PES 2017 PlayStation & Xbox Discussion Thread

Genuine non-snarky question for the online players: why do you seem to imagine every year that things are going to be different? Online football gaming is terrible and always has been. Okay, so you've had some great games against people who play properly. But those games are, what, 1% of the whole? 5%? Whatever the figure, the rate of return is so low as to make it a worthless endeavour. Online football gaming is a complete waste of time. The dullest offline game against the most plodding, predictable AI is still better than almost any online game against the usual sort of customer you're likely to meet.

They dont need to be different, they just have to be done the right way using brain. EA does this, Konami doesnt. FIFA on manual controls is a pretty good online gaming experience. Yes, there is nonstop pressure, but the rest is just fine. You can choose equal team strenght, manual is really hard to master and rewarding, connection is great. When you concede a goal, its not because your opponent has a lot stronger team or because your player didnt react to what you pressed because of bad connection and responsiveness.

On the other hand, look at Konami. You cant even force both players to be full manual (whats the point of manual passing with auto shooting? LOL). Sure, you can use manual shooting, but if your opponent doesnt, you have big disadvantage and vice versa. You cant even choose (talking about Divisions now, which is supposed to be the most played mode online) equal team strenght, so if you like to play with 3* team, you are literally fucked, because you will be paired against Real Madrid, Barcelona 90% of the time. That is frustrating, unfair and game breaking (in negative sense). Especially when the controls are a lot less responsive online than offline (we are in year 2016 ffs, Konami, why cant you finally do it right?). Somehow Konamis manual controls are easier to learn than EAs, so its not as rewarding.

PES 2017 is a great game, probably the best soccer game ever, but this applies to offline. 9,5/10. But online its other story, barely a 6/10, really disappointing. The stupidiest thing about it is that its just so easy to fix things I mentioned and make it a lot better experience.

I will wait for yours will it include tactics etc like I said if u need help let me know

Took a couple of days break from PES trying to explore the other game demo. Looks great and all but this really made me appreciate how good of a game PES is. I don't know what it is about PES but I just prefer their approach to the game

Ok, its been about 3 weeks now since release, im playing the PC version more since the PS4 version is the same and importing everything takes ages.

Serie A tactics done, i'm on game 9 using Bologna

I'm in love.

Every match has been just wow. Its just gets better and better. I need to upload some of the highlights i've done after some of the matches especially ths last one vs Sampdoria! They were aggressive, uncompromising, relentless in their attack, fouled me no less than 6 times with multiple cards handed out.

Despite being massively outplayed and drenched, that early goal from Floccari who had to start since Destro has lost all his confidence since hes not scored at all earned me the point in what looks like will be a hard relegation battle.

Please share it Klash whenever u can!

Quick tip to overcome scripting against the CPU. If you're in Master League, without doubt you will get these games. I've played this game long enough now and I find the CPU will do either one of three things. These games normally happen against teams around you in the league, for example 1st vs 2nd, or teams in form.

It will either...

1) Play out of its skin on the ball and off it, not true to the difficulty you are playing on. They will go on rampage, pulling your team all over the place and creating chances at will. Off the ball they will close you down and intercept almost every forward pass you make.

Or

2) Your shooting will be "off" a lot of shots you would usually score from will be unusually weak and retardedly off target. If they are on target they will be straight at the keeper.

Or

3) CPU goalkeeper will become unrealistically unbeatable.

I've just experienced the latter against Norwich in Master League. It was so obvious, I had over 20 shots on goal to their 1 shot all match. Chance after chance after chance. Power shots, precision shots, headers. You name it I tried it. Outside the box, inside the box, chances from corners, shots from 6 yards out. Ruddy made 15 saves in total, a lot of the shots were certified goals in an unscripted game. No way was I going to score even If I had 200 shots in the match. Norwich are 1st in the league, I'm 2nd, 3 games into the season.

Unfortunately you WILL get these games. There is no avoiding them. Because they are so blatantly scripted/rubberbanded the best thing to do is overwrite your save before each match you play and if you do get one of these games, leave ML and play that game again until you get a balanced game.

I just done that and 5 mins in to the rematch, the first shot at goal I scored. 2-0 up before halftime. What a load of bollocks. Won the same match 3-0.

So after using Basic Shooting both Wednesday and Thursday last week I moved back to using Advanced Shooting both Friday and Saturday.

I simply can't go back to basic. Manual is cool but rather it be an on-the-fly option for me. When I use Advanced and am now starting to feel I am getting much, much better at it I just feel like I am seeing some wonderful shot/goal variety. Also, and maybe it is because I am a glutton for punishment, the additional composure required just makes my matches in ML a bit more dramatic.

In my ML Castledine has started the new season in scintillating form. I had him learn Creative Playmaker the season before, but a mixture of his stats balance, his stats improving and his physique have turned him into a Greek Shunsuke Nakamura with that wonderful left foot of his. Probably the biggest character in my team when it comes to playing style and individuality.

I absolutely adore this game at the moment. It genuinely does feel like the best football game ever more often than not when I play it.

I just hope that in future, ML difficulty/competitiveness can be the default difficulty when considering Exhibition/Versus/Other Comps and maybe having ML even more challenging on top of that. I honestly believe this game plays an entirely different game of football in ML and it isn't a scripting thing. I would certainly try to present the ML intensity of play in a demo.

What do you mean? . .. . play it again until the score suits you? . .. .Do you not think that's as bad as the A.I cheating? .. .I take the result as it comes, otherwise you will end up justifying changing any result that doesn't go your way. . . . the whole thing is scripted anyway. Still enjoyable though.

Nope reset until you get a more balanced game. It will produce a truer result compared to the scripted/rubberbanded game whether you win, lose or draw.

Fair enough. .. but I found from past experience that you will get the opposite result.

Best post I have read in a long long time.

The team need to STOP fucking about with promoting and start fixing small things that detract from the experience

Online, as in significant as we see it here is the money spinner and imo the series future.

The more I play it the more I feel the series is doomed. Online is literally a laughing stock.

Actually going to start saving every penalty I get awarded, because I do think there is a method to trying to get them. Getting a defender in isolation seems to be a good launching point, with a well-timed skill move, or just a change of pace or change of/intended change of direction being key.

Loved this from last night. I had just gone 1-0 down in the season opener (my second season in Serie B after finishing 21st in my first! Loved every minute of it though) and Mattiello, my left-back (look at how far forward he is from just after kick-off - that is Offensive Full-Back combined with Hug the Touchline and Wing Rotation in action), gets Almici in isolation. Well timed dribble movements and attempted change of pace sees the Ascoli man clatter Mattiello. Clear pen. And given. Cool looking foul I thought, and once again I'll say penalty kicks in replays look pretty damn sweet, especially when it is hero Castledine taking care of business. The post-processing they use in replays does produce some moments where it just looks so real...

Honestly. This game, man...

Sorry to hear that. Join a manualleague man. It won't guarantee games where pressure won't be used (I hate it too), but in terms of control settings, it'll be enforced at least. Team strength, it depends on which league. Some of the leagues just randomly assign you a team. Some other leagues allow you to build a team with a budget. I don't play random friendlies or division games with people I don't know. I'd say 50% of my league games are with people who are too aggressive (not enjoyable). 30% exciting open ended games. 20% brain picking tactical and careful deadlocks.

can anyone confirm that bayern munich have overpowered physical prowess in this game that is unmatched by any team in this game, every air ball ends up with a bayern player, either playing with real madrid or barcelona, barcelona are too underpowered physically in this game they underpowered them way too much in the physical department.

You're 100% correct. But will Adam Bhatti and his new sidekick Asim accept this? No chance. "PES is back to its best!" every year according to those raging fanboys.

I love PES 2017, it's silk. But the series needs professionalism and balanced views, something Bhatti will never give them.

Just spent about 2 hours importing Cristiano92's OF and got all the way down the list to the Portuguese league and 3 teams in for error messages saying coul'd not important any more logos.

This was on a clean save with no crashes and saving after each batch so I've no idea so why

Absolutely fucking me right off this is. I just want to play ML but don't want to without all the teams and kits ready.

Try not to get too frustrated mate when you've eventually done it, it will transform your game. Its a bit of a ball ache but well worth it in the end. If you run out of image space there are workarounds.
