PES 2017 PlayStation & Xbox Discussion Thread

intrigued by the option file situation, as much as i think the guys that create them do a lot of hard work i'm not sure if i want to pay a tenner for one, i will have to see how difficult the free version will be to put together. saying that being able to pick and choose might be better than downloading stuff that I don't really want or need

Will be interested to see what PESWorld come up with and how it works, they have some stiff opposition with Klashmans tactics on the PESUniverse file though I have to say!

Also we need to know what will happen with created players and live updates and the like. the created bundesliga could become a mess if the live update wipes out certain changes... being particularly picky here but would have rathered the MLS to the Liga MX too :p

Who is charging for an option file? What do we get included with it?

No, it's gone.
Thats a shame, seems a bit pointless in a way having all the 3 South American leagues sorted with licences, if we dont have a Libertadores as well.
Hopefully there is a fake Libertadores in there at least to give the continent a bit of life.

Everything to be honest...

Also interested in advanced shooting mechanic. I am to hit the bar alot on manual.
My experience of advanced shooting in the past was that it would seem to wait ages before actually shooting, and it would hit the woodwork (or the target) far, far too often. If these aspects have changed then I'd be interested.

Yes 100% in previous PES's it was shit, they've made it much more like shooting in PES 2011. Which for me, was the best

I am loving Advanced Shooting! It’s exactly how shooting used to be on PES 2011 and thats my best.

Adv. Shooting on PES 14,15,16 were off. The physics, direction were all wrong. But in PES2017 the mechanics have gone back to the 2011 style. What a joy. takes skill and you can really score life like goals. love it.
Can you explain what you're doing to be successful at advance shooting? Shots just seem to blaze over the bar most of the time when I use it.

That only happens to me for headers from crosses. I don't think they're being cancelled, the player just isn't jumping. It seems to be where a defender is pushing into my striker's back, almost preventing him from jumping.

It's not got annoying yet, but (having not actually checked at the time) I do wonder if sometimes that's why my defenders haven't cleared a cross and I've conceded a goal.

Jeepers I hold PES 2011 shooting in high regard. Need to try advanced shooting more.

You can make training mode by assigning another controller lol.
You can even play against a team of 7 then (like in training mode), if you use the second controller to get some players off the field with double yellow! :) good idea.
Time is the issue here as I spent hours in training mode. Really, I used to take free kick after free kick for hours!
Not to long now...release is just around the corner.

Would I be right in thinking that these option file makes already have access to the full game in order to have these ready for launch? If so, it's pretty smart by Konami to overcome the lack of licensing, at least on the PS4 anyway.

is anyone experiencing the game canceling out your commands?
example : if you want to jump to win a ball you don't jump.

Yeh it's just your common or garden scripting. . have seen it when trying to run from your box with the ball when under siege. . .it looks like your player is drunk. . .. it happens with a lot of reaction situations.

either that or some sort of database/csv where they can input the required information in the correct format...

I followed your previous instructions Rocky and I agree. If you know where to push the stick it woks a treat with it feeling much more free than basic but less harsh than manual.

Thanks for your help

i think this is true, why do these developers think this is a good idea taking control from the player..
another thing is when the ball is going out of play, it's going to be your ball, but the AI tries to save it and doesn't, giving up your possession.. fucks you every time!

I hate 2016, and I love the 2017 demo. It plays a lot different. Sure, there are some "legacy" issues, but overall it plays like a much different game to me. If you turned it off right away, how can you be so quick to judge?
You see I disagree. It's very similar to PES 2016. The players still feel stiff and it's way too easy to score super automated laser guided rocket shots, again, like PES 2016.

These are some goals I just scored playing on Adv. Shooting.

Please note that if the keepers look rubbish. It’s cos I was playing on beginner to get enough chances to demonstrate.

just a little word about a few goals.

Goal 1: When the ball came across. I tried to hit it back keeper side holding up and left with Messi. it was a nice try, but brilliantly saved by the keeper. With Neymar I smashed it across the goal to the right, holding right and down on the analogue stick.

Goal 2: my fav one. my intention was to emphatically get this one in top corner near post, so I pushed shoot and held the Analogue down to the left. it was beautiful. The control of shooting on advanced is wonderful.

Goal 3: I had the keeper at my mercy. So I tried to fool him. Touch of R2 and up and left on the analogue to curl it in keeper side.

Goal 4: As I turned my intention was to curl it in top corner with pressing shoot then down left with R2. Didn't think it would work so amazingly.

Goal 5: I hit shoot, down and right and R2 before the ball even got to Suarez to pick my spot first time. I was aiming top corner. But it's also context sensitive.

I'm going to try the advanced shooting but the control scheme still seems weird to me. There must be a way to do advanced shooting contextually.

Stiff? The only times the players feel stiff (to the point it detracts from my enjoyment) is when they're caught in that obnoxious "stun" animation, but other than that, it's much improved over 2016. That was one of the big knocks against last year's title. Felt very sluggish. I don't have an issue with the shots as I play on manual, but for those who play online I can see this being potentially troublesome. Unfortunately you'll find that in both football titles.

Back to the stiffness, I'm really not seeing it. I posted this in the video thread, but Sane did exactly what I wanted him to do. This didn't feel sluggish to me at all.

I agree, it does not feel stiff/clunky to me! It is highly responsive and some of the animations are superb. I know there are some movements that are dated but I can overlook some problems given its just so much fun to play.

It’s holding up for shooting down and holding Down for shooting up. I even invert my look in FPS. So maybe it just suits me :-)
