PES 2016 News & Discussion Thread

I don't think it's dying, just that FIFA wants to stop any PES resurgence.

People on here may dislike 2016, but it's been a success for Konami in that sales are up and the reviews were very good. FIFA's sales and reviews have been going down in recent years.

I see the J-League licence as an attempt by FIFA to stop PES gaining momentum. I think Konami should look into trying to overturn the licencing laws. I think this has been done in the US where it was argued that the customer was getting a worse deal because of them and stifling competition.

FIFA have created almost an entire monopoly on football games and it's killed anyone else even wanting to come into the business. Think back to the 90's and how many football titles there was. Now we have 2 and 1 of those is trying to kill the other through throwing money around and there is no innovation or new ideas
Yup, that's about it, in a nutshell.

Come on now, let's be fair.

The poor guy's got to do the data update, the kits, the adboards, some new stadiums, and he's got a dentists appointment next month. He's only one man...

(To be serious - between this and the J-League news, all I can feel is anger for what they're doing to PES. Slowly, and agonisingly.)

I tried fifa 16 beeing on sale on psn last weekend.. And what a surprise.. I'm shocked how far ahead pes it is

In 2 3-4 hours session I have seen shooting variety, attacking variety, correct referee decisions, fouls, straigth reds, penalties called, even for handball, injuries, stopped play because of player staying down, and fair play afterwards by cpu.

Nice defending options, good collision system, no-catch up bug, actually you can beet slower defenders while counter-attacking and that fucking keeper comes out so you can dribble past him..

Not to mention updates, presentation and so on..

Seroiusly it can change for me, but currently the feeling is similar to Pes 6, but in a full manual World as I play zero, assist for everything.

So far, so good.

I haven't seen obvious issues I realized instantly in Pes.

Only my opnion, from somebody who haven't touched fifa since wc2010

15 of 24 teams under licences (kits and players)

England, Walles, Germany, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Ukraine, Czech Republic, Croatia, Slovakia, Island, Turkey, Albania, Northern Ireland and France.

Did patches fix any of PES 2016 big (launch) problems?

I'm thinking of things like the computer a.i always shooting low and hard into the net, never shooting wide or high.
The computer a.i defenders giving the player way too much space to run towards the goal, backing away too much, not intercepting, leaving huge gaps.

They ruined the game for me, haven't played the game since last november when I sold it. To be fair, even without these problems the game would still be sluggish and slow imo, but I would maybe give it another shot.

Computer AI still shoots low, sometimes wide.

The defending is better in terms of leaving gaps and backing off, but still certain teams just can't intercept.

Referee's are better than from before, there are many more ways you can get a foul, but overall they still suck. in PES 2016 the strictness of the referees are completely random. Sometimes the AI can get like 8 fouls (not derby match), and sometimes no fouls at all.

If you really hated the game before (you sold it) then I recommend you not giving it another try cause you still won't like it.

I really like PES 2016 on exhibition modes, but playing master league is a whole different thing, they have to fix the implementation of team spirit next year, it has to be more balanced.

With the j league news and the lack of effort/resource to not just fixed the issues but also simply update squads it feels like a business that is at its crossroads as in what direction if any are they going to take the franchise long term.

I have broad experience in business closures and brand elimination and the lack of spend on such an important licence and the lack of spend in resource to maintain the product just doesn't fill me with confidence for the future of Konami and PES.

Sad thing it's nothing to do with laziness it's a conscious decision. Whatever EA paid for J league Konami has decided not to bid further same goes for updates , I doubt someone is sat behind a desk saying I can't be arsed ..someone somewhere has said here is youre production budget ..prioritise and manage it

this isnt a PES game anymore. its a FIFA clone and you can figure out what happens if there is a FIFA clone on the market without licences and FIFA with bunch of licences

preach brotha

It was a perfect storm for PES 2016 because FIFA went totally sim pissing off factions of their fan base those people went to play PES. But we all know after the latest patches that FIFA 17 is going to go back to ping pong arcadey sprinting whores gameplay to appease the masses so what does PES do to counter that? If they come out with just an extension of 2016 with similar ethos to FIFA 17 and a lot less licenses and crappier online stability then Konami might as well wave the white flag already.

They really need to be different and separate themselves from the competition. They have used up all of the fan bases' good will.

Konami won't do this, but if they had half a brain they'd seriously consider going back to PES2014 leaked demo code, build from there and spend loads of time fixing responsiveness and adding in more transition animations.

I was dropping a deuce at work watching gameplay videos from the leaked demo code of 2014  and the game looks and moves night and day better compared to 2016 and that was on PS3! The detail and lighting were phenomenal, ball physics were great, pace was great, animations superb just needed some more transitions and be more responsive along with fixing keepers and the shooting while sprinting you got that sliding shot. But these are things you could correct in a year you would think along with other niggles.

It's a clone in terms of game mode (at least they try) but nothing to do with it in terms of gameplay/feeling. The physicality, inertia and defending in PES are way better than what's Ea is doing with Ignite on Fifa.
3 things to correct to blown away Fifa next-gen, at least for me in terms of gameplay:
-variety in terms of shooting
-Accurate referee AI.
-Accurate database (stats)

That's what's make the game a little bit "beta-test" especially database an referee.
The rest needs only little ajustements but the basis isn't that shitty as you all say, but yes, i agree it isn't a well balanced game, uncomplete but at least enjoyable.

I've replayed PES 2013 and sees so many flaws on many others area. That game isn't close to FIFA 11 for me.

I am not surprised to see that Pes is dying..Blind fanboyism killed this game..

Bla bla fanboyism, i remember you doing the same as fanboy with Fifa 15 (undefendable game vs PES 2015) and with Fifa 16 vs PES.
That's not the point but Ignite version of Fifa are very buggy on the pitch, lacking of inertia with too, too many WTF situations in every area.
And i'm not a Fifa's hater, i buy the game every year since the 08 edition, same as PES.
The only version i've resell 4 month after buying was Fifa 15, most frustrating footy game ever.

PS: Sorry about the "comparison" but i'm just following the conversation

Scripted - none variety shooting, shooting and goals looking exactly the same like in pes 15 killed straight away this game at the begining. I cant enjoy pes since 2006r. Yes, i played on PC and PS4.

KONAMI is trying really hard to remove the last part of player inertia left in Pes, you can see that with Pes 2016.

The official word was to bring back the good old Ps2 Pes feeling, but those games had lot of inertia that made the game more sim-like even if the game itself was a mixture of simulation and arcade.

Jeepers the gameplay isn't amazingly fantastic year but this PES is dying shit needs to chill

I mean how many of you played J League. I don't think the Japanese care much for official licenses anyway. PES never had licenses and sold buckets over there.

Amazing how trolls like Kun pop in here at every negative news to kill the series off :D

Have noticed alot more physicality to the game not sure when changes were made but alot more players are body checking and getting fouls from it.

You forgot to mention one important thing: Online gameplay.
Online the game is far too fast; it's insane ( in a negative way ).
Just look at the following twitch movie, ment to be a masterclass.
I agree the guy is an excellent player but the game doesn't let it look like a real footballmatch. Oh and take a look at the score: 6-7 !

This is where Konami really has to improve very much.

I agree about the trolls, its really silly i know.

How are you getting enjoyment despite the super tron running issue where you just hold sprint down and you can run with anyone the full length of the pitch and score.

I'm starting to think this is getting worse and worse with each patch.

Yeah iv noticed that too mate, 80% of the time I score from kick off when I pass back to my CB and let him go on a slalom run, haven't tried it lately, if zee sees improvement in that area just recent, might give it a go see what it's like.
