PES 2016 News & Discussion Thread

Say what you will about PES 2016 - and God knows I have! - but the player I.D (animations) really is something to behold.

Pulling off insane volleys and ninja kicks and passes with Zlatan is some of the most fun I've ever had playing PES. Yes, yes, I've re-bought the game a couple of days ago since I sold it in late november.
I was too fixated on all the bad things - comp a.i shooting, high scores, defender gaps etc - to enjoy all the good aspects of the game. And it definitely has them, warts and all.

Pogba is also a player I.D beast.

I've intentionally declined downloading all the latest datapacks and such just so I can still play with the likes of Pirlo, Xavi etc because I love their signature playstyle so much hah. I don't believe they're in the game with the latest datapacks installed...

If you approach the game as a somewhat fast arcade game with realistic/simulation influences it becomes quite enjoyable.

You can make a base copy of Pirlo, Xavi etc. then you'll have them still ingame after DLC's. ;)

How the hell does something like that get programmed anway? I have zero programming/game developing skills, but is there some kind of fixed code that says the computer only performs low shots (although some times there are some high/middle shots, at least in the Xbox 360 version) ?
Or is it just the easiest way to score in the game?

I find it fascinating, because apart from the low shooting the computer attacking a.i is actually very impressive imo, very dynamic.

I think probably the AI is calculating the highest probability to score from the situation that they are in, which because of a lack in variation/error in shooting (probably due to a change in the physics system this year) is almost always low into the corner

..plus the slow motion keeper dives. : )

What should i say about the new dlc, i expected more national teams liscenses, not all tho BUT what is cool that teams like croatia (fakeplayer in default) will be liscensed.

totally agree. let's say PES team is small or busy, not able to build all 10
I don't understand how it's not possible to make at least 2 or 3 stadiums
let's say Parc des Princes or Velodrome are exclusive to FIFA
what about others : Bordeaux or Lyon (build for 2016)

let's hope for last minute changes (another DLC during May/June)
Agreed.

I mean at least one "new" stadium could have been done; it was obvious that they add again stade de France(from pes14). I guess pes team is small, doesnt have priority for konami (other projects more important)

what (again) is a disspointment is one more month with outdated rosters for offline.

but Tuni, you are way too optimistic about another dlc:D

There is still that element of surprise regarding players and stats and it manifests itself well in all the game modes.

Still not agreeing that PES doesn't have player individuality tb

some players have their own animations, have special skills wich means more unique animations wich some players dont have

but....is that enough if all the players shoot, pass, run, turn, defend more or less the same?

I'm glad they've updated the Wales and Croatia rosters, I was putting off editing them in anticipation of the pack and is paid off. I'm not bothered about some teams not getting the kits because we can add them ourselves and the rosters will be addressed which is also important.

But for fuck sake, this stadium saga just gets worse every game. I'm willing to bet San Siro would've probably been removed of it didn't happen to be the venue for the ucl final. (doubtful, but with Wembley and Estadio Da Luz being removed I wouldn't be surprised to see it omitted next year.)

The best part of these Tournament games is the fulfillment of getting a totally authentic experience of playing in all the correct stadiums at the exact date and time of the fixture, the stadia dress and trivia by the commentary and just capturing that whole festival of football feel that the summer tournaments embodies. That's how completely runied because we're expected to play every fixture in the Stade De bloody France.

The problem is if you buy this game...every year ..you just accept what they offer. Simple as that. No wonder how shooting and goalkeepers havent changed since 2014 in major ..yeah they got a few fancy save moves but still...even Adam stated Goalkeepers and shooting need no rebuilding from ground zero. THEY ARE FINE.

Well if this is PES for you...im happy you like it, dont get me wrong. I guess i had my time with PES for 7-8 years from 98-2006 so i should shut up, now its your time guys with this version of PES :D

But that's PES for you! Can't have PES without (fundamental) problems! We all learn to love it. For the glory moments.
The package should always improve as a whole, though. We shouldn't be in a situation where we say "well 2013 nailed tactical AI, 2014 nailed momentum, 2015 nailed shooting, 2016 nailed responsiveness - so choose your favourite bit", with none of those improvements making it through to the next game.

I've played those releases a lot over the past couple of months, and when I go back to 2016, I truly just think "what the fuck happened". I played it last night, as Liverpool v Crystal Palace, and Palace played absolutely nothing like themselves, even with edited tactics - primarily because they were passing in perfect triangles around all the defenders, real one-touch stuff. The difference between playing them and Barcelona is minimal (and the shirts are the same colours too), it's so wishy-washy in comparison to how pronounced team identity used to be.

For me, the "hard low shot" and "broken goalkeeper" bugs are the least of the game's problems (and the patches show Konami don't even regard them as bugs).

There's a guy on Twitter, glen_pesworld, who's a popular kitmaker, and the stuff he makes is brilliant. I've imported all of his PL kits and they make PES the best-looking football game out there, I truly mean that. He's a talented guy.

But he posts screenshots of his ML like "love this game", and you think "look at the scorelines, you can't be serious":

You've not lost a single game, you've scored at least 3 goals in 90% of the games, you scored 39 goals in 9 games, and you think it's great? REALLY? 39 goals in 9 games?! An average of 4.3 goals a game?! Including a 7-0 and a 10-1?!

But guys like Adam and Asim love the guy. I don't blame them, because his kits are fantastic, and he loves the game - perfect from an advertising standpoint - but for as long as those results are considered okay......

One of the best points I read about this game.
Exactly that it is!

They were talking about "built from scratch".
But from that point of view it looks like "built from scratch" has happened every year...

But then you come to the conclusion that they just don´t test their releases properly!
Because they should know by themselves what was good or bad in the last release and what should be better or stay untouched in the next one.

THat's exactly it chiefrocka4real. Konami change to many things each year, fixing one thing and breaking another.

Many say that EA release the 'same' game each year only with different rostors, but why would they need to change anything? they only need to fix and improve.

Still in shock at how much of an arse konami have made of the euro 2016 license.

Not only is it absolutely pointless, they are selling it as an individual game. With one licensed stadium. Its fucking mind boggling.

Since Pes 2014 we said about lack of stadia. 3 fukin years we said the same word. Pes need more stadia. The Euro is comming and many of us thinking Yesssss it time to move on. Maybe 5 stadia will includet, Maybe all? And........ They give us one.....For God sake!!!! Why? Konami Why?:COAT:

So it seems the guy who made the blog as been gone forever proevosoccerbrasil as been telling the truth, only konami release 2 updates and the 3rd one is the last. Great, now i can go playing the best game on the planet. Sigh... I preffer go to playtation 1 instead.

FREE dlc, don't expect that much guys. For me it's normal, and nobody's here have buying the game for that.

At least we will don't have any fake players for all European NT.
I'm with you about the lack of stadiums in general, but for the Euro 2016 dlc it's not abnormal considering Konami's usual schedule (same thing for WC 2014 but without new licences at all)

PES 2016 seems to be only enjoyed once you know its arcadey and basic, you just play it for what it is to enjoy the fluid animations and physics.

PES 2012 does animations and physics so well it makes it playable especially on manual, full manual, it feels natural its just again is so basic, there's is way too much AI cheat plus numerous other flaws and issues.

The potential is there which is the frustrating thing.

BTW ADAM & PES crew THE PC VERSION IS BETTER THAN THE PS4 VERSION!

I'd advise to play on full manual and it feels so much nicer, thats about it though i mean the game is still heavily flawed and it should still be easy, but it becomes a like i think shez said a like 'fun ipad game'.

PES 2016 is way too flawed to simulate football in a challenging way.

I played it on full manual days ago on -1 speed and top player and it's very challenging, yet very frustrating. The shooting I can cope with as I've always kept shooting on manual, the passing though is very frustrating. I much prefer PES 2015's level 1 passing. I don't even understand how they broke it in 2016. What's worse they see nothing wrong with it because it hasn't been patched yet!

This is a tackle I did on the AI, ref just ignored it..it would be amusing if it didn't consistently happen

I enjoyed this video that followed your one hitmanuk http://youtu.be/TEKfR_Dyruw

Apologies if already been posted on this thread. But had to post it to keep this post on topic :P

So after I said a few pages back that I am done with PES2015, I am back to playing it again. I gave FIFA 2016 a go and after a few okish games and seeing a few fouls (which was fun) I started a league. But then I began to experience the running in "sludge " effect that FIFA brings. I cannot put my finger on it but the game sometimes becomes so unresponsive. Everybody starts running like they are in quick sand and the CPU selecting the wrong defender for me to control all adds up to some doodoo.

So I have decided to go back to my ML in PES2015. Yes it has its flaws and I feel that shooting is way overpowered but the AI is pretty good. After starting a league in every footy game available I'm actually looking forward to finishing a season for the first time since PES5.

While I play PES2015 for games v CPU I will continue to edit my PES5 option file for games v my brother.

At last I think I'm sorted, now I can relax and enjoy some playing time.

Yes this is just stupid. They made 3 levels of pass support but there are actually only two which is manual or full assisted. They got the pass assistance right in pes 2015, but of course this is konami who has to make their fans go mental every year.

I'm not a full manual type of player, I prefer semi assisted controls. But I had no choice this year than to play full manuals because they don't provide any semi assisted passing this year.

I can only imagine that the standalone game is actually a full copy of PES2016 plus the Euro 2016 DLC, rather than just a partly licensed finals competition mode.

For what its worth I don't think they have messed up the license too badly, once you've accepted that they might have been locked or priced out of certain licenses you can see that at leats they have gone and licensed the teams that currently have silly named default players like Albania. The biggest gripe is the stadiums because the could have made generic ones that's for sure, i'll be honest, i don't know what the new/revamped french stadiums look like or what they are called but i know they don't look like the San Siro.

the worst thing is its broken in 2 aspects. not only is 1 bar a complete ping pong fest, it's the same as PA levels 2 and 3.

Saying that I have got used to the manual passing and the ting that lets me down usually is the shooting, at least it means I don't score at every shooting opporunity but it will mean that most of my results will be say 2-2 but with shots at 10-3

To those who keep playing PES 2015:

Are those CPU low shots in the corner in there as well?
And how about CPU fouls?

I haven´t played it enough to be able to remember.
