PES 2017 PlayStation & Xbox Discussion Thread

I've noticed in Master League that the CPU activates 'man marking' and 'hug the touchline' instructions at around the same point in every game (around 65/70 minutes).

This seems a bit strange to me. Initially I thought it was cool that the CPU would start man marking, but not if it is something that is done by default every game... thought Konami would be more switched on with something like that.

The form arrows still don't make any sense what so ever - they seem to be completely random. Harry Kane just scored a hat trick in a Champions League game, and the next game he's got a red downward pointing arrow (the worst one). What? Makes no sense.

Had just the same thing happening with ManUnited before a semi final CL match. A lot, like 6 key players, have red arrows! It's a first timer though.

Harry Kane scoring a hat trick in any competition outside the PL doesn't make sense...

Just too bad that team mate pressing and generally stressing the opposition when they're on the ball will disposess them too easily too often on professional. I've found professional to be quite enjoyable on full manual, but for this. You can also do it on top player, but not quite as often. Really something that should be ironed out with a patch.
i think they just need to make stamina drain if you press. this way you won't abuse it.

OMG.. IT FINALLY HAPPENED!!!! I FINALLY GOT A PENALTY FROM A CONTROLLED FAKE DIVE (ie. simultaneously pressing L1+L2+L3+R3). I was AC Milan losing 1-0 against BARI, and I was in the 92nd minute (final minute of time added on), I was in the box... controlling Suso... I got nudged by a defender (from body contact), and as im leaning I instinctly do the L1+L2+L3+R3. Whistle is blown, and like everytime before (particularly in pes16), I was expecting a yellow card.... but no.. I was awarded a penalty. First time ive ever seen this. Now the footage is poor, as I wasn't expecting it, and my phone camera wasn't ready, but if you look at the start of the following video you'll see the defender didn't slide takle, and I took a roll - aka fake dive. Unfortunately the same highlights weren't reapeated at the end game highlights, ie. they only show the penalty kick. Anyways here is the video:
And I immediately checked suso's stats.. he doesn't have a "malicious" skill card which I thought was the skill required to gain easy free kicks/penalties. Suso does however have "weaving" and another special dribbling attribute. This game is just amazing.. something new every time I play it.

Ok.. it happened again. This time my fw Cavanni, playing for inter in a ML on superstar. I was in the box.. got stumbled (off balance) and did the L1+L2+L3+R3 :) Got this on share, so you can see the fake dive in all its glory :) Penalty awarded.. penalty converted. I think what helps is the fact that the ref was quite a distance away, and Cavanni was behind the opposing defender (in terms of ref's view) so it was harder for the ref to see it properly.

Yes! I get this too, but it's in the previous PES too so I don't think it's something that they'll "sort out".

It almost seems like it's on purpose, but it makes no sense - you select the player to make a run, he gets the icon above his head, and then he just starts... Walking...

Oh ok...I haven´t played 2016 much enough to know.
The last when it really worked was on PES 2014 (don´t know about 2015), he would run up to the opponent keeper, everytime and no matter what.

manual or assisted runs

Assisted runs

Anyone doing Versus mode against the CPU, it's lovely the stats are amazing and i get the suspicion that it's adjusting to how I play, more and more each game, amazing really.

You really do see all kinds of goal, did a random versus match I was Man City vs Belgrano. They took the lead with a counter attack, I equalized with a great half volley off a free kick from near the corner flag. De Bruyne swung it in medium hight, it flashed across the entire box. just hit the ground at the far post, Nolito snatched it it bounce ounce and it was mashed into the net. I had never scored a volley from a free kick before, was special :-)

Tried it for first time the other day and enjoyed until I realised you can ONLY play 10 minute games ...

Konami at it again - putting restrictions on a game like it's the 90's and the developer must control all difficulty options and parameters of the game ... Why just why Konami ?

Why do they care if some saddo playing against the CPU somewhere in his house somewhere in the world wants to spank the CPU on easiest difficulty on 7 min games.

I don't care, you don't care ... It doesn't affect anyone else - so why do Konami care or get involved in the choices their customers want to make in an offline versus CPU mode.

... and breathe.

I love this game when it is day time and the right stadium. If I could, I would play every game at day time and in a handful stadiums. It wouldn't be realistic, but it would be more enjoyable. Night games in certain stadiums just seem to suck all of the enjoyment out of it. I have played about 20 games over the weekend, all in versus mode and during the day and loved it, but I know once I start my master league, the graphics and feel of the game will change for each game.

I am going to see which league gives the most day time kicks and play in that league and then assign each club in that league the stadiums with the best pitches

It's like you read my mind, I've preffered day matches in Football games since the dawn of time, to the point when I played FIFA career mode way back when, I would still opt to play European games in the daytime just because the night lighting was so ugly and overly dark pitch edges and stands full of fans sat in darkness etc.

PES 2017 night lighting seems to be about having the pitch split into 3 different lighting zones (both boxes and centre circle area) the effect is over done and in real games the pitch doesn't look bathed in different light/colour at each third of the pitch, not at most stadiums anyway.

The form arrows still don't make any sense what so ever - they seem to be completely random. Harry Kane just scored a hat trick in a Champions League game, and the next game he's got a red downward pointing arrow (the worst one). What? Makes no sense.

Harry Kane found his Girlfriend in bed with another man the night after he scored that hat-trick. (for the record - it wasn't John Terry)

He's been a wreck since that discovery and his heads totally gone but he's not told Pocchetino or anyone else so he is still in the team for the next game.

ok, how good is this game ?
my PS4 controller battery low warning came up, in the heat of a great game i forgot about it and ran out of juice........ thankfully during a free kick......:))

I played a lot of games with England last night after importing the nation teams kits and Harry Kane was easily my best forward and scored some cracking goals. Games where he was on any arrow pointing down were a lot harder for me to score

Does anybody know why the stadium editor was removed after 2013? That feature was so awesome as you could easily knock up some unique stadiums and not have to play 90% of matches in the Konami stadium.
I could even make a semi realistic version of The City Ground, except for the part where the Bridgford end dips in height.
It would be a great addition to have back in and would definitely help with the immersion as it is a good solution to the lack of stadium variety.
Did Konami get in trouble for having it in there or something as it was dropped after 2013 and never included again since.
I am almost certain it won't be patched in for this version even if it could be, but I would love it to be back for 2018 if possible.

As far as I remember, Adam Bhatti said it was to do with licensing issues?

I'm gutted about it as well, it was great adding a load of stadia to PES 2013, which was a fantastic game.

It never made it into the 'FOX Engine era' - maybe they don't have the time or resources to make it available as yet, one thing is for sure if we never moved to Fox engine, the stadium editor would have carried on with 2014 etc.

If Konami gave me 3 visual/graphical changes I would be over the moon ...

1. Stadium Creator/Editor
2. Turf Editor with texture and colour choices/saturation
3. Time of day selector before every game

.. I would be in gaming Nirvana or as near as dammit.

Can I just say one thing people seem to forget when each year we lose a licence of a team .... We also lose stadiums and choices.

This year ... Allianz, Old Trafford, Juventus Stadium, Stade de France ?

These stadiums are created and ready to be in the game but are now on the cutting room floor so to speak as Konami lost the teams who play in these stadiums - with a stadium creator we could perhaps break these down or alter them enough to not trigger any lawsuits but have Konami put them in the game as stripped down unlicensed Lego blocks for us to use to make a generic stadium.

Either way this is the way Konami need to go - having your resources and graphics artists creating a stadium and then not being able to use it AT ALL in the next game is wasteful of valuable time and resources - a solution is needed.

Yes I think I remember something about that now that you mention it.
You would think that they could add generic stands as options though and let us build something. Even being able to build some generic smaller grounds would be great as Burton don't exactly play in an equivalent of the Konami stadium IRL and it looks a bit odd.
I imagine we aren't allowed to re-create anything that looks like whatever stadiums are excluded due to the licensing issues. But then again, I don't see how that is any different to not being allowed to re-create the teams that are excluded & we've all been doing that for years. In fact they keep making the editing process a little better each year for that.

Annoys me too but didn't happen in previous PES I know vacate I used rhus feature alot. Need to really try out the manual option and see what it does.

It can be great sometimes, but most of the time it's just plain difficult.

As someone said, it's incredibly hard to think about controlling two players at once.

well i just bumped up the level from regular to professional because i felt the cpu wasn't creative enough and standing doing nothing at times. Man it's a real challenge now smart attack by cpu and harder to hold the ball with there extreme pressing.

playing full manual on broadcast camera isn't easy man....:OH:

These are my exact settings full manual and broadcast camera and I am struggling but in a fun way. Can't play with any other cam any more. If they just allow for some cam customization it will be great

I am exactly the opposite. .I. have something against day games and just can't play it, feels a bit faster maybe. They should give us the option to choose the time we like. I just don't understand why the wouldn't do it.

So did I and it definitely happened to me!

There must be a reason for it.
Still had 0 penalties in about 75 games.
Yeah, same. I don't think there's scope for CPU misjudgement in any area - passes, shots, fouls. There's no "I thought I'd reach the ball but I took the man" fouls from the CPU, if you see what I mean - I only see fouls when I do a change of direction and the tackle it was making is suddenly from behind.

That's the game's biggest flaw, I think - it does everything like a robot and nothing like a human. (But I love it anyway.)

Well done, would be even better though if the commentary reflected that it was a dive

Just remembered something I've been meaning to ask for ages.

Does anyone else find it annoying that your "advanced tactics" are all turned on by default at the beginning of every game? Or is there some way around it?

I don't use those tactics until spotting certain patterns of play, so to start every game with them all turned on - including ones that clash, like "pack the box" and "high wing-backs" (or whatever they're called) - means I have to quickly turn them all off before kick-off.

Does anyone actually start with all their tactics switched on like that? (Genuine question! Just wondering if it's me who's the odd one out!)
