PES 2018 PlayStation & Xbox Discussion Thread

I can't believe that after the fabulous beta the game become this :(

I tryed to play again ... souless matches.... I just uninstalled the demo and wait for the final game make a miracle. (Yes I have a digital pre order; i made it just after the beta)

What a stupid godamn entitled bullshit post. Seriously fuck off with that shit. Telling people you ain't wasting time reading their hyperbole and going on a tangent while you do that all the fucking time. The fucking irony. I seriously can't take your bullshit anymore. If you really "care" about passing on criticism or complaints from hardcore pes players, then be ready for all kinds of posts. Don't give us this shit. I won't be even asking you to pass anything with that attitude. You sound worse than Asim. You go ahead and pass on all legit complaints and let them decide. You have no right to pick who's hardcore and who isn't. People are damn frustrated and they have every right to be so. Just because their frustrations don't resonate with your blindly positive hyperbole doesn't give you the right to dismiss nor ignore them. If you really want to be a good lad, be a good lad and take on all and let them decide. Tons of info here already especially the obvious ones like a lot of space, bad shooting, CPU ai one touch perfect counter passes no error, shit positioning et al.

Agreed 100%. Already he's dismissed so many people who are all making the same complaints whilst blowing smoke up the backsides of those that love the demo. I don't understand it.

Lol poor PES bruised and battered here atm.

I still haven't had a fucking chance to play it yet. Trying to concentrate on the blues progression in guitar class last night and remembering PES 2018 sitting on my console was hard work. I let out a loud sigh when our tutor said he wants to keep us a little later because we have alot to get though :D

I am concerned by what I read here but tbh I knew who would say what before the demo was released so no surprises there.

Another thing that needs to be considered is that the demo is notorious for inconsistency on a few areas
- difficulty: everything is easier on PES demos dribbling, shooting, passing, scissor kicks bicycle kicks are alot more prevalent and opposition defense are more forgiving...basically everything is easier
- graphics and animations : usually less polished than the final product
- keepers: usually pretty shit compared to the finished product

Anyway will leave my impressions as soon as I have had a dabble at it.

Does the CPU even use sliding tackles? The only difficult aspect so far in Superstar is the fact that CPU have 100% passing accuracy but other than that it's way to easy to go past any players since the CPU just ball watches instead of making tackles or closing me down. This is probably the most disappointing demo especially after the BETA(where I absolutely loved the passing and how different player stat and situation felt on passing). This demo was made to please the casual arcade Rocket League fans. Everything is so simplified and easier than the BETA.

Is there anything positive from the BETA to Demo other than all the negatives?

Kind of a confusion here but do i remember right that being said that the demo is prepared by another team for showcase? Thats why demos differ from the release game? But it was also being said that the demo is the final product? And also that demos had to be submitted weeks before their release? So is this code from July?

Im kinda confused by these infos but at least we can hope that the final game changes for the better. Tiny hope rope to hang on tho.

Played the demo for the first time tonight and was surprised at how much I enjoyed it after listening to all the naysayers. . .I had it on Superstar manual o speed . .the defenses were great and the keepers were solid pulling off some really good saves. .. .the pace of the game and the weight of the players felt great . . .I played ten matches and couldn't score one goal . .I came very close a lot of the time but the defense of some of the teams were excellent . .they read my moves well. . .the midfield's pressed me well anytime I received a pass . .there was no ping pong passing or charging back and forward much. .I didn't encounter many back heels or long range shots. . most matches ended 0-0 or 1-0 to the opposition who opened my defense up a couple of times with amazing moves . .. .I found that if I used advanced tactics i.e deep defense and false wingers that my team performed a bit better.

Playing as Argentina v Brazil felt great . .really good games. .. if only we were allowed tinker with the formations. .. as for the no fouls situation I got 2 or 3 each match but some blatant ones were ignored. . .the one thing that pissed me off a bit was when the cursor would pick the wrong player and ruin a good move. I'm looking forward to a Master League with Pes 2018.
it's simply fantastic!

i played 4 10min games on manual professional difficulty, cpu made perfect passing all 4 games, check this to see. Also my shots were on target 8-10 times. It wasn't this bad in 2017.

Ok so my initial impression about the ai having more errors when passing if you play manual seem to be wrong. Played more last night and no, still no wrong passes, interceptions etc sure, but not wrong passes. For myself that's fine since I'm a manual online player but I feel for you guys playing ML etc.

Yeah remember that. It's so confusing.

The PA1 being so assisted bothers the hell out of me, it was fine for the Beta. What changed? They said they wouldn't listen to stuff regarding gameplay for the Beta but worst case scenario the listened to kids saying passing were hard or something. I really felt PA 1 being balanced in the Beta (it could have been more free but it was a huge step up from 2017) but this is back to PES 2017.

Also, I wish so much this company could explain why they do things like this. I play NHL as well and when they put out a patch or a tuner it ALWAYS says things like; "reduced passing success rate, "Increase save success on blocking saves." etc. Would leave out so much frustration that...

i'm happy you cleared that up because i got same perfect AI passing on manual professional difficulty.

This was gonna be my exact next question.

Honestly, no troll or nothing. What has improved from the Beta? What is one single item that has improved since the Beta because I honestly can't think of anything. They said shooting, havent noticed any difference, they said cursor selection and pass selection, also haven't noticed a difference. This should be at least a bit of a red flag

Yeah, I got happy at first seeing the AI:s passing being intercepted more than I remember from 2017. And that's good of course but after a while you notice that there are NO wrong passes, ever. Also, the constant 50- yard crossing to the flanks, always perfect, by the AI is just ridiculous.

Sorry bit as it stands I'm sure multi player especially with mates at home will be superb but the AI is so off defensively it just ruins it..on superstar you can walk down the wings and they just back off it's a shambles

I don't know if what you experienced happens with Superstar (as I play at the level just below it, I don't remember how it's called in English as I play in Italian)... But at the level I play with, I see misplaced passes (especially through balls, this has to be said: "normal" passes are more accurate).
Would you say "yes but it doesn't happen often enough"? Probably you're right, I dare say. I'd love to see even more misplaced passes.
Yet, does it happen more often than it happened in PES 2017 at the same difficulty level? Surely. And that's a step forward for me.

Also, bear in mind that it's Barcelona, Borussia Dortmund, Liverpool we're talking about.
I'm curious to try a match against Cunturipa or Cateravai and see if pass error varies accordingly (I hope so).

I played Top Player as well, I agree that there were some misplaced through balls but (I played Inter (me) vs Colo Colo) but that's always in the final third and it HAS to be like that. Otherwise you couldn't stop the AI ever. What I mean is that I couldn't see any wrong passes in the middle of the pitch or on the sidelines (not talking about interceptions etc mind you) which means play in the middle of the park (duels etc) is almost non existing, the AI just pass through it at will.

And this, of course, will be horrible for people wanting to play some sort of realistic football online. As I said, I'm fine being a manual player but I was exited to try out MyClub but since you can't filter passing there it won't happen this year either. Sticking with Online divisions.

hello guys. I don't post a lot but here is my opinion about the demo. as a 31 years old who grew up with pes I can clearly say that pes has lost it's soul. I will skip bollocks talking about pes 4,5,6 becouse I played these games during my childhood and I can't play thrm today becouse they are boring for me to play them now. Pes has always been the game if you want great gameplay and use strenghts of the teams and players but this isn't the case today. Clearly Konami is more oriented about player faces and trying to satisfy kids bringing club licences instead of that game is suffering in it's core. I remember in the old days using Recoba if you want to have classic number 10 to dribble, great passer with good accuracy but player who cannot win battles with players like Stam, Maldini etc. You want a good striker with great shot and player who needs little space to fire a rocket, play with Batistuta. This is just example how every team and player had own strenghts and weaknesses. What I played today is a joke of a game if I compare with these games. What I see is weird animations when player recieves ball, strange ball physics while passes, no error during first touch of the ball. Every team can execute counter attack like in Barca golden days with one touch passes and then something stupid shot animation what don't even represents power of the shot animation. What is the point of football game that can't make goal satisfying, doesn't matter if it's long shot or one on one with the gk. Trying to make good cross, no problem rocket will be fired and then player uses his head and suddenly ball moves slowly in companion with slow gk animation. Konami please... :( Pes 2014 was light in the tunnel for making good simulation with core of the game mechanics right except bad shooting but there is a lot pottential. Today saddly most important thing is player faces :( Konami that's it, year after year same old dissapointment... Playing fifa is like choosing better worst game but in fifa Messi can't win air balls against Boateng but in pes maybe 70% of them and other similar weird things. Sorry for a long post but I expect more from this years game. Very dissapointed...
I feel the same way u feel bro, and yes its lost its soul as u said

Fouling hasn't been an issue for me on 17,fewer on 18 so far,but it's a demo!
But hopefully, and compared to the demo of 17 and the finished product, the final product were more, much more aggressive=more fouls.
Penalties on 16-17,horrible and non existing.
Like I said, hopefully fouls will be like 17 or better
I play 20 min games btw on 17,10 on 18 demo
What makes u think its gonna be any different upon release date, these issues are fondamental inside the game engine with how the game is designed they are gonna change anything, all the flaws or most of 2017 flaws are still here

Now THIS is a problem.
To be fair, though, I saw it happening more against Inter than against Borussia Dortmund so I still believe it's a thing that can be altered (if not completely fixed) with tactics.

This is an interesting thing I didn't notice. I'll try and notice where those passes happen (as if they only happen in the final third you have a point: the CPU passing the ball at the back with pinpoint accuracy, maybe when they're 1-0 up, could become a problem).

Thi
I usually use basic shooting. That's the way I've played PES since ISS on PS1 in 97. What I don't get is that the shooting for so many years on less powerful hardware felt awesome.... yet here we are in 2017 and the shooting feels like it's been ripped straight from Virtua Striker.... the difference is that game is an Arcade game by definition.... PES for me has never been a full on Arcade game.
This is the thing that is ruining everythinf for me, my feel for the game, the replay ability, everything, mind u in pes 5 i barely scored from outside the box because simply the shots were so varied that i had to make sure i score the goal from a header or inside the box, the shooting has no feedback whatsoever

In all what you said, u never mentioned anything about shooting aspect which is kinda misleading

Yep, I'm gonna try more tonight as well! :)

I had a session last night playing on full manual on professional (as opposed to default settings on Superstar), and enjoyed the game a lot more. I might be imagining things, but it seems like the opponent's passing and shooting become equally "fragile" when you've got your own pass assistance set to 0. It might be the difficulty level, but overall the matches I had yesterday just felt a lot more well paced and balanced. Shots are still overpowered, but at least they're a bit more interesting when shooting is manual. Really enjoyed it, and scored some cracking team goals with Barcelona.

Misleading in what way and to who? He was just offering up his own general take on a free demo. He's not running for office.

For all the praise older PES' get, and for all that the conversation that could be had from both sides of the fence regards shooting, I think people forget that in PES 6 the distance shooting was so OP to the point you could score a winning goal with Adriano from the main menu.

I am not talking about how the shooting is but its the feel of the shot, the feedback, there is no feedback there is no feeling as before, we need that weight of the shot back
