PES 2015 Discussion Thread (PS4/XB1)

Difference is Shikashi

EA Focus only on games!

Konami are like Virgin, they have many different areas of business.

EA:
Electronic Arts - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Electronic Arts, Inc. (EA), also known as EA Games, is an American developer, marketer, publisher and distributor of video games headquartered in Redwood City, California, U.S. Founded and incorporated on May 28, 1982 by Trip Hawkins, the company was a pioneer of the early home computer games industry and was notable for promoting the designers and programmers responsible for its games. In 2011 Electronic Arts was the world's third-largest gaming company by revenue after Nintendo and Activision Blizzard.[3]
Currently, EA develops and publishes games under several labels including EA Sports titles, Madden NFL, FIFA, NHL, NCAA Football, NBA Live, and SSX. Other EA labels produce established franchises such as Battlefield, Need for Speed, The Sims, Medal of Honor, Command & Conquer, as well as newer franchises such as Dead Space, Mass Effect, Dragon Age, Army of Two, Titanfall and Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, produced in partnership with LucasArts.[4] EA also owns and operates major gaming studios, EA Tiburon in Orlando, EA Canada in Burnaby, BioWare in Edmonton as well as Montreal, and DICE in Sweden

Konami:
Konami - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Konami Digital Entertainment Inc. (Japanese: コナミデジタルエンターテインメント株式会社 Hepburn: Konami Dejitaru Entāteinmento Kabushiki-gaisha?) TYO: 9766 NYSE: KNM is a Japanese developer and publisher of numerous toys, trading cards, anime, tokusatsu, slot machines, arcade cabinets, video games, and additionally operates health and physical fitness clubs in Japan.
Konami is famous for popular video game series such as Castlevania, Contra, Dance Dance Revolution, Gradius, Frogger, Suikoden, Ganbare Goemon, Metal Gear, Pro Evolution Soccer, Silent Hill and Yu-Gi-Oh!. The 2012 purchase and absorption of Hudson Soft resulted in the addition of several other popular franchises, including Adventure Island, Bonk, Bloody Roar, Bomberman, Far East of Eden and Star Soldier. Konami is the fifth-largest game company in the world by revenue.[3]
The company was founded in 1969 as a jukebox rental and repair business in Toyonaka, Osaka, Japan, by Kagemasa Kōzuki, who remains the company's chairman. The name "Konami" (/kəˈnɑːmiː/; Japanese pronunciation: [kó.nà.mì]) is a conjunction of the names Kagemasa Kozuki, Yoshinobu Nakama, and Tatsuo Miyasako.[citation needed]
Konami is currently headquartered in Tokyo. In the United States Konami manages its video game business from offices in El Segundo, California and manages its casino gaming business from offices in Paradise, Nevada. Its Australian gaming operations are located in Sydney, Australia.

The PES team is a lot smaller than EA Sports Dev team and Konami does not have the same budget allocated to its games as EA has! EA focus all their 3 Billion on their games, Konami have to allocate tha across:

toys, trading cards, anime, tokusatsu, slot machines, arcade cabinets, video games, and additionally operates health and physical fitness clubs.

Series such as Naruto and other anime it sponsors and endorses is bigger than PES, FIFA is ea's biggest game!

Sorry, but your wrong Shikashi

Since they started using that narrative to fool people into believing the "poor old Konami doesn't have the resources to compete with EA" nonsense.
It's a very easy excuse for ineptitude and lack of effort.

Last time I checked EA wasn't opening up fitness facilities and had a huge business on Casino games. But what are you gonna do, poor Konami just can't compete.

If only they were as good at making video games that are proper products as they are at playing the under dog.

Hit the nail on the head there.

They always portray themselves as 'the good ones' that just want to get a proper football game out there...what it actually means is that you pay full price for half a game considering that proper editing, stadium editing, stadium quantity, next-gen graphics, better atmosphere, better animations etc. will all come 'next year'...or the year after that...and so on.
For a compay of that size it's simply amateurish and doesn't deserve any support despite the nostalgia.
Just imagine th crap storm that would occur if Naughty Dog were do such a thing.

I'm really not bothered about Konami not having licences, but at least give us the goddamn possibility to insert them ourselves cause this is 2014 and I can't be bothered to have a game without Dortmund and play with Merseyside Red against Man Blue with fake shirts and emblems.

The fact that the PS4 doesn't have an image input capability has been known for a very long time, enough time for 2k to implement a work-around despite them already having the most important licence in the world of wrestling and essentially not needing this feature as badly as Konami needs it. The sheer laziness is astounding and doesn't deserve support. Alas, FIFA is so annoying that I'm still thinking about actually getting PES, but the obvious flaws and shortcomings of this title and the ridiculous behaviour by Konami make me more than hesitant. May just stick with FIFA for playing online and focus on GTA and other games for single player in the absurd hope of Konami getting their crap together next year.

No, I'm not wrong. They made a calculated business decision to stop focusing on video games and focus on everything else they do. This is their own fault. They have managed to kill off every single major franchise they have. Why? Because they make more money with toys, pachinko, casinos, fitness facilities and so forth.

But don't portray yourselves as this small company that can't compete. Own up to it. Tell people that you don't want to invest in video games as much and they are no longer your primary focus. Don't put out this narrative that the big bad wolf EA is too big for you to compete against. They're not. You just don't want to compete with them because the gaming market is over-saturated and dangerous.

Shikashi is correct the way I see it. Konami have invested fuck all in PES and are dining-out on a decade-old reputation, and sales are gradually declining as a result.

klashman: good valid points, but I am afraid you won't see any of those things you've listed in PES or FIFA. Now, I understand you better. You need to realize that Konami PES team is a small team, not a major group that is skilled when it comes to creating a perfect game. MGS team has far more superior staff than what Adam Bhatti is able to pull off lol. You just cant compare the two. And also, maybe just maybe we are overhyping PS4 to be this superior gaming console.

Is there any proof that Konami PES has a small team? I've been hearing this for years and its beginning to sound like an excuse to give them a pass for shortcomings

Bro, you can't compare Konami to EA. EA can easily buy the entire Konami if they wanted to. Its like comparing WWF back in the day to ECW or WCW. Vince bought them all.

Competing with EA isn't really the issue. It's Konami not showing their own franchises some love that's the problem. The company is quite prosperous as a whole but gaming seems to be a periphery business these days, one not worthy of serious investment.

PES feels like a franchise that does just enough to maintain decent sales figures and no more, but with the game losing content and feeling more hollow with each passing year, I think some chickens will be coming home to roost sooner rather than later.

The game may play fantastically well on the pitch (as a PC player I'm still waiting to try it), but the product as a whole is in poor health as far I'm concerned.

Since when did Konami become an indie dev?

It's not just a matter of budget. Japan homeland videogame market has radically changed. 3ds is dominating sales, portable devices and mobile games in Japan are now dominant.

Home consoles are pretty much dead in Japan.Ps4 that is dominating everywhere sells less than 50.000 units monthly. Those are really low numbers.

Japan has failed to adapt to the new way to develop games,it's not just Konami. It's Square Enix and Capcom too.

The entire argument is too complex to be explained on a forum,i don't even know how Japan videogame industry changed so much...

These are the facts.

We can only hope in a renaissance of home console development in Japan but until then i think that we can't really expect anything technically excellent from Japan.

FFXV and MGSV seem to be the start of something new for Japan games but they are still far from release.

Honestly i don't understand how people expected more from Pes. It's clear that the team doesn't have the technical knowledge to be on par with Fifa. This is because Japan developers are not skilled enough (yet) to use the new tools,it's not a problem of budget or number of developers.

If you ask me i don't see how Pes Team and Japan developers in general could overcome these difficulties without western developers help. The problem is Japan developers don't really want non Japanese people to help them develop games, look at the UK team that is being used only for live updates...

Konami's head office has decided to do this and everyone underneath has had to adapt to their given budget.

You have to start seeing Konami at it's head office and boardroom and PES productions team as very, different things.

Your going on as if in your opinion Konami should be investing everything in gaming, but they aren't and nothing we say is going to change that, you can't blame the PES productions team specifically for not investing in licences which is beyond their control. It's a corporate decision.

Corporations do give a fuck about anybody, the board members invest in safe things which earn them a healthy return, i watched that film 'Jobs' the other day, great film, Steve was trying all these brilliant ideas yet the un-creative board just wanted to be safe and make profit, almost put apple out of business till he returned ten years after being forced out.

Big Corporate Businesses are run by non-creative psychopathic people at the top, their lack of investment at a corporate level on gaming isn't something you can blame the PES Productions team on, if PES didn't mess up so badly at the beginning of the PS3 era, maybe they could of been allocated a bigger budget, then again EA messed up for about 10 years and their game just got bigger and bigger despite beign and still being shit.

We can all blame Konami (Head Office) and we maybe morally right to do so, thing is your wasting your energy because like i said before, they don't give a fuck, the whole thing where PES claim to be smaller than might EA comes from the fact PES Productions and the Konami Head Office is very far away in this day and age unlike before 15-20 years ago when Konami where for gaming only. In their minds they are making profit every year and that is that, they don't care about giving you the best football gaming experience possible. So it's best to focus on what the PES team can do with the budget Konami allocates them, PES Productions are very much a small team within a giant conglomerate.

But don't portray yourselves as this small company that can't compete. Own up to it. Tell people that you don't want to invest in video games as much and they are no longer your primary focus. In your post you showed Konami are the same size of EA. With Konami's focus on 10 different area's of business compared to EA who focus on one area and have it's own department dedicated to sports gaming. So you got Konami with just one big sports game and EA with again about 7-8 sports titles which all develop their out technology and help eachover out with enhancements Even if they did go all out and invest they still not be on EA's level of financial might.

It's not Konami vs EA, it's PES Productions vs EA Sports biggest title! Who's bigger?

Let's focus on PES Productions getting better with what they have, generating their own profit and using that to get licences rather than expecting a psychopathic board member to suddenly develop empathy for us.

Where have I made a comparison? I just want actual proof that Konami's PES team is a small one and things like 'but look at how bad the nets are' won't cut it

Good post, although i'd say Western developers and Japanese developers seem to be good at the opposite things.

Western games have high quality graphics, animations, physics, enviroments, bells and whistles and superpowered engines but have rather poor programming.

Japanese games are the opposite, they lack the big powerful engine and have modest to poor graphics but are normally far superior in graphics.

Look at PES vs FIFA, it took EA till LAST YEAR on the PS4 only to program more than two players to jump for a header, something PES did on the PS2! Need i say more?

Easily one of the best posts I've read in a while. You are 100% correct. Unfortunately the gaming industry has ended a long time ago where 80s/90s and mid 2000 used to be fun to play with addictive gameplay. You don't see that anymore. Like you said they are creating games wanting them to unfold like movies with no suspense, no desire or soul. If you go back in time and think about how good SWOS was with retro graphics, primitive one button play, but it had everything better than what todays football games offer. And to this day it continues to be fun. But not only has the gaming industry changed. If you look at movies, music pretty much everything has gone down to shit. The newer up and coming generation are just blinded by todays society.

You what makes me laugh, is people get so agitated and excited about new games because the graphics and engines look so sexy and cool, it's funny because whats the point of playing a easy, boring repetitive game with great graphics, you might as well just watch a walkthrough on youtube like i do too see how graphics are progressing. Thats all modern games are these days. really wonderful looking graphics, but very easy gameplay which doesn't test your mind at all.

I remember at primary school (elementary school in England) We used to buy a game and people used to go WOW when someone actually completed the game on their own, or even if their older brother completed it for them. Nowadays you can complete games in about 12-15 hours playtime on the hardest level barely dying throughout the game.

I really hate the concept of some modern games, really awful, life that infamous game. terrible, terrible concept. You play as a god-like human who become unstoppable essentially from an experiment? Wheres the challenge in that? Or these dreadful war games with this New World Order, privacy invading weapons, these drones and all these gadgets, which just feels as if your cheating it's so easy.

Ok so serious question here but what exactly was the delayed release for on PES 2015? 12 stadiums, steel cage nets, minor improvements to visuals and animations. 14 months of work on just player faces and improved responsiveness and a handful of animations?

Gameplay is focus...gameplay is good...ok ok, but someone come up with a list of improvements after you've played the game and justify how that took 14 months of work.

On a side note, I'd be keen to pick up PES 2011 again for my 360 but I do wish that had the tackle button (double tap pass?) that came in on PES 2012 or 2013. Player faces aren't as good and camera's aren't customisable but gameplay and goal scoring satisfaction was there in abundance....ok sorry I'm ranting here but I had a bad lunchtime and Konami need a rocket up them. :P

Can anyone with early copy rec video with stadium editor?
Or at least describe it :)

Thanx.

PS:Great to see Partizan in game.

I had a quick look, it's awfull. I am only able to edit the name of the stadium. I might be wrong as I only selected one stadium and it only gave me to do change the name.
