PES 2018 BETA Discussion Thread

one request for Konami for online games. Can they go back to how it used to be where you select your team after you're paired up with your opponent? I hate it when I pick Juve for example and they come in using Brazil. I'd like the option of changing to another national team for example. Doesn't this bother anyone else? When you play friendly lobbies you can select your team at the same time as your opponent, ranked should be the same.
 
I'm reminded why I don't play as much online when I'm playing now. I just played a guy who only shot the ball out of play when he got it, and did his best to get red cards fouling my players. That's what he did. And I couldn't quit the bloody match without quitting the game. Fucking idiot.

Ah, yes, I've had a few of those guys myself already too. Bloody annoying. They get a few goals in the sack and get butthurt, start to foul for a bit, get a bit desperate, then quit. Happened like three times already, and I've played like 12 matches total.

Lovely goal, by the way! What a shot. :D
 
Completely off topic but here I am out in Spain enjoying the sun sea and sangria and completely unable to participate in the online beta (other than a few games on the very first day).

Reading the comments isn't any help either.
My wife says i should let it go.....but what does she know :P.

One of the gripes I'm finding with the beta is players who quit and ends the game, like after i scored that goal, they backed out and game ended, it just kills it a bit for me.

This is the problem with shooting imo, I've seen this exact goal 30 times already, just from different field positions. Coutinho doesn't hit straight, linear cannon balls like that. There has to be some more varied physics or scoring that goal might be fun the first time but it won't be fun after a few weeks.

Yes, it almost looks as if the ball goes faster instead of slower coming mid-air. It should dip a lot more and in this case maybe even hit the ground a few metres before the goal. Adam already confirmed there will be more trajectories and playing with lesser team will also help but i wont get my hopes up for low driven range shots.
 
After a lot more time with the beta I find theres some ghosting going on with the dribbling, at times you or the opponent will dribble through a player that clearly tackled i guess it would make sense if the ball deflected or scuffed past you but it seems to just run through the defending player. Shooting as everyone has said already is too simple it rarely dips or curves just arrow straight shots a lot of the time (I do like the new outside of the foot shot animation tho looks great)

Other than that its mostly positive I managed to get matched up with my mate a few times 1v1 we had some really good close games he is a FIFA player but said to me he will likely be buying this years PES too he liked how the servers seem better and the pace of the game especially
 
Lmao you guys are nit picking everything haha. You will be sadly disappointed if you think they will fix these hairline problems. There was a point in time scoring screamers was impossible and very hard and people complained. You have to draw a line somewhere in the middle. Konami will never give you 100% of the pie rather 90%. Its up to you to accept this or not purchase a product.

i truly think the physics are there it's just shoots are overpowered. Shooting power and accuracy needs to be turned down 10 points across the board. Then you'll see some dip and misses more than 5 feet off target.

You might be right, I hope not because that means it is a more complicated problem to solve, reducing shot power could have negative side effects. I have seen a few really nice bouncing shots but it is rare.
 
khalas, i am done with this beta and this game i will not buy this, ur through on goal with no one near u suddenly something has to happen, either the shot is too slow, or the defender gets his 3 meter leg to cut the ball, its not realistic at all. i d better stick with fifa and play a much more stable game when it comes to build up, as in what i see in pes 2018 is passes being always intercepted by a maniac runner into the path of the ball something which is totally unrealistic and never happens in real football, some other mechanism shoild be introduced to the game, plus add to that the scripted end to end football its just kick and rush this game there is no purpose of build up, u simply have to score at any cost because u might end up with 20 shots on target and the other player gets one shot and 1 silly looking goal against u, thats it im done
Habibi, wait for the demo at least. Unless you're an online only player of course.
 
thats the problem if they go back too far the other way I think it was one of the PES games from 2011-13 where the shots just floated and had no weight to them it just need to be toned down a bit i agree

its not a game breaker for this year but i would love for them to make shooting their main priority for 2019

i agree, it's probably there weakest part. Definitely should be top of the list (not net physics) for 2019.

He wouldn't be shooting from that position either. So do you blame the game developers or the person controlling him??

We don't know how long these games are or what difficulty setting do we? I'd like to play 15 minute games and assess the difficulty settings with offline play.

Have you tried powering up less? I have noticed in the pre-game loading screen a message about the shoot button controlling height of the shot, not power (which is how I've always remembered it). I think the player and ball positioning will control power more than height and if you hold down shoot for less time you'll see lower shots but not necessarily less powerful shots. On basic shooting anyway.

I have played a few games where basically Griezmann has intercepted passes from being able to run faster than the speed of the ball moving and non stop for a few seconds until he wins it. Coupled with the lag/slight response delay, I couldn't even block the laneway to goal but I could see where he was going to end up. His speed/ball winning ability is overpowered compared to anyone else on the demo.
 
As a sidenote, the visuals during gameplay are definitely sharper on Xbox One than I've ever seen and are a non-issue for me unlike previous versions.
 
I still need to see it. Can someone post a video of the maniac runner? In a completely natural scenario?

I'm not saying it/he isn't there, just that I would like to see footage of a clear example of the "maniac runner"
 
The long-range manual goals I've scored (which are mounting up now) feel a bit cheap anyway, but when you see the replays, I find the goalkeepers are floating in mid-air when they dive, which makes them feel even cheaper.
It's not like they're really floating, it's like... I do't know how to explain it, at times I feel like there's an invisible wall that "stops" the keeper from progressing further in his dive (and it's in those cases that I have the feeling that the keeper "floats" a little before landing with a shorter trajectory that the one one would expect).

Anyway, the keepers behaving this way and the shots being at times too hard are little niggles taht do indeed take away some of the enjoyment from a long range goal but I'll suspend my judgement over the gameplay until he demo, as this beta had another focus.
The judgement I would give to this beta in terms of gameplay is, anyway, positive from what I could see till now. Hopefully the demo would improve it even further.

About online I must say that the infrastructure seems pretty good this year (little to no lag, no strange disconnects at least for now), but I had some difficulties finding a PA 0 opponent for 1 on 1 matches and this is having a huge role in me thinking that it'll be another offline year for me.
Not that I don't like playing with PA 1 opponents, it's like that I constantly feel like I am the underdog and I don't like that feeling. It's good to feel like that once in a while, but not every single match.
About the 3 vs. 3, I also suspend any judgement until I can team up with some friends: random strangers found online are too risky, you will most likely end up with the "I can dribble, look, I can dribble, I don't need teammates 'cause I can dribble" guy and he will single-handedly insta-spoil all the fun from the match.

Well, I come from PES 2015 if you are talking about Xbox One gaming (indeed it's the only game, along with FIFA 14, that I own for both Xbox One and PC) so... This is a massive leap forward in terms of visuals: I believe that PES 2015 on Xbox One wasn't even in FullHD... Too blurry and blocky to be.

Well the thing with the quitters is not the fault of the beta.
We´re having that since we can play online.

I just don´t get why people wanting to win here at all costs...there isn´t even a rating system in.

Oh I absolutely agree, I was just responding to a comment about the beta goalkeepers (Adam has said a few times that they're improved in the current code anyway).
 
Well I just found a pretty good way to defend. Select the keeper, hold [] :BOP:


I did leak a few balls, not a lot. Not a big deal anyway, would have leaked as many with actual active defending anyway. And considering the amount of effort I put into it (well, close to 0 effort almost), I'm happy with the success rate.

For my first goal, I actually won the ball back on the edge of opponent 6 yard box, while controlling the keeper and [] pressure lol. Can't be less involved than that.

P.S. I'm joking guys, I'm just testing things, not planning to play like this all year. Alarming tho, how effective it is
