PES 2016 News & Discussion Thread

No more J.League Winning Eleven size the 2014 version.

True. I think Konami let exclusive rights expire with we 2014, so that's why they didn't release a japanese league game since then. Now EA decided to acquire those rights.

Good! Dybala needs to be improved to about 88 overall.

They should remove overalls altogether. An 88 isn't necessarily better than an 80, considering only particular stats are considered per position.

I know I could still do it now, but the ML was so much better when there were no overalls and you had to look at individual stats to choose what players to buy.

Wow.

Wasn't even one of the licenses I heard was lost. But that's a big hit to Konami's backyard. The Japanese League license will not be the only major license lost this year unfortunately guys. Can't say anymore at this time I got to respect my sources (not Adam or Asim FYI).

My biggest fears are starting to come to fruition. I know I posted this before a few pages back but I felt compelled to post something. Losing major licenses in a market place where authenticity is paramount for video gamers doesn't bode well for PES. In the back of my mind I feel like we truly are gearing up for PES in 2-4 years being an online myClub micro transaction subscription based game unless they can somehow out-bid EA for the UCL when its up in 2 years otherwise EA will pretty much have a monopoly on the licenses and regardless of gameplay people are going to play the more authentic game.

Even if Konami created a portal where fans could access full option files and they could be loaded into PES with a tap of a button I still believe PES wouldl suffer. Video gamers today don't want to have to do that anymore. 10-20 years ago fans didn't care they played the game with the best gameplay regardless of licenses but its a different world. It's not about playing the best gameplay it's about authenticity and beating your opponent/friend online.

Hate it but its the video game world we live in.

B- man at least tell us the what you know without revealing your sources. . .put us out of our misery . .we're not gonna shoot the messenger. You'll be doing us all a favour actually.

Haha I don't speak Portuguese!

Well here's thing. If my source lied to me or made something up (which I don't believe he/she did but still) and I divulge it, then I look like a fool. Just expect another current license to be lost and pray not anymore lol. Even Asim stated on last WENB podcast he expects EA to hit PES with an exclusive license or two so this shouldn't come as a surprise though the J-League getting swiped up in Konami's backyard is pretty embarrassing.

It sounds like one of those movies where you meet up in an underground car park or a park bench pretending to be feeding the ducks.

Nice. This can be a good thing in disguise. Losing licenses might hopefully mean PES drops wasting resources and time on plastic surgery and go back to giving us proper gameplay. If they can't compete in the licenses front then surely all they have is gameplay.

Unless of course they scrap PES retail altogether and stick to the free myclub version.

If it's a "total" licence lost (like Bundesliga) that's a big problem.

But if they can use Fifpro licence to keep reals players appearences and teams formation like for Premier League and some NT like Switzerland, Cameroon etc., i personnally don't care that much, not a big issue...

What i really care about is the lack of real stadiums for the atmosphere. I think it's too much to ask about a (real) in-game stadium creator, i don't really think is that simple to make that on PS4, with PES production little staff.

I am really trying to understand why they are not including more stadiums, or a stadium creator. This is one big question mark. I am beginning to think they do that on purpose so the next version they can brag about including the feature again

Why would they change the gameplay if this year's arcade gameplay gets good reviews and scores?

Still hoping for a pes 13 type of gameplay with new graphics and animations though. If not, then I'm happy editing my pes 2015.

LMAO!

Nah nothing like that. I apologize guys, I don't mean to come off as a dick and tease information like "I'm too cool cuz I'm in the know." Its nothing like that at all and thats not who I am. I would love to share info with you guys but if I drop stuff then I lose trust from sources and I no longer get that info going forward.

I'll always divulge what I can to fans.

It appears that PES is approaching it's 'death rattle' moment then.

If you look back on the series, so much of the criticism is based on expectation. In the PS2 days, the franchise name of 'Pro Evolution Soccer' reflected the development cycle and culture surrounding the product itself. PES 6 was the brilliantly realised culmination of ten years of KCET working on, and gradually evolving, the title into it's final form. We became used to buying the game without reading anything about it beforehand, playing a demo acquired from HMV/other retail store, and diving in for a full year of offline gaming.

The following year's release, PES 2008, was where things began to go wrong. The PS2 version was essentially a roster update, with all it's components slightly watered down. The PS3 version was, as we all know, the worst PES title in memory, although PES 2014 was also appalling in my opinion.

The expectation was still extremely high, and we all assumed that it was a misstep. That Konami were simply getting to grips with new hardware. Each subsequent release has been a disappointment to varying degrees. What has kept us going until now has been the 'PES feeling', tidbits of genius sprinkled into the game that FIFA's developers have been unable to match. Sometimes we even love the game for a month or more, but now, in February, the forums have reached the usual point of extreme negativity.

I still get enjoyment from the game, but as I have stated several times, it needs to be set up in a certain way. The kits issue is one that nobody wants to hear repeated, and I understand that to an extent. What is baffling to me is the 'System Data' file, and the effect it seems to have. If you delete this file before loading up PES, and start a new Master League, League etc, the gameplay is always better, from my experience. Very similar to how it was in the demo, and when I first bought the game. Players simply respond better to my input, and the animation is smoother.

However, when loading up a saved game, you can usually tell immediately that the gameplay goes back to being silly, with ping-pong AI, and bad animations. A lot of criticism from the those who play offline centres on Master League and other campaign based experiences, and for reasons I can't explain, it seems to be Konami's inability to mash saved game data with 'System Data' and imported kits that causes this. This has been my experience with the series for a number of years now. Sorry to get off topic, hopefully some people can see what I mean by this.

Speak for yourself, glenn. I personally thought PES 2008 was just fine, apart from the hideous slowdown at times (especially in replays). The gameplay was still lots of fun and the same as it ever was.

Regarding PES 2008, I certainly won't be speaking just for myself. Everyone I know loathes that edition. But perhaps it was a 'Moyes post Ferguson' effect, and it seemed worse than it was coming off the back of an incredible series of PS2 games.

I don't think it's dying, just that FIFA wants to stop any PES resurgence.

People on here may dislike 2016, but it's been a success for Konami in that sales are up and the reviews were very good. FIFA's sales and reviews have been going down in recent years.

I see the J-League licence as an attempt by FIFA to stop PES gaining momentum. I think Konami should look into trying to overturn the licencing laws. I think this has been done in the US where it was argued that the customer was getting a worse deal because of them and stifling competition.

FIFA have created almost an entire monopoly on football games and it's killed anyone else even wanting to come into the business. Think back to the 90's and how many football titles there was. Now we have 2 and 1 of those is trying to kill the other through throwing money around and there is no innovation or new ideas

That´s a valuable point, no doubt.

But if KONAMI would work better on the game - like tweak the gameplay better (fouls, CPU low shots etc) - and not (or less) taking decisions that are not comprehensible (cutting stats year by year, no stadium editor, fixed online cam and so on and so on...) we probably wouldn´t care that much about a missing J-league.

What I´m trying to say is, it´s not ONLY due to a stronger competitor if PES is gonna go down (what I´m not hoping and what I also don´t think) but rather also KONAMI´s fault.

Well, let´s see...
