It's tricky. Some of you talk about realistic gameplay while some of you talk about fun. Sometimes the two just don't go along. How many matches do we watch every week that are really boring? Personally, several. Different leagues. Out of 10, probably 2 are exciting.
So it's really hard for either Konami or EA to achieve a realistic yet fun gameplay experience. That's why you either see ping-pong passing style or individual strides based on sprinting with players like Neymar or box-to-box action where there's really little-to-no battle or erratic passing from both sides.
It's all personal and it's all about what YOU prefer. Balacing realistic gameplay with fun it's almost impossible. I bet most of you wouldn't bare to have a game where you only get to shoot at goal 2 times in the whole match, just 2 scoring chances in 10, 15 or 20 minute matches. It would bore the hell out of you.
Fun in the video game context is not necessarily the same as football entertainment/spectacle, though, is it?
Because a lot of what makes a game fun are the interactive elements. How the players feel to control, how it feels to move the ball around the pitch. How well balanced everything is and free of frustrating faults/interruptions. How much variety you feel you can anticipate. How engaged you are by the moment to moment gameplay.
Nail those things and it will probably be enjoyable to play, whether there's loads of goalmouth action or little.
Couldn't agree more. Breaking down a tough defense, midfield battles, keeping a clean sheet... these can be fun, depending upon how the mechanics are implemented.
Meanwhile, tons of goals, tricks, sensational goals, exciting play... these can become mundane when they become common and easy to achieve. Unfortunately both games seem to be heading down this route a bit too much imo.

How come we never talked about this!!! That menu looks so fucking great compared to current shit that we have.
Edit: Also that glitter/dust u see on the images of league and cup gives me that pes 12 feeling, wen u r playing master league or bal and there is that cut scene to tell u it is the beginning of the league or champs league.
Not a fan of that, really. Less is more when it comes to any menus, as far as I'm concerned. Much prefer this type of thing:

In these two videos you can clearly see what I was telling you. Players still carry the ball awfully when NOT sprinting. The very same moves as in PES 2014. Exactly the same. Stuttery. Like one of their legs was litteraly pinned down to the ground.
The rest: Sprinting, passing, shooting, running, tricks, etc... feels fluid and solid. Awesomeness. But when you have the ball and you're not holding down the sprint button, it looks (and I'm sure it also FEELS) bad. Terribly bad.
they stole it from albiore! plagiarism!!!
