PES 2017 PlayStation & Xbox Discussion Thread

Still had 0 penalties in about 75 games.

Yeah I've only had the one pen so far in about as many games. Even that came in the 90th min to win the game. I don't think either game gets it right. FIFA theres far too many, especially if you enable handballs. Its almost comical then. On PES maybe not quite enough.

You know what though? I think with Pro Evo a lot of it is down to your reactions, if you can nudge the ball in another direction quickly before they make contact, I'll reckon you will start to win a lot more. I know you can efficiently win freekicks if your quick on the analog stick. I've won tons of freekicks with Firmino.

Just remembered something I've been meaning to ask for ages.

Does anyone else find it annoying that your "advanced tactics" are all turned on by default at the beginning of every game? Or is there some way around it?

I don't use those tactics until spotting certain patterns of play, so to start every game with them all turned on - including ones that clash, like "pack the box" and "high wing-backs" (or whatever they're called) - means I have to quickly turn them all off before kick-off.

Does anyone actually start with all their tactics switched on like that? (Genuine question! Just wondering if it's me who's the odd one out!)

Don't quote me on it but I'm sure I seen that you can disable them so they dont come on by default at start of games. Have a look in simple settings section. I could have sworn I seen it...

Another thing I noticed aswell that if you have more than 2 tactics selected they can conflict with one another and your team loses its way with and without the ball.

I've had 1 penalty in 6 games (CL group stage). You can't really compare with so little information. A comparison would have to be based on time spent in the box, what you were doing in the box, the number of opponents in the box at that time etc.

If the options were too many or too few penalties, we'd all choose the latter I think.

I don't know if it is possible in exhibition matches, but you can turn them off by default in ML.
If you go to your teams advanced instructions and choose none for all of them, then back out to the main ML menu & save your game, this should then be your default for each match.
You then have to go back into advanced instructions during the match and select which ones you want to use.
By default, I leave the attacking ones off until the match has started as I use different ones and like to choose them depending on my shape, approach, opposition etc.
I leave my defensive ones on though as I always use swarm the box & gegenpress so they are set to on by default.
When I start each match on ML, I have the 2 defensive blue indicators on and the would be red attacking ones are off as they should be.

I am not sure if you were meaning that, or if you meant can you pre-assign the attacking instructions and then have those default to off to turn them on during the match without having to pause the game? If you meant the second option, I don't know of a way currently to do that, sorry.

It might depend on difficulty setting, on highest difficulty it seems AI is so good at stealing the ball and tackling that you won't get many penalties.

PLayed 13 games i think all together (league and CL) on superstar, i didn't get 1 single penalty. I conceded a couple though, which i figure is pretty realistic considering i am very careful in the box.

Actually i might lower it a bit, sometimes AI goes into godlike mode and kills me. Last game i played, juventus-empoli, i went up 2-0 first 20 minutes with higuain dybala and missed an easy 3rd one...from that moment on CPU wents nuts, i ended up losing 7-2 at home lol... Think top player might be the most suited for me.

And i figure i enjoy the dry pitch setting, it seems the game slows down a bit and become pefect for my taste.

After almost 50 matches it's just me or shots out of the box (by the sides) are more frequent in basic shooting mode?

I don't know if they failed to calibrate the basic mode or to show off the new wobbling effect of the poles supporting the net when the ball hits them.

So did I and it definitely happened to me!

There must be a reason for it.

Yeah, same. I don't think there's scope for CPU misjudgement in any area - passes, shots, fouls. There's no "I thought I'd reach the ball but I took the man" fouls from the CPU, if you see what I mean - I only see fouls when I do a change of direction and the tackle it was making is suddenly from behind.

That's the game's biggest flaw, I think - it does everything like a robot and nothing like a human. (But I love it anyway.)
Firstly I apologise for the God awful autocorrect feature.

Secondly I can't agree with you at all here Chris. The AI is the most human it's been in years with shots, fouls and passing less so in passing on superstar level in the years that I have played this game. Admittedly there are still too few (read zero) penalties for me so far about 70odd games but that comes down to the poor ref calls imo. Surprised you see it otherwise.

You must have saved them Chris ..

A skill move in the box and when I have a defender in isolation (near the byline) have resulted in penalties for me. Can't say how many/frequency, but I have had them. Maybe not enough and am beginning to wonder if the logic actually is that if you want a penalty you need to "work" for it like the pros do and dive a fair bit.

A skill in the box is worth two in the bush.

I played a CL on Top Player as Arsenal and got one point in my 6 group games. I did have PSG in my group though..:BSCARF:

These are my exact settings full manual and broadcast camera and I am struggling but in a fun way. Can't play with any other cam any more. If they just allow for some cam customization it will be great
yeah, camera looses the ball sometimes, and the damn linesman blocks your view sometimes, but other than that it's great stuff i'd never go back to default camera..

Tais game is great but the netcode is still a mess. There is more lag than in Last year.

I have a 200/20 mbps network speed and still have laggy games. It does not happen in other games...

Haven't watched many games on the telly since I bought PES 17, but I'm watching Union vs St Pauli right now.
Must say that PES 17 represents proper football very well.
It's not supposed to be easy in the final 1/3
It's not suppose to be easy scoring on crosses.
It's not suppose to be easy to break down low sitting defences.
The pace and replication of football from this game is pretty stunning, think we'll forget that sometimes with petty little issues.

A high throughput connection does not decrease lag. 200 down, though - that's impressive. :WORSHIP:

Yes I Know that, i Just stated in the case someone would say its because of my connection.

A dedicated server approach is highly needed in PES.
