PES 2015 Discussion Thread (PS4/XB1)

Same nonsense as last year with the headers and players chesting a cross down rather than going straight for it. I play a wonderful curved cross from Robben to Müller who is free on goal and he just has to head it in but he decides to apply all kinds of extra touches and fumbles it, of course.

And, hooray, hitting the post three consecutive times is also in there again because Konami STILL things this is exciting.

YES THIS!! Also happens when playing a cross across the ground. Instead of tapping it in he has to make extra touches and than kinda lobs it in the goal. Whole feeling of scoring COMPLETELY GONE! I dont understand this Konami.....

Just played the demo and it's not bad game from my first impression.

Only one match played - A. Bilbao against Real Madrid, I lost 1-2. There were two penalties in the match, one given to my team and the other to Real Madrid. Benzema scored the winning goal from an assist by C. Ronaldo, following a nice bit of trickery from him.

A concern with the game at the moment, is being able to dominate the possession (81% to 19% in aforementioned match), despite playing on Super Star with a lesser rated team.

I'm going to be playing more matches and see how teams compare with each other.

Just played the PES Demo (as apposed to the WE Demo) - plays better, but it still BOILS my piss (to non-fluent english speakers boils my piss means makes me angry!) it's SO frustrating, when player switching with L1 I find that there's a little pause before it lets you take control of the player to move, and I'm also finding some players arent sprinting properly.. like I can see their legs move at a faster pace but the body isnt actually moving quicker, if that makes any sense at all? (think wile e. coyote when he runs off a cliff and his legs go mad and stand still lol) except in this case I find the body and movement is slower than the movement of the legs, it looks really odd, and it's bloody annoying, if I hold sprint I expect the player to move quicker, but nope, it's like he's being magnetically pulled to the defender who's in the chase to the ball with him.

I *want* to love this game, but I'm really underwhelmed, so many of the usual annoyances that come with this game. This problem with the stutter when player switching is absolutely killing my desire to play this.

Konami, that was a bold statement, but you haven't delivered, again. 2 months to fix all these annoyances.

One thing I meant to add, shots are WAY too powerful, they are stupidly fast, and I find that the balls travel too straight a lot of the time, there isnt spin and dip to a lot of the shots.

So frustrating because I want PES to succeed, but it does seem at this stage like another year of disappointment.

Don't get me started on the so-called next-gen graphics, I'm getting slow downs, and also at the beginning of the match (I know its a relatively small detail) but the adboards that are on the pitch near the goal line are all blurry, and the game is poorly optimised. When I look at what Naughty Dog can do on a PS3 in 1080p, and then I see what Konami do with a PS4 in 1080p 60fps, its embarrassing, Uncharted on PS3 looks visually better than this PES does on PS4, and that's alarming to me!

Oh well, lets see what happens in the next 2 months with Konami.

Happens to me as well. I remember the same issues with PES 2014 demo too. Happens sometimes when I want to clear the ball with a header on the half way line but instead my players either volleys it or chests and volleys.

The turf on the ps4 version looks shit. Which makes the have look shit

I think this is the most negative thing I've read from you

Played the demo on 360 last night. The way it looks and plays feels like a cross between PES 2013 and 2014.

- keepers were solid (liked the animation where the shot comes at them and they can't save it so they parry it with two fists in front of them...but a lot of the other saves you can almost see coming. It doesn't feel natural the way their arms are pre-determined to always push the shot away in the same direction)
- passing feels good (saw some nice outside of the foot passes and through balls from Iniesta)
- player ID good
- crossing felt ok and saw some nice ground crosses that were just begging for someone to latch onto the end of it.
- nets were actually decent...although I think to mimic real nets they need to move all the way across the goal, not just in the spot where the ball hits. Like a ripple effect.

I think the worst thing to say to the PES team is that the king is back, because there's a LOT of work to do still and the game feels like a nice, yet subtle improvement. It certainly doesn't feel like a totally revamped game.

I set up a nice camera angle with zoom 5, height 0 and angle 10. but visually it looks hazy, low contrast and low res on the 360.

Ball physics seem quite basic. Even in "scramble" situations it doesn't feel frantic. And when a goal is scored or a shot saved, you can sense it. I did on a couple of the goals I scored. There doesn't seem to be much freedom or unpredictability in that aspect. Sure - in the passing and build up there might be but again the goals feel like a bit of a let down.

Responsiveness still doesn't feel that quick. Not sure how it appeared to be so easy to make player turns on the original game test videos or how people say it's a lot of fun (PS4 might be a lot better but on the 360 it feels laboured). Pressing sprint and it takes a little while before any running is noticeable (I'm not talking acceleration). Also noticed an example or two where the player chested the ball down before passing or crossing.

If I buy the Xbox One bundle with FIFA I will download the PES 15 demo on there and see if it plays any better.

My first PES 2015 video.
A nice Free-Kick by Messi.

Sorry for the camera off-set.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm still enjoying the game.
I thought after reading some of your comments I would start seeing things and feeling different, but I don't. There are some serious issues with the game (specially in some animations and also with the AI), but I think I can live with them. Nothing game-breaker for me. PES 2014 did have some annoying stuff which prevented me from playing the game and enjoying it for a longer time.

I'm not holding my breath about Konami fixing the stuff that I don't like in this demo before the game is out there.

No need to compare Uncharted with PES. You're comparing apples with oranges.
If you want to see what Konami can do with PS4, go have a look at the new MGS (PP).

On a side note,
For me, demo is acceptable (comparing with what I think weakest series, PES 14).
Some issues need to be ironed out, but not too severe. Here's hoping Konami doesn't listen to boatloads of "unreasonable" whinings and change it too much.

Foundation is there, just need more push and "oomph".

Especially Master League (offline)

I think (and I say this every year) that me and PES are done.

I just dont like the way it plays any more. The ball dont feel right and the whole game just feels and looks dated.

Ill probably get it in March when patched to death and less than half price.
Lol you will never be satisfied with any football game

I think I have to agree with the above post.

Although PES 2015 is better IMO than PES 2014 it still does not feel right. Here are the things that I think need fixing (from the X360 demo):

- Ball physics could be better. They are not bad but after playing FIFA 15 demo they feel basic
- Presentation is still shocking. "Gameplay is focus" apparently...
- Lack of 'on the fly' attack and defence options like in previous PES titles. This is now in FIFA and so easy to implement...
- That God awful PES ball. Jeez, how hard it is to include a Nike/Adidas ball instead of those generic PES balls? It totally kills the realism for me
- Not enough cutscenes, for example when making a sub.
- The awful slow replays which start all the way from the start of the play. The game doesn't even give you a choice to play at the normal speed on the manual replay
- Inability to move the wall when defending free kicks or add/remove players to the wall. Why did they take this out? So easy to implement and was in previous PES titles
- Celebrations are not contextual. I was losing 6-1 against Real Madrid but I got a goal back with Messi. He proceeded to celebrate as if he just scored the winning goal in the CL final. What should have happened is he should have done a low key celebration or pick up the ball from the net.Still better than FIFA's custom celebrations though. Hate those
- Sprinting feels wrong. There is no real sense of acceleration. This is something that FIFA 15 has improved from last year
- Same cutscenes for yellow and red cards, at least I still haven't seen the stupid turn and clap from PES 2014.
- No commentary in the demo. A move by Konami to hide the fact that Champion and Beglin and their droning tones will be back this year? I think so
- Even though I was playing on zero bar assist crosses were still automatic. WTF. I want no assists whatsoever, this is why FIFA on manual shits all over PES these days
- Shooting has a nice zip to it but feels over powered
- The keeprs are ok but the CPU scored so many goals against me where the keeper just stood there looking at the ball

From playing the 2 demos for the life of me I cannot understand how PES 2015 beat FIFA 15 as the best sports game at Gamescom...

Have to agree with this post, based on my experience with the 360 demo last night.

Jim Beglin told me on Twitter that he's in PES this year (and I think him and Champion had their names on some in game files I saw linked somewhere a few days ago).

Replays should be at normal speed with modifying buttons to select a slower speed. Not sure why you'd want to speed it up.

I don't like the pattern on that PES ball either...and yep, the lack of commentary gives it a slightly empty feel..but that's a side point. Not the main drawback.

Tevez scored a goal then ran off normally...a second later he's on his knees screaming his lungs out lol.

I have to say that the close up visuals look nice on 360 but the further out you go the worse it looks.

I tried on the fly adjustments and you can only change formations it seems.

The delay in shooting and complete lack of heading with manual and advance is getting me down a bit/lot I like the freedom of advance/ manual shooting as in where I can put the ball!! But it's so unresponsive
This was also the case in the early days of PES 2014, had to wait for a patch before manual was fully operational

Just had 4 games with my son and enjoyed them. Still think that all the above apply EXCEPT that I put the shooting on manual and now I seem to be able to do also manual crosses. I think both are linked.

Nothing to do with game play but that celebration with the crowd is awful.
One player looks like he has broke his arm!!!

Really glad the delay has been done this year. 2 months to tweak and get it good.
Theres a good game underneath somewhere just hope these 2 months Konami can add a bit of spit and polish. I really want PES to come back to its glory but not sure it ever will.

The only way this demo is enjoyable for me is playing against a human opponent on manual shooting, zero bar assist. I can't play against the CPU, it's rubbish

I'm judging it by playing the CPU which is how I usually play Pes .. . . so no joy for me!

Are the people having problems with headers using Manual/Advanced shooting?
That's why it doesn't work. The header mechanic seems to be broken on anything other than basic.

If you switch to basic shooting, they header the ball just fine.

They really need to fix that and bring back square + triangle for low shots.

Lol you will never be satisfied with any football game

That applies to almost 80% of the people overhere.
It looks like it is getting worser and worser.
It's starting to be annoying now. It looks like you guys compete on the highest number of negative points for PES 2015. Please people, try to balance your judgements.

Well well. After a not so good start, I'm coming to terms with this lovely gem. This is really reminding me of the old times now. I get the new version, not like it for a while, prefer to stick with the old one, but I keep playing, then slowly it's beauty gets to me, then I'm totally hooked.

Made up my mind now. This is a definite buy for me.

:)

Only managed a couple of games on the PS3 demo and must say I'm highly encouraged. This is more like it!

The play feels more open, I feel I have more responsive control and, (on Superstar) the passing didn't feel automated. Really enjoyed the games and eagerly looking forward to more later.

Definately a good game under there. They just need to sort some bits and pieces.
But for £37 on Amazon its worth picking up.

this is the best PES demo i have ever played.
i also think the PES demo feels and plays better then the WE demo.
the ball physics, graphics and the difficulty could be better but the good points outweigh the negative points by a lot.

Really enjoying the demo too. Even if just fouls (not anywhere near enough by the AI) and a few more variables to shooting are added before release, I'll be happy.

I see some people are saying through-balls are too easy. I have real problems getting the right pace on mine. I'm on one-bar passing and basic through-balls, maybe that's the difference.
