my opinion ok . .. play it yourself and see.

I have been playing for over 2 decades (fuck I hate when people do this) and think you being full of shit and bit of a bully. Please stop.

You see, I can be optimistic while I can address the problems.

So true. Some people here think that being optimistic means being biased.

I think being optimistic means "i enjoy the game" but there are some issues they should fix to make it better.

I'm optimistic about the game, but i already tweeted Adam about the lack of CPU aggressiveness and even sent him a video that he acknowledged. Talked with him on twitter about fouls and how few they were even in beta. Even Adam himself yesterday on twitter said that he thinks fouls are an issue

https://twitter.com/Adam_Bhatti/status/903011092108120064

but you know he has no power on development. The best he can do is report to the team.

I wish people would be more mature: if you feel frustrating seeing the same issues year after year and you think you are done with the game there is no need stressing the same argument over and over.

So you've spent weeks slating people for their hyperbolic comments whilst demanding proof, then come out with this gem.

Amazing.

Please put me on your ignore list. I will be doing similar regards yourself after this post. Both your posts this morning have been about me and while immensely flattering, comments from others which have followed suggest it is getting a little tiresome and boring. Yes, just like me, whatever and so on etc..

Only posting this publicly so as if you do either quote me or post about me others will see that you really would be wasting your time.
