PES 2017 PlayStation & Xbox Discussion Thread

same for the att/def level

Convinced someone to have a couple of games on it earlier. Someone that played Pro Evo in its heyday, but played FIFA for many years now. His immediate thoughts were that the game was really responsive to control again and its really good. Reminds him of those great games on PS2 again.

I noticed playing this game, it takes one game, two games maximum, to fall for it and realize what its all about. You connect with it virtually straight away.

Watching him play, right away he was thinking more about what to do with the ball and how to create chances. Even playing longballs and trying to hold it up. His playstyle and way of thinking dramatically changed from his mindset when playing FIFA. You cant just expose flaws and abuse phases of play. You have to really think about how to play and slow right down. FIFA being very end to end in comparison.

thinking the exact opposite

If you want to play properly with mates offline, you will have to create subaccounts for children for each one with your main account and allow user specific data.
Once the sub account is registered and verified (email adress necessary) you can create A new PSN account using the same email adress.
AND the sub accounts have to be logged in PSN, otherwise the error occurs again ;)

Multiplayer issue:

I fixed the multiplayer issue by using the second account and started the game....the error media message will appear, and i just go in to the editor and create a saved data. Go out of the game, start it up by using your normal account where u got the option file. Even with both controllers on the error message wont appear as the game feels both accounts got saved data, but as u start the game with the option file data, thats the one that will be used

Me and my lad played yesterday and the option file wouldn't work with guest controller in a 1v1 game. So I had to re-start game and get to match screen. When the controller screen came up we turned 2nd one on and it was fine from there.

Cheers. This is definitely one of those classic KONAMI 'features'. It's madness.

I just had the most scripted match I ever played on ML. AI won 3-2, I had 21 shots 14 on target, while the AI had only 3 chances, and guess what!? those chances were just the goals they scored plus they did that with a red card on their team :BRICK:. WTF. I hope it doesn't happen again, I don't mind losing but when these ridiculous things happen it just pisses me off.

Well in my years of playing FIFA it takes all but 10 minutes to realize what the game is favored towards and what is most effective and rewarded. It still seems that pace, over the top ball, mcgeady turn inside and finesse shot is still the order of the day. How realistic?

That gets very boring very quickly. Especially in competetive matches. You only have to watch FIFA youtubers. They all play virtually the same way, because that sort of play is most effective, so it gets bled dry. Pace, pace, pace, skill move, skill move, skill move. Goal. Rinse. Repeat.

Once the OP phases of play are discovered, thats all the game becomes.

I have to say there is a lot more variety in Pro Evo interms of attacking play. Yet years ago there was bulletproof exploits in PES also. Running down the wing, cut in on stronger foot, shoot, or get to the byline and cutback pass. But unlike FIFA. PES actually done something to rectify it.

I've played it for about a week now and I can honestly say so far there is not one single phase of play that I can abuse that works 9 times out of 10. You tend to think about what you're doing or going to do with the ball a lot more playing PES than you do on FIFA. Well thats how it is for me anyway. In fact this years Pro Evo forces you into thinking smarter on the ball.

I have a feeling you will be able to play FIFA 17 just like you could on 16, exploiting its OP phases of play and you will get the same results.

fifa's the complete opposite of real football.
football = defense has edge
fifa = offense has edge

I wish they could patch the camera settings. I found a setting I like but the biggest issue is that the camera should be facing more of the attacking part of the pitch. Kinda hard to explain but let's say I've got the ball on the halfway line, I can see a lot of the pitch behind me (going back to my defence) and not much going forward. The guy on the ball isn't centered on screen. It's like you're always passing blind and then relying on the passing assistance to hit a man. So frustrating because I like the height and zoom settings!

It's because the camera doesn't pan to the opponent's half quick enough.

wish they would make the line adjustment only one press of the d-pad instead of two.
i find it to time consuming controling my left stick while trying to adjust my line.
every second matters in keeping the ball or not.

Very much agree with this. There's no way to double tap up on the d pad without losing momentum with whatever it is you're doing with the controller stick.

What ever happened with the pes fans editing all the generic faces for konami? Did that happen? Doesnt look like they added peoples work to me

A couple of things;
- Night games almost seem like a different game all together, amazing how poor lighting makes everything looks flat and boring. If u get a rain night game then it feels like a PS1 game
- I honestly think a 2d crowd (well done and in HD) would really make the stadia look alive, these 3d models always look very fake. In tennis elbow you can apply a patch with real life spectator pictures and it definitely looks almost real, not sure why they insist on these 3d models that need a lot of processing and looks real bad
-The real magic in this game is the off the ball moves, player individuality is really amazing there, i have been playing juve and i am amazed how good off the balls moves are from the likes of higuain, alves, cuadrado. Higuan is a killer in the box, always managed to find the right space, alves appears out of nowhere all alone in the right wing...Wonderful job there. Also i love the attacking options about fullbacks and wingers.
- The wow and random factor is there in every game.
-Gotta love goalis this year, there is that real life feeling to it, mistakes included

If only they managed to put a few more stadia....i think this is a keeper, like pes5 and 6 before. Long wait but it finally came back.

well i just bumped up the level from regular to professional because i felt the cpu wasn't creative enough and standing doing nothing at times. Man it's a real challenge now smart attack by cpu and harder to hold the ball with there extreme pressing.

playing full manual on broadcast camera isn't easy man....:OH:

Just too bad that team mate pressing and generally stressing the opposition when they're on the ball will disposess them too easily too often on professional. I've found professional to be quite enjoyable on full manual, but for this. You can also do it on top player, but not quite as often. Really something that should be ironed out with a patch.

Anyone doing Versus mode against the CPU, it's lovely the stats are amazing and i get the suspicion that it's adjusting to how I play, more and more each game, amazing really.

You really do see all kinds of goal, did a random versus match I was Man City vs Belgrano. They took the lead with a counter attack, I equalized with a great half volley off a free kick from near the corner flag. De Bruyne swung it in medium hight, it flashed across the entire box. just hit the ground at the far post, Nolito snatched it it bounce ounce and it was mashed into the net. I had never scored a volley from a free kick before, was special :-)

Yeah that's part of it. But also if you're just standing there having received the ball, it shows you too much of the pitch behind you even if you're facing forwards. it waits til you have passed forwards then moves. I can put up with the camera not catching up with rocket shots hitting the back of the net...but not being able to see where you're passing on a given camera...not so good.

Game is great, no doubt.
There´s another little thing that annoys me.
When I send a player with L1 + right stick, the player starts to run, but often after a few steps he jogs so slowly and doesn´t even try reaching forward.

I hope they´ll sort this out soon

I love this game when it is day time and the right stadium. If I could, I would play every game at day time and in a handful stadiums. It wouldn't be realistic, but it would be more enjoyable. Night games in certain stadiums just seem to suck all of the enjoyment out of it. I have played about 20 games over the weekend, all in versus mode and during the day and loved it, but I know once I start my master league, the graphics and feel of the game will change for each game.

I am going to see which league gives the most day time kicks and play in that league and then assign each club in that league the stadiums with the best pitches

Agreed. I also find that most camera settings won't show you enough of the bottom part of the pitch if you're on the top half of it, so say you're attacking towards the left, you won't spot your left winger (if you're on the right or even on the middle of the pitch), unless you check the little map thingie. Would love it if someone made a camera tool. :)

Maybe that guy Adam can do something about it, it has been like that ever since pes 2008 tbh. Night games make the game dull and flat, some CL are ok because the visuals are crispier in CL games. I just started a new serie A ML, so far i 5 games 4 night one and 2 with rain....pretty bad. Maybe if we choose a second tier team we'll get more day games.
DUnno, we badly need a selector.

yeah

yeah professional would be perfect if they can fix that in the next patch

Yes! I get this too, but it's in the previous PES too so I don't think it's something that they'll "sort out".

It almost seems like it's on purpose, but it makes no sense - you select the player to make a run, he gets the icon above his head, and then he just starts... Walking...

Let's have a list with stadiums that look good and bad at night and day settings!
Any suggestions?!

I just logged in my Spotify free account on PlayStation. It's gonna be so much better, soundtrack wise, when i start playing ML soon.
Why didn't I do that before?! I really like the latest PS4 Firmware update with the new overlay menu!
btw: set up a nice background pic in your profile! Looks good.

I've not really had to use it all that much but sometimes I've noticed this happening. Usually the player does just run though. I'm guessing there's something behind it - I know players just walk if they're knackered, but maybe there's something around a player's mentality too?

Another feature that should be a priority: masterleague coop on line. My old pals are all living in different places now, it would be nice to play together on line a masterleague.

manual or assisted runs
Assisted. How people control two players at once is beyond me...

I use it pretty often - I'll set the tactics up to keep everyone in position, but then use "player runs" to make it my choice that they take a risk - but occasionally, especially with runs down the middle, they'll just do a lethargic jog in a straight line.

Could be stat-related, could be that when there's more than one defender around the guy, the game just won't let you use it. No idea...

Thank God for "game sharing" on the PS4. Not the perfect answer, and only works with one other person, but even so.
